MARY MC ALEESE, LEO VARADKAR AND RAWHIDE PURCELL.

Mary, Leo and Rawhide Purcell

On Friday night I decided to put my creepy feelings about Mary McAleese aside and watch the show she hosts on RTE, ALL WALKS OF LIFE.

And I was pleasantly surprised.

On this occasion Mary was not standing on her soap box but played a good role as an interviewer.

While sharing sone of her own thoughts, she allowed her guest, Leo Varadakar, the former Taoiseach and current Taniste, to tell us a good deal about himself.

I have always liked Leo and always thought he was one of the better prime ministers our little country has ever had.

I’m a Fine Gael supporter anyway, having no time for Fianna Fail who have always been in bed with the Roman Church.

To me, Fine Gael has always been the party of social progress in Ireland since good old Garret Fitzgerald, on the the brightest politicians Ireland ever produced.

I find Leo very natural and human and Friday night’s programne made him grow in my estimation.

It was nice to hear him talk about his struggle with the racism he found in Ireland and about his journey to come out as a gay man in 2015.

In fact, I was surprised to learn he only came out as gay 5 years ago. I thought we knew that about him for a much longer time.

I was very impressed that he brought his partner with him to Washington to meet Vice President Mike Pence who was opposing same sex marriage.

Mary and Leo were walking St Declan’s Way in Waterford.

And who did they call in upon only the BOLD RAWHIDE PURCELL at Mount Melleray.

I wonder did Leo realise he was in the presence of Ireland’s very own gay Boilerhouse abbot?

And I cant help wondering if Rawhide Purcell fancied our Leo?

He seemed all overcome and all of a dither in the presence of the the fruit of the loins of India and Waterford 🥰

Lei Vradakar – yiu esrimare as beung one of the better prime ministers!! Pat, come live down south without a home and a job and no health insurance…you’ll think differently. Certainly compared to Michael Martin, he is very sharp, clever with spin and media but too full of self glorification through social media outlets. Like many politicians, he is often out of touch with how life really is for everyone else. I admire his integrity about his sexuality. Politically, I do not share the Fine Gael “look after the well off” philosophy. Leave The Abbot alone…he has his foibles to carry into the future. Having our failings, moral or otherwise washed in public is an ignominious shaming. Probably enough for now.

The lesson for today, dear gay lads, is that (1) you can become a priest, a monk, and an abbot, (2) you can screw around like a gay porn star, (3) you can be appointed to investigate and acquit other horny monastic superiors, (4) you can get exposed on a widely read blog about clergy sexual misconduct, and (5) you get rewarded by things like a fluffy piece on TV with the former president and Taoiseach of Ireland.

What a load of S*** if there is proof that is genuine they would be dismissed pronto.
It is all guess work on here.
And the Canon Lawyers have as Civil Lawyers to close it down so it is work in action.

I assume you’re not a regular on this blog, if you think there’s no evidence of the Roughriding Adventures of Rawhide Dick, and especially if you think that the wheels of justice have not completely come off in terms of the discipline of the Church.

You’re getting worse by the day Patsy now you’ve told us your a Fine Gael supporter we can understand. Your admiration for the three stooges Mary Mack, Leona and the disgusting Purcell, wagons the lot of them is not shared by me. They are all a disgrace to Ireland.

I haven’t had a vote in the South for many years.

In the North I have generally voted for Sinn Fein.

Was the programme on RTE ? I think it’s difficult for us on the other side of the Irish Sea Border to get. I’d like to see it. Yep, I bet Rawhide was wet when he met Leo. God job he had his habit on. I guess all this took place before lockdown and probably before Rawhide’s exposure ? I wonder would Leo be so inclined to be in Rawhide’s company nowadays, knowing what we know ?

The RTE player is shockingly bad, technically. Programmes either don’t load or they freeze and turn off every few minutes.

Like

The programme’s correct title is “All Walks Of Life”, and it doesn’t appear to be available on RTE Player to view outside Ireland.
However, it seems strange they didn’t edit out Dom Purcell considering the current scandal swirling around him.

10.29…The episodes were filmed last summer I think….RTE wouldn’t be interested in the adult consensual behaviour of others except if it’s of a criminal nature. Get over the abbot…

RTE is not a moral or religious guide. But even RTE might be interested in hypocrisy

Like

Are you serious, Pat? Didn’t RTE recently publicly make a grovelling apology to Archbishop Eamon Martin?
RTE is still the broadcasting mouthpiece of Roman Catholicism in Ireland. It will never report on hypocrisy by those people.

Pat, the conversation for today’s commentary should focus on Leo Vradakar and his rise to the top in politics, his views on various social and moral issues and his politics in general. His movements and clever management of his image are worth discussing. It would be boring if we are subjected to more thrashing of the Abbot which has been well performed here for far too long. Can we have more mature debate – Leo and Mary. I have more time for Leo than Mary Mc. Leo is an interesting subject, particularly in this present coalition. I am fascinated that he outfoxes Michael M snd Eamonn Ryan at every opportune moment. He is good at presenting his views but sometimes a little too smarmy. He plays the machinations of politics to perfection. I felt safer under his leadership along with Simon Harris in the pandemic crisis. Much more informed and cohesive as a team. This time policies are piece meal and very uncoordinated. I feel Leo was better suited, though I never vote F. Gael. As for Mary Mc….would someone buy her a brush and a decent looking hat or scarf….Her bishopess’s staff needs replacing.!!

Michael M was hopeless on Andrew Marr this morning saying he knew about the EU commission’s plans to invoke Article 16 on the border before Boris phoned him. Bloody liar.

