THE ONGOING GAY MONKS, PRIESTS AND SEMINARIANS SAGA.

Richard Purcell embraces Br Malachy Thompson on the day Thompson took solemn vows in Roscrea.

Yesterday I received very shocking information with regard to Richard Purcell and Chris Dewin.

The information is very private to both of them but also is of great import to public interest and people’s safety.

So, today I have the dilemma of respecting the rights and privacy of two individuals and also caring for public interest and safety.

The matter also greatly escalates the Richard Purcell scandal we have been dealing with since mid September.

Under normal circumstances I could approach Purcell’s abbot general Eamon Fitzgerald in Rome.

I did send the information I received to Archbishop Diarmuid Martin and asked for “clarification”. He has not responded yet.

Did the information impact on Diarmuid’s dealings with Chris Derwin?

The AG has completely failed to address the Purcell issue – as has Malachy Thompson of Roscrea, Melleray’s Father Immediate Dom Michael Ryan of Moone abbey, Bishop Phonsie of Eaterford etc.

So I will reflect on it and make a decision.

HAS CHRIS DERWIN CHANGED HIS NAME TO CHRISTY DELANEY – AND WHY?

Chris Derwin on ITV news

AND NOW ON FACEBOOK

Why the name change?

Yesterday on the blog there were people saying that Derwin etc were innocent scapegoats.

That requires establishing.

As for changing names on Facebook, that’s a common thing.

It would have been so easy to keep out of trouble. If I had been connected, even slightly, to some issues, I would want to keep a low profile. This guy, however, seems to find this difficult. For me :
1. When asked for TV interview, I’d say “no thanks, try Murphy down the street”
2. I’d avoid social media completely, whether in my own name or fake.
I think the decisions this guy has made tell us a lot about him.

Bp Pat please can we have this topic soon. A friend of mine was posted to a presbytery (in one of the topmost implicated dioceses) from where a Latino priest had just fled after raping a boy (advised to flee by a relative of the boy, who had told him; and he bragged about his deed by “social media” from his home country after).
RCC deliberately traffics prospective priests (and to some extent laity) for various forms of abuse by a number of their superiors. Vigano is proven not to blame as the liars have claimed to establish. Remember that i, Vigano is not the only one in hiding, ii, Vigano’s predecessor went completely missing and is unaccounted for.
Poking about with Rome puts your life in peril (if you are Roman), everybody please stop being a communicant now, God has lost interest in sacraments (theology on the subject was largely inaccurate for some centuries). Listen to the Scriptures, pray the Our Father, listen to a sermon if it’s good enough, support your retired priests though.
It will be interesting to see clearly what the nay saying gangsters who will inevitably respond by avoiding the issues, are condoning.

New York Attorney General sues Buffalo Diocese for ‘sex abuse cover-up’
Bp Pat another topic in my opinion. Please note the extremely wide range of measures sought. Also note that their new bishop comes from an ultra discreditable place, an “up yours” to the faithful and the secular world alike.
The Vatican-American church axis affects us profoundly and urgently and the only way dioceses in England will have a chance of safety is a complete break from Rome. The city mentioned in Revelations ch 21 is not Rome, as many claim.

Oh no, not another day of pervy, bent priests, monks and seminarians ! And now they’re changing their names, so it’s hard to keep up. What a miserable, rotten lot, who have presided over their own demise and worse still hurt the Church that they were supposed to have a care for. Notwithstanding the Christian call to compassion and forgiveness, mine is wearing very thin and I think that zero tolerance is called for as a way of trying to right the ship for the future. So, if you are a priest, monk or seminarian, or indeed bishop, and you live contrary to the vows and promises you have made, expect no quarter from me when you are rumbled – no self-discovery sabbaticals, no endless months of expensive counselling, no second chances, no reinstatement, no continuing to have your snouts in the endless trough of Church goodies, no continuing to live in Church property, no ongoing support from your diocese etc. Just being shown the door and told to stand on your own two feet. I think I speak for many people who are just exhausted by your selfish, indulgent behaviours, while the rest of us are coping with life stuff that you simply would not have a clue about, given your cosseted and privileged lives. And still, you can’t even keep your John Thomas in your trousers ! Enough !

