KILLALOE – IS FINTAN MONAHAN A DICTATOR?

SOME PRIESTS ARE CLAIMING THAT FINTAN “LUGS” MONAHAN IS A BIT OF A DICTATOR IN KILLALOE?

They also say he compares very badly with their former beloved bishop, Willie Walsh.

THE DAVID DYSKY CASE

David Dysky was a Killaloe seminarian in Maynooth who was on the teceiving end of an injury under “strange” circumstances.

He is a member of the local Polish community.

Some people and priests feel that this incident was not well handled and that ot was all handled in great secrecy and lack of transparency?

I am told that the Polish Community are unhappy with how Monahan handled this situation. I am told that their displeasure was communicated to Monahan by the local Polish chaplain.

FATHER ANTHONY MC MAHON

Father McMahon, a priest of Killaloe, received Bishop Willie Walsh’s permission to be a British Army chaplain. That permission was extended by the next bishop Ciaran O’Reilly.

Fintan Monahan, according to reports wants to bring this chaplaincy to an end. Father McMahon has only one year left to do to qualify for his army pension. However, word is that Monahan is not allowing this last year and many are very upset.

FATHER FERGAL O NEILL

Father Fergal O’Neill is also a priest of Killaloe.

A parish property was in dire need of renovation of repair.

According to reports he was blocked by his parish council from doing the work.

The case went to Monahan and he told the priest to do what the committee told him.

Again a very upsetting situation.

The Killaloe priests need to come together and organise and let Monahan know that he presides with their permission.

Sounds all small, petty issues to be complaining of. But priests often have to endure these sort of crazy, bizarre, embarrassing moments with their bishop, finance council etc….It seems the Bishop is being accountable for financial resources, needs priests back in parishes and therefore has a right to make necessary decisions. These decisions don’t appear too drastic, in my mind.

A seminarian from killaloe diocese, who was allegedly on the receiving end of an injury under strange circumstances while studying in Maynooth, and it’s alleged handling in lack of openess, transparency
and in secrecy, is to be considered a small petty issue!
Is this ‘par for the course’ in Catholic seminaries or was this seminarian preparing for membership of the KKK.

Pat, since you have no offices to run, or a Diocese to manage; since you can freewheel all about the place, unaccountable to no one, how well you may say this isn’t looking good. You have no real pastoral or hierarchical duties, no commissions to attend, no parishes to administer, so your advice is unwanted, superfluous and intrusive. Look after your own cracked, splintered house.

Before disclosing that a named person has or has not been sexually abused, it would be appropriate and the right thing i.e. the moral thing to do, to seek his permission to publicise the matter. Did you seek such permission? The newspapers will only publish the name of an alleged victim if (s)he waives anonymity.

Like

Dear Pat,
Once again you fail to name the elephant in the room. There is one seminarian who can be connected to every scandal in Maynooth including Grindr, bed bouncing and the Dysky case?

The only dictator I know is Buckley. You pontificate about everyone and everything. You find fault with practically all Catholic Priests. You have little self awareness about your own personal sinfulness and failings. You express your disdain and contempt for anyone with a contrary view; you abuse information given to you about others; you facilitate the worst excesses of vulgarity and abusive behaviour (Magna C) and all too frequently you allow the continuance of gossip, hearsay and innuendo about many individuals whom you despise. Pat, look up the meaning of the word ‘tyrant’ – it may surprise you that it aptly describes much of your behaviour. Strange how we use words about others so freely, never thinking they may also define our own mindset and attitudes!!

If the Institutional catholic church are so so apologetic for child sexual abuse and it’s cover up by bishops, and the abuse of vulnerable adults, let there be openness, honesty and transparency, and let them publish all known ‘credible’ allegations made against clerics in all dioceses and in diocesan files. Then we might consider their apologies to be sincere. Dictatorships in catholicism is nothing new.

If David Dysky was attacked/violated in any way, it’s a matter surely for him to report to the Garda? Does the poor lad want his life discussed on this blog by Buckley and co?
He’s only a young fella but he’s over 18 and he has to be the one in charge of the process of dealing with it (that’s if it even happened!)
If he is a victim of assault and sexual assault, as an adult, his space should be respected. You can’t force adult victims against their will to report.
However, if there were witnesses to the alleged crime, or if David was discovered emotionally distraught and/or physically injured, then those witnesses surely are obliged to go to the authorities?
We have no way of knowing if this incident happened in the way it is being alleged. Nevertheless, if David, his family, the Polish community have concerns, they can make them known and Fintan Monaghan can’t stop them.
The fact that this whole business is being aired by third parties on Buckley’s blog – and not being driven by David and his family – would maybe suggest there is mischief makers at work?

