9.33: Millions throughout the world will celebrate the beauty of this Feast in their homes, with friends by skipe, by watching EWTN. Sadly, too many people are closed to God’s gift of mercy. When able to embrace this gift, it brings many blessings. Thank God for Pope St. John Paul 11 for this Feast Day. PRAY for this gift, irrespective of who instituted it. I was in Poland 2 years ago and was so inspired by the packed churches on a Sunday afternoon praying the Divine Mercy Prayer. It is beautiful.

I know this wasn’t your intention, but I couldn’t help but think of your example over ther years throughout it: you are likely the only priest in the whole of Ireland, and across the UK, who was unwilling to turn a blind eye to the corruption and filth in his church; the only priest who was not prepared to turn wilfully blind.

Your example threw into sharp relief the Cain and Abel nature of Romanist priesthood: the moral cowardice of the vast majority of priests in these islands, toeing an increasingly rotted Church line out of self-interest, while you risked everything to expose injustice.

What defines these men is not the oft-trumpeted goodness we keep hearing about on this blog (and for which evidence is never produced), but their spineless servitude to revolting men like Noel Treanor, and Eamon Martin.

People who fund the institutional Romanist Church, despite now knowing its true and morally decrepit character, are worse than wilfully blind, because they know the corruption thst exists, the sponging indolence of Romanist moochers, and the fact that none of these parasites, scroungers, and Christ-betrayers will ever risk his, er, ‘career’ by publicly and openly protesting the rot.

I think the dynamics of wilful blindness within the Rcc are multilayered.
It seems to me, the clerical fraternity comes first, and God forbid a priest breaks ranks by saying it as he sees it. There is not a ‘crisis’ or ‘scandals’ in the Church.
The rotten underbelly, a rotten culture, is being exposed.
Too many supposedly moral spiritual leaders prefer to, hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil, particularly when it’s within their own institution.
Those who consider themselves ontologically altered are ever so so human.
Does being ontologically altered bring with it psychological derangement?
The policy in the Rcc was to cover up abuse.
Shuffling priests around the world continues, as does covering up.
Are these people in leadership thick!! By the way, does anyone know how many priest abusers turned themselves into the police, following the Popes call for them to do so?
Even the mask of arrogant moral superiority within the Vatican is crumbling.
Thousands of lives have been ruined by the institutional Church. ( For the sake of the clerical caste).

I have expressed on this blog deep loathing and contempt for Romanist priesthood and priests, and I stand by every word of this, given the refusal of the vast majority of these parasites, scroungers, spongers, moochers, Christ-betrayers and cowards to speak out publicly and openly against the corruption and filth in their evil institutional church. But recently I came across one Romanist, an American, who may be a mould-breaker. Fr Mark White, of the Diocese of Richmond in Virginia, was recently sacked by his bishop from his position as pastor after he continued criticising , on his blog, the Romanist episcopate (including His Oiliness, the Bishop of Rome) for their handling of the sexual abuse of children by dirty, scrounging, mooching, Romanist, Christ-betraying priests.

White set up his blog in 2008 to publish such things as his homilies. But then his publications took a more critical bent towards the institutional Church. His bishop was not best pleased, and in 2019 paid him an unexpected visit, ordering the blog closed. White complied, but then the Coronavirus Pandemic came along, and White reopened the blog to keep in touch with parishoners in self-isolation. Inevitably, given the inherently seedy nature of the institution he serves, he again became openly critical of the Romanist episcopate. His bishop reacted more strongly this time by dismissing White from his parish. The bishop tried to justify his action to White’s parishoners by telling them that their pastor had been divisive, and had harmed the unity of ‘Holy Mother Church’.

But isnt this the very excuse that the Romanist episcopate expressed for generations for the cover-up of child-sexual abuse by dirty, perverted, paedophile, work-shy, scrounging, mooching, Romanist priests? The avoidance of ‘scandal’, and the consequential undermining of trust in the so-called ‘hierarchy’ of the Church?

Well, these parasites are still doing it: seeking to cover-up. They have learned nothing, and they want to learn nothing,despite the rising sludge of corruption and cover-up with which we all are now routinely familiar.

And their lackeys, the ordinary Romanist scrounger and moocher in the parish, continue to keep their heads down: continue to turn wilfully blind to the corruption and evil surrounding them in the perverse institution they willingly serve over Christ.

Fr Mark White, I salute you, because the overwhelming majority of your Romanist colleagues are USELESS and SPINELESS.

Yes, it’s a very tricky landscape for those who “tirelessly labour”. They are wise to hide their light under a bushel, keep their head below the parapet etc etc. We see all too often the flip side of goodness, greatness and holiness. JP II and his failed theology of the body and protection of the financial fund raising wiz kid Maciel of the Legionaries of Christ; Mother Teresa and her iron authoritarian hold on her order and he blithe disregard for healing over saving souls for Christ by allowing them to die; McCarrick and his networking skills on behalf of the Church and fundraising; KOB as the culture wars rottweiler and upholder of Catholic moral theology etc etc. Even if there are “good” priests out there, let them reflect that they all by default are implicit supporters and upholders of a clerical institution and culture which has been shown to be rotten and sinful. So, just like Nazis who said they were just following orders, and whose justification for their support for the regime was discounted at trial, so priests should reflect on the judgement that we have every right to make on them. They are all guilty and implicit in wickedness no matter how “good” they believe they are or how distanced they consider themselves from the sins committed by their fellow priests and the institutional of the Church. And still, so few of them are prepared to come out and denounce what has happened in their name. Too much to lose, I guess ?! Too interested in their own comfort ?!

