VATICAN KNEW ABOUT ABUSING PRIEST FOR 63 YEARS.

JOHN POLE BLESSING MACIEL WHO WAS AN ACTIVE PAEDOPHILE FOR 63 YEARS

Vatican Knew About Legionary Founder Maciel’s Abuse From 1943
The head of the Vatican’s dicastery for religious life blames ‘a mafia’ for the cover-up, adding those responsible ‘were not the Church.’
Edward Pentin
Cardinal João Bráz de Aviz, the prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, has disclosed that the Vatican had documents on the abusive conduct of the disgraced founder of the Legionaries of Christ, Father Marcial Maciel, from as long ago as 1943.
The Brazilian cardinal told the Spanish Catholic online magazine Vida Nueva that “those who covered it up were a mafia, they were not the Church.”
Cardinal Bráz de Aviz did not give any more details about the documents in the interview, given while he was in Madrid for a conference late last year, but said his congregation currently has “nothing to do” with such a coverup and now follows “a very good process.”
According to a 2006 article in the Spanish newspaper El Pais, Rome investigated Father Maciel for suspected pedophilia between 1956 and 1959 on the instructions of Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani — 13 years after the first reports referred to by Cardinal Braz de Aviz.

During those four years, Father Maciel was suspended as superior general of the Legion and expelled from Rome, but the investigation yielded no results and he soon returned to his old ways but with more power.
Father Maciel, who died in 2008, founded the Legionaries of Christ in 1941 but an apostolic visitation of the order was undertaken in 2009 after it emerged he had led a double life of having fathered three children with two mistresses, sexually abused minors, seminarians and even his own children, and embezzled funds. Some of the allegations dated back to the 1940s.
The Mexican-born priest had managed to continue his abuse unchecked in large part because of an institutional and cultish reverence for the Legion’s superiors that he himself had fostered.
Father Maciel was often feted by the Vatican, including meetings with Pope St. John Paul II (who knew “absolutely nothing” of Maciel’s abuse, according to Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz), until Benedict XVI removed him from active ministry in 2006.
The Legionaries of Christ, and its lay movement Regnum Christi, have since been restructured with revised constitutions, most notably dispensing with a vow that forbade criticism of superiors. In November, the Vatican approved a new constitution for Regnum Christi, allowing it to be established as a society of apostolic life of pontifical right.

Immediate Response
In his recent interview, Cardinal Bráz de Aviz insisted the Church must immediately respond to abuse allegations. “We must be attentive to the victims and not the perpetrators, this is what the Pope asks of us,” the Brazilian cardinal said. “The pain of those who suffer from these abuses is enormous and we cannot let it go. We cannot cover it up.”
Speaking generally about the abuse crisis, the cardinal said: “I have the impression that allegations of abuse will grow, because we are only at the beginning. We’ve been covering up for 70 years, and this has been a huge mistake.”
He predicted “a small Church,” but also a “more correct” one, might be the consequence of this “difficult time” for the Church. He also said the current crisis “shows that many things in the past were wrong.” He spoke against the lies of the past, and said that “to my generation, no one spoke to us about sexuality.” This issue, he said, needs to be re-examined in formation.
Cardinal Bráz de Aviz’s comments come as the Vatican prepares a major summit of bishops on the “protection of minors and vulnerable adults” against clergy sexual abuse, to be held at the Vatican, Feb. 21-24.

PAT SAYS:

So many cardinals and bishops have said that they did not know child abuse was a crime until recently!

Lies!

This is proven by today’s piece that the Vatican was investigating Maciel in 1943 – 76 years ago!

The truth is that they kept it hidden because they wanted to protect “their own”.

And in Maciel’s case, he was allowed to continuing raping children by the Vatican because of the multi millions of dollars he regularly gave to the Vatican.

Maciel also have JOHN POLE millions of dollars to send to his friends in Poland.

Making John Pole a saint was an infinite slap in the face to the victims of Maciel and others.

John Pole was and is no saint.

He was an RC mafia don and an enabler of child rape.

