THE DISAPPEARED ABUSING DOMINICAN WAS A FRIEND OF SILVERSTREAM’S KITTY KIRBY.

Kitt Kirby

Timothy Schlenz

Timothy Schlenz is now 39.

As a boy of 8 he was abused every Saturday – by Father Carleton Parker Jones – a Dominican.

Eventually he spoke of his abuse but tge Dominican Order had “disaspeared” Jones.

Jones told the boy he was checking his genitals for cancer as an excuse for tge abuse.

He even heard young Timothy’s confession and young Timothy confessed the “sin” he had committed to the abuser.

The Dominicans exonerated Jones and have since hidden him.

Timothy started law cases against the churchin 2018.

CATHOLIC MASS ATTENDANCE

PAT SAYS

These are very interesting and very telling stats about Mass going – especially the Irish ones.

15% of Irish Catholics go to Mass regularly and 85% do not.

In 1958 91% of Irish Catholics went to Mass.

Thats a drop of 76%.

Apart from other considerations, its a sign that many Catholics have copped on to the fact the Roman Church is corrupt.

And that 15% will soon drop lower.

We will soon get to France’s 3% or Canada’s 2 %.

In recent visits to France you find one okd priest in charge of 15 to 20 parishes.

At Sunday Mass you will find an old priest celebrating Mass for two or three old ladies.

Some years ago I had a wedding and a baptism for an Irish family one Sunday.

We had full use of the parish church with the permission of the local mayor. They see a priest and Mass once every three months.

The hierarchy and clergy have brought these affairs on themselves.

People are voting with their feet and the 67-year-old Farrell will make absolutely no difference – especially if he calls same sex lovers “THINGS”

You know this is the thing I find most creepy about the church, the fact at any point you could be in the presence of an abuser and expected to be in ‘communion’ with them.
Luckily I am an adult and as such can choose who I spend time with.

Evening all I’ve been buzzy. Those percentages are interesting 🧐 An empty Easter egg doesn’t really work. So many priests and people have forgotten how to pray The priests retreat to Willie Ball Island and the people just fek off

The census of 2016 showed 78% identifying as Catholic with a 35% weekly mass going. Under 20% was recorded in some poorer Dublin parishes…Where, Pat, did you get your facts and by whom was the percentages gauged? Apart from that the abuse by the Dominican is criminal and he should face the full rigour of civil law. What a shame you have begun a “Harrass and get Archbishop Farrell” onslaught after one day in office. How spiritually and morally disgusting! Sorry Pat, this is despicable. Can you not wish him a prayer of blessing?

Lol this is really funny. You’re interested in having a go at Pat and defending the indefensible.
I do agree though that those statistics don’t have any apparent source. The Twitter feed they come from doesn’t give a source and I have been unable to find a source. Every reference I’ve found gives a percentage in the thirties. The Twitter feed https://mobile.twitter.com/inter_ruinas clearly has an agenda that Vatican 2 was a disaster.
Who in their right mind wouldn’t criticise those blame-deflecting, abuse-facilitating hypocritical spongers?

I do uphold the principle of presenting accurate statistics.

If I’ve got them wrong feel free to correct me.

A number of years ago Diarmuid Martin said that Mass attendance was as low as 2% in some Dublin parishes.

Bishop Pat has the wrong information the attendance pre Covid was 2% – 39% sadly.
So with 2% and parishes so close that is why many parishes will be amalgamating sooner rather than latter.
Depends what speed and priority Archbishop Farrell gives to parish closure and amalgamations.
Even Religious communities are returning parishes to dioceses due to their fall in vocations as well.

Like

Classic deflection technique.
This is the one frequently used by Elsie.
Psychopaths are present in society and sometimes you don’t know who they are. The difference is in society you can take reasonable precautions for your own safety to keep away from them or strategies are used to protect others.
In the church they are not controlled when known about and other people are expected to forgive them and give them another chance. The church should set a better example of child protection but has this misguided thing of redemption.
Incidentally some paedophiles take steps to keep other people safe from themselves so have better morals than some bishops.

Pat I find this brutally hypocritical of you to say “a priest celebrating Mass for two or three old ladies”.
I’m in that category and on attending the Oratory a few times have never witnessed any big numbers. I’d say you’d be glad at times to have ‘two or three old ladies’ in attendance.
I feel this is showing contempt and a lack of respect to me and my elderly friends and exposing you for what you really are- uncharitable and not Christian like!

Like

In your sensitivity, you missed my meaning.

I was pointing to the absence of babies, children, youth, young adults, men, the middle-aged etc.

Am I not “elderly” myself at 68? Many of my best friends have been and are elderly.

