MEATH – THE DISAPPEARED – DOWN AND CONNOR – THE REAPPEARED.

MEATH.

THE DIOCESE OF MEATH SEEMS TO HAVE, LIKE DOWN AND CONNOR, LOST A PRIEST IN THE FIRST YEARS OF HIS MINISTRY – FATHER ROBERT MC GIVNEY – ORDAINED IN 2015.

Here is Bob in a 2 inch collar, immaculate black suit, and shiny leather shoes on a farm holding a lamb.

Here he is blessing a yew and her lambs on the same farm:

thumbnail

Bob has also issued a public invitation to all the local farmers to bring their animals to the car park of Mullingar Cathedral to be blessed!

Has Bob made any arrangements for the cleaning of the cathedral car park after all the midland animals have used it as their toilet 🙂

I wonder if the administrator of the cathedral and the new bishop Tom Dennihan gone out in their rubber boots, water hose and shovels to clean it all up? Mind you they could give the dropping to the blue rinse ladies of Mullingar to make their roses grow.

A nice romantic idea – but what about the practicalities?

Anyone, now we hear that Bob has left the cathedral and the diocese after three years from ordination?

What is happening that such newly ordained priests are finding out so quickly that they are not suited to priesthood.

You see the seminary is great fun with all the lads.

But the big bad world of priestly ministry etc – and celibacy – is very different!

Bob was pictured at World Youth Day with Gorgeous and other Maynooth ones.

THE DOWN AND CONNOR REAPPEARED

Great news! The Dean of Belfast and the former Director of Students in Moore House, London has come out of hiding – Dean Hugh Kennedy’

He was spotted this very week in Lourdes dressed from head to toe in all kinds of sartorial splendour.

Here he is – pictured with other “minor prelates” of the RC Church in a Lourdes procession:

The Dean’s many fans and supporters will be so pleased to know that he left his hermitage on the North Coast and is on parade in the South of France in regal purple and red.

Pat, you should report the Kennedy picture to the Safeguarding Office.
All joking aside, Kennedy is suspended from ministry and he is accused of a sexual crime against a young man.
He is not allowed to present himself in clerical attire or to minister at present.
The man is clearly out of his tree to be parading himself around in Lourdes in such a manner.

These interviews with these guys make me nauseous. Utterly cringeworthy. The Conor McCarthy one was the same. Good grief. And who is that clown doing the interviewing?

They should put the interviewer’s name on it. These videos are a hostage to fortune.

Bucky, what a waste of space you are! A lazy, frilly laced moronic bishop with nothing useful to do. Living in an ivory tower, living off the goodness of others but living a life of mockery of Christ. Whatever about the young priests leaving, they certainly knew not to find a pathway to Larne! That would have been hell! They’d have lost all integrity and morals and – God in the process. Go and look at yourself in the mirror and try then to find your soul.

I thought he was manning the trolleys on Ryanair. I cannot keep up with the comings and goings on this blog. What is extraordinary is that so many of the characters named are still either in some sort of “ministry” ( my arse! ) or still not entirely disconnected with Maynooth.

Noel sees fit to turn one of his recently ordained priests into a desk man, residing on the Malone Road, and another one is in Rome at the Biblical Institute. This is madness at a time when Noel gives gloomy sermons about priestless parishes being just around the corner.

What he did in the seminary should have been sufficient. Why don’t we send all young priests off for an agreeable time in the Biblicum?

Pat, are you going to report “the Dean” to Down & Connor Safeguarding? They need to hear from you this morning and to receive this photo.
Why hound Lothario Dallat relentlessly (who isn’t accused of any crime) and make a big joke of Kennedy, who is accused of a sexual crime against a young male? I’m sure the young man who had occasion to report Kennedy isn’t laughing.
To be fair to Dallat, he probably does feel some remorse and shame at his behaviour, even if it was just because he was rumbled.
But Kennedy? No way! He sees himself as a “poor martyred innocent victim”. Him mincing around in Lourdes, all dressed up in his Order of Malta costume that allows him to be mistaken for a “prelate”, is indicative of how seriously crazy he is!
You should also ring the Knights of Malta, Pat, asking them why a suspended priest, under police investigation for sexual offence, is able to march around Lourdes under their watch? What does it say for their safeguarding policies?
The media will be interested in this one too, Pat. Go after it. Put a stop to the gallop of this self-styled “Dean”.

