After vicious and untruthful allegations from friends of Fr Ger Fitzgerald and rougher elements in the Cloughleigh estate the diocese has issued a character reference for the woman involved.
Written by the diocesan safeguarding officer the reference exonerates the woman and describes her as “honest, reliable and trustworthy”.
The reference goes on to applaud her for her work among the homeless of Ennis.
This is proof that the bishop and diocese believes the woman’s account of her six month relationship with the priest and the fact that they had full sexual intercourse.
This led to:
1. The removal of Ger Fitzgerald from The Oratory at Cloughleigh.
2. The cancellation of a planned Saturday night Mass finale and a going away party – in contravention of Covid regulations.
3. The taking down of the very tatty Cloughleigh Facebook page.
4. The end of the 7 day Mass schedule – with reduction to three or four days a week.
Ger Fitzgerald was allowed by Fintan Monahan to take a 12 month sabbatical – or longer if needed.
As this is not Ger’s first encounter with “the fairer sex” he is going to have to decide between celibacy and sexual activity.
The lady involved has suffered much stress and trauma and has important work to do re-establishing her equilibrium.

@8:49 I think you should avoid the argumentum ad hominem and concentrate on the substance of seminary training and what kind of priests they are turning out. Actually, I do agree with you about the quality. My experience of new priests is that they are endowed with an overarching sense of their own specialness coming from that ontological change business of ordination, as well as an inordinate interest in the peripherals of the priestly and clerical life, such as rubrics, and vestments and lace and cassocks etc. My experience is that they don’t get on too well in parishes, because they believe that they should not be gainsaid, and increasingly the laity will challenge them. Many don’t make the grade and pull out or go on to other jobs like in seminaries. And so the incestuous circle repeats itself. There really is something not fit for purpose in our seminaries, judging by the characters that they produce. I think it has something to do with the whole basis of priesthood. Seminaries are just means of propping up that increasingly failing theology of priesthood and the priest.

St Michael the Archangel (who is the same angel entity as Jesus Messiah) stands guard at his front door. The goddess takes pride of place on her throne in the oratory chapel. There is a great sanctity surrounding the lawn outside of his house too. The angels told me that once some people who meant Pat harm came to his house and uttered a black magick hex, but the lawn emitted a smell so sweet that they ran away.

Dear Pat, How apt that amidst a blog posting on Ghosts and spirits up pops a Mass Rock priest who embodies all the attitudes of a church we had all hoped was dead and buried. He is every bit as scary as any ghoul we are likely to encounter. His smug certitude takes us right back to an era when the church was beyond question and way way beyond reproach. Sadly this man exemplifies the mindset of many clergy ordained in recent years. These men take refuge in the trappings of clerical superiority, often strutting their stuff in cassocks and birettas – any thing whcih sets the apart from and above the great unwashed they lord it over. They see themselves as the repository of certitudes and offer obedience to the church as the panacea for all lifes ills. Despite their lack or real life experience they approach the complexities of life as though they hold all the answers beneath their clerical fancy dress.
This priest ‘ Fr Bill’ as he refers to himself has a series of these videos on a you tube channel called ‘Patricius Ministries’ and he sets the record straight on the crusades among other things. However, if these men are highly idealistic and full of theological certainty, I can assure you that the lapse of time, tougher life experiences and a more truthful, realistic awareness of the Church’s travails and crises will change them. They will learn that you can no longer pigeon hole modern Catholics or young people. These young men are well intentioned but misguided in some ways. Mind you, who would want the job ?

So it is your position that Ger is in trouble because he lied? Or because he allegedly had relations with a person who was subsequently portrayed as vulnerable?
Because it sounds like you are indicating that Bishop Lug’s position has nothing to do with sexual misconduct.
It the real driving force a lack of obedience? I am not naive. As an old timer I know the score but publishing the real driving force needs evidence.

Fr Matthew Jolley being a peadophile is Nothing to do with the abuses to the ex seminarian in the illegally obtained the the civil Gagging Order, as far as we are aware over here!
And for clarification, the Liverpool ex seminarian victim is a very strong little soldier. He has done us all very proud!

Voluntary sabbitical leave? instead of suspension, hasnt she endured alot of bullying threats in the street and on facebook? I hope the diocese are taking care of her otherwise if i was yvonne i would take her case to rome.

I feel very sorry for Yvonne as I myself am one of Ger’s female cast offs. As I read Yvonne’s story I realised that One Bang Ger treated ne the same way. Within minutes of getting his rocks off he was up and dressed and gone. I should have seen through it but he’s a player. He’s had enough women to form his own women’s football team. He comes across all shy and vulnerable with women but that’s just the the spider inviting the fly into his web. I am going to tell the bishop about our long fling. I hope the other women come forward too. It’s time this collared Lothario was stopped.

Sure he was driving around in a sports car associating with different women everyday of the week. Even at events always with women. I have never seen him associating with men. Im not surprised. Didnt yvonne give evidence and on two others , god knows how many more. No wonder these poor girls are getting upset, being played like fiddles and then he doesnt responsility for hes actions. He needs to man up , im sure yvonne will do a good a job at making him do so and i hope everything works out for her.
