MAYNOOTH – GREAT PLACE FOR FIRST GAY DATE

BY: https://midnightmurphy.wordpress.coma

Sunday yawned in front of me. I could have been productive and done some Christmas shopping. That’s what Christmas Eve is for though. I should have done some housework, but I have too much self-respect for that. I needed to do something though. On the spur of the moment I decided that I would go to Connolly Station and board the next train, and travel to whatever destination was on the schedule.

I looked at the departures board. It was 13.36. If I ran I would make it to the 13.39 to Greystones, where I could walk the Greystones to Bray Cliff Walk. While this walk is wonderful, it was raining so I decided against it. That was the same reason for ignoring the train to Howth.

At 14.00 was the train to Maynooth. That would suit me. Maynooth is a university town in County Kildare with a permanent population of 15,000 people and a student population of 12,000. I had never been. It is home to two universities . First is St. Patrick’s College – the older college. This is a seminary where Catholic priests have been trained since the late 18th century. Maynooth University is the other, far larger and newer university which trains students in more earthly subjects. This only officially separated from St. Patrick’s College in 1997 which makes it Ireland’s newest university.

Obviously it was the seminary that was more interesting – housed as it is, in grand old buildings. I walked past the medieval castle at the gates and got soaked as I approached the quadrangle – the skies open and the rain pelted down on me. Seeking refuge in the ornate old church with the spire, I discovered that it was locked. Typical.

Spotting a shiny wooden door in the main college building, I approached it and entered. Even though this was not part of the church building it smelt religious. Incense had been burned here. On the walls of the gloomy corridor was a series of paintings of sour old men, who looked positively constipated with disapproval. This was the gallery of the catholic cardinals of Ireland. I recognised Cahal Daly with his wizened face, and devil-red gown. Perhaps he was a lovely person in real life, but he gave me the creeps. His appearance struck me as sinister – resembling a bitter, judgemental, closeted gay man. Perhaps that’s what he was?

I was alone in the corridor. I turned the corner to be faced with another equally long corridor containing more paintings. A grim, atmosphere pervaded. Quite grand in its appearance it nevertheless had the air of a room from where all joy had been banished.

The door on my left was open. I entered and saw a sign for the students’ rooms. That must be a sparsely populated space I thought. Recent reports indicate that there are currently less than 40 men training to be priests in the massive college – the lowest since its foundation in 1795. Some years ago there was a big scandal when it was revealed how popular the gay dating app Grindr was in the college. This was no surprise to me. In the 1990s when I first moved to Dublin I had a friend who was a former seminarian. When I had recovered from my stunned disbelief that he’d spent three years in a seminary (I remember my initial response upon hearing the news had been a stunned ‘Why?’) I had been quite shocked to hear him speak of how the place was as cruisy as the George Bar at closing time.

I didn’t go to the students’ quarters obviously.

I left the building and made my way across to the new university. I never quite made it. The heavens opened again. I dived into a convenient Aldi store for the duration of the shower, and stocked up on tinned mackerel, sardines and haddock for lunch during the week.

Checking my phone I noticed that a train back to Dublin was departing in twenty minutes. I walked back and boarded the train.

The grounds of St. Patrick’s college are vast and green. I will pay a return visit in the summer. It looks like a very pleasant place for a gay first date.

PAT SAYS:

A kind reader let me have this article on Maynooth by a blogger called midnightmurphy.

Its interesting that he not iced the “gayness” of Maynooth.

His report from a former seminarian about how cruisy Maynooth was in his day is also noteworthy.

The RC Church keeps denying that Maynooth is a gay cruising establishment.

Midnightmurphy is further verification of what Maynooth is really like.

I like his last line:

MAYNOOTH “IS A VERY PLEASANT PLACE FOR A GAY FIRST DATE”

NEW BISHOP OF CLOGHER

_104699064_bishop

Pope Francis has appointed Monsignor Larry Duffy as the new Bishop of Clogher.
Since 2013, bishop-elect Larry Duffy has been parish priest of Carrickmacross in County Monaghan.
Father Duffy had previously served in various parishes of the diocese of Clogher including Enniskillen, Clones and Carrickmacross.
The diocese covers County Monaghan, most of Fermanagh and some of Tyrone, Donegal, Cavan and Louth.
The head of Ireland’s Catholic Church, Archbishop Eamon Martin, said Fr Duffy would “bring a wealth of pastoral experience having ministered in various parishes – both north and south – in the diocese”.
“As Clogher is one of our neighbouring dioceses within the metropolitan province of Armagh, I personally look forward to working very closely with him at a local level,” he added.
“I have no doubt that bishop-elect Larry will also bring his keen sense of pastoral priorities to bear on our discussions at the Bishops’ Conference, including the benefit of experience and wider perspective gained during his missionary placement in Kenya. “
He will take over from Bishop Liam MacDaid, who retired in October 2016 on health grounds after six years in the job.
Monsignor Joseph McGuinness had been acting as diocesan administrator in the interim.

PAT SAYS:

This announcement first appeared on this blog. We beat the hierarchy to it.

