ETWN PRIEST BROADCASTER (75) CAUGHT WATCHING GAY PORN BY FEMALE SECURITY GUARD.

‘I was fighting him off of me’: Security guard, 22, says she was sexually assaulted by prominent NYC priest, 75, who she ‘filmed watching gay porn in church rectory’

By Ariel Zilber For Dailymail 23:12 02

Father George William Rutler, 75, is prominent Manhattan-based priest and contributor for Catholic media conglomerate Eternal Word Television Network

Ashley Gonzalez, 22, alleged he assaulted her at St. Michael the Archangel Church on West 34th Street in the early morning hours of November 4

Gonzalez told News 12 The Bronx that she was working her second shift as an overnight security guard at the church when the alleged assault took place

She provided cell phone video footage showing a bald man alleged to be Rutler watching gay pornographic video on his office computer in church rectory

Gonzalez alleged that soon afterward, Rutler slammed the door shut, denying her a chance to leave, and jumped on top of her. He has denied the allegations

Archdiocese of New York has told Catholic news media outlets that Rutler has stepped aside from pastoral duties, though church website still features him

Last month, Rutler denied the allegations in a letter to parishioners, claiming that they are ‘inconsistent with how I have conducted myself in 50 years’

Father George William Rutler, 75, a prominent priest and media commentator on Catholic television, is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 22-year-old security guard

A 22-year-old security guard has alleged that a prominent New York City priest was watching gay porn on an office computer in the church rectory before he then forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her.

The priest, Father George William Rutler, has denied the allegations.

‘I strongly deny this allegation, which I maintain is incoherent and painful to my reputation and inconsistent with how I have conducted myself in 50 years of ministerial service without any accusation of misbehavior,’ Rutler wrote in a letter to parishioners on November 20.

The Archdiocese of New York said that Rutler has stepped aside from pastoral duties while authorities investigate. But the church signage from December 1 and the website still list Rutler’s name and prominently feature his likeness.

Ashley Gonzalez of The Bronx was working just her second shift as an overnight security guard at St. Michael the Archangel Church on West 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan on November 4.

Ashley Gonzalez

During her shift, she recorded video showing a bald man alleged to be Rutler watching gay pornography on a computer. Footage of the video was obtained by News 12 The Bronx.

The video on the computer screen depicted a man performing oral sex on another man. Gonzalez said Rutler was ‘like a monster.’

‘He looked at me with a smile, looked away, and he put his hand inside his pants, and he was playing with himself,’ Gonzalez told the TV station.

When she tried to leave the priest’s office, she alleges that he slammed the door shut.

‘He aggressively threw himself on me and grabbed me sexually, aggressively, and I was fighting him off of me,’ Gonzalez told News 12.

She then showed the television station screenshots of frantic text messages she sent to her mother during the alleged assault.

‘That was the scariest part too. I had no one to help,’

A spokesperson for the DA’s office told NCR that the office ‘does not confirm whether investigations exist.’

Rutler sent an email to NCR stating: ‘I am not permitted by Counsel to comment except that I enjoy the confidence of my superiors and am totally innocent.

‘Until this matter is adjudicated it is prudent to avoid comment and potential libel.’

A phone call to St. Michael the Archangel Church went unanswered.

Gonzalez said she hired a private investigator to look into the allegations. She is now demanding that the NYPD arrest Rutler.

Ashley Gonzalez of The Bronx was working just her second shift as an overnight security guard at St. Michael the Archangel Church (above) on West 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan on November 4.

She alleges that Rutler was watching gay pornography in his office. Moments later, he forced himself on her and did not allow her to leave, she has alleged

Manuel Gomez of Black Ops Private Investigators told NCR that Gonzalez filed a police report and provided the 18-second cell phone video to investigators as well as to the Archdiocese of New York and the Holy See.

Gomez alleged that Rutler entered his office to check election results in the early morning house of November 4 and then switched over to viewing pornography.

Before that, Rutler invited Gonzalez to rest in his office in between her rounds of the church property, according to Gomez.

‘Father Rutler’s case is currently in the hands of the District Attorney,’ a spokesperson for the archdiocese told NCR.

The archdiocese told News 12 that ‘although Father Rutler has denied acting inappropriately with the security guard, he has voluntarily stepped aside from the parish, and is not currently serving as a priest.’

The archdiocese added that it is cooperating in the investigation.

The NYPD told DailyMail.com: ‘We do not comment explicitly on the possible or current status of investigations.

‘The NYPD takes sexual assault and rape cases extremely seriously, and urges anyone who has been a victim to file a police report so we can perform a comprehensive investigation, and offer support and services to survivors.’

Since the alleged incident, Gonzalez said she has not returned to work for MG Security. She said that the company offered to reassign her, but she refused.

The company told News 12 it took every measure to protect its employee in accordance with state and federal laws to allow her to tell her story.