You are correct, another gay day on the blog. I’m sure that if Pat had wind of a heterosexual scandal he would publish? Ciaran Dallat was the last one and that was a long time ago, I can’t remember one before that. The old school “man’s man” PP’s, fond of a smoke and the horses, and a bit of a terror to curates, had full churches, catechised children and were close to their people, they are sadly a thing of the past. More respected than loved, they were not the derided and effeminate figures holed up in presbyteries, ministering only to old ladies that the modern seminaries turn out. Take The Captain for example, impact on his parish? Zero

Truly, I would also wish to be proved wrong about this situation. However, the attestation of people who have made sworn affidavits about their knowledge of Richard Purcell means this situation will escalate soon. It had been hoped such an escalation could have been avoided; but the on-going failure to address these matters now mean the nuclear option has to be taken, i.e., the involvement of the Department of Education and the Holy See.

10.46: Mr. Hourigan, as I mentioned before: Because of the nature of vicious allegations being made, people making sworn affadavits, legal threats against others, name calling and definitive judgments being pronounced on this blog, I e-mailed the Garda Commissioner, Charity Regulator and the Secretary to Minister for Education, drawing their attention to the content of this blog, in view of the Person Defamation Act and the possibility of law suits. I received acknowledgement of my emails. I think when you and Pat continue to threaten others with your rhetoric and comnentary, acting in a biased, prejudiced and personalised way, authorities need to be informed. Your supposed “concerns” would most definitely military against truth, fairness and justice. We have civil courts whose responsibility it is to ascertain true JUSTICE, not the abusuveness of this blog. And, if you and Pat have real, clinical and fact based evidence of criminal wrongdoing or abuse, then you should immediately go to the proper authorities. We’ve had weeks of accusations, judgment, mob rule and promises to conclusively prove assertions but we’re still waiting for moral action.

It’s interesting that you should take the actions you do yet the names mentioned in the blog – won’t take the same action and do you know why???? It’s because the accusations made in this blog are true and Purcell and his cronies wouldn’t want to stand in a court of law because I dare say a lot worse would be revealed and they would be all exposed for the hypocrites that they are.

I dare say both Pat and Robert would be pleased at your actions. That’s probably not your intention though.

@11:43 am

I am, of course, delighted to read that you have e-mailed: a) the Garda Commissioner; b) Charities Regulator; and, c) the Secretary to the Minister for Education. I am sure they would welcome the opportunity to investigate the allegations particularly because of the involvement of two monastic schools.

Obviously, you made them aware of the Defamation Act 2009. As you will know, because of the strict separation between the executive and the judiciary (if) you made them aware of the possibility of forthcoming legal proceedings; they will decline to become involved.

Nonetheless, I commend you for your sterling effort. Having consensual anal sex in a monastery guesthouse and/or The Boilerhouse is not a prohibited criminal act. It is, however, anathema to the monastic way of life.

Richard Purcell, as I have repeatedly highlighted is more than welcome to issue proceedings against me at any time. I will willingly accept service of the documentation. In fact, Mr. Purcell, might care to retain the services of Hughes Walsh Solicitors in Kilkenny, and insist that they instruct Jim O’Callaghan SC, who represented Connor Gannon. Some interesting information has come about case has come to my attention that was not lead in open court.

Rest assured, work is progressing to deal the accusations. It will be evidenced-based utilising the same methodology that was invoked to deal with the accusations that were made against Dom Gregory Collins, OSB formally a monk and priest of Glenstal Abbey. A matter as serious as this will not/cannot be rushed.

@12:02 pm
EXACTLY. I would greatly welcome the opportunity to get this into the Irish courts. Unfortunately, the accusations against Purcell are true; he will not issue proceedings because he knows he will be publicly exposed and excoriated as a hypocrite. Of course, if he had any integrity he would resign as abbot, and seek dispensation from his vows and the obligations of the clerical state.

Lol for the umpteenth time none of the above bodies will be interested because
There is no crime.

This is still a public service because prospective applicants to the abbey can see what the monastic life is really like.

