MY UPCOMING TRIP TO CLOYNE AND KERRY.

I am heading to Cloyne and Kerry dioceses in the next few days.

There are two reasons for this trip.

1. To celebrate a wedding in Tralee where Father King Puck is a curate.

2. To have two meetings with concerned Catholics from Cloyne and Kerry.

I will also have a solicitor with me to witness affadavits.

Many people in Cloyne are still terribly shocked at the Kildorrey altar sex incident – and the failure of the bishop – Crean – to react and address the horrible sacrilege.

There are also a serious number of Cloyne parishioners who are shocked at the level of clerical homosexual activity.

Again, Crean has received many letters of complaint about these matters which he has failed to acknowledge or answer.

Crean is obviously out of hid depth and not fit for purpose.

KERRY

Although not as bad as Cloyne, Kerry has its problems too and a weak bishop in Browne.

I will be listening to these people and encouraging them to take matters into their own hands by:

1. Withdrawing funding.

2. Attend Mass at churches run by religious orders.

3. Report what they know to local and national media.

People can contact me at:

Will you be passing Meath en route? Perhaps stop off in Multyfarnham or Mullingar and get a straw poll of what parishioners there think.

Like

The majority of them regardless of how they voted would think what happened at the funeral mass was abhorrent. Why did the former bishop of Meath make his views on the Fr David O’Hanlon debacle known (as mentioned here yesterday or the day before via an article) and neither he nor the new bishop have made their views known on a priest denying communion in the diocese weird. Is receiving communion at a mass not as important as which headgear to wear to the Vatican?

Like

Did you cluck as much, Keith, when the Romanists ordained Sean Jones to the priesthood last year? The seminarian who alledgedly appeared on a gay-dating app cruising for bum sex? Well, did you, Keith? It is because of such men as him in the priesthood that many Irish Catholics voted for repeal of the Eighth Amendment in protest at the generations of abuse by Roman Catholic clerics.

Or did you just look on in undignified silence, Keith?😕

Dont forget to visit Cork and Ross where Johnny Buckley is still clinging to “power”.
In recent years several new priests seem to be unstable, moving every 12 to 18 months. I know of at least one case where one newish priest was moved at the request of The Gardaí.
There’s also some dissatisfaction within the clergy regarding appointments. Some great priests have been past over while two priests have each been given a parish within 3 years of ordination and one was given a lead chaplain appointment and put in charge of two very senior priests.
It is thought that John Buckley has dementia but thst Tom Deenihan was covering it up for a long time. With Tom gone the cracks are showing – the cracks are big and worrying.

Like

Why are some bishoprics still occupied long past the normal retirement age of 75? What age is the Bishop of Clonfert, for example?

Like

Are you a health professional, qualified to recognise the symptoms of denentia? No?
Then how the hell would you know whether or not he had dementia?

Like

Pat, there is something not right about you interfering in the affairs of other Dioceses. I believe your behaviour is mendacious. You are touting for gossip, innuendo and hearsay. That a solicitor should travel with you is a serious misjudgment on his/her part. I hope that you will discern in Spirit your impending arrival in Cloyne and Kerry, that God will pour charity and mercy into your heart because you are only motivated by a vindictive, arrogant and self serving approach.

You are not welcome in Cloyne or Kerry. You don’t have the permission of the bishops and priests of their dioceses and parishes. You have no business here so stay up North and mind your own business. Nothing but a troublemaker and a mischief maker. The people should shun you and chase you back to where you belong.

Is the permission of bishops or priests, a new ecclesiastical requirement, in order to travel to Cork and Kerry? Are citizens of Ireland not free to speak to whoever, whenever , wherever, without ecclesiastical permission? Some people seem easily threatened! 😡
Makes me wonder…why? What’s yer problem? 🤗

Exactly. Larne is still a very cold house for Catholics. What has +Pat done to evangelise it. He could go door to door in the loyalist estates instead of touring southern counties.

Pat, when you are in Cloyne investigate the PP living with his young eastern European boyfriend. Most clergy are aware and the bishop is failing to act. It has caused scandal in his Parish and they are always seen out together in restraunts and bars. I’d be willing to meet and discuss further at an agreed location if you could provide anonymity.

Like

Bp Pat, whatever happened in the case of the East European rough-trade who ended up killing a sort of society type priest he had living with for some years? I remember reading about it on the old blog a few years ago.

Like

10 23: Doesn’t Pat live with a much younger man he found on a website from afar? What’s age got to do with live? Don’t know for sure – but Pay I believe goes for younger ones. That’s his business as it us the business of others what age partner they choose.

Like

Please visit Galway sometime. Things have really deteriorated. Several younger clergy have left the ministry and the diocese. The word on the grapevine is that a priest reported a safeguarding issue and has been ostracised as a result. The new bishop is continuing the policy of his predecessor and leaving power in the hands of his rude and ignorant priest secretary, a younger man who yet is cut out of a much older mould. He could be straight out of the 1950s, talking down to people, treating the clergy with disrespect, addressing the cathedral staff in a boorish, condescending manner. He needs taking down a peg.

Like

Speaking as a former OFM (Conventual) living in Assisi I have to admit that east Europeans have big willies.