Like

It is a gross exaggeration to claim this ‘poor lad’ is having his life discussed on this blog.
How many other seminarians have been abused, assaulted, harassed and traumatized in Catholic seminaries?
We are discovering what went on in American seminaries in relation to the former, Cardinal Ted, et al. Are we to suppose nothing like that went on, or is going on, in seminaries in the British Isles? Do seminary authorities and the local ordinary not have a duty of care to seminarians? Who funds the seminary? Who funds the seminarians education? Who funds the diocese? Who funds what is rapidly becoming a farcical ‘faith’ with a multitude of farcical hypocritical clergy and hierarchs? Who keeps, what is rapidly becoming a farcial circus, running financially? We do. The laity. And our parents did. And our grandparents. And generations before them.
And we are entitled to question what’s going on in the Church, which is as much our Church as the clerics, particularly in the context of moral corruption, criminality and world wide cover up amongst the clergy and hierarchy. Bishop Buckley, keep up the good work.

The crimes at Oscott were only last year completely denied by the rector and the Archbishop of Birmingham.Who would let their son go to that place ? It’s far worse than Maynooth

Really? Do tell us more about Oscott. Are you referring to the kerfuffle over Father Marsden investigating incidences of self-abuse?

Actually no, Magna, as I was referring to the high frequency and regular occurrence within the sacred precincts rather than to isolated wanks. I should say the whole lot of them were wankers, wouldn’t you agree?

You are wrong.
The poster has chosen to use an abstract noun, incidence, in the plural. This is a perfectly legitimate and appropriate syntactical option. An example of this usage would be “Occurrences of obtuseness from M. Carta are very frequent.”
Bluster and arrogance!

Like

I was indeed wrong, but not for the strange reason you pompously stated.
The correct choice of word in this case (‘incidents’ or ‘incidences’) had nothing whatever to do with an abstract noun, but with whether the poster was referring to individual acts of such abuse, or to the rate of it. As it turned out, he was referring to the rate of such, which I couldn’t have known beforehand.

Like

The issue had indeed everything to do with an abstract noun. The poster used it. You, in your ignorant arrogance thought to correct him/her by saying it ‘should’ be replaced by a common noun. Incidence is an abstract noun; incidences a common noun. The poster’s own explanation rightly corrects your impertinence with a semantic analysis. I did the same using a grammatical and syntactical one. In other words, (s)he provided the (best) practice, I the theory.
Bluff and bluster indeed. Those who claim you were ordained are wrong. You wouldn’t get beyond First Arts in Maynooth.

Like

(Sigh) I shall give this one more try.
If the poster had been referring to acts of self-abuse rather than the rate of such, then the correct phrase would indeed have been ‘incidents of self-abuse’, not ‘incidences of self-abuse’. One cannot ‘choose’ which word to use here; don’t make an absolute fool of yourself. This is determined by a protocol, that is, ‘ by what is being said’, not by some notional impulse as choice.
By the way, the matter is not governed by the rules of grammar or syntax, but by the logic of what the poster was expressing.
Your referring to grammar and syntax here when clearly you don’t know what these terms mean and when to apply them suggests that you need remedial instruction in basic English. There is no shame in that.
I wish you speedy progress.👍

I used to love Lost in Space and especially Dr Smith and his bitchy asides with that hunky second officer. Actually the actor who played him, unlike the vast majority of clergy, wasn’t a queen. But who the hell was Malcolm Arnold? I take it you don’t mean the late composer? The Headmistress was played by Alistair Sim. Just a little digression from the main business in hand. Thinking of Rory and Daniel, what does happen to priests missing in action like Rory and darling Daniel? Are they still housed and paid? There was scandal in Brum a few years ago when a vile character, James Robinson, was tracked down to a caravan park ( suspicious? ) where he had been drawing a monthly salary from the Archdiocese for over twenty years, having been advised to do a runner. I am not suggesting either Rory or Daniel has done anything criminal. Could it be that they are just … what? Gay? Me, dear? No, dear! Just because man lives only with other men and wears a bit of lace … how very dare you!

Like

Sadly the Priests can still claim from the diocese that they were ordained for even when they go missing.
Normally when they go missing or disciplined it starts of Canon Law and it costs the dioceses a fortune as they need to pay the tribunal then it goes to Rome if the priests continues to appeal.
Some are not happy to walk away they like the payments and the private accommodation paid for out of the dioceses by the laity.
Always remember the Church has NO money it is the laity who fund the Church.
