God Almighty Pat. Wonersh has changed since my day. In my time, it was run by a German Irish Nun. The Principle at the time, a Mr Jeremy Garrett, couldn’t be arsed. So the German Nun was put in charge. I didn’t last long, I had to get out!

Dear me, all this “look at me” culture with seminarians and young priests ! They need to take a holiday from YouTube and keep a low profile and knuckle down to what they should be doing.
Also, the comings and goings and antics of these seminarians and young priests, whether they stay or leave or move on to new things or get themselves in to all sorts of messes, is an indication that the Church has not got it right in its candidate selection, seminary formation, and on going formation and oversight during the first few years of ordination. You only have to look at the cast of characters that have received some exposure on this blog – Rory, John Paul Lyttle, Gorgeous, the lardy guy in the jockstrap, Jolly, and yes, even Littlemaniple and his ridiculous antics. All these characters are canaries in the mine warning us that things are not right.
Will bishops and those charged with formation do anything about it ? Probably not, because it is a culture that they seem to come from themselves and appear to condone – endless second chances, time out, sabbaticals, working on special projects as an excuse for being furloughed, ongoing financial and accommodation support for the ‘disappeared’ etc.
Even further, is it not time that the Catholic Church had a root and branch review of what it really means to be a priest – asking questions about mandatory celibacy, about the lived culture of priesthood, clericalism, and yes, even women priests, not to mention having an outlook that values people for who they are rather than what their sexuality or relationships happen to be. Bottom line is that all is not well, and it is fast going to fail catastrophically if they do not see the signs of the times. At present, the Church survives in spite of our bishops and priests.

Whatever happened to the act of charity? I have read all the vicious remarks made over the last few weeks about Fr Peter Littleton. Whoever is writing these comments claims to have been a seminarian at Wonersh. Is it a characteristic of the seminarians there that they are vicious, uncharitable and ruthless? Or is it just a minority of the seminarians? I have witnessed these characteristics among many gay men among the laity.
As far as John Promise is concerned-how on earth was he able to become an ordained priest? The seminary has failed him and the wider church in his lack of formation. Talking of nutter!
I watched Joe Meigh’s videos last night. I don’t understand why he took them down and I don’t understand what “he instigated”. Perhaps someone could elaborate. He looks like an over pious lad with a high opinion of himself and probably typical of what I perceive to be the types at Wonersh..

I think you will find that there are a number of correspondents on this blog who have things to say about Littleplonker and his nauseating performances with birettas, maniples, and his high pitched excruciating homilies. Solution ? Keep a low profile, shut up, ditch the maniples and biretta, stop regurgitating formulaic Church teaching that you don’t even understand, and it will all go away. However, it seems to me that he has been counselled just to keep going and pushing on. Wrong tactic.

I think maybe the time has come for people to leave off ridiculing Peter Littleton. Yes, he is in part the author of his own misfortune, particularly those excruciating videos expounding arcane areas of traditional Catholic theology, and the rather strange liturgical vestments he appears to be wearing, in particular a maniple. i’m not sure he is the kind of robust character that is able to cope with this kind of attention, and I would not want to hear that he had flipped and had a nervous breakdown or worse topped himself – no doubt using a cincture or girdle of the right liturgical colour of the season. I reckon he’s been the centre of attention and mirth for long enough, so time for correspondents to desist. I think that there are some questions to be asked about someone like Peter Littleton, and his long slog through the seminary, and evident questions being asked about hs suitability. But, that is the case with so many seminarians it would appear. Bishops are just so desperate to find bodies that they are inclined to take pretty much anything and overlook all the warning signs. + Egan in Portsmouth is a prime case. JPL and JohnPromise being cases in point.

What we are seeing in the RCC in UK today is the reflection of the formation these men are receiving or the lack of it. Since lockdown has started and churches closed how many outpored their ego on social media? These are men in dire need of appreciation, and want to be seen.
Why are bishops not held accountable for what is happening? Why has Oakley been made bishop after what he allowed to happen in Oscott? The lost can be quite long of priests who live a double life but these are the ones who get away with anything and do as they please. I bet that Davies had something going on in Oscott and maybe Seery and Hilton were involved there, same for Wonersh, how could he get away with it?