Thank you for your reply, you’ve one year on me. I’m old but don’t feel old but do live and enjoy every breath as if it is my last.

Can you please remember in prayer and in your Mass today all those that are battling cancer or just received the diagnosis and those that have lost the fight and gone to their Eternal reward on this world cancer day.

Disgusted to see the Rosminian Barry Farmer IC photo on the Rosminian UK web site.He is in a photo of the Derrsyswood community. That is the same Barry Farmer who has spent time at Her Majesty pleasure due to offences. Would offer to anoint Postulants and Novices private parts to help them overcome any celibacy issues. And is not a Priest in good standing with the church -Yet ok for him to appear on the web site. That is how much respect the Rosminians UK have for his victims. At his trial, he used his own Legal team basically telling the order to sod off . They then claimed he was of good character and did not mention he was not a Priest in good standing. The Rosminians kept silent and did not correct this . And now he happily resides back in the Rosminian Community. Derryswood is described as ” St Mary’s Community House, Derryswood, is home to our senior Rosminians and is located in Wonersh, Guildford.” They neglect to mention there are a number of Priests there not in good standing for such issues. And so those in the local area do not know this fact.

The Dominican Jones is fortunate that he lives in the USA where there is a statute of limitations in many states for crimes such as those he has been accused of. If he lived over on this side of the Atlantic he would not enjoy that immunity from prosecution if he really has a case to answer. The oldest man imprisoned in the UK, for abuse offences, was 101 by the time he ended up in prison, and was given a 7 year sentence, unlikely therefore to emerge. I am sure that there are many religious orders, and indeed dioceses, that ‘disappear’ clergy, or ‘protect’ them, or give them safe harbour. Often, it is for a variety of reasons – sometimes it’s a way of putting up two fingers to everybody for their temerity in daring to accuse one of their own, sometimes it is the most effective way of surveilling someone who could be liable to re-offend. I have some understanding for the latter, because if these guys were just thrown out and let loose, then they could become a problem and reoffend, whereas at least kept within the fold in some way they are encouraged through support not to reoffend and are kept an eye on. I think the courts, the police and the social services are happy with that. It reduces their workload.

It happens in our countries too, priests being harboured, comforted, looked after, taken care of, after they have done terribly abusive things. At the moment the spotlight is on Nichols and Longley for their involvement in the Quigley affair, particularly in the early days when he was sent off for assessment and treatment. And then, seemingly, rehabilitated to a certain degree and given various roles. There seems to be a suggestion of undue pressure from the safeguarding people at that time for the police not to be told of his activities, and it is still not clear what Nichols and Longley knew and when and what exactly they did. This is not good, because whether they like it or not, it is corrosive and undermining of whatever residual trust and integrity they have, especially in the case of Nichols who has had several iterations of this kind. So, it would be good for them to be upfront and to say what happened, and when and what they knew and what they did, rather than spinning it out. Surely, a quick and dirty review of the files by someone who is objective and independent could ascertain all of this ? A trusted QC or retired judge ? Then, publish it. At least then we would know wjether coverup and obfuscation was not the order of the day, and even if Nichols and Longley come out covered in shit, at least we know what has happened and what was their involvement. If they have a negative involvement then it would be right for them to consider their positions, or for the Pope to kick them in to touch. Not that it would harm them very much – Nichols is already on continuing episcopal life support, and I suspect Longley would be mildly relieved and able to go off an do something improving and mildly engaging. Just letting it sit and fester and trying to frustrate transparency is not good for them, for us, or for the people / victims intimately involved as a result of Quigley’s wrongdoing. You know, these days, this is the least we can expect, surely, and is what would happen in any self-respecting, credible and decent institution or business. Apparently not so in the Archdiocese of Birmingham or the Roman Catholic Church. Delay, denial, coverup, lies – these are still the play book of the Church when confronted with uncomfortable things.

Quigley will be having to put up with worse than stalkers where he is in prison. He will not be having a happy time of it, I am sure. That’s the price for his wrong doing and his dysfunction. Jolly of Liverpool will be the same. I have no doubt, however, that both of them will be in some kind of protective self-denial, probably facilitated by some clergy chums who still believe in the fraternity of the priesthood. When they come out, I have no doubt that pity will be taken on them and they will be supported from church and clerical coffers, all part of the clergy mafia and brothers in arms frame of mind.

