NEW DUBLIN ARCHBISHOP DEFENDS THE RELIGIOUS WHO RAN THE CATHOLIC GULAGS.

Farrell

It was interesting to watch and listen to Dermot Farrell’s first address as the new Roman archbishop of Dublin.

First addresses very often are the new man laying down his plan for his time in office.

Farrell drew our attention to the fact that the day of his installation – 2nd February – is also the day that the Roman Church gives thanks for its religious orders.

I was truly shocked to hear Farrell congratulate the “RELIGIOUS” who ran what he himself called the “INSTITUTIONS” – obviously referring to the children’s homes, the Mother and Baby homes, the Magdalen Laundries etc 🤕.

He was obviously taking a swipe at all the recent, absolutely justifiable criticisms as a result of the Mother and Baby Home report.

He referred briefly to the bad things that went very wrong in the Roman Gulags by saying the church took its eye off Christ!

Is that all he has to say about the murder and the torture that happened over 50 and 60 years?

So, a nun forcing a woman to eat her own vomit was simply the nun taking her eye off Christ?

Was it not really about a brainwashed and vicious old tart, who never had a baby in her wisened womb or a penis in her dry vagina, taking her frustrations out on other women she resented for having a different and healthier womb and vagina experience?

And Farrell wants us to celebrate and honour such old tarts?

Farrell also went out of his way to honour those religious who are “contemplatives”.

Bareback Mount Mellerary

Was he referring to, defending and standing up for the likes of Rawhide Purcell of Mount Mellerary and Kitty Kirby of Silverstream located in his home diocese of Meath?

Kitty Kirby

Farrell also praised his Alma Mater – Maynooth in which he was a professor and president.

Was this a swipe at Diarmuid Martin for removing his seminarians from Maynooth?

And a reprimand for those of us who exposed the rampant homosexuality of Maynooth?

In my opinion is that Farrell is a deeply ensconced member of the Irish Clerical Club who like Any in Armagh will excuse, cover-up, turn a blind eye etc on clerical misbehaviour.

Recently Farrell was asked about same sex unions.

He replied: “Why would you bless ” THINGS” like that”?

I think we will see Farrell being a Roman hard-liner.

We will see him fully supporting Gaynooth.

We will see him issue antediluvian statements on sociosexual progress in Ireland.

For all his talk about involving religious and  laity in church life the only persons in the Pro-Cathedral sanctuary, apart from the nominal readers, were three archbishops and a few clerics.

As a clericalist he may address DM’s the poor relationship between archbishop’s house and the Dublin clergy?

On the other hand in a couple of year’s time the Dublin clergy could be doing what they did post McQuaid and during the Ryan time and be saying: “Come back DM. All’s forgiven?

Time will tell.

In the meantime, those of us who long for the total castration of the RCC in Ireland have our cause forwarded when Rome puts people like Farrell in the firing line.

They have to be lucky all the time. We only have to lucky occasionally.

Pat the Pro cathedral would have been packed to the rafters but the Government said NO we are in Covid times.
I have never in my life seen a “cleric” write words like you do.
However you will call for the Auxiliary Bishop of Armagh when he takes over Down and Connor to give you the last rites of Holy Mother Church although it is a long time away Thank God

