‘When the orchestra is playing an evil tune you can be certain the conductor trained in hell”.

I was literally stunned as I watched Trump’s supporters attack and take over the Senate and House of representatives in Washington this week.

In the light of US’ law enforcements’s vicious and racist reactions to other protests by people like Black Lives matter – the mainly white fundamentalists who attacked the Capitol we’re treated very lightly.

My own thought was: “Why are the police not opening fire against these domestic terrorists”?

There are two answers to that:

1. The domestic terrorists were there at the prompting and with the agreement if Trump himself.

2. The vast majority of the domestic terrorists were white.

And the USA has always been and is still today a viciously racist country.

The Bible thumping of the religious right has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ and Christianity.

These Bible thumpers are following a God of their own making and that God us white, racist, gun carrying and blesses the Ku Klux Klan.

The US Republican Party – the favourite of many Anerican and Irish American Roman Catholics – is an anti-christian party in essence and the only lives they seem to want to protect are lives in the womb.

When you leave the womb, especially if you are black or a person of colour, your lives do not matter and your rights do not really exist.

Donald Trump is not just crazy and sick. He is evil.

And that evil, like a covid, has taken over the Republican Party and fundamentalist white America.

Yes, there is great evil in Russia.

Yes, there is great evil in China.

But this week we saw naked, blatant evil alive and well in Washington DC.

I have never believed that the USA was totally the land of the good, the free, democracy.

The US, like the UK, has often employed terrorism and torture around the globe.

But this week in Washington we saw the offspring of Evil America, turn on and attempt to devour their mother.

We live in a time of great evil.

When the orchestra is playing an evil tune you can be certain the conductor trained in hell.

I think we will even see worse happen in the future.

Good evening Pat. As I heard myself tonight on the news, the Kremlin and the Chinese Communists will be laughing at the USA. Having seen Mr Trump being praised by Mr Farage. That did it for me. I have no time at all now for the USA. I don’t think there is a perfect country to live in anymore. Let’s not forget that almost half of the UK voted against Brexit. The only perfect city is the heavenly Jerusalem. Praised be Jesus.

It’s a gay bar opposite Union Street. It used to be called the Front Page when it was frequented by journalists from the nearby Irish News, Newsletter and Belfast Telegraph.

Great about the mug. Those old school journalists were great craic.

The US and the UK have ‘often employed torture and terrorism around the globe’? I suppose there is some truth in that… just as there is truth in the statement that the Republic of Ireland regularly assisted IRA murder squads in Northern Ireland by supplying them with weapons and by providing a safe haven for these death squads when they nipped back over the border and into the territory of the Republic of Ireland statelet whose security forces could be relied upon to cooperate by turning a blind eye.

The demonstrators were allowed in to the Capitol by the police and the evidence is recorded on video. Some of the vanguard were dressed up as MAGA Trump supporters but have been identified as Antifa with hammer and sickle tattoos etc. Most Trump supporters were acting peacefully. It was a set up and designed to incriminate President Trump. He has left the White House and moved to the national defence HQ in Abilene. He has been given information about those who have been compromised and are being blackmailed by foreign agencies and he is considering implementing an executive order to arrest those who have tried to subvert and take over control of the country. When the evidence comes out people will be shocked.

The last government that put the Western Christian god at the centre of its society was that of Papal Rome before 1870. The last one to do so with any form of Cheistianity was Ethiopia before 1974. All such governments were feudal. Why? The idea that Christians can be a leaven in a secular society makes no sense. The witness that God rules in human society now belongs to the Muslims.

I doubt you’ll publish this Pat but anyway.. Slightly less than 50% of the American population voted for Trump in the last US election, he lost fair and square and is flailing around trying to overturn the result, Many of the people who voted for him feel that they have lost their voice in the American administration, they are the people whose forefathers built America and have seen their jobs and communities devastated by globalization. Have you thought about how motivated desperate people must feel to travel the long distance to Washington to protest? Yes some were extremists, the majority were not, the young woman who was shot by police was a US air force veteran.
Contrast this with the black lives matters protest which consisted of blacks protesting in their local areas by looting local businesses and burning them down. Blacks make up 15% of the American population and account for 60% of crimes.
Look at Africa since they kicked the white man out, a disaster, the billions sent in aid over the years could have paid off the national debt of every African country, where has it gone? You conveniently ignore the racism against the white man, in South Africa if a job becomes available it must be offered to a black man, a black woman, a white woman before it can be offered to a white man, South Africa was built on the toil of the Boers.
Look at Uganda, Rhodesia etc and the mess the blacks have made of their affairs.
White Lives matter, White is Right, White Power!!!!!!!

