THE DRUG PROBLEM AMONG THE YOUNGER CATHOLIC (MOSTLY GAY) PRIESTS.

Some time ago a Sunday newspaper carried a report of a youngish Dromore priest snorting coke in his presbytery.

The presbytery was also a mini-museum of Nazi memorabilia.

This week an Irish priest was sentence in court in the USA having being caught with a sizeable anoubt of crystal meth in his car.

https://m.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/irish-priest-caught-with-crystal-meth-in-new-york-avoids-jail-39997269.html?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=seeding

Some weeks ago there were reports of a County Down priest buying his drugs from Loyalist paramilitaries.

And the other day on this blog we had the story of a young man claiming that a Northern Ireland priest had raped him after drugging him.

The priest in question has a reputation for drug abusing.

And during the Maynooth Summer of Love in 2016 we had regular reports of certain seminarians supplying other seminarians and lay students with poppers and Class A drugs.

Priests on drugs is just a part of the spread of a drug culture continually developing drug problem in society.

Im told that many business lunches no longer involve lots of alcohol which means going back to the office for the afternoon is difficult but instead there can be a line of coke for each business man to sniff – leaving them still fit for the office afternoon.

Why are young priests and seminarians using drugs?

I can only ponder on the reasons.

Is it a sign of the absence of faith?

We know that illegal drugs are evil and causing great evil in society. How can someone charged with promoting Gospel values be using and distributing drugs tgat make people ill, addicted and often the cause of family break up and suicide?

Is it a sign of an absence of spirituality?

Surely those of us who are called to prayer and a relationship with God dont need artificial and dangerous ways of going on the inward journey. Does not our real pleasure come from trying to be good and doing good?

Is it because that young priests now are sucked in, hook, line and sinker to the secular, dark and promiscuous gay scene where the pursuit of selfish pleasure, at any cost, is the norm.

We Catholic Christians believe and preach that the body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Why woukd we want to pollute that temple with substances that destroy, contradict and mock the presence of God.

Priestly use of drugs is a further proof that the modern-day Catholic priesthood has sunk deep into the sewers of depravity.

And the Irish bishops are tolerating all of this.

Does that not make them the “madams” of

I add the above link to share the replies that were made at the time.

I add; Stephen was a friendly sort when we were in seminary together. By that I mean he was very human in his interactions and stood out for kindness. Sadly many kind, human people seem to suffer from depression. Think of Robin Williams as a famous example.

I too suffered from depression. I often attribute it to the toxic environment of Maynooth in which Stephen and myself both found ourselves. I am grateful that I suffered without publicity. Please be kind to Stephen with your blog; there is enough suffering for him.

Joe McKeever was a spy for Cahal in Armagh at that time and was visting the students in the Seminaries to report back to the weasel at Ara Coeli.

Gosh, that story resonates with me @ 11.20pm. Joe came to Maynooth after Bishop Cahal was appointed to Armagh. Joe’s eyes were everywhere from what I can remember as a young Arnagh Sem. He asked tons of questions but he had another Armagh priest to accompany him and he was more scary and sinister than Joe, a bit like Herr Flick – I can’t think or remember who he was. Other former sems might help me out on this one. It’s strange how names and events can bring your memory rolling back.

Gee re spying for black and tans supporter Bishop? Was that a fact?
That led me to think are certain priests out there spying for their own bishops?
What’s the story with Crean re his refusal to re consecration of Kildorrey altar? Is either that he refused or doesnt believe its necessary to do so (doesn’t believe in jesus or god).
Some bishops in USA did the re consecration or exorcism after some depravity incident on the altar.

Clearly the church was desecrated, fact,
Under canon law the bishop is required to take action , has this case been referred to the appropriate department in Rome

Also what’s need to be discussed re unknown seminarian who is still continuing his studies or is he ordained already.? Thanks DG.

Priests and drugs?
I don’t think the secular gay culture can be blamed for that, considering the way the church blames virtually all of its ills on the outside world, including a notional dearth of priests, which as you know is largely caused by the church itself destroying its own candidates.
If priests are engrossed in any secular culture, that is something which should have been addressed in the application process and formation. I don’t know of any Christian tradition which doesn’t expect all its members to be in some way different from the world outside. If a man can’t do that, just as if he can’t keep his hands off his parishioners he shouldn’t be a priest.
There is also a moral thing here, and repeatedly the lack of moral judgement on the part of bishops and formators keeps coming up, so obviously they are not fit to be in their position. The most extreme example would be keeping a priest who has raped children on – they should both go, preferably to prison.