Not much new to see here, I’m afraid. ON VOCATIONS, lack of clergy and ageing clergy: Just close more churches, rationalise more, draw in more; but, this just ignores the core problem, which is why young men do not come forward for priesthood ? Could you blame them when they look around at the role models there are out there, and they see the dysfunction of the clerical culture. There’s no mention of dealing with those problems, or even extending the net to married men and even women. More of the same. ON KEY PRIORITIES: Just the usual buzz words of evangelisation and a missionary Church. What does that mean ? It just means focussing on a smaller and smaller distillation of people. The question is, why are people losing interest in the faith and the Church ? The usual response is to blame those people, rather than to look at what it is about the Church in these days and what it teaches that is off putting to people. There’s no mention of that. ON SAFEGUARDING: The usual stuff about that. Nothing new. No attempt either to think about what it is about the clerical culture and priests that led us in to this matter. I would suggest that many of those dysfunctions are still there, more contained because of safeguarding measures and vigilance, but still there and still bubbling away. Look at all the dysfunctional and hypocritical clergy behaviour we see reported on this site. It’s all symptomatic of something really very wrong about the clerical culture and priesthood as practiced today. ON MOTHER AND BABY HOMES: He very deftly shifts the blame on to the religious and institutions of the past that were at the core of this, but carefully says nothing about the Church that enabled such wicked behaviour. How do you think that these people were able to do this for so long. Who were the enablers ? Perhaps he could mention his predecessor bishops who stoked that miserable religious culture in which these religious were brought up, trained and enabled to do these terrible deeds ? A very partial and selective assessment by the new archbishop. As I said, Not much new to see here, I’m afraid. Not a great start Pat to be shure. I am reminded of some lovely Sisters who used always to get for their Chaplain a priest who had been caught in some desperate situation. The poor craythurs honest to God. Most Sisters I have known have been salt of the earth types, great women, lovely, as I’m sure you would agree. But a small minority I have always called old witches, or as I heard an English priest say, Sister Vinegar Tits. Honest to Jesus

The church has no moral or spiritual authority left to claim any position to teach what it defines as faith, spiritual, or moral guidance with the scandals and abuse it inflicts on people. Those who stay within its’ walls by staying and keeping silent support all the wrongdoing. Silence in the face of evil is not an option.

Well said, Father Richard. Ignore the hatemonger at 11.15. Probably a frightened priest kiddie-fiddler.

You are right, Father Richard: “Silence in the face of evil is not an option.”
Quite simply put: society will not tolerate it. Full stop.
Speaking up over evil and cruelty is something which society as a whole, quite rightly, demands. Why should our religious institutions be any different?
In my own experience I am far more safer in society than I am in the Roman church (sadly, my case is far from isolated).
Thankfully, for myself, I am now seeing light at the end of the tunnel; a bright light.
—-
I always try my best to serve Our Lord – I have never hurt a soul.
I still do have a vocation to serve Our Lord as a Catholic priest – but not as a Roman priest: to do so would be at complete odds with my conscience.
I will always serve the Lord – I hope to serve Him in His people, His creation.
Without the Lord I am nothing – He is my light and my Salvation. He guides my path and makes safe and straight my way.
I see the Lord in others, in my fellow man and woman – and most certainly in those who are in need or suffering. The hungry.
—-
Bishop Pat, I pray the Lord that one day you ordain me to the sacred priesthood.
I may be a little rough around the edges, but I think I have potential… everything must be built on love. Without love we are nothing.
Your Son in Christ Jesus,
Peter

I believe the first thing he will want is 2 Auxiliaries around him who he can trust and who share the same vision. Then he will probably make a lot of new Priest appointments and staff changes. I do not think he is a man to be messed with.

Like

He’s only able to get away with what he wants to do, and have nobody mess with him, because of the feudal, medieval, autocratic, arrogant, unaccountable culture of the Church. However, as the Archbishop alluded to himself when talking about the fall in the number of people who come to his churches, many of us are fed up with people like him presuming to tell us what to do and expecting us to do it and don’t want to be part of that culture anymore. So, I think he needs to learn a new culture and modus operandi, and listen to what we are saying. Otherwise, he and his priests are quickly going to find themselves irrelevant. In many ways they already are. It will get much worse for them if they don’t adapt and change.

Maybe a canonist will enlighten us as to why the Vatican stepped in to appoint an apostolic administrator in Ossory when it’s the role of the college of consultors to elect a diocesan administrator.

Like

It is unusual but not exceptional for a Bishop from a neighbouring diocese to be appointed apostolic administrator. Cannon law permits it, without doubt. The reason is usually that there is no suitable candidate in the diocese sede vacante or a merger with another diocese is being considered. I hope this provides clarity.

Like

There are many good and able clergy in the dioceses of Ossory however no one was consulted .
The Vatican made the move so looks like an amalgamation will come soon.
+ Denis Nulty (a able careerist) will not hang around in Ossory given the time it has took + Eamon Martin to sort out the smallest dioceses Dromore.