You’ve historical facts are nonsense. The British, the Irish, the Spanish and the Portuguese, in short the Atlantic Europeans, took over the American continent from the existing occupants and hunted them on to reservations. They imported some 11 million black Africans there as slaves to harvest cash crops – tobacco, and sugar and cotton – in the most vile conditions. In many cases they raped the black female slaves as the means peopling their plantations with still more slaves. When one is a slave, skin colour doesn’t matter. Some of the slave masters came back to the British isles when they had made their fortune and lived in style and became pillars of propriety. A new historical website shows just how many respectable Victorians were still living off American slaves by 1864, varying from Catholic Bishops to the poor widows of Protestant pastors. When slavery was abolished after a brutal civil war, mainly because the poor white emigrants in the northern non-slave states could not compete with slave masters who were living off free labour in the south. Of course, many poor European emigrants were attracted to streets paved with gold, or because they were driven of thir lands in Europe. When they got there, they formed political associations, the KKK, the Republican and the Democratic Parties and took turns of keeping the blacks down; Trump and his thugs are only the latest manifestation of this and nicely illustrate the discrepancy between your ridiculous statistical percentages, and the claim that whites represent any kind of moral worth. They claim to have won the majority of the votes in the 2020 election with the very lies you are peddling above; and when we see them in action trashing the Capitol, we realise that the American prison system is sadly under-representative of the while population even by their own admission. Whiteness and blackness is only skin deep! One of the reasons that Christianity flourished on in the three centuries after the death of Jesus was that it offered a promise of love to slaves and women who flocked to it, the despised and the rejected of a slave dominated Classical society, until Emperor Constantine made it the imperial religion of Rome and as they say the rest is history.

A rather simplistic attempt at a meta-narrative.
You could beging by attempting to understand that meta-narratives have no place in a postmodern context.
Constantine permitted Christianity. He did not make it “the imperial religion of Rome.” Justinian did that.

Thanks for that John. Much you say is true. I’ve read lots about slavery, and seen much colour prejudice in action locally, and even as far away as Oz. Full in the panting heart of Rome
Beneath the apostle’s crowning dome.
From pilgrim’s lips that kiss the ground,
Breathes in all tongues one only sound:

GOD BLESS OUR POPE, GOD BLESS OUR POPE,
GOD BLESS OUR POPE, THE GREAT THE GOOD!

The golden roof, the marble walls,
The Vatican’s majestic halls,
The note redoubles, till it fills
With echoes sweet the seven hills

GOD BLESS OUR POPE, GOD BLESS OUR POPE,
GOD BLESS OUR POPE, THE GREAT THE GOOD!

Then surging through each hallowed gate,
Where martyrs glory, in peace await
It sweeps beyond the solemn plain,
Peals over Alps, across the main.

GOD BLESS OUR POPE, GOD BLESS OUR POPE,
GOD BLESS OUR POPE, THE GREAT THE GOOD!

From torrid south to frozen north,
The wave harmonious stretches forth,
Yet strikes no chord more true to Rome’s,
Than rings within our hearts and homes.

GOD BLESS OUR POPE, GOD BLESS OUR POPE,
GOD BLESS OUR POPE, THE GREAT THE GOOD!

Obviously, he is very erratic, and it has been a roller coaster ride for everyone, not just Americans.
However, IMHO I do not think he has been given enough credit for bringing an end to the terrible scourge of ISIS at the beginning of his presidency.
Also, making NATO members start paying their fair share was long overdue.

Like

It was nice the way he treated the SDF and YPG in Syria who fought ISIS. It showed the world how America was grateful for the sacrifices of its allies and would always protect them. Sorry, I was babbling. In fact, he betrayed those who fought against ISIS and handed them on a plate to Erdogan, one of the key facilitators of ISIS. That’s why Mattis resigned. Personal business interests in Istanbul took precedence over the lives of people who fought the hardest against Islamic fanatics. Interesting editorial in the National Catholic Reporter about the part some right wing Catholics have played in the Trump dysfunction.
https://www.ncronline.org/news/opinion/editorial-catholics-need-confess-their-complicity-failed-coup
It includes bishops and some of the right to life crowd who looked the other way at the awful things that Trump stood for and did in return for his support on some limited issues. It is all well and fine to stand up for the right to life as a single issue, it seems, when you really don’t bother about how people live, poverty, discrimination, injustice and so much more. Not.
So, I do hope there will be some soul searching amongst the right wing, so called orthodox and faithful Catholics in the US. Also, I hope that they now don’t spend their time trying to demonise and undermine Biden. Whom, the editorial says, is a decent man. Unlike Trump.

