YESTERDAY I HAD SEVERAL TROUBLED PARISHIONERS OF THE PARISH OF THE NATIVITY IN POLEGLASS BELFAST.
THEY FEEL THEIR PARISH IS BEING RUINED BY THEIR PP – FATHER AIDAN KEENAN AND HUS LONG TIME SURROGATE MOTHER – DELIA NEESON FROM MONEYGLASS IN ANTRIM.
Here are excerpts from the emails:
Dear Pat
I am writing to you as a very concerned parishioner of the great parish of The Nativity in Belfast. Our parish has been ruined by our new PP Fr Aidan Keenan. Keenan has sacked all the secretarial staff and has moved his side kick Delia into their jobs. The two ladies previously in the jobs have worked in our parish for more than twenty years and both are now very ill because of the bullying from Delia and the verbal abuse from Keenan who struggles to control his temper. Delia even has her own rooms in the parish house. Pat please help us. How do we get a new priest? How do we get the jobs of our devoted parish workers back? Keenan is a ticking time bomb and it’s only a better if time before something happens.
A concerned parishioner.
She was in St Matthews with him. Goes on holidays with him and apparently is his personal assistant in every way. He won’t speak on the phone unless she is there.
Can you help us?
We were worried about his erratic behaviour but now we are angry about how he is happy to distance himself from us and allow his woman to ruin our parish. She is living in a house that we are paying for. Is he charging her rent? Does she pay for food? Yet we are expected to contribute to her upkeep!
She has come into our parish and made the secretary and the housekeepers lives hell. Both now are off on so unwell they cant attend work. The poor secretary has been doing her job for 20 years. why should she have to give way because of this lady? Has she no employment rights? Bishop Treanor saw the havoc in St Matthews and had no choice but to move him and now he has dumped him on us. Why was he not sent to St Brigid’s?
Fr Keenan will not arrange a baptism, wedding or funeral without Delia. She accompanied him when he came to see a sick neighbour on a house call. When they telephoned to arrange she said he was too busy to speak and arranged a time to visit with him directly. She then told me that ”they” would be with us in an hour. She arrived with him and the family asked that she stay in the car and he told them that she was his ”assistant” so in she came. WHO IS PAYING FOR HER?
PAT SAYS:
For some reason – I suspect psychological weakness – AIDAN KEENAN is totally under the control of DELIA NEESON since the day he was ordained.
There were problems with him and her in Portglenone, and then St. Matthews and now Poleglass.
The clergy of Down and Connor regard Aidan Keen as “in need of help”.
Delia has become, over years, his surrogate mother and he is not allowed to move without her permission.
She is a physically large woman and very domineering.
I have known her in the past and she is a real Martha Mitty character.
She used to attend Mass and meetings in The Oratory years ago.
One night she was late for a meeting and when she arrived she gave the following excuse:
“I was driving here tonight and I came across the scene of an accident. A man’s let was hanging off. Lucky enough I had my bread knife in the car with me and so I was able to cut the leg off completely and put a tourniquet on the stump”!
Do I have to say anymore.
Yesterday we saw how Noel Treanor is allowing Eugene O’Neill to ruin St. Patrick’s Parish.
Today we see Noel Treanor allowing Aidan and Delia to ruin Poleglass Parish.
Treanor does not give a damn about his people.
All he wants is the security of his 4 million pound palace, extensive trips to Europe and his favourite wines which are delivered by van regularly.

Fr Aidan can be highly temperamental (socially awkward even), but he is not physically violent. He is, in rustic terms, an ‘oddball’; but he is not mentally ill.
He doesn’t mean to be difficult or strange; he is just this way by nature, God help him. I suppose you could say he is ‘highly strung’.
Suited to priesthood? To PASTORAL priesthood, in my opinion, no. He lacks interpersonal skills (which is posh shite for ‘unable to get along too well with people’).
Children are safe around him, though. (Can’t say this for every Roman Catholic priest today, so kudos to Aidan.👍)

Pat, you’ve excelled yourself! We needed a laugh and you’ve certainly come up with the goods. This stuff is priceless – pure “League of Gentlemen” viz. Reverend Bernice. It also reminds me of those ridiculous husband and wife clerical duo acts you get with the Anglicans. They come as a pair. Women priests, gay priests, married priests … none of them cuts the mustard. Long ago I believed in “real priests” such as played by Spencer Tracy or Bing Crosby, but they are gone for ever, so I would say let’s stand on our own two feet and take responsibility. Most priests are awful and/or useless. If you are lucky enough to be near a viable church community – even if not Catholic – , then go there when you can. If your local parish is crap, which it probably is, just don’t bother and do something else. Otherwise we’re disappointed expecting something which isn’t going to be delivered. Chill!