Like

No use telling the Order of Malta. He is on pilgrimage with them in Lourdes from 1-8 May. He is in a procession with other priest chaplains of the OMs, who are often confused with the Knights of Malta but the Knights would be a bit below the salt for the Dean.

Oh, such Joy to see Dean Kennedy reappear. We could have such fun regaling ourselves with his antics ! Anyhow, I suppose a bit of harmless fun dressing up and parading through the Lourdes carnival won’t do anybody too much harm.
I suppose his Bishop might just be asking what he’s up to ? I thought he was furloughed at present and supposed to keep a low profile, perhaps even under some sort of interdict about celebrating Mass etc. and presenting himself as a clergyman, including dressing up as one ?
It goes to the other character, McGivney, mentioned in today’s blog. Nobody knows what is happening. This is more of the Church burying its head, keeping quiet, hoping nobody notices, praying that it will all go away, rather than just being upfront, honest and transparent. The people for whom McGivney was ordained and who paid for his many years in the seminary and university (us !), should be informed of the situation and whether he is still in ministry or has left. Likewise with Dean Kennedy. We should have been told by D&C what his situation is and what his status is. Instead, we are left to wonder and think and imagine. The Church really does need to get with proper information flow. That does not mean that we need to be told all the salacious detail, but the generality of what is happening should be given in a calm and informed way so that we, the People of God, know what is happening in our Church. The Dallat situation discussed over the last few days is another example of atrocious handling of the reality of a situation by the Church. They really do need to get some people in to handle all of this rather than having some idiot untrained priest taking care of it. And a real professional would tell them that whatever the short term pain,it is always best to be open, transparent and honest earlier rather than later, than just to hope that people don’t notice or hope that the thing will go away, because it doesn’t. It comes back to bite you in the arse !

I never understood why they didn’t make the Dean of Belfast a mitred Dean, like a mitred Abbot.

I hope he didn’t go missing in action in Lourdes. Didn’t his Mia in London during that ill-fated choir trip lead to his first suspension?

Pope Francis has made it very clear they have to meet the victims and that is a fact so Treanor has not got the message.

Tell your victim to write to the Papal Nuncio and Rome but have a copy of his refusal in case he says he knows nothing about it.

The Down and Connor Safeguarding Officer is a company man even though he is obliged to work to a higher standard as a registered safeguarding professional. Do what the cuz does and don’t rely on him – refer every safeguarding issue/concern directly to the police and social services and always seek advice from the police if you are not sure a referral is appropriate. The diocese will (hopefully) take things more seriously when they are informed by the civil authorities as opposed to one of the subordinate ‘worker bees’.

Like

I don’t think his disappearance will be a result of a breach of celibacy rules, Bp Pat. After all, the penalty for infringement nowadays can range from a chaplaincy appointment through to a standing ovation.
No, Bishop, I imagine it’s more likely he has met someone special; a nice lady or a man, although there’s an 80 percent chance of the latter

I wonder how much of the Kennedy Bakery inheritance is left, after all the fine dining, vintage wines, travel to the hotspots of Europe, assorted clerical clobber, gifts, and maintaining the plush apartment in Portrush overlooking the Atlantic? Even when he was hanging about Westminster Cathedral it was at his own expense. He received neither accommodation nor stipend from Westminster diocese.

Like

He has a large detached house in Portrush, not an apartment, I think. I also think the inheritance was large enough to do him for life.

A hell of a lot of priests not in any kind of active ministry let alone busy in a parish. I am out of the loop, but what has Dr Kennedy been doing since the PSNI decided not to prosecute back in 2012? Is there something else not out in the open? What was he supposed to have been doing at More House? It is a hall of residence with plenty of Catholic churches in the area – though none I’d choose viz. The Oratory and Cadogan St – so there is no job for a chaplain. As for that Knights of Malta nonsense … I am sick to the back teeth of the lack of accountability in dioceses. There is a huge amount of trumpeting when some queen gets himself ordained, and then a few years down the line he is mysteriously “absent”, ℅ Cathedral House, or “further studies”. In no other organization would that kind of evasion be possible, yet in the Church it is par for the course – look no further that “Father Daniel’s ( Seward ) absence at the Oxford Oratory. There will be a whole load of Newman bull-shit coming up but the reality is a different story.

Like

In December 2016, Kennedy was suspended again from ministry on account of a complaint of sexual assault against a young man which was (is?) the subject of a PSNI investigation.
He was removed from More House in London at that time and stepped aside from all ministry while the complaint was considered.
The status of this complaint is unknown but, as far as anyone is aware, Kennedy has not been exonerated. So by appearing in his costume at the parade in Lourdes he is in breach of his suspension.