The drug of choice for actively gay clergy will be poppers, which heighten for some the sense of sexual pleasure and enables relaxation of certain muscles which facilitate anal penetration. Although not all like them, with some avoiding use because of side effects like headaches after etc., poppers are legal in many jurisdictions and easily available from sex shops and online and by mail. There was some proposal in the UK to include them in a re-categorization of drugs a few years ago, but poppers were removed from the list after intervention of some MPs who are popper users themselves. Crispin Blunt MP comes to mind, and he stood up in Parliament and outed himself as a popper user. A posh, chipper, top drawer gay popper user, of course ! Amongst actively gay clergy, especially the younger ones, poppers will be a starting point. Some will move on to other drugs, illegal usually, in their usage development. Yes, I too wonder how come this is such a phenomenon amongst gay clergy. I mean, are they not able to get satisfaction and peace by praying their breviary, or fussing over their lace and brocade vestments. ?! Seems not.

Like

Poppers are nit an introductory drug. They do not lead to use of any other drug. But they are a gateway into (further) sexual promiscuity.

They do make a man ejacuate faster though so it is particularly dedicated to people who like to be penetrated or edged.

Poppers are not drugs, they are totally piss compared to class A and B. Why do you think they are legal.

Dirty, filthy, unnatural habits.

The Bible is clear: same-sex intercourse is morally wrong, gravely so. Many of those engaging in it, especially priests, will face consequences for it, and not just in this life.

It does not matter a jot how these relations are justified to self: there remains only one arbiter on this, the Word of God. And it is crystal clear on the subject.

If a person dies justifying to himself homosexual acts, he will remain in that state after death. I needn’t point out the consequence of this.

Please, homosexual acts are not worth suffering, after death, an eternity of sekf-inflicted consequences over.

Like

I believe adult men who are the ‘woman’ in the relationship may use amylnitrate as an aid to help relax the physical ‘process’ of connecting and becoming ‘one…’
If the other adult male is a ‘taller’ guy, and the other adult fella is a bit on the ‘smaller’ side, then it can help πŸ™„
If somebody hasn’t ‘done’ it in ages, then it is a great aid.
Us men don’t have the same natural ‘bits and bobs’ as women, so lubricant and “poppers” can be an aid in a healthy, loving and committed relationship just as well.
However, saying this (and by approaching this topic by taking away the promiscuous stigma of amylnitrate) is it dangerous as a drug in its own right?
I.e. is it addictive? Does it cause damage to the body or any other biological functions? Does it kill brain cells? Does it actually improve oxygen flow–if not abused?
I know it is prescribed to people who have angina as it – albeit mildly – acutely increases blood flow to the heart, therefore increasing blood and oxygen to the rest of of the body via the cardiovascular system.

Could you please:
1) direct me to where, in something you refer to as “the Bible” same sex intercourse is said to be or described as “morally wrong?”
2) explain the origins, authenticity and validity of this Bible and the evidence for its current applicability in relation to sexual affairs.
3) explain whether ALL the rules regulations and requirements of this Bible are to be followed and taken literally, or, if not, which ones MUST be followed, who decides on such matters, and on what basis.
I will be grateful for your clarification on these matters, and thank you in anticipation.

You know very well, MMM, the relevant passages here (at least six of them throughout, though some argue nine), where same-sex relations are unequivocally prohibited. So please don’t waste our time with your cynicism.

Should you wish to debate with me these passages, I shall gladly do so, but do not insult my intelligence by professing ignorance of at least their existence in the Bible.

Incidentally, I called it the β€˜Bible’ because this is what it is called. Titular specificity is important for clarity; I could hardly have called it β€˜The Atheist’s Guide To Theism’, now could I?

11:09
But surely, dear sir or madam, you don’t expect the good Lord to abide by all of your moral norms.
Scripture has nothing to say about same-sex attraction because it post-dates it. Historically-critically speaking, the various biblical authors understood everyone as possessing only other-sex attraction and therefore consideted same-sex sexual activity as a deviation from one’s nature.
Today, with the benefit of two-thousand years of scientific God-given knowledge, we know that a significant number of the population experiences mainly or only same-sex attraction on the one hand, and on the other desire which transcends pure sexual action to include intimacy and love. Evolution is the primary vehicle of God’s creative impulse.