An excellent analysis Bishop Pat. Trump has been clever in being able to convince large swathes of US society that he is their man and upholds their values. There are, as has been pointed out above, strong parallels with what happened in 2016 in the USA with the rise of populism and what happened in the UK. Indeed Trump, Farage, Johnson etc are all similar snake oil salesmen. All are interested in themselves first, maximising their income, prestige etc at the cost of the gullible who support them and whose lives will be made poorer by the polices they have enabled.

At least the US will soon be rid of Trump. I fear it will be some time before England & Wales has to humbly ask for admission to the EU, long after Scotland has entered as a county and the island of Ireland is re-united.

Worth remembering that throughout this entire covid fiasco, the main thing Peter Tatchell is furious about is his inability to have random sex with men in park bushes.

You might not agree with Thatchell, but over the decades he has been consistently honest and transparent about himself. In contest to most priests and bishops. I think I know whom I would trust most.

Like

12.52: Should we be surprised what Thatchell says and does? No…he advocates for the worst excesses of the gay culture irrespective of consequences. An irresponsible fool.

Like

I think that Tatchell has had a twisted worldview ever since he lost the 1983 by-election at Bermondsey. He wasn’t honest about his sexual preference during it, and couldn’t cope with the awesome homophobic hatred from a traditional white working-class community that he received during it -for example, wishes expressed in graffiti to remove his genitals with garden shears, and stuff them down his throat. Religion was not a feature of this at all, but Tatchell settled on established religion as a scapegoat for what happened to him. There again, as a radical young Marxist-Leninist college lecturer he couldn’t admit that ordinary working class people could form their own opinions (too thick, unlike himself), but had to be led astray by evil bosses and bishops.

Like

I think we were all, at one time, unable to be honest about our sexuality – out of the fear of being rejected – and in my case and many others, the RCC told we were sinful, evil and disordered.

Like

The ghastly confirmed bachelor Simon Hughes won the seat by running a viciously homophobic campaign against Tatchell.

Like

6:12 Hughes connived in, and exploited, the homophobic campaign against Tatchell in Bermondsey, but he didn’t orchestrate it. This was done by a group of rebel local Labour activists who refused to “have a shirt-lifter as an MP” and put up a rival candidate. That split the Labour vote, and let Hughes in. If you were there (I was), you may remember the old bloke, a lifelong Labour supporter, driving a horse and cart around the streets while singing homophobic songs. The point being, traditional British working class socialism was both non-religious and viciously homophobic, including hard-left groups like Militant Tendency. Every single socialist republic in the last half-century has “cured”, enslaved and shot gays as well as Christians. Pretending that the hard Left are good guardians of gay rights is like pretending that the Mafia make good business partners. So, why did Tatchell focus his hatred on the churches? He met the real enemy when he tried to have a go at Mugabe.

Yes re Mary Trump. She’s a qualified clinical psychologist. TBH, haven’t read her book yet just mainly her twitters.
She said she realised that trump was staring at her boobs long ago when as a young woman. Then he made a comment re her boobs which left her stunned. Just in case if you are wondering she’s a lesbian.
Also given his connections with Epstein and Maxwells daughter in the past, its a possibility that he might know something on Epstein.
Also videos in Internet re Trump and the issue of his mental illness. He probably have many labels attached to it such as narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), certain form of dementia (FTD) but the problem is he has never been examined by a mental health expert such as pysch. He has a history of adderall abuse and some form of various drug abuse when young in NYC. what was noticeable was that his manner of speaking coherently with vocabulary had deterioted in the past 15 years. Video in twitter documented this which was interesting to see the difference in decline of cerebral and usage of vocabulary terms.
Its high time for trump to go as he overstayed far too long. Even his mental illness was spotted 4 years ago but nothing was done about it.
Just wondering, psychopathy of various bishops here, what’s their traits that we could spot or see a mile off them??