Joe McGuinness must be raging as must O’Reilly in Enniskillen.

Its good to see a parish priest becoming a bishop.

Although, I don’t imagine that Larry Duffy will set any fires alight.

Pat, you say you don’t think Larry Duffy will set many fires alight! Really? We’ve been waiting for your bright lights for 30 years or more. Must be very difficult being a bishop? When will those fires be set alight in Larne? When?

Mullaney is in place for the very purpose of doing what you accuse him of.

Dermot Farrell also blocked the independent enquiry board and strangely enough they allow presidents to do so.

There is nothing independent or enquiring abour Sr. Breege who runs the board. She is a very obedient Sr.

Why has this dreadful place not been shut down? if all these allegations are true, no Bishop should be sending any clerical student their for formation. A investigation has to be done by the Hierarchy to find out how this once great Seminary has been destroyed from within. Anyone found to be guilty of any of these degenerate accusations have to be dismissed immediately and Maynooth closed.

If you want to know the real state of the clerical body just look at the current state of the country: abortion-on-demand up to birth; same sex marriage; repeal of blasphemy laws; rush to extirpate all vestiges of Christianity in education, health care and in the renaming of institutions which formerly had a saint’s name; etc.

Priests are meant to be pure, holy and virtuous men who offer reparation to God both for their own sins and the sins of the people (cf Leviticus 21 & Hebrews 5).

Maynooth is the source of the rot that should have been closed many years ago.

The reason why the bishops do nothing is either
A) they buy into this gay-swinging way of life
B) they are in positive denile, possibly endued by their stockholm syndrome,
C) they are too afraid to rock the boat give the far reaching scandals at senior level.
Think of the clergy as mafia and you will better understand why nothing gets fixed.

9.02: No Pat – you speak and promise much and you achieve little by way of renewal. Your Oratory could be a wonderful shining light for a new Church community but you carry too much vengance in your heart. It radiates in almost every word you speak. That’s sad because you have admirable courage and I believe you’d attract more clerics and others to your vision if it was underpinned more deeply by true, gospel values. There are small communities in many parishes who gather frequently to pray, reflect on the Word of God and engage in local charitable works. They are shining lights. I also believe that you unfairly and disingenuously characterise all your critics as co-abusers or enablers of abuse. That’s a nasty judgment – totally unjust and offensive.

Like

What have I promised? When? The Oratory was set up ONLY after I was dismissed and banned from all Catholuc churches. It was not set up as an Evangelization HQ. But we have, and continue to welcome, the many people the institution you belong to will not, gay individuals and couples, divorcees etc. I do have courage. I had to have, to survive. Remember I never decided to leave the institution. I was pushed out. Someone, even a voice in the wilderness, has to call out the all pervading corruption. And I do know there are good priests out there.

Like

Patsy you were dismissed because of your disobedience and your own actions. You set up your own heretical sect you remarry divorcees and marry same sex couples you support ordination of women etc. none of witch is licit or valid. You are certainly not a voice in the wilderness you are corrupting God’s law and leading these people to perdition.

9:14, no one likes (much less loves) a devil’s advocate. This, in one respect, is how I see Bishop Pat.
It is the objective of such an advocate to unearth the kind of truth that people like you (including the institutional Church) would prefer to keep hidden. Such is the nature of this truth, it is why said church, for so very long, strove (and still strives…through people like you) to conceal it. But if this morally dark truth is not exposed now, it will be exposed on Judgement Day, when there is no further opportunity for remedial reaction. Isn’t it preferable that it be exposed now, to allow for repentance, reformation, and conversion?
You should thank God, daily, for the unpopular work undertaken by Bishop Pat, and petition God to strengthen him against the withering attacks of…people like you. 😆

Like

Mad Magna Caca at 12:47

Polly you’re certainly demented if you think Patsy’s a devils advocate, and as for you of all people to mention Judgment Day when there is no time left for remedial action. How many times have I told you to act now and repent and reform before that day comes for you. We can only petition Almighty God to put a stop to Patsy spreading all these unsubstantiated allegations and leading people astray. We also have to ask God and His Holy Mother to strengthen our faith against the withering attacks of… people like you!

I think that probably most young men aren’t that suited to a celibate life. Purely because the willy is so pointy in your twenties. Some men would never be suited to celibacy on that count alone, but some men get less interested in that sort of thing as they get older, and if you’re insistent on a celibate priesthood surely they would be the obvious candidates?
I think the Council of Trent’s idea of catching them young before the world corrupts them was wrong-headed for this reason.

Bishop Elect Duffy sounds to me to be a man who has spent his life in the field, at the coal face of parish life. And therefore he has the credentials to be a bishop with the ‘smell of the sheep’ about him. Better him than some desk bound bureaucrat. So, I wish him well. If he’s good to people, listens to people, is supportive of his priests, and preaches a gospel of love and mercy, then he will be just the ticket.