4.52: The reason you, Mr. Hourigan, continue to write and share so much information (deeply personalised) with attaching, uncontested allegations and judgments is because you know that morally, the Abbot will not take a law suit. That you continue to make your judgments is not necessarily commendable on your part. Your narrative is repetitive. I merely emailed the entities I referred to so tjat anyone who reads the content of the blog with its viciousness, vitriol, belittling of others, innuendo, hearsay, harrassment and bullying, will either laugh and be amused or be utterly disgusted and deem you and your cohort to be mendacious and dysfunctional. How, in God’s holy name, do you imagine that in light of all that this blog has printed (your rhetoric particularly) could ever be conducive to a fair, just and truthful “trial”. I contend that you are wasting your energy. Go find or fund a charity to pour out your energy on: at least you may bear appropriate fruits without too much huffing and puffing!!!! What benefit is it for you to continue to igniminiously humiliate anyone? The Abbot, I’m sure is communing with his God. That’s his right and irrespective of any wrongdoing, your predilection for judgment is repugnant.

Like

A brief reply to your posting.

I will spend my monies as I see fit. I will devote my time and energy to causes that I consider to be important. Of course, you may disagree; but, you are entitled to your opinion.

I am not humiliating any individual; I am merely highlighting personal/institutional hypocrisy — there is a distinct difference. Nobody is forcing Richard Purcell to remain as a monk, priest, and abbot.

If it is the case (as you assert) the Abbot is communing with his God; then, he should follow his conscience and resign and/or step aside so an independent investigation can take place and the abbot can be exonerated. I am sure Dom Richard would welcome the opportunity to be completely vindicated and to expose yours truly as a charlatan.

A trial is not a search for truth; it is a search for proof. Thus, if Dom Richard had behaved in accordance with his monastic vows, he would have no concerns about procedural fairness. If he wishes to avoid a canonical trial and the matter being escalated to Rome; he is free to resign at any time.

Mr Hourigan, you want a named individual to follow YOUR conscience. How reasonable is that?

Like

6.27: Personally, Mr. Hourigan, from hereon I couldn’t give a rats behind, as Judge Judy would say, about your verdicts. You have obviously made up your mind to continue your public harrassing of the Abbot. Find another monastery to visit where you might find solace. The Abbot of Mt. Mellary doesn’t need your definitive judgments not your permission to live. This Abbot, as you have decided, will be forever at the receiving end of your judgment until you get his head on a plate. How do you know what his communing with God may inspire? We know your position vis a vis the Abbot: you repeat it frequently. You have one opinion only and I do not agree with your on-going harrassing, judging and humiliating of this targeted individual or anyone for that matter. I would never countenance chasing down any sinner. If criminal activity has occurred, go to the right authorities, as I would do. If I were to speak with the Abbot, I would encourage a deep, honest time of prayerful, reflective repentance. Then, I would trust he would follow his conscience in light of God’s ways. I do not have any right or authority to tell him what, in conscience, he should do. He can listen but ultimately he makes the decision. Neither do you have such right or authority. We all despise hypocrisy in all its forms and guises but I am not the arbitrator of any individual’s conscience. To believe such is monumental arrogance. Perhaps my 40 years of ministry in encountering people in a myriad of moral, ethical and spiritual crises has given me a great wisdom in applying the gospel imperative of “….not throwing stones, judging or condemning..” The courts are there to administer true justice. However much I may condemn the sin – and I have done so – I will never smash the human person behind the sin.

With a sense of amusement I read your reply. I am, however, pleased to read that you decry all forms of hypocrisy. Then, you will have no problem calling for the public resignation of Richard Purcell, because his life is an exercise in on-going hypocrisy light of the fact that he is a monk in solemn vows. In fact, I can think of no better example of public/institutional hypocrisy
People like Gregory Collins and Richard Purcell only start speaking about conscience when they break the eleventh commandment — they get caught and are called out. Collins did the decent thing and left the monastic life and has reinvented himself as an Anglican cleric in the Diocese of Chichester.
People like Purcell are incapable of deep, honest, prayerful reflective repentance; because their behaviour is so entrenched. In fact, they are not interested, because they are having such a good time. Regrettably, Purcell’s behaviour is not a one-off occurrence. In fact, it has been on-going over a number of years. In the next two weeks lots will happen; you have no idea of the work that has been undertaken and the evidence in our possession.
