EAMON MARTIN’S BIG “H” PROBLEM.

My old Friend Monsignor John Shine of Waterford, RIP, used to refer to homosexuality among the clergy as the “H” problem.

Globally the RCC has a massive H problem and the priesthood is now a gay profession.

In Ireland, the diocese with the biggest H problem seems to be Armagh.

There have been the well publicised cases of Rory Coyle, Master of Ceremonies to The Wounded Healer and Amy.

Then there was Father McCamley, PP Keady and Diocesan Director of the Lourdes Pilgrimage.

Then there was Fr McVeigh of Pomeroy who “accidentally” showed 16 indecent pictures of men to a parent’s Holy Communion gathering.

So, clearly, Armagh and Eamon have a big H problem.

But that is not all. For years now rumours have been in clerical circulation about the Gay Sex Fest that is Maynooth – and of how some of Amy’s men are at the heart of it.

  • Seminarians providing sexual services for Ireland’s bullish priests.
  • Gay sex on the altar of Kildorerry parish church.
  • visits to gay saunas in European cities.
  • cosy meals and overnight hotel stays for older and younger clerks.
  • Rumours of an odd bishop or two being involved.
  • Special times in Gay Paris.
  • Special times in sunny Barcelona.
  • Frantic Grindr activities.
  • Physical nocturnal injuries.
  • Nervous breakdowns.
  • Financial settlements.
  • Former seminarians on silence retainers.
  • Seminary staff protected for years by bishops who knew what was going on.

Eamon Martin has a big decision to make just now.

Let us watch and see what he does.

In the meantime all those with information and evidence have a major moral duty to step forward.

All true, I think. While you were going to press, I was reading about Gay Byrne, who in his own way brought a welcome breath of honesty to Ireland. Some may remember the “Bishop and the nightie” scandal way back in the sixties during the iron grip of John Charles McQuaid. Actually the bishop was a nice man, by all accounts, “Dr” Thomas Ryan of Clonfert: the case is summarized in the following link:

https://www.irishtimes.com/opinion/an-irishman-s-diary-1.109578

My attention was drawn to HIs Lordship’s domestic arrangements, which were a far cry from those enjoyed by – amongst many others – Dom Athelstan Rutherford. “Dr” Ryan talked nonsense, because he believed that was expected of him. I suspect the same is true of Archbishop Eamon Martin, by no means a bad man, but is not only out of his depth but is obliged – or so he wrongly thinks – to make decisions – or not – in which he does not actually believe. What a relief it would be were the RC clergy able to say what they think, rather than what they believe they ought to think. Try it: it’s called integrity.

Bishop Pat, Thanks for saying Certainly to Archbishop Eamon and that is only right.

You know in management sometimes your last to know or think who is the thief so I am glad that you are saying go to the Archbishop direct.

I am not sticking up for Archbishop Eamon but he is busy and gets all this gossip and some truth’s, so it is hard for him.

+ Pat you know these priests or so called priests know the rules inside out and are clever or they think they are but what is in their favour is the time it takes in Canon Law.

On here they were saying Tom McHugh was his personal secretary do they think Archbishop Eamon is mad given the farmers story.

look on the web site there is four admin assistants and furthermore all communications should go through the Chancellor of the Archdiocese.

So come on all those in the know write or email direct to the Archbishop and give him a chance.

As a side issue remember a cardinal has to be appointed soon to Ireland and he certainly will not want it to go to Dublin.

Isn’t contributing to the financial support of pastors a law of the Church?

Are laity financially contributing to fund-; visits to gay Paris, sauna sessions
in European cities, special times in sunny Barcelona, overnights in hotels wining
and dining, financial hush money and settlements, etc.

Also, millions spent redecorating, winter holidays in the sun, junkets abroad to
lecture to the converted , Lourdes fun field, and God only knows what else is going on.

The ‘H’ problem will soon result in the ‘F’ problem- ” Finance.”

Solution: they can f*** *** and find employment to fund their fun-filled decadent lifestyles!!

Correct. They ‘act’ out of Institutional interest to protect assets.. It’s window dressing for the public, trying to be perceived as being concerned. They don’t give a monkey’s. I have to see a human rights lawyer. I gave Church authorities an opportunity to discuss my case.
I was lied to as well as misrepresented, but the smart arses unwittingly dug a hole for themselves going forward. You’re likely to find more Christianity in the moonies than in some of these Catholic company men.

Like

This is not clever. They should outsource it all to an asset management group I know. The “F” will always stay secure there.

Like

9.15 yes. But now the merry-go-round of “safeguarding professionals” (under whom assets don’t fall) are also with us, all the ingredients are to hand for non-recurrence of the old teething problems. Dioceses will be the only front people, and will continue to take all the heat.

1055 and 1057, you are right, that apparently would be entirely fatal to it. Perhaps we should get the “relationships education” squad onto it?

And before we recommend that dropout support groups should have a hand in it, ask a certain top Institute what its line on those is.

An RC problem can’t be fixed from within the RC system AND its tentacles paid for from elsewhere. If it hurt you, you are not RC, don’t look to it. It’s no use saying (any more) “but I want to be RC”. Look to the wide world.

What a joke.

Do you have NO credit for the PROFESSIONAL’s doing safeguarding as they are not going to risk their professionalism for a Bishop.

Bishops MUST act to the law now the days of cover up are long gone.

Like

7.50, I agree with you on textbook cases, I should have made it clear I was referring to the complicated situations that certain elements create specially, e.g around church-related entities that are exempted from safeguarding arrangements even though plainly containing under 16s and other overtly vulnerable people (and there are some) (details unavailable even on request, for health reasons)

Like

Further to my 1130. I was partly thinking of such entities (asset management) as I describe there.

However, there is the additional sort of cases, of seminarians, much related here. Some seminarians named in comments over the months were to my knowledge (before it was discussed here) subjected to bullying which they did not attract, and which was not sorted out by high profile faculty. Seminarians are not safeguardable because they are over 16.

Bishops are not safeguardable and I know of blood curdling things being done to some bishops by individuals claiming church connections.

The safeguarding “industry” is solely about what is done to under 16s and solely by priests (perhaps teachers also?) and then only if sexual. Their main activity is periodic checks. I’m not knocking that per se. The centralised industry seems uninterested in it ever extending beyond that.

Priests that were bullied by another priest under incitement by an outside party don’t have anyone to look out for them.

Not all wrongs are overtly sexual.

There are even cases of seminarians belonging to asset management organisations. Abandon hope ye.

FFS, spare us Volaris and the dead squirrel on his head ! And, Church Militant’s search for sexual dirt wherever it can find it.

That aside, there has evidently been a homosexualisation of the Catholic priesthood. You only need to look around. In itself, orientation is not, and should not be, a problem. I know many homosexual teachers, doctors, policemen, lawyers, politicians, shopkeepers, labourers, factory workers. They are quite able to carry on their chosen profession while being homosexual. And so should clergy. Orientation is not the problem. Behaviour is the problem. Priests. of whatever orientation, are required and agree to be celibate and chaste. Whether you agree with it or not. That is what is required and that is what they promise. The problem comes when their behaviour in this matter does not match what they publicly profess. That does the damage. So, a simple solution is for all priests, of whatever orientation, to take their vows and promises seriously. Or get out. Then we would have a clergy that is settled in its orientation, and bringing whatever gifts that orientation bestows for the benefit of the Church.