It’s actually not just bishops – people with symptoms of personality disorders are over-represented on boards of many companies. This is often good for the company because they perceive anything which is a threat to the company as a threat to themselves.
The less adaptive symptoms we can see in the church are a refusal to accept responsibility, an identification of self with the institution, over-reacting to any challenge and strangest of all, a total lack of conscience or emotion. Some people with symptoms will genuinely think everyone is just pretending at empathy or emotions, and you won’t be able to spot them because they literally act like everyone else.
Pat I’ll understand if you cut this bit off
I have seen this in Dom Cuthbert Brogan – he will tell you everyone else is evil and are the cause of all his problems while relentlessly manipulating and causing his own problems!

People who imbibe the mainstream media “news” reports, haven’t got a clue about the truth about Trump. You drink in the hatred for him (sinful, if you think about it, given that we are all supposed to be Catholics) – but remember, Trump wasn’t always hated. Before he stood for office, he was loved and admired by the very people who are now attacking him. They couldn’t believe it when they realised that his agenda was to drain the swamp. Shock horror. They didn’t realise that he really cared about the ordinary working people. Pity they hadn’t spoken to some of his employees; from the humblest cleaners, through every level of his businesses, his employees praise him to the skies. Did you know that he knows the name of every employee in his pay, in ever business establishment, and when he visits, he speaks to each one, asking about themselves and their families? Of course not. You won’t hear that on the BBC Or RTE or whatever is the Irish equivalent of “British Biased Cheats”, trust me. Liars, the lot of them. It’s a pity so many people believe their lies – they are crackers, right enough, blatant lies, I have to admit, and the presenters are so plausible so that without an education in how to keep your critical faculty on high alert when dealing with governments and media hacks, it’s easy enough, I suppose, to believe their trash.

As for the riots – there are eye witness accounts proving that Antifa was behind this pre-planned invasion of the Congress building. You won’t know of course, because, as already noted, you believe the garbage delivered by the TV news channels, but those same msm in the USA were announcing the riots before it had actually happened. Clever or what? The gift of prophecy, perhaps? I’d say Google for independent information but it’s heavily censored now, biased against they call “conservative views” and concealing important material. I’m signed up to receive plenty directly, so I suggest you do the same. If that is, you really want to know the truth, the facts. Same goes for the baloney about “the virus” – you are aiding and abetting the introduction of Communist governance under which, in case you haven’t noticed, we are already living, by believing the handful of government “experts” who are treated like infallible pontiffs in the new religion of just keep washing your hands and obeying the State and you’ll live forever… It takes a particular type of stupid to still believe that these lockdowns, restrictions and bans on efficacious drugs in favour of dangerous vaccines, are all about a virus. Gerragrip.

As for the incredible claim that the police are treating the Trump supporters differently from the BLM bunch of hooligans, not remotely true! The mainstream media in America portrayed those BLM riots as “peaceful protests” excusing them on the grounds that America is systemically racist – a blatant lie. Well, it’s either a blatant lie or black people are stupid, because there are more black people entering America freely, of their own free will to live there, than were taken there as slaves. That’s a fact. Check it out. So, what do you think? Would black people choose to go and settle in a country if they believed that, at every level, every institution, was essentially racist? Biased against them? Really? I don’t think so. I’ve known a number of black people, good friends, throughout my life and none of them is stupid. Far from it. I’m a Scot who lived in England for the best part of twenty years – if I had sensed, for a second, that I was among people and relying on institutions like the police which were biased against me, I’ve have returned to Scotland the day before. So, gerranothergrip and stop believing everything you read in the utterly biased media in the UK and Ireland. The fact that more African Americans, Asians and Hispanics voted for Trump in the 2020 (stolen) election than for any previous President, including Saint Obama, tells you how off-beam the clowns are who are calling Trump “racist”.

No, you’re on the wrong side of history by misreading and condemning President Trump. As Jeffrey Sachs, the top economist at the UN said (complaining about Trump being “dangerous” during a press conference, but adding that he was considered a “temporary” problem – interesting…) “He (Trump) is the only thing standing between us and the New World Order”. The NWO is, of course, Communism. As I say, wrong side of history. Oh and, by the way, as well as American Africans, Asians and Hispanics voting for Trump so, too, I believe, did “gays”. He must have been doing something right, aside, that is, from saving the lives of millions and millions of unborn babies not just in the USA but across the world because he stopped funding going to countries where abortion had been legalised. Yip. A very bad man. Give us the Nicola & Boris Show any day… Signed: Sister Sarcasm…

Finally, bishoppat, I’d also like to comment briefly on the information on another thread, if you don’t mind, reporting your decisive action against the person(s) who stole your identity and set up a fake website to mimic you.