Whatever you say about Anglicans their system of electing bishops is top class. As is their synodal form of government and leadership. The Catholic system is in dire need of renewal on both fronts. It could take a leaf out of their book.

Has Bishop Treanor lost the plot? Has he any awareness at all of the needs of his diocese?
Poleglass is one of the largest and most demanding parishes in Down and Connor. Aidan Keenan has not been a well man for a very long time. To appoint him to Poleglass, knowing full well the SHEER HAVOC he and Big Delia created in Portglenone and St Matthew’s was INSANE!
Delia Neeson is absolutely Bat Sh*t Crazy! Both herself and AK are certifiable. AK should not be in charge of ANY parish ANYWHERE.
The appointments of Eugene O’Neill to St Patrick’s and Aidan Keenan to Poleglass show atrocious judgement and total ignorance of the pastoral needs and realities of both parishes.
O’Neill’s utter unsuitability for St Patrick’s was thoroughly discussed yesterday.
Aidan Keenan suffers very severely from depression but he also has an explosive temper. It is well known that he physically attacked a sacristan in a Co Down parish. He is TOTALLY CONTROLLED by Big Bedelia.
I’m surprised, Pat, this is only surfacing on your blog now. AK is not fit to be in ministry in any parish. He needs to be removed from ministry permanently and Delia needs to be sent packing back to Moneyglass! Neither he nor she should be inflicted upon the poor parishioners of Poleglass or anywhere else.
The questions need asked: is the bishop in control of his diocese? Has he any real care for it or awareness of the needs of its parishes? Who is advising the bishop?
Appallingly bad judgement is being shown and decisions being made that beggar belief. And it’s the lay faithful in places like the New Lodge and Poleglass that are suffering for it!

Delia sounds very much like the Vatican ‘Pasqualina’ character and the old Nun who runs around with Vinny in Westminster. I’m afraid there are many ‘Delia’s’ about the place in the Church and it seems to me they take advantage of clergy who are missing a Mother figure in their lives. I very much doubt Delia would get away with that carry on in her native Moneyglass or certain parishes close to Poleglass. I thought the days of housekeepers totally ruling the roost are over but seemingly not. This Fr Aidan needs to grow a pair, a thick skin and a spine into the bargain.

This is par for the course. I once saw Delia reprimand Keenan for saying something. Aidan Keenan comes across as very reserved whilst Delia is more “Agnes Brown”. She has ideas above her station and despite being in no paid role nor having any official capacity she is allowed to boss people around, in effect bullying and harassing them. This is where Down and Connor is today under Treanor’s leadership. Bullying and harassment have become acceptable with the bishop’s secretary Joe Glover leading the charge. A truly Machiavellian character. He is ably supported by the HR lady in Lisbreen who is detested by staff. This culture of bullying and harassment has spread from Lisbreen and now permeates in a significant amount of parishes. It goes back to some of the points previously raised on this blog; one of the main ones being entitlement. Sadly there still exists a cabal of priests and lay staff who think that their position has been bestowed upon them by God thus giving them carte Blanche to act in whichever way they choose regardless of whether it is in keeping with the gospel or not. This attitude in D&C comes from the leadership or to be more correct, lack of leadership. That staff are being treated in this way in this day and age is a scandal. Again the leadership have no fear of employment law nor of employment tribunals. They will usually settle outside court without prejudice with confidentiality agreements. After all it is not their money coming out of their own pockets. This is what the Catholic Church in Down and Connor has become. On a final note, the subject of yesterday’s blog Herr O’Neill also dismissed his secretary and housekeeper of 20 years or more standing. +Pat. Do you think that Treanor gives a toss about any of these goings on. Day to day running of the parish is left to the warbling priest, when he is not off on his junkets, and the dark lord, Joe Glover. I don’t think either of the two of them could organise a child’s birthday party let alone a diocese. Thus the diocese is left to its own devices. The civil leadership in place is only interested in the financial side of things. Priests on the ground are free to do what they choose. This is no longer a religious organisation. It is a lucritive business which operates on its own terms and follows its own laws. Sadly there are still people who are fooled by this outfit and believe that they are of Christ. This is the greatest sin of all. People are searching for hope, searching for God and this outfit has deceived them into believing that they can lead people to God. They are surely guilty of a breach of the trades discription act! Maybe what is required is a march on Lisbreen with yellow vests!!

