MAYNOOTH TRIES TO REINVENT ITSELF :-(

MAYNOITH SEMINARY is trying to to invent itself after year’s of being exposed as a rampant gay seminary.

They are selling their main buildings for accommodation for the university lay students.

And they are planning a 21 St century minj seminary at the edge of the campus.

But their problem is their toxic reputation as a gay seminary – a place of orgiastic gay sex between seminarians and seminarians and priests.

President Ledwith spent his time seducing first year seninarians.

He was sent packing to the USA with a £ 300,000 golden handshake by the Irish bishops.

And then we had the 2016 Summer of Love when all kinds of gay revelations came flooding out.

Diarmuid Martin condemned the “strange goings in” and pulled out all his seminarians.

The numbers of entrants have dropped.

Maynooth is finished.

Better to give it a good funeral and start all over again.

That article is pure hagiography, dripping with the Ampleforth arrogance which is the reason the school should definitely be closed. A remarkable own goal.

Yes, there is definitely that Ampleforth arrogance and entitlement here. it comes from the monks. They are not humble beings. They come mostly from the upper middle recusant Catholic classes and the establishment, and they engender that culture in their students. Problems ? What problems, they would think. How dare you be so impertinent to tell us that we have problems, they would think. Well, looks like their bluff has been called. About time.

What would have to happen in Ampleforth before old boys would stop writing articles saying the it’s great, apart from the small matter of endemic abuse?
A state school with such a record would have been closed years ago or shunned by parents of potential pupils.

The key line in this article is:…. “in closing the school the Department for Education is making a mistake, and currently seems unable to distinguish the individual criminals from the good and laudable men they hid among.” The problem with that is the fact that the laudable men that the abusers hid among were aided and abetted, at least implicitly if not explicitly, by these laudable men. They knew, for the most part, what was going on, and took action moving these abusers around their various other ministries and parishes so that they were not physically living at the monastery. But, even then, many of these abusers carried on abusing in their new posts. So, the Abbot and the monks of Ampleforth often facilitated pastures new for abusers. And they knew all about it. And they would move them on again and again and again. So, I do find Henry Williams rather fawning article about Ampleforth somewhat incredible to stomach.

I remember visiting Ampleforth about a decade ago and being introduced to one of the monks who was middle aged, very camp, evidently had a morning facial treatment, and was well coiffed and fragranced, even if habited. I did wonder about him being a friend of Dorothy. Then a few months later I was passing through King’s Cross station – which would of course be the train station out of London for trains to Yorkshire – and he was there taking on his phone and dressed like he was some sort of superannuated rent boy. Mutton dressed as lamb, sort of stuff. I guess his practice would be to hop on the train down to London for some R and R, dressed in his latest glad rags, and then hot foot it back afterwards to Yorkshire to step back in to the habit. “A monk out of his monastery is like a fish out of water.” Wasn’t that St Benedict ? I think Ampleforth has always been a rather louche establishment.

about time some of the property was allocated to lay students. its unreal trying to find accommodation in Maynooth. I know some of the 2020/2021 entrants for seminary formation in Maynooth/Vallodolid, and it would appear their candidates are OUTSTANDING.

It is silly how long it takes to become a priest. It took me seven years in total. Such length of time can make a guy incapable of getting a real job in case he wants to leave. But thankfully I have been happy. I would make it a 3 year course. Diaconate at the end then priest 6 months later.

There is something depressingly seventies about the photo of the formation team at Maynooth – dreary middle age men in jumpers, and the inevitable nun in charge of vocational counselling, whatever that is. The same types have been running seminaries for the last fifty years, which, in part at least, is why they have all been closing. I find it impossible to get excited about Fanny’s vision of the future. Let’s get real: there isn’t one.

11:26 – I assure you I did not get thrown out of seminary and am still very much in ministry. I just don’t like what I see in our seminaries and our young priests. Your comments and language suggest that you, perhaps, have your own difficulties and issues, since you react with such venom to people who take a pot shot at your clerical friends and point out some of the fripperies and idiocies that exist amongst them. Turn the other cheek and absorb it. Offer it up. But, most of all, best for you just to shut up. Please.

If somebody like Fr. Jones (King Puck), can successfully complete the seminary course and be declared “suitable” for ordination to the priesthood for the Diocese of Kerry; then Maynooth is going nowhere — fast. However, I have subsequently learned that there were “concerns” about Jones prior to his ordination to the diaconate.

Pat Buckley, who has the unenviable record of being accurate (Pat, will be accused of having a bromance) – wrote some time ago that the second individual involved in the sex act on the altar at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Kildorrery is a Maynooth-based seminarian.

