IRISH GOVERNMENT REJECTS ARCHBISHOPS REQUEST TO REOPEN CHURCHES FOR MASS.

The Irish Government were quite right to reject the bishops request to reopen churches for Mass.

Of course, for us Catholic Christians Mass and the sacraments are very important sources of God’s grace.

But God is not limited to the sacraments in providing his grace.

In fact Jesus not only told us that where two or three gathered he would be with them but went on to tell us that the best way to pray was to lock ourselves into our room and pray to our Father who is in that secret place.

Everything has changed with this awful pandemic and for now our spiritual lives have to change as well.

The home should ideally the cradle of the faith – although we realise that was probably never true.

The faith has been passed on mainly by the schools.

But perhaps now is a time to bring the faith back home – by the reading of the Bible, prayers like the Risary etc.

Many people also suspect that the bishops and priests want the people back because they are missing the money?

Many people may not return to church again?

Gatherings of people cause Covid to spread.

Church services are gathering of people.

The government must protect lives and health.

And these days the “purple parliament” of Maynooth have no power – thank God 😃

ABBOT PURCELL CASE STILL NOT RESOLVED.

Mr. Hourigan, whoever he really is, should really pray for his own “metanoia” – renewal in the way of Jesus and the virtues of his gospel. Can he answer me the question put to him earlier. What would his attitude be if his Cistercian relatives were not as virtuous or holy as he believes? Would he be so condemnatory? Or if a family member fell so publicly? Hypothetical but not beyond possibility!!

@11:24

I loathe institutional hypocrisy, however, it would appear to be a requisite to be a hypocrite to be appointed the Bishop of Killaloe. But, in answer to your question, I would be the first to publicly acknowledge their hypocrisy. And, if my relative happened to be the Abbot of Mount Melleray, I would demand he resigned IMMEDIATELY, and would have no problem bringing the matter to the personal attention of the Abbot General (which I have done today), and if necessary to other authorities in due course. None of us are perfect, however, the behaviour Richard Purcell is not a one-off aberration.

4.55: Me thinks you protesteth too much, dear lady! You are not the moral guardian of any group in society. You have of course, suddenly realised that YOU and WE are not perfect. But obviously your state is more perfect than others which, in you comments, gives you the greater luxury of pulling the plank out of other people’s eyes first. If we are talking about child safeguarding issues, civil authorities must be informed immediately. Who are the other authorities you speak of in relation to your quest for “truth” and “accountability”? Are you so pure, so perfect, so Christ-like that you can be so assuredly self righteous? I would not send a broken, wounded or morally wrongful person to you for kindness. You’d crush them further. And I would not like you to be my brother’s keeper!! There’s a whiff of arrogant hypocrisy about your behaviour.

It’s obvious that your pastoral responsibilities and sensitivities are non existent. You never miss an opportunity to slay the Catholic Bishops. There are hundreds of Catholics, thousands perhaps, who truly long for public Mass as soon as possible. My heart grieves for them but I believe that the best response is to stay with the guidelines for now. My concern is that all of us in our country are irrevocably changed by covid 19. Our interactions with one another are changed: our presence with one another is changed: our sense of Church and community are changed: our politics are changed: our expressions of faith and spirituality are challenged. I believe we will have diminished congregations after covid 19. Some changes will be absolute but I think it’s wrong to sneer at and rejoice about the present situation which the Church finds itself in. We need kindness and tolerance and respect, not contempt.

Dr Doom was given unlimited funds and had about 6 months to organise contact tracing, ICU beds and extra staff. He failed in all three objectives. He has not an iota of an idea how the economy works. He would fit in quite well with most of the Irish hierarchy, incompetent and when things go wrong he tries to cover up as he did with the cervical check scandal and the shambles that is contact tracing.

OPEN LETTER
To the President of the United States of America
Donald J. Trump/> Solemnity of Christ the King
Mister President,
Allow me to address you at this hour in which the fate of the whole world is being threatened by a global conspiracy against God and humanity. I write to you as an archbishop, as a successor of the Apostles, as the former apostolic nuncio to the United States of America. I am writing to you in the midst of the silence of both civil and religious authorities. May you accept these words of mine as the “voice of one crying out in the desert” (John 1:23).

