POPE KNEW ABOUT McCARRICK AND DID NOTHING EXCEPT REMOVE SANCTIONS AGAINST HIM!

Pope knew about McCarrick allegations but dismissed them, claims writer of new exposé

Frédéric Martel says papal entourage told him that Archbishop Viganò informed Francis about allegations involving seminarians
Archbishop Carlo Viganò told Pope Francis about allegations against Theodore McCarrick, but the Pope dismissed them because they did not concern minors, a writer has claimed in an explosive new book about the Vatican.
The book, In the Closet of the Vatican: Power, Homosexuality and Hypocrisy, contends that there is an extensive gay sub-culture within the Vatican.
Author Frédéric Martel writes: “When the Pope dismissed the allegations, his entourage indicated to me that ‘Francis was initially informed by Viganò that Cardinal McCarrick had had homosexual relations with over-age seminarians, which was not enough to condemn him.’”
Veteran Italian journalist Marco Tosatti highlighted the passage from the book, which will be released worldwide on Thursday, February 21, on his blog.
Tosatti described the claim as a case of “friendly fire” because “if there is someone of whom Frédéric Martel speaks well, when not enthusiastically, in his long work, it is really Pope Bergoglio.”
He argued that, as a gay rights activist, Martel is not someone who shares the moral views or agenda of Archbishop Viganò, which adds a level of credibility to his words.
He wrote: “Martel, as we know, was helped and hosted by prelates in the Vatican, to carry out his task. In a television interview, he mentioned at least four high prelates close to the Pope who favoured and encouraged him. He said he had met the Director of Civiltà Cattolica, Antonio Spadaro SJ several times; in the book there is an interview with Spadaro, and an interview with Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, the great director of the Synods (more or less pre-arranged) about the family and the young. He is a ‘famiglio’ of the Pontiff, a man of his trust. So we have to believe Martel, particularly because he puts the central phrase in quotes.”
Last August Archbishop Viganò published a “Testimony” in which he claimed that on June 23, 2013, he told Pope Francis: “Holy Father, I don’t know if you know Cardinal McCarrick, but if you ask the Congregation for Bishops there is a dossier this thick about him. He corrupted generations of seminarians and priests and Pope Benedict ordered him to withdraw to a life of prayer and penance.”
When asked about the claim at an airborne press conference after his trip to Ireland, Pope Francis said: “I read the statement this morning, and I must tell you sincerely that, I must say this, to you and all those who are interested: read the statement carefully and make your own judgment. I will not say a single word on this.”

PAT SAYS

It is clearly emerging that Francis is an accomplice to abuse cover up.

A bishop sexually using and abusing seminarians and young priests is serious enough for his immediate removal from office.

But in McCarrick’s case the pope continued to support him and went as far as removing the sanctions Benedict placed on him.

In short Francis is an accomlpice to assault, abuse and rape.

As a result Francis sould also go.

A wee question: is the “Magna Carta” Composite puppet master called Stephen and did he work for the BBC after leaving seminary? 😂

Like

No, Stephen Douds grew up in the Belvoir estate whereas MC went to school in Downpatrick. Stephen is far too nice and urbane to be MC.
Stephen takes only a passing interest in church affairs now as his main focusa is the arts. He left the BBC years ago. In Maynooth he switched diocese from D&C to San Francisco (lol).

Randon point, but for Lent this year could the blog have a day for each bishop in Ireland.
Some are good men no doubt but others will have covered up just like the accusationed leveled against The Pope today. Bishops are unaccountable; but publicity appears to motivate change when all the skeletons come out of the closet.

Let’s show our collective rage and one by one cut these horrors to pieces…And yes, we can breathe a sigh of joy, gladness and delight as we burn all the skeletons. A miracle will happen then and all our problems will be solved. Aren’t you very clever? Tell us the dates……

BTW, where does it say that McCarrick “raped” anyone? He seems to be another scapegoat.

Who said McCarrick raped someone?
Sexual abuse is exploitation of another through power of some sort over them.
McCarrick, as a priest in his thirties, sexually molested an 11-year-old-boy through having power over him: being a priest, being an adult, and, ironically, being a ‘family friend’.
McCarrick abused a teenage altar server through having power over him: being not just a priest, but a senior cleric by this time; and being an adult.
McCarrick abused adult seminarians through having power over them: principally, the power to thwart their ambition to be priests.
I have a question for you.
Why are you such a dullard that you couldn’t have worked this out for yourself?
I hope you aren’t a priest, given how thick you obviously are. But then, you probably are, given the low intellectual requirement for ordination these days. After all, didn’t a mitred prick ordain Mr Sean ‘Jock Strap’ Jones?😕

The Vatican also knew about the horrific acts of sexual abuse in Maynooth Seminary. The Maynooth abuse is not just historical abuse bute is also recent abuse. Senior Maynooth Preists and Senior Seminarians must be held accountable. Think of the survivors.