Pat, I’m genuinely puzzled. In my time in Maynooth the heterosexual sems were very much in the majority. Those suspected by the deans were dismissed, and those in the closet stayed in the closet. 1980s Maynooth wasn’t the time or the place for acting out of gay behaviour.
It is now very obvious that most sems are gay. With their gaydar on they must spot on another a mile off. In modern seminaries do they break the ice very quickly and say they are gay, or is there still a farce of ignoring the elephant in the room. Is the behaviour open or a secret?

Announced this afternoon. The Oscott Spiritual Directors are being recalled to their specific dioceses and reassigned. I think Marsden heavily criticised them.

Oh, is this the first act of decisive leadership by the new Rector Gillian Howard ? It’s not taken her long to swing the handbag and take off a few heads. Ooohhh, how exciting ! I love it when blood is shed on the carpet. You never know who is going to be next. There will be a few Oscott staff shaking in their beds tonight.

You mean change the ‘intrinsically disordered’ bit ? God forbid ! Standards must be maintained. I mean, if you change that we will have to change all the other stuff about women, and purgatory, and Miraculous Medals, and St Jude, and the Virgin Birth, and Resurrection of the Body……the list goes on. Who do these LGTBQIers think that they are ? Special ? I’m going to have to have another swig of the Palo Cortado. I keep the Fino for lunchtimes. Oh, I’m quite beside myself at the very thought of having to change millennia of Church teaching.

He’s doing it for absent family and friends, and for those who would like to attend the service but may not, owing to restrictions on social distancing.
What on earth is wrong with that? Consideration for others is being expressed, and you find cause to mock this young man’s efforts?

The present Parish Priest of Coalisland is probably one of the most honourable men I have ever come across…though we would not share world outlook.
Brady wanted him as secretary …..Eugene declined and gave his reasons …..Brady was incensed (Lol Lol Lol)……so he decided to punish him….knowing of his elderly parents and how proximate and good he was to them…..appointed him to Drogheda ( always punishment…even for the PP ” who will take Drogheda” ( maybe 80-100 years old that clerical poem)……Eugene with some help resisted….Brady told Carroll ( a sycophant if ever there was one ) to publish Eugenes name in the Bulletin with the appointment. At that stage, I who did not know Eugene stepped in….with a few others…..Brady who liked being popular ( not with me. Lol Lol) relented. The unjust punishment for refusing to serve in that regime did not come to pass. Oh, the rot of it all….
To be fair to Eamonn Martin, he is neither a sycophant nor does he mind being unpopular…something admirable in those….and I am no Admirer….

You’re plainly not acquainted with Jeremiah, chapter 23.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=+Jeremiah+23&version=ESV
For example, verses 13 and 14 —
In the prophets of Samaria
I saw an unsavory thing:
they prophesied by Baal
and led my people Israel astray.
But in the prophets of Jerusalem
I have seen a horrible thing:
they commit adultery and walk in lies;
they strengthen the hands of evildoers,
so that no one turns from his evil;
all of them have become like Sodom to me,
and its inhabitants like Gomorrah.

To Joseph Lolkard it mesns that God is not mocked without due punishment. He will punish all those who mock him, just as he punished the Israelites by allowing their conquest and Sodom and Gomorrah their destruction,

I’m eighty and very under-the weather, but to brief that video is rddled with rubbish.
One obvious point is that the Canterbury Tales are so called because the pilgrims were going to Canterbury, the shrine of Thomas a Becket.

This video makes the rededication of England as Mary’s Dowry even more bizarre.
It smacks of a past age of Christendom anyway and if Joe is right about what the word meant in mediaeval times, well using a word in a sense completely different to how anyone understands it now is ridiculous.
I started off that video a Catholic but will certainly now be considering alternatives.

The sound was poor on Bernard’s clip but it sounded like a second year not much beyond 30 was saying he has “finished philosophy”, as if that is the attitude the Church needs . . .
Now when the holiest thing in the universe depends on clerics handling their altar wine, we not only have the Moet, but lovingly lingering and longing glances at all the beer in St John’s. Check out what brewery supplies the latter because it might get spiked.
I see the many ex-Valladolids all go to finishing school nearer home. Have I been getting this wrong and is what we are seeing, in fact an airlift or rescue attempt?

The laity are not stupid. They realise that England is full of protestant sects, promiscuity, abortion, women priests, Satanism, DNA editing and pure evil. The catholic bishops may be living in ivory towers and be removed from reality but that doesn’t mean that anyone in their right mind, let alone a seminarian, should support their ridiculous actions. The bishops don’t need encouragement they need a wake up call. Put your own house right and make it fit for Mary.!