How can he even be in heaven?

Buckley, you’ve repeated this before. It’s not new. It is old news. Well known by all who follow Church history and scandals. Pope St. John Paul 11 deserves more respect. You’ll never have anything near his intellect, spirituality or strength of spirit. He still inspires us despite efforts to slander him. Thank you Lord for the gift of this great Pope. Sadly, Maciel was a psychopath, liar and manipulator.

Like

Yes, Maciel was all three of those: ‘psychopath, liar and manipulator’.
But he was also one of the greatest contributors to Vatican coffers.
And the Polish fathead lonised him, and protected him from scrutiny, even when the odious Ratzinger eventually found a semblance of conscience and began an investigation of Maciel…which the Polish fathead stopped in its tracks.
Yes, a marvellous inspiration, this pope. 😆

Did the vatican know about an abuser network within Maynooth seminary. The abuser seminarian network is thriving.

Otherwise, you sound like someone with a grudge.

Bishop Pat, at your instigation, I have agreed not to use a certain and deeply derogative, but nonetheless accurate word to describe institutional Roman Catholicism, and I shall keep my word.
Nevertheless, you know the word is truthful, and apposite. 😆

Wait for the tsunami of abuse to come from the emerging third world churches. If you think that abuse and corruption Is bad enough in the west, wait until you see what is happening in those African and Asian churches. It will put the west in to the shade.
There is much trouble still to come.

While on one hand one could say: “‘nuf said”, on the other hand one is intrigued. If it was PSNI ‘in London’ that presumably indicates it related to ‘activities in Norn Iron?
One would like to know more, and as Fr Ted’s Mrs Doyle might say “Go on; Aw go on, go on, go on!”

Enough said. If you piss off + Vinny, that’s it, you’re out. He must have crossed him somehow and been disinvited from Westminster. Well, Portrush is pleasant enough for a genteel retirement, with the odd foray to Paris, Rome and wherever else. I don’t think he’s short of money, so I say, enjoy yourself Hughie ! This priesthood lark is not all it’s cracked up to be, and is predicated on a load of twee nonsense, so take retirement gracefully. You must be 60 by now. Well, that’s when most people think of retirement anyhow, rather than carrying on until 75 / 80. And all that happens then is priests just start losing their way in the Mass and prattling on about nothing from the pulpit. So, best retire gracefully. And be thankful that the PSNI haven’t landed you with anything too serious.

In 1527, the year he was 18, Calvin was arrested, tried, and convicted of homosexual activity. Instead of being executed (per French law at the time), he was branded with a fleur-de-lis on one of his shoulders.

I learned today that St Jerome brooded guiltily on his homosexual behavior as a young man.

Oxford historical theologian and principal of the evangelical Wycliffe Hall, Alister McGrath, reviewed The Early Reformation on the Continent by Owen Chadwick in the Times Literary Supplement (June 14 2011). Noting that Calvin “attracted eulogy and vilification in equal measure,” McGrath writes:

“Jerome Bolsec, with whom Calvin crossed swords in 1551, went on to publish a scurrilous (but highly entertaining) life of Calvin in 1577. His subject, according to Bolsec, was irredeemably tedious and malicious, bloodthirsty and frustrated. He treated his own words as if they were the word of God, and allowed himself to be worshipped by his followers. ”

In addition to frequently engaging in homosexual activity, he had an undiscriminating habit of indulging himself sexually with any female within walking distance.

Thus, according to Bolsec, Calvin resigned his benefices at Noyon on account of the public exposure of his homosexuality.”

According to McGrath:
“Bolsec’s biography makes much more interesting reading than the more deferential biographies of Theodore Beza [Calvin’s associate who was, himself, accused of homosexuality] and Nicolas Colladon.”

Actually, McGrath is an intellectual historian, which means his subject is the history of intellectualism.
He’s a clever fellow: three doctorates, one in science, one in history, and one in theology.
He was a student at a grammar school where I now live, and then went on to become a student at another grammar school, Methodist College, in Belfast.