Well, you may have your influential and domineering women over there, propping up priests and generally leading them by the hand. Our Cardinal over here, + Vinny, has his nun who is constantly by his side and is ‘not negotiable’. it is she who is the gatekeeper, who protects him from people and business, who eats with him, sits with him, and mops his brow. There is evidently a very strong emotional and affectionate bond between these two. There are many clergy who do resent her perpetual presence and her influence. She does present herself as a bit of a know all, and likes to speak for His Eminence. They will retire together, I’m sure, in some style in Chiswick or Chelsea. Whereas, if you are not a mate of +Vinny or the VG, you will probably find yourself in some social housing flat in some grotty area. It’s all about patronage and favouritism. The system stinks.

Westminster has been notorious for patronage under the last three Cardinals, each having his own criterion. Fascinating to see how Vinny has dealt with those once favored by his predecessors. The nun must be among the last of her kind. In Hume’s day the diocese was swarming with the sisterhood, who were given non-jobs in the newly created administrative areas with company cars, salaries and – flats too if they disdained to live in their convents. A number of priests formed close friendships and even married them, but the entertainment value came from the clash between determined sapphists kitted out at Marks and Sparks, and clerical queens dressed by Gammarelli ( leather jacket for Saturday nights – or a solitary bottle of gin for the elderly and desperate ). The nuns have gone, but the same clerical types are with us in even greater abundance now their ranks have been swelled by ex Anglicans. We can do better than this.

Pat, it’s the same in a certain parish in Galway, except there’s a ‘bevy’ of women as opposed to just one. Mind you, there is a chief lady in the said situation. Also, in Galway, there is a seriously unhinged priest who came from a religious congregation and has found a lady sidekick who can only be described as pure evil. They have made the lives of every priest he has been with pure Hell. Sadly, because he is useful as an informant and is well connected, the bishop always takes his side.

Pat, I am not sure which parish in Galway the previous post refers to, but in my parish, on the outskirts of Galway city, there is a PP who has his bodyguards, nobody gets to the father except through them, 4 women, one the head honcho, who is the most unchristian person I have ever had the misfortune of meeting, and another who travels to Galway 3 days a week to work in the office and stay in the PP’s house, so she gets a wage and room and board etc .. This parish which was amazing at one time has become a shadow of its former self and all because the PP has allowed these women to take over the running of the Parish. They have also made the life of any curate a living hell to the point that nobody wants the post!

Down and Connor is in meltdown. Many factions amongst the priests. Back stabbing each other left right and centre. Meanwhile emperor Nero(Treanor) fiddles whilst down and connor burns. No doubt there will be concerted efforts by Treanor et al to have the blog censored. They do not like exposure of their misdeeds. They are more interested in keeping a lid on things than they are doing what is right and Christlike. St Patrick’s and the church of the nativity are only the tip of the iceberg in that diocese. Treanor will be apoplectic with rage that his house of cards is starting to fall. I bet he can’t wait to get to Rome in February away from the place. Hope he gives his regards to Fraulein O’Neills friends in the British Embassy. Ya just couldn’t make this stuff up. It’s like a soap opera. Can’t wait for the Christmas Day episode!

