IS “ONE BANG GER” A SERIAL WOMANISER AND WHATS FINTAN MONAHAN GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

Fintan

Fintan Monahan, the RC bishop of Kilaloe, is refusing to give Ger Fitzgerald’s former mistress a proper answer about how he has handled the situation and how he is going to prevent the priest targetting other women in the future.

Ger

Her has had an unknown number of women in his life since his time in the seminary.

He told Yvonne little bits about a number of other women he had been with.

I don’t know if he came clean with Fintan Monahan about these matters. I suspect he has not.

We know he initially denied his affair with Yvonne but when she produced six months of recorded information to Fintan he admitted the Yvonne matter.

It seems that instead of taking disciplinary action against Ger, Fintan allowed him off the hook by allowing him to take a voluntary sabbatical.

Why does a relatively new priest get a sabbatical.

Many priests never take one.

Im 45 years ordained and Ive never had one – nor do I feel the need of one.

Ger should have been sent somewhere to seek and accept advice and direction and to face the question as to whether or not he is capable or willing to be celibate.

Having secret affairs with women in parishes is never a satisfactory situation and nearly always leads to people being hurt and to scandal.

As you will see in the emails below, Fintan has not properly addressed the Ger situation either with Ger or Yvonne.

It is the old story of bishops not veong honest and open with those hurt by prirsts and the church.

FROM YVONNE

Dear Fintan,

I have heard that you have convened a canonical inquiry into the actions and behaviour of Ger Fitzgerald.

I wish to formally request that I be allowed to give evidence to that inquiry.

Sincerely yours,

Yvonne Drake

cc Archbishop Okolo. Papal nuncio to Ireland.

FROM FINTAN

FROM YVONNE

Dear Fintan,

I acknowledge your email.

At our meeting, you told me very little and I have no idea what the outcome of the investigation was.

Is Ger suspended? Is he on a leave of absence? Is he on a voluntary sabbatical?

And more importantly, what safeguards have you put in place to protect other women in the future from Ger’s predatory sexual behaviour?

Sincerely yours,

Yvonne Drake

Cc Papal Nuncio.

FROM FINTAN

This last email from Fintan is really a two fingered response:

“I will tell you no more”.

“Please stop and go away”.

Not good, Fintan.

Not good.

What next parish will you place him in?

And what of the ladies of that parish?

Exactly same thing happened to the sexual assault investigation into the two former seminarian victims of David Dysky and Aidan O’Brien. Fintan is in his element with cover up and concealment. Let us never forget the actions of Iggy who received the complaints of Maynooth sexual abuse of a Maynooth resident Priest from the parents of Mr. X xxxxx in Iggy’s principles office. Iggy never informed the Gardai or the Dep of Education even though he received the complaint in person while under the employment of the Dep of Education and within School Hours.

I am sure the Guardia has more to do then look into the love life of a priest who fell in love with a priest as there is no criminal offence for too people to fall in love.
Yvonne is certainly not vulnerable now when she can keep contacting people all the time and she is going the wrong way about it to win Ger’s hear back.
Fintan would give all statements to the Guardia if he is every asked but it is only you that goes on about it at 1.28 and then 1.45.
Ger broke his vows so it is a Church matter as for the other two only you think there is something wrong as there are plenty of routes open to Aiden and David even all the way to Rome.

Without wanting to piss on Ger and Fintan’s parades, there is of course another serial womaniser, adulterer and inveterate liar in the news this morning ! I mean, Boris Johnson and his marriage in a Catholic ceremony at Westminster Cathedral. I believe that I can follow and understand up to a certain point the cold logic of Catholic sacramentality and canon law in this matter, namely that since Carrie is a Catholic and is entitled to get married in a Catholic ceremony (presuming that she has not contract marriage before), and that BoJo (who was apparently baptised a Catholic before wandering away and becoming some sort of Anglican) has had two previous marriages, but since they were not Catholic and sacramental (presumably because he was baptised a Catholic and should have been married in a Catholic ceremony or with dispensation and wasn’t so they don\t count ! ?) he is judged never to have entered in to a sacramental marriage. And, hey presto, by a series of canonical leaps, he is judged therefore the be free to marry ! Yep, I get that.
But, what a load of bollocks ! Boris has shown himself to be loose and free in relationships and responsibility over the decades, with at least two past relationships / marriages, a string of children some of whom are not publicly acknowledge, he has been adulterous and duplicitous to those with whom he has been in relationships / marriages, he has been shown to be a serial liar, both personally and in his public life (he has been sacked from various jobs for lying in the past), he has recently been shown to be economical and speculative with the truth over things like the refurbishment of his flat and borrowing money etc. etc.
One does wonder why Carrie has even the slightest belief that Boris will hang around for any substantial time or can believe his marriage vows given his past history ? I’m also surprised that the clergy at Westminster Cathedral can believe that he is a worthy and decent candidate to take such solemn marriage vows given the evidence of his life ? More than that, I think the alacrity with which BJ has been welcomed in to the Westminster Cathedral embrace will stick in many craws, given the fact that the Catholic Church is so good at excluding and holding at arm’s length so many people who have marriage / relationship confusions of their own but want to be welcomed, or who are excluded from holy communion because of some personal circumstance, or who are of difference in sexuality and deemed to be “intrinsically disordered”. Remember also, that in the USA, they are busy trying to exclude the President from receiving holy communion because he does not share in their culture wars approach to moral and ethical issues such as abortion and has a different approach to these problems. All these people will be gobsmacked at the slick way in which Johnson has slid in to Westminster Cathedral, been welcomed, embraced and married, without it would seem the kind of questions being asked about his suitability, honesty, veracity, faithfulness, decency, loyalty etc – questions which they are so ready to ask of the rest of us ! I think Vinnie will have to come out and stutter through some contrived explanation in his moderated Scouse. It will not look good. It does not look good. And spare me the lost sheep narrative ! Johnson is a lying “C u next Tuesday” privately and publicly and should not have been afforded what the Catholic Church declines to give to far better people in every way.