Rutler is a controversial priest who has been outspoken in his criticism of ‘abortionists and sodomites.’

The author of more than 30 books, Rutler appears on the internationally televised Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), a Catholic media conglomerate that includes radio, internet, print, publishing, and other news outlets.

EWTN told The Daily Beast that it is suspending Rutler’s broadcasts until an investigation is complete.

Rutler is also the author of a weekly newsletter that is reprinted by Church Militant, a fringe far-right web site that includes segments alleging that homosexuals are waging warfare to persecute Catholics.

Rutler has also spoken out against declining fertility rates in Europe, the increase of Muslim immigration to the West, and a decline in marriage.

PAT SAYS

Another case of a priest never having sorted out his sexual desires and his priesthood commitments.

And this guy is a Catholic right winger.

And a preacher against contradicting church teaching.

And he is masturbating to gay porn – in front of a 22 year old female!

Another case proving that celibacy is not working.

And him broadcasting Catholic doctrines to lay people.

You left out two very important words of course in your “Pat says” – the words “ALLEGED” and “ALLEGEDLY”. This whole matter is being strongly contested.
The priest ALLEGEDLY comes into the office and, in front of this security guard, starts watching gay porn and to “touch himself” – THEN he moves in on her sexually. Yeah, all sounds kosher. Couldn’t possibly be a set up.

10:04 pm – Don’t you dare try to belittle what that young woman has reported happening to her.
Fair judicial process should be afforded to them both, yes.
However, her reports must be treated with urgency and respect- that is vital in lots of respects.

Just because she has not had scented olive-oil rubbed into the palms of her hands and does not wear a piece of white plastic around her neck – does not mean she is sub-human.

We all have our reservations as to what has more than likely happened here, and I for one am under no illusion in this respect.

I WILL dare and you won’t stop me. I don’t believe a word she says. You believe her if you wish but I don’t and I have every right to raise that these are ALLEGATIONS – not proven facts.

And they are ALLEGATIONS that sound decidedly dodgy to say the least.

Pat, this story sounds incredible. We are asked to believe that a priest switched from watching election coverage to watching gay porn, knowing full well that Gonzalez was in the same room and could see what he was watching. How reckless and stupid would this be if it were true?

This is what I have read and heard from pretty remise source.
It is about control, dominance and inflicting pain on an innocent person – maybe it is like a drug to them – like a wild animal preying upon it’s food, maybe?
Either way, thank God we don’t fully understand the reasons or mechanisms why these evil acts take place.
There is an element of phenomenon in this are of evilness, if that kind of makes sense, but I’m not too good at explaining things.
Anyway, thst girl needs to be treated with respect and dignity. Ok!? Good… x

Good. People make out we are church haters when we keep pointing to failures like that but it’s evident that the church has to have its failures in morals and just plain human decency pointed out by lawyers. Anyone in Nichols’s position with the slightest conscience would have put out a statement at the very least and should have resigned.

The St. Luke’s centres are all one organisation – and it is run by the Roman Catholic Church.
******
Just for clarification, these centres serve for mostly two purposes (as well as candidate assessment for potential seminarians and religious): “drying” out centres for nuns and priests, which is a very kind and good thing, we can all agree on this.
People with general health problems or addictions deserve proper care and attention.
******
However, the other side of the coin is somewhat cause for debate; ordinary human sexual peccaddiloes are one thing… but anything more serious should be dealt with by independent authorities, like state regulated doctors or psychologists, and the probation services (or equivalent in different countries / regens).

Incidentally, here is one patient’s comment left on their website…
“I loved St. Luke’s so very much and am indebted to them for giving me a second chance at life…” [Did they miss out the bit that said: “I promised, til I was blue in the face, that I would not do it again- and they believed me… again!”]?

I am not trying to be being flippent here — I personally find this to be an interesting comment from a patient at a health facility. No?
Could this be the patients response to a report giving a green light in some regard?

Yep, Scorer has scored again, and has Nichols in his sights. The timeline in the Quigley case is still a bit uncertain, probably intentionally so on the part of the Archdiocese of Birmingham. The fog of uncertainty will suit their case at the moment. However, there are questions to be asked, such as these: 1.When and for what reasons was it deemed necessary to send Quigley to the USA for treatment in, I think, 2008 ? 2. Was the reason for this a matter that involved safeguarding, and if so was it a matter at the time that required the police to be informed ? 3. What happened to Quigley when he returned from the USA ? 4. On his return from the USA was Quigley given a ministerial / pastoral / priestly role ? If so, what and where? 5. If whatever occasioned the 2008 decision to send him to the USA was not sufficient to be reported to the police or for him to be suspended from ministry, when and what occasioned those things to happen in subsequent years ? 6. Who was it and when it was that information was reported to the police that occasioned the police investigation, arrest, trail and conviction ? 7. At each stage 1-6, who was the Archbishop, who was the Vicar General, and who was the person in charge of safeguarding in that diocese, and who made these decisions at various stages ?