In various conversations, I have had with people about Richard Purcell at Mount Melleray Abbey, I have learned that this seminarian is still in Maynooth, studying for a Diocese in Northern Ireland. If this is true — the mind boggles; but one has to legitimately wonder is the leadership of Maynooth morally compromised? However, the photographs of the persons involved can be forensically analysed, to establish if the individual concerned is the seminarian in Maynooth, and, I am sure Fr. Jones in Kerry would also welcome the opportunity to vindicate what is attested to within his affidavit.

Again, my thanks to everybody who has provided information, it will be treated with the utmost sensitivity and absolute CONFIDENTIALITY.

At Robert at 11:19am – There has to be compromise at the very highest levels of the Church. There is no other reasonable explanation for what is going on and what is being permitted. It’s absolutely shocking. The identity of the Kildorrery altar scandal seminarian is an open secret. Does anyone know if this individual received diaconate? He should have been ordained a deacon by now – but there’s no mention of it anywhere. These things are usually trumpeted. Some of his peers are now deacons and priests – not that there is very many of them. The whole business beggars belief.

Yes, I know the identity of that individual is an open secret. That seminarian was due to be ordained a deacon earlier this year for a diocese in Northern Ireland, but I understand it was delayed due to the pandemic. In conversations that I have had about Richard Purcell, his name keeps emerging with alarming regularity. Of course, there is also the possibility that he was ordained a deacon, secretly. But, I think that is most unlikely, however, nothing surprises me anymore.
Maynooth is in an absolutely shocking state, but, it does not come as a surprise when you consider its leadership over the past thirty-years. I am aware of another whistle-blower who was forced out of Maynooth, when he caught two individuals in bed together, and naïvely reported it to the authorities. I am also aware of another seminarian for a Leinster-based diocese, who had to leave because of the repeated sexualised touching of his bottom by seminarians, who were attempting to “turn him”. Again, all this was tolerated with impunity by the leadership of the seminary.
Does anybody know if the infamous altar in the diocese of Cloyne was reconsecrated?

A point of information. The first priest executed in the USA was said to have had relations with his mistress on the altar of one of his parishes. Remember that altar probably had a tabernacle and a gradine surmounted by the big six along with the two little candlesticks!
I should think lots of ‘ parvae declinationes ‘ were required for that exercise. On second thought should that be pravae?

Yes, there is a fatigue about the clergy and its misdoing, whether it is about coverup, or mismanagement, or actual abuse. Look at Rawhide Purcell. Nobody is going to do anything about it because really nobody is that interested anymore. Sorry, but that is the way it is these days…. Only if the matter is criminal will the press, people and police take action. Anything outside of that and clergy and people like Purcell can do what they want and get away with it. Purcell will still be abbot in 5 years time, Nichols will still be in Westminster for many more months and a cardinal until he dies.

Yes, it is true that Pat Buckley does not know yours truly really well. However, it is the case that we have spoken FREQUENTLY over the past weeks about matters pertaining to Mount Melleray Abbey in light of the information that has been provided. Whilst, these matters have not appeared on the blog, a lot of background work has been undertaken; it is very much a work in progress. Some, but not all of these conversations have taken place in the presence of my better half so Pat Buckley writes from a position of insight. Of course, I have an intrinsic dislike of Buckley because he is from Offaly. And, we in Kerry have never forgiven the county for denying the Kerry Football Team the opportunity achieving winning the All-Ireland championship in 1983. But, for the greater good of Mount Melleray Abbey, I have put those differences to one side.

@2:05pm I think a large part of this blog’s purpose is to allow the clergy free reign to demonstrate their genuine behaviour and attitudes.
Each and every one of those comments is an own goal. The public have Bishop Buckley to thank for exposing the filthy underbelly of clergy behaviour; this means that in 2020 nobody has an excuse for going into the church with closed eyes and we know that those who stay are just as filthy, as if we didn’t know it anyway.

Purpose of this blog is to hold irish rcc into account re exposures if any cos not even the media whatsoever or the biased Catholic media such as Irish Catholic paper. Nearly everything good or bad or scandalous ones in rcc are swept under the carpet over the years.

This blog enables ourselves to see the ‘other side’ of rcc such as bad apples. So it gives us more perspective of the underlying undercurrent that’s persistent and perhaps relevant.

Kildorrey altar incident which was quite disturbing. I thought that it would never happen in Ireland but it did. It demonstrated that some bishops out there don’t believe in jesus christ by refusing to do the reconscreate the altar. It’s their lack of belief that led to their decision not to do it.

In America, in some dioceses where it did happen then some bishops did proceed to reconscreate the altar as soon as they can when time permits them to get this done.

But I don’t see it happening in the diocese of Cloyne as regards to Kildorrey altar to date unless someone more knowledgeable out there on this blog might correct me there on this point.

I reckon the nun’s function is to ensure that orthodox sems are kicked out. The only good thing is that nuns like that are in or very near their dotage and they haven’t replaced themselves so that 70s throwback is on the way out.