A massive sentence of 22 years was given a decade or so ago to Bede Walsh of Birmingham, following a long sentence. The Judge threw the book at Walsh, who arrogantly insisted on a full trial and his victims being paraded before him to give evidence. The Judge had the final say, with a long sentence that reflected Walsh’s arrogance and contempt. Walsh was accompanied on a regular basis by a clergy friend, in full clericals, insistently supporting his criminal and abusive clergy mate. Another example of the clerical club, which refuses to accept that this ontologically changed priest could possibly have done such wicked things, and if he did then it could not possibly have been his fault, because he is an Alter Christus. That’s what is going on in all these cases that + Pat highlights. It is the clergy club coming to the help of its members and protecting them as much as possible. We will see further examples of this in due course. Roreeee will be quietly welcomed back in to Armagh, having allegedly done his prayer and penance. Will he have changed ? I doubt it. As one correspondent said a few days ago, Roreee will just have learned how to be more careful. Amy of Armagh is a fool to think that this man is renewed, and is probably guided more by how he likes the warm feeling of having Roreee around rather than whether the man will be a holy and observant priest. The ability of clergy and bishops to maintain such self-delusion and deception is mind boggling.

Was the clergy friend of Bede Walsh Fr Aldo Tapparo who accompanied him in court? They were always clergy chums.

Not so many years ago a Raphoe priest, the notorious Fr Eugene Greene, was jailed for a catalogue of sex abuses against children and young adults. Despite the depravity of the beast his ‘friends’ organised collections for him around Donegal, Glasgow and London.
They collected circa €30k to give him a ‘fresh start’ once he left jail.
That just about says it all!

I suspect that neither Walsh or Tapparo are of the marrying type ! Get my drift ? Too dedicated to their clerical celibacy and priesthood. Apparently ! And up their own arse about it too, from what I saw. So precious ! Isn’t it so deliciously ironic that they were officials making judgements on the marriages of heterosexual lay people on the Birmingham Marriage Tribunal ?! You couldn’t make it up ! Aldo had been a St John of God Brother, then joined Birmingham Archdiocese, Oscott trained (Queen Bee there, I believe !), then at a late stage of life tried his vocation at Farnborough, where he no doubt came up against the resident Farnborough Queen Bee, Lady Sadie, and left the novitiate and returned to Birmingham. Finally, he was gently shuffled in to retirement at 75ish by Longley, in spite of protesting that he wanted to continue until he dropped. Ever the martyr to the priesthood ! Now he’s retired in Oxford, no doubt the Queen Bee of whatever OAP residential block where he lives. I think he still touts himself around various parishes, and has a special affection for the Fathers of the Oratory in Oxford. They are so good to him, apparently ! He will, as he has done everywhere he has ever been, no doubt be the divisive figure in the OAP community where he lives,. loved by some, hated by others, but always playing the game to divide and rule the roost ! Oh, sorry for being so uncharitable ! But any of us who know him know the modus operandi / vivendi of Fr Adlo (as one Irish priest called him once, much to Aldo’s consternation !).

@7.52pm From memory there was an old tartar on the tribunal at that time called Cousins who encouraged Walsh and Tapparro. I think his nicknane was noddy and lectured at Oscott. Kept Couve and Nichols sweet. Up his own behind.

You mean Mgr David Cousins? He’s been around forever. He was Archbishop Francis Grimshaw’s secretary – so that’s really going back. Celebrated his Diamond Jubilee last year with Nursie. I feel highly uncomfortable with clergy passing judgments on people’s marriages – far more so considering Walsh and Tapparo also sat on the Birmingham tribunal. In Westminster there was an old cottager called Mgr Howe, who having been been caught in the lavatories a second time, was shifted by Basil to the Marriage Tribunal. Says it all: the thought of these old perves sitting in judgment is nauseating.

Why did the Ossory college of consultors forego their democratic right and not elect a diocesan administrator?

Like

As I explained yesterday. Canon law allows this procedure when nobody suited to the office is found or a diocese is being considered for amalgamation. You obviously did not read my comment yesterday. It would have saved you time if had caught up with this subject.

Like

Major assumptions at 1:18:
1. That the dissatisfaction with your reply was because it hadn’t been read.
2. That the college of consultors met and communicated the result of their deliberations to the nuncio who communicated them to the Cong for Bishops who made the announcement. (The consultors have 5-8 days to meet from the day Dermot Farrel’s administration ended i.e. his installation). The announcement was made the same day (on a low-key.)

Like

As I said yesterday the college of consultors did not forgo their democratic right to elect a diocesan administrator.
They were informed by the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Okolo that the Vatican was appointing an Apostolic Administrator.
So who know what is happening except the Papal Nuncio.
It also does not say much about Archbishop Farrell and his loyalty to the diocese

The original question posed yesterday was why the Vatican bypassed the consultors. It hasn’t been addressed. Your posts are getting in the way.

Pat I don’t think you’re being very fair making a connection between the abusive Dominican and Dom Kirby just because they were friends. Surely every priest can number three or four paedophiles among his friends?