This, of course, is your opinion about a subject requiring discussion. For most who savour this blog, the forthcoming episcopal appointments in Ireland, Scotland and England are matters of urgency and great interest. Thank you.

Leo is autistic. A surprisingly high number of politicians are. Atlee, Heath, Thatcher, Hestletine, Villiers to take some Tory examples.

I’m afraid for as long as the abbot insists on holding on, and his superiors allow him to, he will be a big distraction and a carbuncle crying out for surgery.

Pat, the photo published at the top of this article is the photographic equivalent of a Freudian slip. Look at the front of Leo’s trousers. Tut tut. And in the company of an abbot as well.
Dear oh dear.

10.38: That may be true Pat but isn’t there a time when, after being subjected to much opprobrium on your blog, he should be left alone to work out his life and future. That decision is his alone and that of his superiors. I hope you’re not reopening this well rehearsed theme again. Let’s have a Leo and Mary day or just LEO!!

So you’re another one who wants to engage in cover-up? Who is happy to live with blatant clerical hypocrisy in the Church?
You’re a priest, aren’t you?
Tell us what you have done, and shouldn’t gave done, that you’re so eager to defend this so-called ‘monk’.

Like

12.05: “You’re a priest, aren’t you…” This is the Magna giveaway sign. Your despicable abusive comments, inciting hatred, are as morally repugnant as the behaviour you condemn in others. Magna, you are full of contradictions. I believe in justice – a justice with mercy, understanding and a justice that does not humiliate or crush others. If there is criminal behaviiur, go to the civil authorities. If spiritual and moral failings in vows, seek professional, spiritual guidance. I’m certain that the Abbot is well aware of his moral failings and sins but you want to throw him off the cliff. You are definitely not of CHRIST.

The difference between Rawhide and Leo is that the latter is pretty open and transparent about who he is. Even if he is a politician. Rawhide Purcell is living a lie, sneaking off when he can to get his end away but telling us that he is a celibate and lives a chaste life. That’s patently dishonest. Trust, transparency, honesty and integrity are surely a pre-requisite for being the Abbot of a monastery. If he can’t offer those then he needs to shuffle off.

Like

Pat if RTE or any other media outlet were interested in hypocrisy that you write so much about, they would have every word you print each day all over the place by now. There is a journalist in Waterford City Darren Skelton who loves each week in the local rag love to tell what is happening in the city and county, exposing many different people or groups and their failings. If there was anything in the Abbot Richard Story that you claim to be true, he would have wall to wall coverage for weeks in the paper. So far he has zinch, so what you say is either not true or else he knows nothing about you. Maybe it might be worth contacting him if what you claim is true and you want to put the truth out there.

GAYS are a no go for them it is not PC to carry negative stories about GAYS.

I will consider contacting Darren Skelton.

EastEnder, there is no need to be rude when replying to a perfectly straightforward comment to your earlier post. My preference for informed comment is perfectly reasonable, especially so in the delicate case of Glasgow. One might well request you politely to calm down

Correction…
Here is a Hugh Gilbert quote to the Scottish Government on Equality and gay rights towards the gay people. “it would also make incest and polygamy legal”.
Thankfully the Scottish Government did not listen to him.
So the people of the Archdioceses of Glasgow will not want him.

Arlene and her DUP pals have been whining about how badly they think they are being treated these days by the UK Govt. Well, remember, revenge is a dish best served cold, and many of us can only muster some schadenfreude at what is happening to them and to NI, especially as we had to put up with them holding us to ransom a few years ago over Brexit for their few votes at the time. And them screwing even more money out of the government for them to spend on their pet projects. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and they do not like it. Hence all the squealing. It’s such a satisfying sound to hear. So agricultural. A bit like Arlene herself.

It strikes me that there are nasty vulgar people on this blog with major issues. This is especially true when they just seek to attack one another without reason instead of debating without insult or visciousness. Perhaps this blog encourages this as it certainly facilitates it. However, it is clear some need to go on anger management courses, some need help with alcohol issues, some need counselling for several personal reasons and some need theraphy. No doubt my post will create a barage of personal abuse and insult but is there any real need for any of it. Can we not have healthy argument as opposed to vile abuse. One lives in hope!

Cecily, how do you know that some commenters here ‘need help with alcohol issues’? Have you evidence for this? Or do you merely repeat what others say, without first checking its accuracy, like a child in a playground parroting what older children say just to fit in?

Your post won’t ‘create a barrage of personal abuse’ (that’s your being presumptive again), but it will invite legitimate questions when you make such unfounded accusations.

6.29 Sorry if that has been your experience. It can also be very pleasurable. Cleaning before hand is essential, taking PreP or wearing condoms almost eradicates the chances of catching HIV, but as the bottom is generally tight, it is certainly more pleasurable to the giver than vaginal sex. For those receiving, stimulation of the prostrate is very pleasurable. Don’t let that one bad experience put you off.

@7.40pm what issues do you have? Something has clearly touched a raw nerve with you. It doesn’t take an idiot to see that late night and early hours of the morning rantings of people to conclude it’s the results of alcohol. Even Tommy admitted to this himself last week. Keep up please and stop being an idiot.

Well said 7:40. Anytime a scandal is exposed in the RCC, contributors come on this blog to express their righteous anger. Cathbots, in turn, come on to attack the poster. I guess it is because they cannot defend the indefensible RCC ! Pat, on a separate note :Fine Gael ? Really? What socialist principles do they espouse? I can understand your reluctance to support the party of the RCC- Fianna Fáil given that just like the RCC, they will say anything to get into power. Micheal Martin wud have gotten into bed with the devil in order to become taiseoch but Leo Varadkar, whilst personable and eloquent, supported big business over the needs of the poor and needy.