Event 201 Panelists discussed pandemic preparedness
just before the COVID outbreak spurred global lockdowns
As I said when I wrote my letter to you in June, this historical moment sees the forces of evil aligned in a battle without quarter against the forces of good — forces of evil that appear powerful and organized as they oppose the children of Light, who are disoriented and disorganized, abandoned by their temporal and spiritual leaders.
Daily we sense the attacks multiplying of those who want to destroy the very basis of society: the natural family, respect for human life, love of country, freedom of education and business. We see heads of nations and religious leaders pandering to this suicide of Western culture and its Christian soul, while the fundamental rights of citizens and believers are denied in the name of a health emergency that is revealing itself more and more fully as instrumental to the establishment of an inhuman, faceless tyranny.
A global plan called the Great Reset is underway. Its architect is a global élite that wants to subdue all of humanity, imposing coercive measures with which to drastically limit individual freedoms and those of entire populations. In several nations this plan has already been approved and financed; in others it is still in an early stage. Behind the world leaders who are the accomplices and executors of this infernal project, there are unscrupulous characters who finance the World Economic Forum and Event 201, promoting their agenda.
The purpose of the Great Reset is the imposition of a health dictatorship.Tweet
The purpose of the Great Reset is the imposition of a health dictatorship aiming at the imposition of liberticidal measures, hidden behind tempting promises of ensuring a universal income and canceling individual debt. The price of these concessions from the International Monetary Fund will be the renunciation of private property and adherence to a program of vaccination against COVID-19 and COVID-21 promoted by Bill Gates with the collaboration of the main pharmaceutical groups. Beyond the enormous economic interests that motivate the promoters of the Great Reset, the imposition of the vaccination will be accompanied by the requirement of a health passport and a digital ID, with the consequent contact tracing of the population of the entire world. Those who do not accept these measures will be confined in detention camps or placed under house arrest, and all their assets will be confiscated.
Mr. President, I imagine that you are already aware that in some countries the Great Reset will be activated between the end of this year and the first trimester of 2021. For this purpose, further lockdowns are planned, which will be officially justified by a supposed second and third wave of the pandemic. You are well aware of the means that have been deployed to sow panic and legitimize draconian limitations on individual liberties, artfully provoking a worldwide economic crisis. In the intentions of its architects, this crisis will serve to make the recourse of nations to the Great Reset irreversible, thereby giving the final blow to a world whose existence and very memory they want to completely cancel. But this world, Mr. President, includes people, affections, institutions, faith, culture, traditions and ideals: people and values that do not act like automatons, who do not obey like machines, because they are endowed with a soul and a heart, because they are tied together by a spiritual bond that draws its strength from above, from that God that our adversaries want to challenge, just as Lucifer did at the beginning of time with his “non serviam.”