Bishop Pat you are correct in saying that Father Stephen Dunn is Rude and Aggressive.
If Father Dunn had not been Aggressive and Rude he would still be in a Parish but that is not the case.
Archbishop Conti took far too long to remove him from the Sacred Heart and sadly Archbishop Tartaglia inherited the situation with people in tears at Clyde Street (Archdiocesan Offices) and on the telephone as well as letters it was horrendous for Archbishop Tartaglia who had to act. and the staff on reception at Clyde Street.
Given the shortage of clergy in the Archdioceses do you not really think he would be in a parish after all he is very health and saying Holy Mass for Latin Mass Brigade.
If Father Stephen Dunn was getting badly treated by the Archdioceses he would be the First in the Queue to Rome but No he is well looked after by the ARCHDIOCES of Glasgow.
And his friend Archbishop Conti has plenty of contacts in Rome.
Father Dunn is only in his early 50’s so you can imagine for years to come how much he will get out the Archdiocese.

Well, I imagine that Fr Dunn will be pleased NOT to be a friend of Archbishop Tartaglia given that two of the Archbishop’s friends are currently on “sick leave” and under investigation.

Off now to enjoy a glass of whisky – blogging here has driven me to the drink!

Byeeeeeee!

Enjoy Trisha. You deserve it hen. Pour one for Fr Stephanie as well and tell him the clergy miss him around in the Diocese, like a hole in the heid. I for one though love seeing him all dressed up in his lace and his trains are to die for. He may be slightly bonkers, but I’ve been a big fan for years. I Iove it when he shouts and gets angry .He’s gorgeous in and out 😘

I am good friends with several Priests here in Glasgow. Rev Dunn is well know for temper tantrums and aggression. He is is not a nice person and since ordination he has always been difficult. He is not fit to be in office, can’t be trusted and needs to resign and fund his own life and not rely on Parishioners. Archbishop Phil and the VG are right to keep him out. There are also rumours about his sexuality, but not concerned about that as most clergy here are gay, the latin and lace ones particularly. He should consider independent ministry. Patricia associates herself with odd ball Priests, that is her MO. She is harmless enough and I guess she is frustrated, as she would like to be a Priest herself. She would be a good one as well as she is very clever!

Thomas. Spot on there son. Big test for Glasgow. One Rev Fr in Court in 4 weeks for sex offences, another 3 being investigated. 2 on the sick, the other still in ministry. 1 against a female, the other 2 against males. All shocking, but one in particular is big news and involves a senior Priest. The biggest scandal for years.

It strikes me that there have been breaches of confidentiality here. Canon Law springs to mind.
The Law was my first choice of profession, but I failed (to apply for the course); still, ever helpful, my totally unsolicited legal advice (which comes under the heading of educated guesswork) is, tread carefully, folks. Tread very carefully. Breaching confidentiality is a very dangerous occupation, second only to teaching RE in a secondary school last thing on a Friday afternoon.
I’m off now for another whisky – I’m really getting a taste for this stuff… Shucks, it was great to be weaned of those G & T’s… Thanks, folks…

How long before Traitor Trump ends up in a cell with bars or of the padded variety? That is unless he blows his own brains out or dies of a stroke first during one of his anger fits and bouts of insanity.

He loses presidential protection on 21st January.
I think it’s so bizarre the US president can’t be prosecuted – I suppose the assumption is you have someone sensible elected as president.

Rex non protest peccare is the legal maxim I recall from reading an article when a copy of Magna Carta was brought to New England. I imagine it applies to the Queen too.

It’s a problem knowing what to do/wish for Trump. Impeachment, prosecution, imprisonment: all these bring risks of further chaos like yesterday’s. Yet clearly action is needed to quell the potential misbehaviour of his supporters.
In all charity, I just wish he’d have a sudden end, stroke or suicide…..

No. The Queen cannot be prosecuted. She is above politics and the law. That is why she is driven about in a rolls royce without number plates