Those words of Bolsec on Calvin could describe almost every pope in the history of Roman Catholicism.

Seems religious leaders are ALL cut from the same dark and corrupted cloth.

@4.55pm. Yes, looking at the Twitter account of Montgomery is enough to give anyone the creeps. +Vinny got to hear about Monti’ s last blog appearance and ordered him to delete the account because he was bringing unwarranted attention on to Westminster. I don’t think His Eminence will be all that happy to discover that Montgomery has reinstated his Twitter account. I’m sure we can look forward in May to seeing Monti’s exploits on the diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes. It will be a question of lock up your bars.

Yes, that bridge. It collapsed around me one night as I slept, anesthetized by the usual, and after I publicly criticised Ireland’s own Bishop of Bling, Noel Treanor.
I suspect foul play. I had a strange dream (at least it seemed s dream😕) that Fr Eugene O’Hagan, one of the singing priests trio and an associate of Treanor, stood just outside the bridge, warbling Danny Boy. The bridge then collapsed under the force of those sonic vibrations, like the walls of Jericho.
Was I dreaming? You tell me.

The Pope appears to be flexing his muscles. He’s given the US bishops a telling off, telling them to stop trying to be business managers, and to be pastors. He’s evidently not impressed with their track record, and neither is he impressed with the divisions that exist amongst them. They won’t like him putting them in their place so publicly. Perhaps he should do the same to the bishops of Ireland ? Honest to God, one despairs at the lily livered, wet, pathetic leadership of our bishops. Especially + Armagh. Even + Dublin who just seems to wring his hands in despair. Or you get the other extreme which is the hard line, black and white type, telling everybody they are big sinners and are going to hell. Take + Doran these last few days and his barely concealed threats to politicians who had to navigate the difficult waters of the abortion / constitutional issue recently. How dare he ! These politicians deal with much more complex and complicated issues of society and life than any daft bishop who is cocooned in a life of little responsibility, overseeing a dysfunctional fraternity of priests, and receiving his living and all his expenses from the faithful. Our bishops are a disgrace. Francis should sack the lot of them.

Like

1:26. Sacking them would be a good start especially Bishop Brewster millions Treanor. How can he get away with his extravagance is beyond me. His complex also houses about a dozen Curia staff when there are ample offices available within Brewsters diocese. Whilst he occupies his 4 and a half acres 2 nearby catholic schools, recently amalgamated, struggle for space. Treanor is a sick sick joke of a shepherd to Christ and a complete narcissist if he thinks he “needs the space”. I wonder if anyone has told Pope Francis of this spendthrifts extravagance whilst the faithful struggle to get by and schoolchildren struggle for space

Is it worth writing to the Nuncio and Rome to report this abuse of funds? Doesn’t happen in My archdiocese, aye right.

Like

The dioceses need to produce accounts to the charity office and to Rome so if this Down and Connor story is true then drop the Nuncio or the Congregation of Bishops an email.

As for Edinburgh my Scottish friends inform me there is not a solvent diocese in Scotland and always appealing for money and fundraising.
Archbishop Cushley inherited a Archdiocese in total mess and closed the Guest House and Conference Centre and a lot of staff and Glasgow should do likewise with all the Directors they have.

Like

If you do take the trouble to email these people, chances are you won’t get even an acknowledgement, let alone a reply.

This is the colossal arrogance of institutional Roman Catholic Church and its Christ-betraying clerics. Their first concern will be that bloated spendthrift, Treanor, not your complaint against him.

Like

Yes but Leo could always sell his mansion and move into a Chapel House. No danger of that. The Director of Communications in Glasgow is on over £70k plus benefits for doing hee haw. Winning used him constantly, but Mario and big Phil don’t communicate so nothing for him to do, although I see he now edits the Flourish (about 4 pages thick these days). Scottish Diocese should amalgamate all central functions and get rid of some of the smaller Diocese.

