CARDINAL TAGLE – PHILIPPINES – APPOINTED HEAD OF PROPAGANDA FIDE

Pope Francis has appointed Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, archbishop of Manila, Philippines, to lead the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
Tagle, 62, follows Cardinal Fernando Filoni as prefect, usually referred to by its historic name of Propaganda Fide.
Charged with the Church’s missionary works and territories, Propaganda Fide is one of the largest curial departments, with a size and scope exceeding almost any other.
The beneficiary of centuries of dedicated legacies and bequests, Propaganda Fide is also the most financially autonomous curial department.
Praedicate evangelium, the new curial constitution, not yet promulgated, is expected to place an even further emphasis on evangelization as the structural priority of the Church’s mission, with the possible merger of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization into a single larger department.
As the head of a curial department, Tagle will no longer be the archbishop of Manila, a post he has held since December 2011. He was made a cardinal by Benedict XVI in 2012.
Since 2015, he has been president of Caritas Internationalis. Tagle was also very involved in the October 2018 youth synod.
Tagle was born in Manila in 1957 and ordained a priest in 1982 for the Diocese of Imus, Philippines. He served as bishop of Imus from 2001 to 2011.
His episcopal motto is Dominus est(It is the Lord). From 1997 to 2002 he was on the International Theological Commission, appointed by St. Pope John Paul II.
Filoni, who headed Propaganda Fide since 2011, was Dec. 8 named Grand Master of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, following the retirement of Cardinal Edwin O’Brien at the age of 80.
In a statement Dec. 8, O’Brien said he accepts and appreciates the pope’s decision to accept his resignation, appointing Cardinal Filoni as his successor.
The order supports around 80% of the total operating budget of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, supporting parishes, schools, and Christians in Jordan, Palestine, Israel and Cyprus.
“Throughout my more than eight years as Grand Master, my personal faith and love of our Church have deepened as I have witnessed our members’ commitment to the goals of our Order, expressed in different cultures and languages, all profoundly Catholic!” O’Brien said.

PAT SAYS

I used to have hopes that at some stage some authentic charismatic leader might come along and change the corruption in the Church of Rome.

At the beginning I even thought and hoped that Francis might be such a leader.

And there will be people hoping that a future Pope Tagle might be such a man.

But I have now changed my outlook on all of this.

I see no hope of salvation for the Roman Catholic institution.

The problem is that the corruption is too all embracing, too ancient and too entrenched.

And if a truly prophetic man came along, and tried to bring about change he would be resisted absolutely – and if he still kept trying they would literally murder him and then make him a saint.

And by the time you have made your way to be a bishop and above have not already sold your soul to the point that you have become impossible of vision and applying vision.

I used to think of the RCC as a barrel in which there were some bad apples.

Now I see that the barrell is totally rotten and the survival of any good apple is a miracle.

So men like Tagle come along – looking virtuous, simple, hopeful.

And they never achieve anything.

Not even St Jude could do anything for the RCC 😥

Isn’t it amaxing how Buckley has asdumed such twisted, perverted think I g? The guy is so blig sex by bigotry, hatred, bias and anti Catholic rhetoric that he’s incapable of recognising any goodness, possibility or vision in other clerics. Pat, if you are half as virtuous as some of the many priests and laity I encounter, I’d have a little respect for your opinion. You are full of hopelessness, despair, cynicism and hard heartedness that it must be difficult for God to break through into your heart!

10.33: We have every right to challenge the bias, twisted and sinister anti Catholicism as expressed by Pat. He needs to open his eyes to see the wonderfully good work, initiatives and outreach programmes initiated by religious and clerics along with their parish communities. It is so unkind to make wide sweeping judgments condemning all. Criticism, yes: hate filled rhetoric, no. Absolutely not which is the motivation behind many of Pat’s crazy scribbles. Thank God for the many clerics who, despite their flaws and sins, try their best in very changed and testing situations.