Which part of the “composite” did you consult for the authoritative declaration about Keenan that you have made? That he is not “physically violent” and “not mentally ill”? Which mouths of Legion were speaking?
Because I can tell you, Fr Carta, that he is barking mad. And he has form when it comes to physical violence.
Ask the sacristan he tried to throttle with a cincture, whose back he jumped on and had to be physically prized off!
A senior priest was drafted in at the time to smooth things over and keep the sacristan sweet, so that he wouldn’t go public about his ordeal. It was the talk of the diocese at the time.
The man is seriously unwell and has been for years. He is utterly unfit to be in any public role whatsoever. He needs to be permanently “retired”.
And, as for the Lady Bedelia Anne of Duneane, she is a delusional lunatic and the poor man needs to be extricated completely from her clutches.
The whole thing would indeed be quite funny and straight out of Fr Ted if it weren’t so distressing for the parishioners upon whom this duo have been thoughtlessly and irresponsibly foisted!
Incidentally, Rev Carta, you hadn’t very much to say about the “Christ-betrayer” and “son of the Roman Whore” who was up for discussion on yesterday’s blog. Interesting that. You’re normally viciously scathing when one of the “Christ betrayers ” comes up for discussion on Buckley’s blog.
Indeed, you initially made what appeared to be an attempt, albeit weak, at “explaining” what is happening in St Patrick’s, under the watch of this particular “Christ-betrayer”.

None of this stuff surprises me. The kind bit of me wants to say that I feel for bishops, who are struggling with numbers and quality of men they have at their disposal. If you lose a couple, then there is a serious problem. So, I guess bishops keep people in post and put up with all sorts of dysfunction just so that the slot is filled and at the very least ‘Mass is said….’
On the other hand, this kind of behavioural dysfunction would not be tolerated in other organisations. People would step in and ensure that that matter was resolved. If only because there is a duty of care not just to the priest who is broken, depressed, violent, dysfunctional etc. etc., but also to the people whom he is affecting, the other staff, the parishioners etc. It is an abrogation of the duty of care and responsibility to lead when a bishop just ignores things that are happening. They will come home to roost, these problems. Just wait until there is a serious complaint about the activities of some clergy person (I’m not talking about sexual abuse here) involving management, personnel issues, dealing with staff etc.
So, dear bishops (Noel and his cronies at Chateau Noel, for example), I would discuss some of these things over your next lunch together and start to come up with some plans about how to manage them. It’s not +Pt and his blog that you need to be worrying about but your clergy and their behaviour and lack of skills.

Humanity needs Roman Catholic priests as much as it needs an intractable dose of the ‘clap’.
These bastardos have done incalculable, and unspeakabke, damage to global society. Why would a shortage of them present a problem, never mind a serious one?
The first, and ONLY, Mass was offered, by Jesus, some 2000 years ago; its merits are here for all time, for everyone, regardless of Roman Catholic priests.
A shortage of these bastardos should be toasted, not lamented. At least, fewer kids will be at risk.

Over on this side of the water, at Birmingham we have lost our Cathedral Dean. He’s been pretty ineffective for a long time, big on the talk etc., but pretty weak on the doing anything, and has been propped up for a number of years by loyal staff. There isn’t much happens at the Cathedral other than one Mass on a weekday and a couple of Masses on a Sunday. It should be hopping with activity and involvement in the city, but I guess as long as Mass is said ‘Bunty’ Longley and others seem to think that the ministry of the Cathedral is being done. The ex-Dean, in his defence,has not been well for a number of years. So, why was he not put on sick leave rather than allowing him the indulgence of staying in post and slowly winding down most stuff and putting the place in a state of semi-consciousness ? Same scenario as has been discussed above, namely Bishops just failing to be proactive and lead. In the meantime now apparently we are getting a pro tem Dean, who is the VG. He evidently doesn’t have enough to do, I imagine as VG ? And then some permanent replacement in the summer. Like who ? + Longley is going to have to throw his net far and wide in order to get something of quality amongst the clergy of his diocese. So, I expect the Cathedral will remain in a state of stasis for some considerable time. But as long as Mass is being said, it’s all okay then, isn’t it ? If they were a business the place would have gone out of business long ago !

I wonder to what extent the disgruntled comments and complainants on this blog are representative of the Irish RC laity as a whole? Are contributors here better informed, more involved, and/or more concerned than the laity in general?
While there is general concern about the state of the RC church in Ireland regularly expressed in the media, there appears no public groundswell of opinion demanding changes through popular protest such as withholding financial contributions, protest marches/meetings and the like. Another contributor eloquently used the term recently on the blogsite: “Are we all just ‘pissing in the wind’?” What can be done to catalyse a demand for change?