Like

2.19
You seem to believe in the Judeo-Christian God, in which case I’m assuming on your part at least an acquaintance with the Prologue of John’s gospel. Here it is made crystal clear (to coin a simile) that Jesus is not just ‘the primary vehicle of God’s creative purpose’, but his sole agent. So much for Evolution.
As for moral norms, those I’ve already mentioned are in the Bible, so for you to argue that they are mine is a non-sequitur.
‘Historically-critically speaking…’? Really?
You’re a seminarian, aren’t you? Or a Theology or R.E student? Or perhaps a not-long ordained priest? In any event, eager to show off the buzz-words you’ve picked up. If you knew me, you’d know why I’m not impressed, nor intellectually disarmed.
The ‘various biblical authors’ were only too aware of the human propensity for same-sex attraction, which, dear, is why they wrote about it (six to nine passages). Nowhere in the Bible does it state that the human sexes should be attracted only to their counterparts; it merely points out, especially in the New Testament, the incongruity with God’s will of sexually acting on these attractions. The biblical authors weren’t as naive, nor as ignorant of human nature, as you discredit them.

May I simply, politely, and hopefully, repeat my original request at 12:10. It was for your clarification on three issues, which I now summarise, but ask you to again read my original 12:10 request.
1) Why do you believe same sex relations are morally wrong?
2) If your belief criterion rests on some Bible you refer to, indicate where specifically.
3) Explain the historical and current validity, reliability and authenticity of this Bible, and the extent to which all or any of its commands, injunctions and prohibitions should be followed, why, and who decides relevance for all, or any, of it. By “why” I seek evidential proof.
Now that’s fairly straightforward isn’t it?
I’m obliged to ask again, for so far you’ve provided no answers.
And, I want to win my bet.

Oh, dear, MMM! You either did not read my post at 5.39, or have decided to ignore it unilaterally, specifically the proviso therein, that we stick to the topic in question: homosexual intercourse, and the Bible. Now this is naughty of you, since it is the topic of my post at 11.09, and to which you responded at 12.10. You have no excuse, therefore, for introducing other and irrelevant matters, as you knew, from the get-go, the subject in hand.
In answer to the first query of your post at 7.34, I am, of course, convinced of the wrongness of homosexual intercourse (buggery), because every reference to it in the Bible, in both the Old and New Testaments, condemns it. As simple as that, MMM. I’m sure that, like me, you appreciate such unequivocalness and finality.
In answer to your second query, my conviction here does not rest on ‘some Bible’, but simply on the ‘Bible’. Sarcasm does not pass for intellectuality, MMM.
Paul the Apostle condemns same-sex relations at Romans 1: 26-27, and elsewhere in the New Testament. But then, I believe you already knew this.
Most of the passages that disapprovingly refer to homosexual intercourse (colloquially known as the ‘Clobber Passages’ by moral advocates of this sex) are in the Old Testament. As you seem keenly interested in this activity, you might want to google these references for added … enjoyment.
As for your third query, (sigh) it’s irrelevant, MMM. And you ought to have known so beforehand, since I spelled this out for you in an earlier post.
Don’t call in that bet…unless you first tell the other person that the quey(s) I declined to address had absolutely nothing to do with the topic of my post at 11.09, and was/were as relevant as ice-cream. Such an admission would not make you look bright, but at least you would look honest.

Thank you @9:45:
Having read your response, I am sure to have won the bet.
It was with a Unitarian minister unfamiliar, until very recently, with this blog.
In short, I bet her that no matter how often, nor how politely, I ask for an explanation and clarity, on a religious matter, apart from ad hominem hostile criticism, the most likely response would be obfuscation and/or complete reliance on β€œThe Bible”, and that insubstantial fallback of β€œfaith.” You score highly in that respect.
I’ve little doubt she will concede the bet after reading your helpful response. And the thing is, that those who respond in such manner have no idea whatsoever of its paucity.

Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Paul the Apostle, in Philippians.

Souls are in danger if they entrust themselves to Roman Catholic priests and the worldly institution they serve, one β€˜corrupt, and riddled with corruption’, and, biblically speaking, one irrefutably unintended by Christ.

Why are people shocked or surprised at the morally aberrant behaviour of priests? They don’t pray; they dont believe either in Christ or in his power, because their roles in the Church are at deep and harmful variance with the manifest will of God.

Historically, these men have dragged not only their functionless selves, through vanity and conceit, into moral and personal gutters, they have done the same to generations of unsuspecting, duped and deferential Catholic lay people.