A few dozen Polish Catholics defend their church from
an angry mob of 6,000 European Union-backed thugs
after its high court made a pro-life ruling against eugenic abortion
Many people — as we well know — are annoyed by this reference to the clash between good and evil and the use of “apocalyptic” overtones, which according to them exasperates spirits and sharpens divisions. It is not surprising that the enemy is angered at being discovered just when he believes he has reached the citadel he seeks to conquer undisturbed. What is surprising, however, is that there is no one to sound the alarm. The reaction of the deep State to those who denounce its plan is broken and incoherent but understandable. Just when the complicity of the mainstream media had succeeded in making the transition to the New World Order almost painless and unnoticed, all sorts of deceptions, scandals and crimes are coming to light.
Until a few months ago, it was easy to smear as “conspiracy theorists” those who denounced these terrible plans, which we now see being carried out down to the smallest detail. No one, up until last February, would ever have thought that, in all of our cities, citizens would be arrested simply for wanting to walk down the street, to breathe, to want to keep their business open, to want to go to church on Sunday. Yet now it is happening all over the world, even in picture-postcard Italy that many Americans consider to be a small enchanted country, with its ancient monuments, its churches, its charming cities, its characteristic villages. And while the politicians are barricaded inside their palaces promulgating decrees like Persian satraps, businesses are failing, shops are closing, and people are prevented from living, traveling, working and praying. The disastrous psychological consequences of this operation are already being seen, beginning with the suicides of desperate entrepreneurs and of our children, segregated from friends and classmates, told to follow their classes while sitting at home alone in front of a computer.
In Sacred Scripture, St. Paul speaks to us of “the one who opposes” the manifestation of the mystery of iniquity, the kathèkon (2 Thessalonians 2:6–7). In the religious sphere, this obstacle to evil is the Church, and in particular the papacy; in the political sphere, it is those who impede the establishment of the New World Order.
As is now clear, the one who occupies the Chair of Peter has betrayed his role from the very beginning in order to defend and promote the globalist ideology, supporting the agenda of the deep Church, who chose him from its ranks.
Your adversary is also our adversary: It is the enemy of the human race.Tweet
Mr. President, you have clearly stated that you want to defend the nation — One Nation under God, fundamental liberties and non-negotiable values that are denied and fought against today. It is you, dear president, who are “the one who opposes” the deep State, the final assault of the children of darkness.
For this reason, it is necessary that all people of goodwill be persuaded of the epochal importance of the imminent election, not so much for the sake of this or that political program, but because of the general inspiration of your action that best embodies — in this particular historical context — that world, our world, which they want to cancel by means of the lockdown. Your adversary is also our adversary: It is the enemy of the human race, He who is “a murderer from the beginning” (John 8:44).
Around you are gathered with faith and courage those who consider you the final garrison against the world dictatorship. The alternative is to vote for a person who is manipulated by the deep State, gravely compromised by scandals and corruption, who will do to the United States what Jorge Mario Bergoglio is doing to the Church, Prime Minister Conte to Italy, President Macron to France, Prime Minster Sánchez to Spain, and so on. The blackmailable nature of Joe Biden — just like that of the prelates of the Vatican’s “magic circle” — will expose him to be used unscrupulously, allowing illegitimate powers to interfere in both domestic politics as well as international balances. It is obvious that those who manipulate him already have someone worse than him ready, with whom they will replace him as soon as the opportunity arises.
Image
Trump defends the “wall” against pro-mask globalists like Joe Biden
And yet, in the midst of this bleak picture, this apparently unstoppable advance of the “invisible enemy,” an element of hope emerges. The adversary does not know how to love, and it does not understand that it is not enough to assure a universal income or to cancel mortgages in order to subjugate the masses and convince them to be branded like cattle. This people, which for too long has endured the abuses of a hateful and tyrannical power, is rediscovering that it has a soul; it is understanding that it is not willing to exchange its freedom for the homogenization and cancellation of its identity; it is beginning to understand the value of familial and social ties, of the bonds of faith and culture that unite honest people. This Great Reset is destined to fail because those who planned it do not understand that there are still people ready to take to the streets to defend their rights, to protect their loved ones, to give a future to their children and grandchildren. The leveling inhumanity of the globalist project will shatter miserably in the face of the firm and courageous opposition of the children of Light. The enemy has Satan on its side, He who only knows how to hate. But on our side, we have the Lord Almighty, the God of armies arrayed for battle, and the Most Holy Virgin, who will crush the head of the ancient Serpent. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
Mr. President, you are well aware that, in this crucial hour, the United States of America is considered the defending wall against which the war declared by the advocates of globalism has been unleashed. Place your trust in the Lord, strengthened by the words of the Apostle Paul: “I can do all things in Him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). To be an instrument of divine providence is a great responsibility, for which you will certainly receive all the graces of state that you need, since they are being fervently implored for you by the many people who support you with their prayers.
With this heavenly hope and the assurance of my prayer for you, for the first lady, and for your collaborators, with all my heart I send you my blessing.
God bless the United States of America!

At 6.51, if that rambling missive is really from Vigano, it contains clear indicators of paranoid schizophrenia. This is concerning enough, but couple it with its intended target, Donald Trump the unbridled narcissist, and it becomes more than concerning: it becomes alarming.

If anyone is likely to take Vigano seriously, it is Trump, especially since Vigano has pandered to Trump’s massive ego, effectively referring to him as a latterday messiah.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the furloughing of public worship, what I find interesting about this issue is the ingrained expectation of the bishops that they should be listened to and what they want to happen should happen. They seem to be a bit baffled that they no longer call the shots and no longer have the moral voice and authority that they were used to having in the past. People, politicians, the institutions of the country now view the hierarchy of the Catholic Church as just another voice and opinion to be weighed against many others, and no longer holding a privileged status. I think the bishops are finding that hard to get their heads around. Perhaps they should reflect on why this has happened ? The answer, of course, is that they have brought this on themselves by their past behaviour and attitudes, in particular their arrogance, their lying, their coverup, their duplicity, their expectation of privilege and favourable treatment….I could go on and on. The chickens have come home to roost. It is a difficult and awkward new world for them. But a better one for the rest of us.