The church put priests and nuns deemed not “front of house material” to work in those homes, no training, no supervision, no accountability.

+ Pat, I see that your neck of the woods, Larne, is hitting the news again ?! You’ve got the DUP squealing like stuck pigs because the hard Brexit that they were so keen to push appears to be backfiring on them. Someone should have told them to beware what they wished for. But, I suspect that they are too thick to realise that. So, we will have to listen to them talking about being victimised and betrayed etc. It reminds me of what Churchill said in 1922: “The whole map of Europe has been changed … but as the deluge subsides and the waters fall short we see the dreary steeples of Fermanagh and Tyrone emerging once again.” I suppose it will ever be the case. NI is always going to be troublesome. I wonder do they ever think that it might be partly their fault, instead of always blaming somebody else ?

Maybe we could repatriate some of that money they squeezed out the Brits the first time round when they had the votes needed for a majority for May ? They thought themselves so clever, but look what is happening to them now. There are many who are very happy to see them squealing.

Pat, a friend of mine recently described you as a ‘narcissist’, because everyone else is wrong and you think you are right. It brought to mind an interview with you by Paul Clarke on UTV, in which he more or less said the same, that you’re Johnny with whom everyone else is out of step.

Woukd you accept that you have narcissistic tendencies? It does seem that way. You criticise almost daily the entire Catholic clergy, implying that you yourself are on the correct path while they are not.

Its interesting that your friend managed to diagnose me from a distance and never having met me🙃 How long has be been practising as a psychologist?

I doubt if there is any human being that does have elements of narcissism in them. Indeed a certain amount of narcissism is required for survival.

Where have I said that I. And only I am on the correct path?

My criticisms of the Church of Rome is based on experience and observation.

This is the classic diversion technique always used with whistle blowers. You will have come upon this countless times, Pat, such as when they imply seminarians who complain about being groped have sex problems or are unstable.

@ 11:40. Who gave the diagnosis? Was it Canon Paulus Medicus, by any chance?
Lots of people disagree with organisations that deliberately cause misery and suffering to innocent people. Journalists in particular.
In addition, anybody who criticises individual members of these organisations — most certainly those who abuse or pro-actively cover-up theses abuses of children or vulnerable adults — is anecdotally ‘perfect’ in comparison.

Bishop John may well go to East Anglia. That is possible. It is time for him to move and my information is that his name is taken seriously in Rome. You can never be sure until the announcement is public. My main point, however, is please do not trivialise these matters with silly mistakes like getting an Bishop’s name wrong.

What’s new with you Pat? Nothing. Despite all the positive and uplifting narratives of Archbishop Farrell, you choose what you want to focus on, anything that promotes and feeds into your hate agenda against the CATHOLIC Church. You’ve left it voluntarily: move on: do something more positive and which will make an appreciable difference to humanity. Since of course you’re not a fulltime pastoral minister, you have too much time to be a horribly, nasty mendacious individual. You demean Christ. Farrell is just more of the same, supporting and supported by a discredited institution that has sins on its hands for many decades. It is predicated upon a dysfunctional and discredited clerical culture that has shown itself to be abusive and hypocritical. If Farrell decides that he want to lead that institution in Dublin, then he has to accept that the rest of us are perfectly within our rights to criticise it and him for its evident malaise and wrongdoing. We will leave the respectful lauding to you, the misguided.

The brainwashed and vicious old tart at CTS describes +Dermot Farrell as “the new Judas on the block.”

However, he has some interesting things to say about the church’s teachings on homosexuality which upset her so much. For example:

“He calls the teaching of the Catechism of the Catholic Church on homosexuality merely technical. He also says he has no problem with the private blessing of rings for divorced and remarrying couples and for homosexual couples (though he finds public blessings problematic because people often misconstrue them as actual marriages).”

“Farrell’s treatment of Church teaching and practice regarding homosexuality, for example, is dismissive: “It’s a technical description. People misconstrue that then because it is technical theological language.” He considers amending this technical language, because ‘I think Pope Francis has discussed that (removal). It came up at the last Synod’.”