Paul Prior and Michael Mullaney are both Victims of seminary sexual abuse. It was well known during the time they were seminarians a certain well known Priest on Staff would invite them both to his room at night. Mullaney and Prior were groomed and yes abused as seminarians. They were known as his Kittens. Many years later Prior and Mullaney are continuing his grooming legacy.

Fr David Marsden needs to state was it Mullaney or Prior that told Fr Marsden that Mullaney or Prior was abused by Drury.

Absolute Bullshit. Neither Fanny nor Pry-er were ever abused by anyone, in Gaynooth, when they were students.
Fanny is very much a plain Jane, physically, as well as intellectually – and Polly the Pry-er, as a student, as they say in America, was “homely”.
No. Wishful thinking on their parts for they were both ugly, or an attempt to justify their subsequent behaviour patterns, failures and cover ups.

Thinking of leaving catholic church as it was on my mind for a good while cos im so sick of this vile corrupt organisation. Your website showed me the other side of RCC which i understand more and more. Only saw one side of the church was brutul sadistic treatment by Christian brothers and money hungry nuns in institutional schools named in Ryan report with unbelievable level of brutality which i never understood it fully until Tuam babies case. Never saw a gay priest there except one alcoholic priest who turned out abused a girl in confession box as i knew her. I didn’t understand at first re her heavy drinking near alcoholic until she broke the dam (her mouth). It made lot of sense to me now re her drinking now stopped. That priest came from vincentian order as he was moved from one place to another for some 20 years. I met him once i think as my late mom bless her told me to keep away from him cos of his drink. One side which i saw in schools plus other side from this site make up almost a fuller picture of RCC are up to etc. First inkling re gay priest was 10 years ago when i met a couple of my friends brother who was then a priest then gay priest. Now i believe that RCC is more or less a gay priests in majority although i could be wrong there. Also i realised it is about money and power which i have stopped looking at RCC as a religious organisation, more like a political organisation in the true sense of a word.
One thing that stopped me from leaving was that they said you cant go outside RCC bec no jesus etc and on pope or cardinals mistakes that i shouldnt be leaving on their behaviour or mistakes. Also didn’t believe in Fatima cos i thought it was a fraud except for few genuine places like Lourdes. What bothered me about this is cult of mary??
Is there a way to leave cos i looked up opt me out website as it said RCC stopped taking defection cases.

Francis knew more than he is letting on. I think there is little doubt that he has a chequered history in these matters – protecting / covering up cases in Argentina, the McCarrick case, the CMOC case etc. etc. There may have been reasons why he acted as he did, and perhaps he should explain those, but to deny that he knew anything is stretching it a bit. He has trouble on his desk, and if he doesn’t deal with it openly and honestly, then it will come back to bite him in the arse.
As for the synod in Rome beginning today, I’ve heard a report that it is seen by the Vatican as a catechetical meeting, namely a teaching session ! Apparently many bishops still don’t get the problem of abuse, and so need to be brought to Rome and told about it ! How come after all this time there are still bishops in the world who do not get it ! And, there’s talk about how it is impossible to have a consistent, single Church approach to abuse, apparently because the Church covers so many cultures and ways of living ! It doesn’t stop them having universal teachings on all other things, with a universal canon law. So, why not on this issue ? Please explain !

Vigano was called a liar but it turns out he told the truth. Uncle Ted was a cheerleader for the candidacy of the Protestant now on Peter’s seat. In return, humble sent him as his envoy round the world and appointed Ted’s nephews, including Cupich and “nighty-night, baby” Tobin. Francis is rotten to the core.

6.08: As a priest I am deeply ashamed that you have been brought to this moment in your life. I appreciate your situation as I have come close to leaving myself for similar reasons. I remain because this is my life, my commitment made 40 years ago and I feel I still have something worthwhile to offer, however difficult. It is all very overwhelming at times and it is increasingly harder to feel of relevance. Having reflected much over the past 2 years I survive and remain but focusing on those areas of work and ministry that continue to give me the opportunities to make some difference to the people in the parish where I work. I change my priorities and attempt to concentrate on the essentials that I now feel give me a fulfilment in ministry. The bigger jigsaw has destroyed my energy and diminished my own inner motivation, sense of purpose and self worth. My prayer and an absolute trust in Gid gets me through each day. I hope you find some peace and that you will hold on to your faith and prayer and trust in God. You are disillusioned and outraged but try and find your own spiritual truth and always believe in your dignity and worth as a child of God. We as an institutional Church are in a very deep mess and I believe God will cleanse and renew us. The time is NOW. Every good wish for your life.