Like

There’s more to being a bishop than being nice. Vatican II teaches that the “fullness of the sacrament of Holy Orders is conferred by episcopal consecration, that fullness namely which, both in the liturgical tradition of the Church and the language of the Fathers of the Church, is called the high priesthood, the acme (summa) of the sacred ministry.”
It also taught that “episcopal consecration confers, together with the office of sanctifying, also the offices of teaching and ruling. . . . In fact . . . by the imposition of hands and through the words of the consecration, the grace of the Holy Spirit is given, and a sacred character is impressed in such wise that bishops, in an eminent and visible manner, take the place of Christ himself, teacher, shepherd, and priest, and act as his representative (in Eius persona agant).”
“By virtue, therefore, of the Holy Spirit who has been given to them, bishops have been constituted true and authentic teachers of the faith and have been made pontiffs and pastors.”

12:25, ‘fullness of the sacrament of holy orders’? ‘high priesthood’? ‘sacred ministry’? ‘episcopal consecration’ through which ‘the grace of the holy spirit is given’?
You do realise that these self-styled, clericalist plaudits refer to the greatest and most indolent priest-parasites, Roman Catholic bishops? The whoremongers who are practised liars, and Christ-betrayers? And written by (guess who)…other Roman whoremongers.
I’m sorry, but there is no ontological alchemy known even to God which can morph human caca into anything more elevated. 😆

Like

10:58, oh, it’s so easy to PREACH ‘a gospel of love and mercy’; even Duffy is capable of this much. But let’s face a hard fact here: every Roman whoremonger took a vow to obey his bishop, not Christ. So there isn’t even the remotest possibity that any of these, including Duffy, could ever LIVE such a gospel.

Is there? 😆

Larry Duffy is one of the dullest preachers in Clogher diocese and he has strong competition for that title. He’s an old lib, becoming a bishop at the young age of 67 (lol). A great man for the golf course and the GAA he definitely will not set the diocese ablaze. More of the managed decline favoured by his predecessors will be his policy.

Like

67 years of age. Most professionals have retired by then. Why is it that we call people of retirement age to do important jobs ? And the nonsense of expecting clergy to carry on until 75, and only then will they get some patronage for retirement ! Unless they have their own money and can retire ‘early’ because they have some independence. Otherwise they are reliant on pretty much everything on their bishop and diocese, and are expected to go on until at least 75 before they are graciously in receipt of whatever titbits the bishop will give them. And the best bits are kept for his mates, of course. Silly, and unjust, system !

I rather think the Orthodox churches are complicit with the same clerical racketeering. See report in today’s Guardian about the Russian priest flaunting Gucci and Louis Vuitton on Instagram. He picks up a ticking off from the same Patriarch Kirill who was spotted sporting a 25K watch. I would guess there is a lot of the usual homo stuff as well, and the same culture of denial.

Like

Well, it’s the plebs in the pews (or standing on the stone flags…if they’re Russian Orthodox) who make possible all this indolence, work-shyness, sponging, and hedonistic flaunting. How? By paying the bills of these indolent, work-shy, sponging, hedonistic parasites.
Seriously, of what use to society is, say, a Roman whoremonger (Roman Catholic priest)? How have these Christ-betrayers made lives easier, more bearable? Let’s see. By refusing to work for a living (and therefore expecting…no; demanding…that financially hard-pressed families support their indolence through ‘grave obligation’), by raping or sodomising minors, by having fellow whoremongers cover up for them, by financial corruption, false moral teaching, lying, cheating, deception, clericalism, etc.
Why would any SANE person support the continuation of this social evil?
The institutional Roman Catholic Church is a conduit through which evil is affecting, and destrotyng, family life. The Roman whoremongers are central to this infiltration by evil and are unaffected by its consequences…because it rewards them for their faithful service.
I have endured attack upon attack, on this blog, by some of these whoremongers. For what? For speaking the truth about them, and the Roman Whore, which they serve.
Those of you astute enough will have noticed that few (if any) of these attacks actually addressed the points I made; rather, they stooped to conquer my person by ad hominem (‘argument’ through personal insult rather than debate).
Ad hominem is the only option open to them, since they know that I spoke faithfully and truly.

I read some comments posted here regarding Fr. Michael Mullaney in Maynooth Seminary? Is there a real and truthful issue with him – not a heresay one? The reason I ask is because he was presiding officer on a recent marriage annulment appeal via The National Marriage Appeals Tribunal and unfortunately the petitioner was not granted the annulment. He is absolutely gutted and is now left in limbo and he is very dedicated to his faith and is hurting. If someone puts themselves through the rigour of the intrusive interviews of the first round case and then the appeal, and is telling the truth, and where their appreciation of the faith is evident, in addition to their desire to be right with God, why was it not granted? Surely it should be understood that nobody would put themselves through that huge and lengthy process if they were not genuine? Could it not have been granted based on the petitioner’s conscience? Nobody has been able to explain the phrase “moral certainty”. How can any outsider fully grasp the case when working only at the Tribunal on a part-time basis and where the petitioner doesn’t have the opportunity to stand before the Judges – the system of note taking and passing it on for consideration is terrible – like Chinese whispers!!