Like

Ooopps, Nichols really does seem to be in the focus :

https://www.thetablet.co.uk/news/13658/priest-worked-in-schools-despite-abuse-allegations

My reading of this is that in 2008 Quigley was reported for involvement with a ‘man’ who had previously been a student at a sixth form college where Quigley had been a chaplain. That was enough for the Archdiocese to remove him and send him to the USA for treatment, but not enough, it seems, for it to be reported to the police, apparently after discussion with the safeguarding officer of the diocese, but to be handled in-house.

However, when Quigley returned from the USA sometime in 2009, he appears to have still been able to have some involvement in schools at various levels as an inspector / advisor, perhaps even as a chaplain. That seem only to have been suspended when further, and apparently other, claims were made against him that eventually led to his trial and conviction.

So, I guess the issues are two-fold: 1. Was the 2008 original concern handled properly, and should it have been reported to the police, and did it set off the right alarm bells ? 2. After coming back from the USA in 2009 what on earth possessed the Archdiocese of Birmingham to allow Quigley to have any involvement with schools, given that there had been concerns about his activity, sufficient for him to have been sent off to the USA. Surely prudence would have dictated a more cautious approach in what he was able to be involved with on his return ?

I’m still unclear as to the dates and if Nichols was involved in all of these decisions. No doubt it will come out more clearly over the next few days. I would think that if it it shown that Nichols was involved and did not follow protocols and / or was reckless in how he allowed Quigley to carry on with involvement in some measure with schools, and if the matter gets some momentum behind it, Nichols could well find that he is not just able to waltz on regardless in his current position.

No matter whether this man Rutler is guilty or not of masturbating to gay porn. Suffice it to say that he is a despicable right wing hate monger who is part and parcel of the culture wars i the USA and focuses on those of any difference – such as gays, migrants and anybody who does not fit his model of what it is to be human. On that basis alone, I suggest that he is not worthy of being a priest and a pastor. Now that his own unresolved and dysfunctional private life, which he has made public by his behaviour, is in focus, I am hopeful that he will disappear from sight into prayer and penance, or if he has committed an assault against this woman is convicted and penalised. Whichever way, Rutler should be toast.

And what is the tricolour – the symbol of the French Revolution – doing in a Catholic parade to restore the Latin mass. Is this the pretence that the Republic is a Catholic state, if so it is now wide of the mark. The Republican form of government, ‘for the people by the people’ was one that evolved out of the French Enlightenment critique of Revelation and was brought into to Ireland by deists like those Brian Behan celebrated in his song: ‘Our Last Hope’. In rejection of this, the French had priests unleashed the bloodyl ‘Vendee war’ on these representatives of ‘government by the people’ to restore the Ancient Regime alliance of Aristocrats and Clerics. And recently the Irish people have again voted against Church feudalism, most of which clerics secretly flouted themselves with sex behind orphanage walls. They maskless protesters ought to at least know their own history!

Charming and inventive example of poetic word play, but we cant both beseech God for recognition unless he is a transcendental deity above all and out there as the creator of the world, like the pope claims him to be, and yet worship him as actually being all these things, in which case he is an immanent entity in the way Spinoza conceived him to be. He can’t be both, because as the poem claims, we are also him, and he is us. This kind of thinking led Pope Clement VIII to consign poor Giordano Bruno to the flames – I don’t know if you can work this detail into your pean of praise for the wonders of pantheism – a word invented by an Irishman.

Why are you pretending to be Father Stephen Dunn? I was contacted by a reader of Catholic Truth expressing shock that Father Dunn is blogging here. I have now spoken with Father Dunn and he is angered that someone is deliberately claiming to be him, making statements purporting to come from him, and thus misleading readers.

Why, I repeat, are you stealing Father Stephen Dunn’s identity?

Are you aware that identity theft is a criminal offence? Check out this Police Scotland link if you doubt my word.https://www.scotland.police.uk/keep-safe/advice-for-victims-of-crime/fraud/identity-theft/

I also suggest that you minimise the damage you are doing by issuing a public apology to Father Dunn without delay – under your real name. Give us a rest from the “Anonymous” brigade. It is cowardly to seek, under cover of anonymity, to deliberately jeopardise the reputation of a priest who – contrary to the nasty remarks of other(s) here – is very popular with faithful, practising Catholics in Glasgow.

And, when I read other nasty remarks/innuendo from one of the other idiots here, making detrimental comments about Fr Dunn’s intellect, it reminded me of the way the nickname “the Dumb Ox” was given to none other than one of the greatest minds in the Church – St Thomas Aquinas.

I await your public apology.