I would have thought the bishops would have got used to not being listened to by now, the end of deference and automatic obedience etc ? We didn’t listen to them when it came to the referenda on divorce, same sex unions /marriage, abortion……. On each of those occasions, however, they accused us, the laity, of losing the faith. It’s our fault apparently. I wonder when they will reflect on their part in all of this ?

Behind all the pastoral concern expressed about the faithful being deprived of the eucharist and praying together, there is a hard nosed judgement about MONEY ! The Bishops are thinking about the bottom line. They are worried. They need a constant flow of cash coming in. That will have figured greatly in their thinking, all wrapped up, of course, in words of concern for the spiritual wellbeing of the faithful. Yeah ?

Many faithful prefer not to take these men under their notice and that is a good thing.

However, it’s also working in reverse – these, increasingly irrelevant, men are holding to their old postion of not listening to anyone.

If they were listening the Dom Purcell issue would’ve have been resolved at this stage. The same old thing will happen They will hunker down and ignore the storm. The storm will blow over and things will continue as before.

Mr Hourigan and +Pat can provide all the signed confessions/ testaments they want – the status quo will remain. I hope I’m wrong.

Yes, there is indeed something missing there: validity of Romanist priesthood.

The only people who object to this truism are priests themselves; and they would, wouldn’t they?

Christ did not establish a priesthood, anymore than he established a monarchical church.

Until the Romanist priesthood is abolished (and the Covid-19 Pandemic is increasingly exposing its utter irrelevance), there will be a continuation of moral calamity in the Church, which will never, voluntarily, be taken seriously by the clergy, because this would involve their taking ownership not just of such dark events, but also of their historically having no place whatever in the Church.

At 12.40, it is already and long abolished… in Heaven. And the sign of Heaven’s disavowal is the characteristic and historical fruit of this priesthood: moral depravity.

While you continue to defend the defensible here, the evil it elicits will continue, too.

could you provide proof as regards to Christ didn’t establish the priesthood? Scripture?
Agree that RCC is a monarchical church where we have no real say in their matters. It’s fast becoming irrelevant cos FFG govt don’t listen to them anymore plus some church goers/ regulars might stop going back to church after lockdown cease. It’s about the money that bishops made their voices to FFG govt this time around.
Imagine having a cup of tea watching online while priest started preaching with volume turned off. It’s no use to me or any other deaf person in question. It made me realise that it’s irrelevant because Cov19 exposed rcc.

Like

@Deaf Guy
I’m not MC but here’s your answer – it’s difficult to prove something hasn’t been done so it’s better to look for proof that Jesus did start the RC priesthood.
In the new testament you will not find this, you will, however, find many references to the nature of Christ’s actions and sacrifice being priestly. He is also addressed as Rabbi. You will not find him establishing a priesthood explicitly like the church has.
You will of course see that this is not what the church says, and you can find the official position at:
https://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p2s2c3a6.htm
Interestingly the catechism does also comment on the priestly nature of the laity (https://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p123a9p4.htm) – Protestants never think Catholics believe in this and really should read the source texts.
You can read further on the RC position of whether the apostles were priests at https://www.catholic.com/magazine/online-edition/did-jesus-make-the-apostles-priests-at-the-last-supper
I have no idea what church Magna Carts now belongs to and of course can’t speak for his opinions but the classic Protestant explanation of this is that Jesus did not start a priesthood and they will often see many of the things found in Catholicism as being from Roman paganism, which of course they are.
Since Vatican 2 the priesthood of the people has been more emphasised.
For what it’s worth, my own opinion is that since all the historically oldest bodies in Christianity have the structure of orders that Rome does, they must have got them from somewhere, and I think it reasonable to see the makings of these orders in the new testament.
My own explanation for how we got into the shambles we see described on this blog is that there are two conflicting tendencies – of freeform charismatic approach Vs structured authoritarian approach, and that these often pretend to be each other and people tend towards one but not the other.