Yes, and the ones who are never cited as examples are even more interesting, and the apologists are limited to a few examples.
Over here in England we could name Elsie who surely as the metropolitan of Westminster should provide an example but is notorious for treating people like shit. Then there’s Nursie whose archdiocese got dragged through iicsa and was shown to be a shambles. The religious aren’t exempt either. There’s that oratorian who vanished and whose name is mentioned now and then, and do I even need to say Farnborough Abbey for what an abbot should not be?
The apologists then go on to say that critics won’t find a perfect community, which is more bull, because it is reasonable to expect a community where crime is not fostered and the clergy are not shagging anything that comes into view.
What separates the church from, say, workplaces is that workplaces give employees behavioural expectations in their contract and if they don’t stand by the expectations they will find a tribunal telling them what to do.

The problem is abuse, corruption and crime within the institutional Church. Highlighting criminality,abuse and corruption in the Catholic Church is the raison d’etre for this blog. If good priests joined as a collective to challenge inept leadership matters might change. That takes moral courage, and it’s unlikely to happen.
I know a priest covering up. I know a bishop supporting the cover up.

The title of today’s blog is ‘wilful blindness’. + Nichols of Westminster was wilfully blind about those abused long past when it was understandable, and only came to an ‘appreciation’ when he was hauled up before IICSA. + Longley, nice man though he may be, was wilfully blind about safeguarding provision in his diocese, until he knew he was going to be hauled up before IICSA and he then put in some reviews, which told him how bad it was. I doubt if either man would still be CEO of any company, small or large, in the real world with their blatant omissions and mistakes. + Nichols will retire from Westminster in the next year or so, largely unloved and unmissed by the bulk of his clergy to whom he acts with coldness and distain. Except the few favourites. + Longley has only just turned 65 and has another decade to go, I suspect staying on in Birmingham to the bitter end. He ain’t going anywhere now. He might be relieved ! Wilful blindness appears to be a prerequisite for priests and bishops, an ability to stick with the institution at all costs, out of blind loyalty and all consuming self-interest, and an ability to not have the courage to call out what they know is an institution and system that is dysfunctional and disordered, and is the cause of so much pain and harm. There are many things happening in these days that are going to be an existential threat to the Roman Catholic Church – abuse, coverup, corruption, loss of trust and confidence, dysfunctional apparatchiks, a discredited clerical culture…… If the Church remains wilfully blind it is going to go under. 1. They will not have a major reputation for great work or holiness on the Internet.
2. They will react to comments on this blog by horror at the church’s behaviour and with none of the diversion tactics used here so often.
3. They will not deny having knowledge of things going wrong in their order or diocese and will have taken steps to put this right, such as going to the Roman Rota.
4. I would expect them to have been severely punished for 3. And to have met a wall of solid resistance.
5. Finally they will have been forced to go public when their efforts failed.

Currently I can count two priests who meet this criteria. So there are good priests.

All very true at 11:18am. Some salutary reminders of stuff which never gets explained until it is dragged out. The appalling Eugene Fitzpatrick was listed ℅ Archbishop’s House Westminster for years while living quietly in Kent until his conviction for multiple offences. Meanwhile in Birmingham it took a Channel 4 reporter to track down James Robinson in a trailer park in USA where he had been living on a salary paid monthly by the Archdiocese for decades. Perhaps the apologists think IICSA was too hard on Elsie and Nursie? After all they do do wonderful work, handing over their parishes to the Ordinariate and that kind of thing.

A good but short article in today’s Sunday Independent highlights the wonderful work of hospital chaplains, lay and clerical. They represent the majority of priests who in hospitals, nursing homes and parishes are ministering meaningfully and caringly. Last week our parish had ten funerals, five covid related deaths: sux funerals are already confirmed for this coming week, four covid related. It is very difficult and upsetting to see so much grief, pain and utter confusion. Thank God all our funerals are in the context of the Mass and we feel we are comforting the bereaved. Age Group so far is from 79 – 94. It is a life changing experience. Apart from these covid related death we have deaths through cancer and other life threatening illnesses. God help us all at this time.

I was, however, suggesting that the dysfunctional relationship between clergy and seminarians is not as clear cut as the abuse by priests of younger people – or indeed vulnerable adults. This blog has demonstrated beyond doubt that there are some very bold ladies indeed among seminarians, who have absolutely no compunction at all about fluttering their eyes at desperate old queens among the clergy and letting them pick up the bill. Pretty exploitative for sure, but who is exploiting whom? At the end of the line of course it is the laity who fund dinners at The Shelburne and beach parties at Sitges – the usual suckers.

I have just read in Crux that Pope Francis has warned there is a worse virus than Covid-19: indifference to the poor.

Well, I suppose His Oiliness can speak with authority here, since, for years, he has been indifferent to the cries of a certain poor in Argentina: those sexually abused by pervert media priest, Fr Grassi, and for whom His Oiliness attempted to move Heaven and Earth to help by trying to sway appeal-court judges.

Heaven was not on His Oiliness’ side, and he failed.

I hold a senior position in the Irish church. The Kildorrery incident shocked me to the roots. The worst I’ve ever heard, apart from CSA. Pat Buckley, whom I have never met, was absolutely right to bring it out into the open. The incident has serious consequences for the clergy and Maynooth. Some at my level have suggested what actions need to be taken, including the non ordination of certain individuals and the departure of a number of priests permanently. We have not been able to get people to agree on this matter yet. Our “stables” need a big clear out, including the departure of certain serial “jockies”.

Pat. I am sickened by the Priest Fr Grant of Carfin Grotto. He held A Divine Mercy Service at the Grotto today at 3pm and many turned up. Check their Facebook page. All sat in their cars or on provided seating. At the beginning he encouraged them to stay 2 metres apart. Is he totally mad? He has actively allowed people to participate in this which is against all public health rules. He should be jailed.