Calm Down Bloggers the Church is well under control and led by very able people The Cardinal, Archbishops and Bishops.
This blog has been In London, Birmingham and Ireland today and all is well nothing like what the Anonymous keyboard typed write and yes they say they have contacted the Bishops well they need to check they internet history data as nothing has arrived at any the diocese mentioned today.
The Church is on pastoral renewal and that is the church has too many parishes and not enough clergy and therefore all have pastoral plans but if YOU were part of the Roman Catholic Church you would know it is going through renewal.
Parishes were packed at Christmas and continue to be however one thing that’s is changing is 3 or 4 Holy Masses a weekend is getting slimmed down.
Please stick to FACTS and not what you think maybe happening or dreaming what will be happening get back to Prayer rather than be a keyboard warrior.
Sadly innocent people are being attacked and they are not going to send lawyers letters they just sit and Laugh as it is a Laugh as No Bishop will act over this blog.

Triuble in Turf Lodge to, bishop Pat. The priest there hurting people over funerals and it was all over Facebook. He even said a woman’s name from of the alter. Very bad feeling about and a petition going to the archbishop. We always had good prests here but the this one and the last one ruined the parish. The one ni doesn’t even live here.

Sadly many parishes are in the same state all over the country.
Clergy still need to learn from the past with realisation that the old guard is gone forever, sadly I think many Priest’s suffer from various kinds of mental disorders!
God’s flock didn’t put us in the mess we are in, it was the Bishops and Clergy that did.
With that said, I still love my God and Church.

I’d always guessed that Magna Carta was a layman, one of those rather pathetic middle aged laymen who often have jobs in dioceses because there is no where else which will put up with them. I always assumed his rage was annoyance at his dependence on the church. If he is a priest his ‘formation’ has completely failed.

“Magna” apparently is a composite creation and there are several hands that go up its jaxie to work it.
Some of those hands are “priestly” and some are former clerics. Mostly Down and Connor.
We’d all be very surprised indeed to learn the identity of the hands up the puppet’s jaxie pulling its strings and the authors of the toxic words that spew out of the mouth of their “creation”! 😉

Parishioners have been on this blog yesterday and today expressing their absolute disgust at the behaviour of two of your priests, mssrs O’Neill and Keenan and you think this is something to laugh about. This shows the contempt you have for parishioners. They are appealing to you for help and all you can do is laugh. What kind of hateful spiteful bastards are you. As long as you get their money you don’t give a damn about their welfare. Spiritual renewal? What a load of codswallop. There is no spirituality amongst the lot of you. Solicitors letters? i am shocked and saddened by the comments on this page. i have always been told what a strong faith there was in POLEGLASS PARISH an example for others to follow, So here are the results of the test that the lord set for them. Just as the lord tested the chosen people in the old testament, by the time MOSES CAME DOWN FRO THE MOUNTAIN, THEY ALREADY TURNED THEIR BACKS ON ALMIGHTY GOD AND HAD A GOD OF A GOLDEN CALF OF THEIR OWN MAKING FAILING THE TEST MANY OF THEM NEVER REACHED THE PROMISE LAND AS THEY WONDERED THE DESERT FOR 40 YEARS.
So what is happening?. we the faithful have failed in our DULY to PRAY FOR OUR ORDAINED PRAISTS AND IT WILL BE ONE OF THE QUESTIONS FOR THEM TO ANSWER,- DID YOU EVER PRAY FOR YOUR PRIEST OR THE PRIESTHOOD? THE ROSARY OUR HOLY MOTHER SAYS IS THE BEST WEAPON. I REMEMBER I PICKED UP AN OLD MAN WHO SAID TO ME, THAT HE WAS SITTING IN HIS CHAIR DURING THE WEEK AND PULLED OUT HIS ROSARY BEADS LOOKED AT THE CHAIN AND THOUGHT TO HIM SELF THAT THE ROSARY BEADS ARE THE ONLY CHAIN IN THE WORLD THAT COULD BIND SATAN. THE ISDOM OF THAT MAN , I NEARLY DROVE OVER THE DITCH TO HEAR SUCH WORDS OF WISDOM COMING FROM THE MOUTH OF THIS OLD MAN WHO IS A FARMER AND HIS IS NAME IS EDDIE GOD BLESS AND PROTECT HIM.