Pat, I hope you get a conscience somewhere on your episcopal travels. The wedding aspect is fine but the very idea that you would stick your nose into the business of other Dioceses is reprehensible. Totally unacceptable. This is the work of someone who has little to do and someone who has a weird perversion in chasing down, ridiculing and harrassing – abusing other people. It’s a moral perversion, a psychological illness. Just mind your own business and find something more fruitful to do, you degenerate.

Robert Troy’s uncle was a high ranking member of the community in Multyfarnham. The Ballynacargy native, ordained in Rome as a member of the Franciscan Order in 1967, made a major impression in Multyfarnham, where he was Rector at the Franciscan Friary. It’s remarkable that his nephew should be refused communion in the catholic chapel in the parish? Still no statement from Bishop Deenihan or Bishop Smith. It’s also been intimated that Robert’s brother may be a Carmelitie (a real one as opposed to any other sort of one), so I’m sure Robert like the thousands of other Irish men and women grappled with his conscience. People in the diocese of Meath need to know are their public representatives to be refused communion at the altar?

Dear Pat. I am a recently retired Priest from St Andrews and Edinburgh. I recently purchased a small retirement dwelling in the Archdiocese and on Sundays I say Holy Mass here. Anyone can attend, that is until the local Parish Priest threatened to report me to the Archbishop claiming I need his permission to say Mass in “his jurisdiction”. I asked the wee officious Rome trained eejit (who has been ordained 5 minutes) if I need his permission to visit Church or to pop to Tescos. How dare he! Any related correspondence from my holy Bishop will also be ignored. Like me, you must visit where you want and ignore the ones who are wanting notifications and authority over you. Keep working for God’s people and I will keep praying for you and your partner. God bless.

Like

You would think the local priest would appreciate the help of having another priest around. It would be more in line to ask you to cover one day a week for a stipend so that he can have a respite day and you an opportunity to exercise your ministry.

Have a happy retirement Fr. Dude

Thanks Holy Goat. Most kind. I did offer my services but he prefers help from Priests of his own age group with a Roman education and traditional dress. Not my thing.

Like

4.09: Rev. Fr. D – I don’t feel one bit sorry for you. If you want to say a “private” mass with family, that’s fine but inviting a “congregation” to your mass is wrong for many reasons. You’ve obviously enjoyed your ministry, been financially rewarded if you can purchase a house, and benefit from a retirement fund for priests. You are entitled to all this but surely if you want to be supportive and helpful to the local community wouldn’t it be better if you offered your time and service to them? I think by establishing a private oratory, which is what you’re doing, is most unfair to the local priest(s). There’s an air of arrogance in your comment. Your Oratory might be a source of division. I worked in a parish where Jesuits once lived and had built up a relationship with a “community” of parishioners who met monthly in their homes for prayer and mass. I was never invited, though they attended our Church frequently and knew I was aware of what was happening. What caused division was that at Christmas and Holy Week/Easter they never joined with their parish community but had their private house celebrations with their Jesuit friend. That caused much division in the parish. Apart from this, there are child safeguarding and health and safety issues to be seriously considered. I’m sure Rev. “Retired Fr.” that if you were still a P.P. you would not like a visitor to be working against you. A little courtesy, kindness and understanding – or INSIGHT – might be appropriate. Your implied attitude “f**k the lot of them” is entirely unacceptable.

Like

Thanks for for your comments 6.47pm. I have not set up an oratory. I pray Mass in the living room with space for 5 or 6 close friends and neighbours once a week. My retirement flat was purchased with help from my lovely family and will be left to them when Almighty God calls me. I know I am lucky. I also have a small retirement Pension from the state and I do not take the small Pension from the Diocese as they (Parishioners) were kind enough to support me for 52 years, so I would feel guilty about that. I hardly think that I am threat to the local Parish! In any case, my Mass is in the evening, the young Priest only has one Mass on a Sunday as the evening Mass “could not be sustained due to less than 70 attending each Sunday evening”. God bless

Lol priests get very precious about their congregations! I used to go to a Saturday evening mass in another parish purely because I didn’t like our parish priest, who my mother had a raging crush on. He eventually commented to my mother that I’d lapsed – even my mother thought he was delighted – so she just told him I was going to Mass somewhere else.
I do find the cultural difference between the retired priest and his younger colleagues interesting though, and he obviously feels excluded by their attitude…

That a man of supposed Christian leadership should traipse around the country with a solicitor and privacy a bouncer protector, threatening to elicit information from others by sworn affidavits is outrageous. I am surprised that anybsolicitircwould do such a thing unless if course one of the Little Brothers is a firmer solicitor. Bishop Patrick, you mention the word ‘illicit’. What an interesting usage of vocabulary in the world of Canon Law. As a Canon Lawyer, I was speaking to a very good friend of mine today who happens to be an acquaintance of yours. Just to put the word and concept in perspective, the coeliac host offered at Mass in most churches now is also regarded as illicit as opposed to authentic. That, I think puts a lot of things into perspective.

Like

It does indeed put things into perspective and represents an impoverished view of presence and grace. Christ is present in the Eucharist, but is not a prisoner of the form let alone of the rubrics. This is Pharisaism, so break free of toxic clericalism and find the Lord in your own life and in the lives of others, including the animals and all creation. Those who bang on about the culture of life tend to forget the wideness of God’s mercy, to quote an old hymn.