Like

Birmingham, which I know, has a huge number of lay staff now, including a CEO whose post was advertised in the region of £120,000 although I think he took less in the end as an act of simplicity and self-giving. He seems like a decent and good man. I bet he’s getting a surprising view of how the diocese has and is being run, and will no doubt be coming up against all sort of clergy obstruction. Others will be on decent salaries also. Not that I begrudge them. The labourer is worthy of his work and should be paid decently. I’m sure it’s the same for all diocesesas ‘instant wisdom’ priests no longer are available to run the functions of the diocese, without a clue about what they were doing except for instinct and the grace of ordinations. Yes, there should be amalgamation of administrative functions between dioceses in order to make the thing more affordable and efficient. But, try telling that to the Lord Bishops who still think of themselves as Grandees and Princes of the Church. They like to have their own bailiwick and to exercise autonomous authority over it. In the real world they would be out of business in a heartbeat. All this is underwritten by the generosity of the faithful, past and present. It’s not their own money that bishops and priests are spending, but the money given from the pews, by people who are often not on decent salaries themselves but are amongst the ‘just managing”. So, the Church in its dioceses is inefficient, profligate, venal, and heading for a disaster as less and less faithful turn up and less and less is given. It’s not a good business model. Nor a good moral example.

I am in a Scottish Diocese and I can assure you that although money is tight there is certainly no panic. Previous Bishops have not dealt with the reducing number or Catholics attending Mass and the Priest shortage and therefore the significant additional Churches and Chapel houses. Our Bishops are now making brave decisions and working as best as they can. I know that they have discussed amalgamation of central functions and even a plan to amalgamate Dioceses in the next 5 years (the Holy See will need to approve this). The Arch in Glasgow is waiting for Rome to announce an Auxiliary so he can start to make changes – he doesn’t have the energy to do this on his own. They aren’t perfect but you won’t find any scandal in any of them. They are good Holy men who are trying their best. If anyone on here has skills that they think can be put to good use then contact the Scottish Bishops. They are always looking for help. God bless and thanks. PS – a very small number of gay Priests are still active, mostly in Glasgow (south side) but down to single figures. The Bishops will not tolerate double standards here any longer.

I offered supply help to a few dioceses in Scotland sometime ago. Not one even had the courtesy to reply. It’s pointless then asking people to offer any assistance when they can’t even be bothered to reply. Is the Scottish Church complacent?

Down and Connor is a cesspit led by a man who doesn’t want to be there, supported by a warbling priest who is possibly a bigger narcissist than Treanor and marshalled by wee Joe who is seeing out his days living sumptuously in the leafy Belfast castle streets. Wonder what Christ makes of all this avarice and greed. Francis is a bit like Nero fiddling whilst Rome burns. If there’s one thing that the RC institution does well its protect and look after its own. Neither the papal numpty nor Francis give two hoots about this avarice. I suspect they do t even give a damn about the abuse either. They care more that the “brand” has been damaged. Writing to them is a waste of time and effort. The RC institution should be renamed as the Roman Catholic Arrogant institution. One thing is for sure they can’t realistically continue to call themselves a church. This organisation with its cover ups and all the rest is vile vile vile. Didn’t someone once remark that Communism and Roman Catholicism have come so far away from the ideals of their founders. Before any apologists start piping up about hate, let me say categorically that I hate no one but I do hate the actions and practices of these people and the fact that they are not of Christ. The word that Magna used, which BP Pat asked not to be used is totally appropriate for these people. This business. This organisation has sold out Christ. Even as it faces self destruction, there is no way it will willingly give up its evil perpetrators nor its wealth. This business has more faces that the Albert Clock. However the screw is turning in America. It’s a pity the civil authorities here weren’t more determined to bring them to book. Vatican knew about abusing priest for over 60 years. Is anyone really surprised anymore? That’s just a minuscule tip of a very large iceberg.

Francis tells us not to be afraid to dream the future. I dream and pray for a future when his institution turns back to God, renounces evil, gives up abusers and helps bring justice to victims. I dream s future where all who hide behind clericalism are exposed and denounced. I dream a future where there are no hierarchies, no sense of entitlement amongst clerics.