Pat, be wary. Eamon Martin and the Irish News have started a smear campaign against You. Rory Coyle also involved. Can’t say anymore at present.

11.13: Pat deserves scrutiny by others as he violates the principles of justice, fairness, truth, decency and objectivity on all issues regarding clerics. He thinks he can print what he likes about his perceived enemies. Pat forgets the admonition of Jesus – “Pray for those who persecute you….love your enemies…”..Living this idealism requires spiritual and moral courage and integrity.

That will be interesting, what are they going to accuse Pat of, covering up the actions of paedophiles? Moving them from parish to parish at the detriment of ruining untold innocent lives?
Abusing seminarians? You get the picture.
This blog is simply discussing the big fat elephant in the room because the RC heirachy are unwilling to do so.
If a victim speaks up and sees this blog, they may well feel hope and feels sense of support through the most difficult time of their life.
This blog is necessary.

Rory has not been “destroyed”. He is having to renegotiate his life after a crisis. It will make him a better person. Of course it has been a challenging and painful time for him. I’m sure Rory does not blame me.

Like

12.09: The verb is renegotiate. … Pat, you contributed immensely to Rory’s difficulties. You allowed him to be steamrolled into the ground by the vind8ctiveness of others. Once you get your pound of flesh and see individuals damaged even more, you have fulfilled your mission. How utterly distasteful, unkind and un-CHRIST-LIKE. Utterly. Your Christianity is fraudulent and morally bankrupt. Watched a video of you with Michael Nugent and I’m wondering what your chaplaincy to Atheist Ireland brings you in benefit. Incidentally your contribution was very shallow – all the hallmarks of your ever present anti catholic rhetoric. Awful video.

Rory has no one to blame but himself. He knew exactly what he was doing, and he was embarking on the time honoured clerical life path of living two parallel lives, one in private and the other in public. As, in my experience, the vast majority of clergy do. He’d probably still be carrying on in that vein if he had the sense not to start getting all high and mighty and preaching hard line stuff about marriage, relationships, sex, LGBTQ etc., etc. That’s what really pisses people off. Hypocrisy. And I’d say that was the beginning of his little local difficulty when someone got fed up with his self-righteous hypocrisy. Hopefully he will have learned his lesson, and whichever way he decides to go, I wish him well. But, if he decides that he still wants to be a priest, then he needs to live the life of a priest as required, and not think he can fool about and fool us. Just like Dallat, there will be people watching him.

I actually laughed out loud at this. Because obviously getting his dick out on grindr did not contribute to his downfall at all!
Keep going, Pat, that’s exactly the kind of mentality you are fighting against, and as you have repeatedly indicated here, everything about you is out in public and you have no assets for them to sue for.

To any clerics thinking Pat Buckley is being horrible or unfair to you, you are idiots, ignoring the reality of the unholy abusive mother church you belong to and I really wonder what you are frightened of.

11.18: No Pat, vitriol doesn’t bother you but your vitriol towards others is very damaging. Could you give some Christian consideration to your constant stream of negativity. You throw buckets of ice on every initiative taken by clerics andvrelugiiys. You are a nasty piece behind the charade of supposed Christian tolerance and compassion and justice. Brcaware of the horrible ugliness of your words.

Another vicious reply from the social media circle today. Pat, have you heard how Jeremy Corbyn has called you on radio today one of the clerics who helped the peace process along with Des Wilson. He seems to have a lot of inside info.

I have not heard that. I did my very best for my parishioners on the Falls Road Kilkeel and Larne. I have no regrets.

Bishop Pat, Suzanne Breen has said she is fond of you on the Bel Tel article. People like Morris on the Irish News and her equally lard ass friend Patricia McBride hate men. This is how the impartial BBC spends money on these types commentating after making very personal attacks. I rest my case

If God wanted, in His mercy, to change a corrupt clerics heart, He could afflict that cleric to give him time to convert before he died!