These men are a millstone round the neck of Christ’s earthly body. Let’s do ourselves a massive favour…and throw off the oppression of Romanism.πŸ˜ƒ

I’m not so sure about that @1131. Many of those who have appeared on this blog may not be in to the traditionalist Latin Mass culture of brocades, fiddleback, birettas and lace, but they certainly are in to ‘looking good’ when togged out for the liturgy, with very fine vestments, usually procured from trips to Rome and Gammarelli and Barbiconi etc. I doubt if they spend their money in EuroClero ! They like to look good, smell good, be well coiffed and generally delectable. Actually, lots of the real traditionalists just throw on the vestments and look a bit of a mess. The real sartorial elegance comes from the gay boy priests. For off duty wear, they revert to Levi 501s for the rough and ready look for cruising, or the preppy chino look for non sexual socialising. They really do have to have three wardrobes – clerical, cruising, socialising…

I met Bishop Patrick twice in London. A very intelligent man and a good sense of humour. The clergy there referred to him as pod. My clergy friends say he went down well in Lancaster as well. His first act was to sell the Bishop’s mansion and give the money to the poor. Good on him.

Like

And then Campbell succeeded him – an Aysustinian with a viw of poverty – who bought a new bishop’s mansion.

Like

I didn’t know that Pat. Typical. I suspect that Campbell was a prayerful man but no sense of leadership and not up the the job. I wonder what his clergy thought of him. I recall reading on here a couple of years ago that he had a chaplain working for him who made all the decisions and was not very popular. I know that he was a Larne man, so you will probably know his family.

Like

He sold the mansion but moved into plush cathedral quarters. Pod the fraud was like most bishops, cunning, sly, a great one at pulling the wool over peoples eyes. He was Rector of Allen Hall when it first got its reputation as alice hall which says more about him. Hume couldn’t stand him. From my personal experience of him he was not that nice behind closed doors – a wolf in sheeps clothing. Let’s not be hypocritical. Why is it some people rush to canonise these characters in death.

He didn’t retire to Westminster or Lancaster because they despised him. The hierararchy turned their back on the old fraud for being cosy with Benedict over that silly document Pod produced. He left Office like Trump in ignominy back to the bogs of Cork.

Like

I disagree with most of what you say.
1) Bishop O’Donohue was administrator of Westminster cathedral and was moved to Allen Hall to clean it up. The Alice Hall reputation was before his time.
2) At the cathedral he was instrumental along with Cardinal Hume to set up the Passage Day Centre for the homeless.
3) He cared about the less fortunate and was a welcoming face at the cathedral. He greeted everyone irrrespective of culture or colour.
May he rest in peace.

Like

I would dispute that.
When alone with me he always reverted to conversations about scripture.
His quarters in Cathedral house were small, not plush. He had a galley kitchen (where he cooked for himself most days), A meeting room for business and a room used as a office/sitting/living room and a single bedroom. If he had a visitor he used to book them into a spare room in Cathedral house as his apartment could only accommodate him.
Those who didn’t like him all tended to fall into a single category. They were those who he found syphoning money out of Lancaster resulting in millions of Β£ debt – hence the need to sell bishops mansion to keep the bailiffs away.

However, he also subscribed to the evil English class system and its horrible by-product, his own English Benedictine Congregation which imposed the speaking of a stupid accent on its members and promoted the delusion that the way to convert the English upper class to the RCC was by imitating their ways.. He connived at the activities of the paedophile ring at Ampleforth Abbey when he was abbot there, and hence there is no chance that he will ever be beatified -as was the hope being expressed after he died.

@4:20 pm You are incorrect. This is a matter of great importance. @4.36 is correct. Hugh Gilbert will be appointed to Glasgow. Many care deeply about this subject and speak with great sincerity. In future, please refrain from your rather nasty accusations.

You are delusional. No one know whom the Vatican will appoint. The more loudly someone protests they know who it will be the more laughable they appear.

@3.36 & 3.38pm (Same petson) We know your haste in trying to canonise Pod and show him in a good light. I’m afraid your argument is deeply flawed in claiming Pod went to clean Alice Hall up, it became worse under him. Nobody disputed he had a smile and welcomed people so did many mass murderers. He was not a genuine man, false, insincere. His selling the house was a publicity stunt to curry favour.

Utter rubbish again!!!
3.36pm and 3.38pm are not the same petson as you say. I presume you meant person.
The Alice Hall as you call it was cleaned up by Bishop Patrick O’Donohoe. The previous rector was transferred to Waltham Cross and the to west London and died in 2020. That rector was subject to a criminal trial.
I think it very sad that people who are no longer here to defend themselves are being vilified by anonymous back stabbers.
I cannot speak for the Lancaster. That is for others to give facts.
I am 3.36pm and I am certainly not in any haste to canonise anyone. Perhaps you are playing the devil’s advocate.
The innocents will be defended.
May Bishop O’Donohoe rest in peace.

This lockdown must end. It is nice to be safe. But is it nice to be safe, destitute, and homeless? That’s what I will be soon.