Like

Oh dear. Some people are utterly confused about the simple subject of the appointment of a diocesan administrator in Ossory. I have explained twice. Rome knew that it would be merging the diocese as soon as Farrell’s appointment was agreed. They told the nuncio, who then informed diocesan consulters that this was the position, and thus it was. For goodness sake, stop the pedantry. Clarity is what matters and it has been provided, without doubt. I trust this is the last of the matter.

Not only is it unlikely that you know that two Irish dioceses are being amalgamated when no one else does but also the fact that you would publicly claim to know under these circumstances shows what an idiot you are and how little you know of the workings of the Congregation for Bishops.

Like

How very irresponsible to reply in such an accusatory tone. Some of us are close to officials and the present situation in Ossory does not require any seeping of information from the Congregation of Bishops., Others know what is happening. They merely choose not to make information public; neither do they speak to you. You really must get a grip. Throwing a tizzy whenever the depth and breadth of your knowledge is challenged will get you nowhere. A more forensic approach on your part would help greatly.

Like

Yes, I call myself a canonist, largely because my knowledge of the law to which the name refers is sound. Put more straightforwardly, I know what I am talking about. The use of careful and, I emphasise, accessible language is most suited to the explanation of what is happening in Ossory. Merger and amalgamation are words those who are not professionals understand. Clearly, their meaning was not discerned by you. I know many readers have found my contributions to this subject very helpful indeed. There have certainly been no complaints about comprehension. My sincere hope is that your mind is now settled.

Like

Canonist since you imply the papal Nuncio informs you yet does not inform the stakeholders being the Clergy and Lay Faithful of the dioceses is astonishing to say the least.
So what is happing to Ferns where is it going is Denis getting it all.
And still no announcement for Dromore and the reason being is Bishop Treanor does not want parishes with debt.

Like

Ah, a good point. The Nuncio informs the VG, not the clergy or the laity. That is the way it works. On your latter point, I can say that discussion is continuing. I am sure we will know the full picture once Rome has considered all relevant matters. Being outside the circle of information, I fear you will have to wait for someone like me to break ranks and reveal Rome’s intentions. Thank you for your interest.

There will be no amalgamations as it’s a question of money – simple. Look to the prime example of trying to establish a new Thames Valley Diocese in England. Westminster, Portsmouth, Northampton and Birmingham would not let go of its richest Thames parishes and the whole idea collapsed. Very few dioceses have amalgamated in recent times within the British Isles because nobody wants to inherit debt or take on dead beat parishes. It always boils down to money with the Church.

Like

You are an ignoramus. You a canonist? You can’t spell canon. You don’t know the plural of diocese. You don’t know what you are talking about. There will not be an amalgamation of these two dioceses. I’d say you and Jim S. are one and the same illiterate.

Barry Farmer will have good company at Derryswood -Is that not Rosminian Robin Paulson who spent time in prison also in the photo, and Bill Jackson another Rosminian who has a past concerning abuse? In the old days when they had vocations, they use to train Novices and postulants alongside the sex offender priests at Derryswood and saw nothing wrong in that -Concerning Bill Jackson residing at Derryswood I copy a news article “Ex priest escapes justice: Rosmini College sex abuse investigation – William Jackson admits conduct

A former Catholic priest who has apologised for sexually abusing young boys at Rosmini College won’t be charged due to his age and the fact he now lives in England.

William Jackson was questioned by police in 2018 following allegations he abused four boys during his time at the Auckland Catholic boys’ school in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The former music and religious studies teacher, who was known as Brother Jackson then and went on to become Father Jackson, was sent to New Zealand in 1968 — despite having abused a young boy at a school in Tanzania two years earlier.

The 78-year-old has told police and the Kiwi victims he doesn’t remember touching anyone — but apologised for the “ugly events” anyway.

“I personally have no clear recollection of what happened but I do believe your account of my sexual abuse in your regard,” he said in a letter to one victim last year.

“I feel terrible that you remember me as the cause of your suffering.

That right there is the reason for their lack of vocations. As keeps coming up here, if priests don’t actually believe they will not be concerned for the future of the church.

Regarding further criticisms of the Archdiocese of Birmingham on this blog, I was shocked when I read in the IICSA hearings that a victim of the notorious children’s home run by nuns had told the visiting Archbishop George Patrick Dwyer of the savage beatings. Dwyer apparently told him that nuns were nice people and would never behave like that. The alternative was Father Hudson’s home where notorious clerical paedophiles such as Eric Taylor and Bede Walsh had been licensed to operate. Any complaint to the nuns would result in another savage beating. There was no escape.