We need a smaller, purer Church of the genuinely committed, not disaffected moaning minnies who are Protestant in all but name. Tell me, priest. Do you, the roaring lion of faith you would have us believe, have you PUBLICLY protested the abuses by ‘Holy Mother Church’? Or did you, lamb-like, remain quivering in the background, ‘honouring’ your vow of obedience to these ‘holy’ mitred men of God?

8:00am. What a juvenile post. You would be better contemplating why this individual is so sickened by the actions of his church that he/she has taken what must have been a difficult decision to leave HIS/HER church. The church has failed this individual just like it has failed the rest of us. This individual has had their eyes opened and now sees corruption/abuse/ unchristian behaviour in the church. That he/she does not see Christ in the church is understandable. Your flippant comment is not worthy of their agony. Sure, leave but will that make everything in the rc church be ok? A resounding NO it won’t. These abusers and cover up clerics are the ones you should be directing your comments to. They need to leave and practise their evil elsewhere if that is their want instead of practising it under the guise of Christianity which it most certainly is not. I pray that this individual will enjoy God’s presence and that more like him/her are steered away from this corrupt institution. It has nothing to offer people of God. This whole Mr McCarrick debacle has been thrown back in Francis face. If you don’t see the corruption in this church then you are blind to the truth

I am very concerned about the abuses the Vatican is not coming clean about. The mccarrick saga is about damage limitation. It is not an open nor honest way of tackling all forms of abuse including the beatings/the power grabbing/ sexual, physical and emotional abuses meted out to us throughout the years. Bad apples are one thing but when the orchard is poisoned it’s time to cut down the trees. Nothing can save them. The hierarchy is just like the poisoned orchard. I had high hopes for Francis. Sadly he has been a disaster. His meeting over the next few days will be paid lip service to by the cover up bishops. Does anyone really believe that it will change anything? It will not. Steps will be taken to protect the firm first and foremost. I’m sure Christ is weeping at their antics

That McCarrick was an entitled perve is not a story. What is a story is that Frankie rehabilited him in the full knowledge that he was a life-long serial abuser. When called out on this, the pope acted the martyr, going for the silent treatment and saying attacks on him were the work of the devil, while the papal attack dogs called Vigano a liar. Francis is the worst pope in my lifetime.

Cardinal Sean O’Malley of Boston, long the pope’s top adviser on protecting children from sex abuse, will not have a speaking slot at this week’s Vatican summit on the matter, even though it was his idea. Cupich is running it, which is a total disgrace.

Like

The Vatican abuse summit is firmly directed to the protection of minors. Fair enough but no protection it seems for seminarians. Why are they not on the agenda?

Like

The clergy avoid minors now because prison’s not nice. They’ve moved up a few years and the sems have become the target. As has been said many times on this blog, sems have no rights and because they can be dismissed by superiors at a moment’s notice they are vulnerable adults and need protection. Sems are often sexually niave and are easy pickings for the McCarrick’s of this world.

I see Burke and Brandmuller are saying that the abuse crisis in the Church is all the fault of the gays, and has nothing to do with clericalism. And that’s Grande Dame Burke saying that !
We are going to see a lot of transference of blame going on as they look for scapegoats to explain away all this difficulty, and the easiest targets will be the gays. Blame it on them, and then the Church can blithely go its merry way carrying on as normal with its hierarchical, clerical, entitled, exceptional culture. Talk about self-serving delusion.
The figures in the West may give them ammunition to make this spurious connection between homosexual clergy and abuse (although anybody with a brain understands the complexity and nuance of the issue, and recognises that it is not a single issue gay cause), but you wait until the tsunami of abuse in the southern Church is revealed, and that will be almost exclusively heterosexual abuse of girls and women. What are they g going to say then ?
In the meantime, if you are gay and a priests, then expect a rough ride in the near future, because you are going to have the blame put upon you. Sorry. But, until the Church recognises the true cause of the abuse crisis, namely its own self and structures which facilitate and cover up abuse, then it is going to be you who are the scapegoats. It stinks !

McCarrick is gay. Yes, no or maybe? Maynooth is a gay seminary. Yes, no or maybe?

The protagonists in this crisis are gay liberals who despise/despised clericalism: Bergoglio, Danneels, Mahoney, Cocopalmerio, Ricca, Tobin, Paglia, Maradiaga, Bernardin, Martini, Ledwith, Drury, Hume, CMOC, James Martin, Brendan Smyth, Jack McCabe etc etc

McCarrick did not rape anyone. He did not even touch any seminarian. But he had a fishy ritual of sharing his bed with them. The recent accusations of abusing minors have not been tested. So it looks as if he is just being scapegoated.