I hope you won’t be any of those things.
Boris Johnson and his council of scientific ‘experts’ have a lot to answer for. They all instructed the nation to go into lockdown, but continued to allow other nations to come into the UK from countries with high infection rates, like China and Italy, without checking their health and without enforcing quarantining. The virus was unquestionabky spread further in thus way. Hiw much extra misery was caused by this negligence we will never know. And we’ll never know how many additional lives were lost.

Jardine is that much in the know as he said Hugh Bradley was Main Celebrant at + Tartaglia Funeral he did not know Hugh was coming down from Aberdeen (as President of BCOS) to Preside at it.
4.49 Hugh will be too old for Glasgow and they would run rings around Hugh Gilbert.as he is a sincere Holy Man not a Admin guy as Glasgow needs someone like + Mario again too many problems.
+ Cushley will be transferred to sort Glasgow out.
+ Mario and + Cushley have already have spoken to Cardinal Ouelett at COB

He’s the gay Irishman living in Scotland with a university education and who is getting enough sex thank you.
He lives off the commission he receives from Royal Mail and An Post for getting people to write to nuncios, bishops, ar hbishops, patriarchs, popes etc.

I agree with you Dom Curate.
Glasgow needs sorting out. Poor Phil was hampered by health issues and recently the loss of his sister. His batteries were run down.
Parishes need amalgamated, churches need closed and quite a few clergy (and their secret and not so secret practices) need sorting out.
Hugh Gilbert is not the man for that task and neither is John Keenan no matter what he or his supporters think. Both good men but not for the task in hand.
Those of us in the presbyterate who try our best and want the best for Glasgow are of one mind. Leo Cushley is the man!

Thanks for your Honest and Sensible reply. DOM stands for Dioceses of Motherwell. and I do not know this Jim S.
I do not have shares or Commission from An Post (Never heard of it) or Royal Mail.
However Bishop Keenan thinks he has got Glasgow and Denis Carlin will be appointed Administrator of Paisley.
So not to cause a witch hunt the Best the presbyterate in Glasgow can do is to contact the Papal Nuncio as wheels are in motion to fill Glasgow as soon as possible with a transfer.
Bishop Toal has said not to consider him for Glasgow.

I’m afraid you’ve misjudged me – it matters not a jot to me that I am taking seriously – i don’t know if Cardinal Hume was gay – I merely ask the question – and whether he was or wasn’t he definitely moved priests accused of sexual abuse onto other parishes thus protecting and enabling them. I’m sorry to disappoint you but I had a wonderful pilgrimage and it did me a lot of good!!

The responses on this blog today have wandered all over the place and few have picked up on the news of Fr Joe McKeever’s death.

One cast-iron fact that seems to have been missed by those commenting on Cahal Daly looking for information about the Armagh contingent in Maynooth when he moved to Armagh is that the real problem person was Willie Doherty. He was nearing ordination, a Derry native, by then addicted to alcohol and far from celibate. It was a real issue for Cahal.
.
McKeever was an older man, former teacher and any gathering of information was about Doherty’s behaviour. Cahal wanted additional sources and not just the word of the deans. You know the rest…..

Disgusting that you would speak in the way you did about someone who died tragically. Have you any concern for his family?

I remember Willie Doherty, who had been taken in by Tom Fee. Unusually Willie had been at the Irish College Rome before coming to Maynooth. The transfers were always the other way, so they must have wanted him out of Rome. Willie, when drunk, used to go round Mary’s at night hammering doors to get in for a bit of company.
He ran off with a Derry priest. They had a bonfire in their garden on which they threw their ordination vestments.

Very true @ 6.32pm that the weasel used Joe as a tout and information gatherer, more fool Joe. The one fact you omit is that Maynooth wasn’t just the only seminary that the weasel sent Joe to as his spy. Most organisations have touts, the Government, Police, army, education, health et al and indeed the Church. Cahal was instructed well by the RUC/MOD to take advantage of using touts within the Church and sadly big Joe was only one of a select few touts. These church touts are still in existence but very few now. You were probably a casuslty Pat of the touts and they still scour your blog and private life.

Willie’s case and treatment by Daly was criminal. He wasn’t the only problem for Cahal at that time when he wore his slippers into Ara Coeli. His prority was to weed out anyone with any connection with Pat Buckley and Joe McVeigh, is that not petty?

Hume was never anti Irish which is fake news after his own personal intervention over the injustice of the Guildford 4, Maguire 7 and Birmingham 6 but more so over the Maguires. Most English and dare I say Irish bishops at that time ignored their plight and suffering.

Bishop Pat, I see the weasels’ tout has expired. I didn’t think they took kindly to touts in Crossmaglen or Portadown. I note with interest the praise from the SDLP and GAA – tells you all you need to know really.