Like

Thank you for the public service announcement. As with Dallat at the girls’ school, it should ( but doesn’t, given what we know about how the Church operates ) beggar belief that Treanor should have permitted a chaplaincy job for Dr Kennedy, or that Nichols should have approved his faculties in Westminster. As for the Knights of Malta, a certain type of clergyman is drawn like a bee to honey to all that nonsense – snobbery, fantasies about lost empires and chivalric orders, as well as the typical queen who is given unrivalled possibilities for dressing up pretending to be a prelate. Sounds like anyone we know?

Like

You must keep up, dear boy. By the time you wrote this, good old Fr Daniel had popped up again at the York Oratory. Leaving the Oxford Oratory without a parish priest, but what do f*cking parishioners matter. The usual “nervous breakdown” crap. Like when Fr Joseph “Dominic” Walsh disappeared a few yers ago (though he came back).
Anyway, Fr Daniel popped up in Oxford recently for the funeral of Bertram. No photos of him now appear in Oxford (since one of him with some pubescent teenagers a year ago), but his happy smiley face is available on the York website. So not so much humble contrition as let’s slip quietly away, then party on elsewhere.

Take a look at Galway sometime Pat. The number ordained in the last twenty or so years that are now in ministry elsewhere or missing in action is astonishing. The number under fifty-five who just could not take the parade of incompetent leaders and skullduggery is very telling. Off the top of my head, in the last five years, one forcibly laicised, one ‘encouraged’ to seek laicisation which he did, one protesting his innocence even though he’s as guilty as sin, one in ministry in Florida, two in ministry in the UK, and three just upped and left.

4. Ex-Army/ Renmore man, protesting his innocence, 2016/15
5. Fr. M O’M,, cracked up in Galway, thriving and happy in Florida as a priest, 2012
6. Fr. D O’M, viciously bullied, the subject of nasty and untrue lies by, among others, the ex-‘R’ mentioned above, left last year, thriving and happy in the UK as a priest, 2018
7. Fr. P O’D, became enamoured with orthodoxy, disillusioned in Galway, left two years ago, thriving in the Society of St. Peter in the UK, 2018
8. 9. and 10. Fr’s. A McG, A B, D C, left the ministry in the last five years

Same everywhere in the UK. The once mighty Archdiocese of Liverpool in meltdown along with all the northern dioceses with no seminary now between them. Only Westminster ( despite or rather because of being a moral cesspit ) holds its end up owing to an influx of ex Anglicans and other dodgy types attracted by all expenses paid housing + benefits. Same maybe true of less glamorous Southwark, and cushy areas such as Arundel and Brighton also picking up ( as it were! ) ex Anglicans. Southern regions of Brum Archdiocese between Oxford and London also popular but I doubt you get many takers for the Black Country. What an absolute shower!

If only it wasn’t so serious, breaching safeguarding limitations on his ministry. I think he might be in a deal of trouble over this.

Has anybody written to the Bishop, the Safeguarding Office, the Order of Malta etc., and asked for an explanation as to why he is cavorting around in Lourdes all dressed up ?

Maybe the newspapers might have to take an interest in order for anybody in D&C to take an interest and take some action ? I’m sure the media are having a quiet look.

Has Armagh not had enough cast offs from Cavan already? Brady from Cavan wasn’t exactly a success story was he? Cavan Priests don’t have a great pedigree! Look at Paul Prior! Look at the Cavan influence in places like the Birmingham Archdiocese of old. They were referred to there in Brum as the “Cavan Mafia”. This is a totally wrong move. How would a Cavan man understand the complexities of the Northern situation given the Brexit scenario and the political landscape there. Totally out of touch and totally far removed from reality appointment.

I take it “Dean of Belfast” was a title he invented for himself as Cathedral Administrator, or was it just a joke? There is a type of cleric who lives for titles and tat. On the website of St Magnus the Martyr, London Bridge, the Anglican vicar styles himself as Cardinal Rector! Definitely one up on the lady bishop, who is unlikely to be invited there.

Fr Hugh Kennedy self-styled himself the Dean of St Peter’s Cathedral, Belfast. As you probably know, the title of dean is usually associated with Anglican cathedrals and a few GB cathedrals use it, but it’s unknown in Ireland.
In St Paul’s cathedral two of the minor canons are called cardinals lol.