Excellent comment. How can any objective analysis of RCC’s supposed morality and practices support this, quite apart from public perceptions of it?

Like

I’m not surprised. After all he has also f*cked the country while pretending to be a human being and that is the exact game the clergy play.

Like

The BBC has the story in the eyes of the Roman Catholic Church Boris has never been married so in canon law the Clergy are free to marry the persons concerned if they are practicing Catholics so Mrs Johnson was and therefore Father Humphries was fine to Marry them.
However I would like to think that they were attending the Churches course on Marriage that everyone has to do.
Six months notice is also required however the Bishops is fine with short legal notifications just now.
They likely want their Son Baptised in the True Catholic Faith.

Like

Yeah, shortcuts for the high and mighty have always been available since Henry Viii’s day. Rome refused Henry’s requests and look what happened. So Rome, for once, seems to have learned when to acquiesce.
What a shoddy misrepresentation of propriety this RCC shows itself to be, time and time again.

From disability perspective, rcc isn’t seen as a church of equality or inclusivity from your posts. It’s a church for the rich and the favored ones especially in UK rcc.
In that case, rcc of UK is biased towards the rich and the favored ones in case of Johnson and Blair. That’s the demonstration of their true& real actions rather than their pious platitude words that defined them so clearly and cogently. That could be said here as well.
Thats the reason that rcc couldn’t be trusted except for rich and favored ones who can access the church services at a moment notice than the plebs, which really says it all.

If these emails are true, they portray a very defensive and limited response from Lugs to legitimate questions from Yvonne, and evidently Yvonne does not feel that she does know what Lugs says he has told her. They are not the kind of emails from Lugs that are designed to mollify, pacify, bring things to a harmonious conclusion. If I were Yvonne and he was sending those curt, limited, obstructive and defensive emails to me, I would not be happy, and I would ensure that he did not get off the hook so easily. I’d think more of Lugs if he could just say: “Yes, Ger has done wrong, he has taken advantage of people, he has broken his vows, he has a history of doing this, he has lied to me and to everybody else, and I will have to think very seriously about his future in ministry”. That would be a start.

Bishop Fintan is a very hurt and angry man there is no doubt about that but it comes with the job.
He is working with a lying Priest, a large community (Cloughleigh), upset clergy and Yvonne Drake.
Fintan is inundated with emails he has the Cloughleigh people at his home and Yvonne.
So although Yvonne has produced evidence it seems Ger again does not agree and sadly Bishop Fintan never recorded Gers statements.
So we have Yvonne in Ennis and the Bishop cannot answer anything else as he does not know any more.
Pat says there are other women well none have come forward and they usually do in case they get monetary compensation and although it would cost the dioceses it would give Fintan a big chance of getting rid of Ger.
Pat is old school many clergy go on Sabbaticals for more training and not a holiday but it is like the Sun they don’t print Good news just pick points to sell the story and after ten years Ger is entitled to a year and others under ten years can get shorter sabbaticals but Ger is not on a Sabbatical he is with his family on a leave of absence.
What can Fintan do he has to try and get a Canonical case and send it to the tribunal in Dublin and Ger will likely appeal that and it then goes to Rome.
Ger will be on the sidelines for a while as Fintan will not move as he is angry and hurt so as Fintan said how long is a piece of string well some cases are now in the eighth year awaiting Rome.
Fintan lacks enough evidence for a Canonical trial and hopefully the “other” women will come forward or Ger will just walk away however there will likely be no answer in 2021 to this saga.

Fintan has made it clear to Yvonne there is nothing else he can tell her it is time for her to move on and earlier they offered Yvonne psychological counselling so that is up to her to accept or not.
She can have ten volumes for Rome but Rome will not be interested now as Yvonne has made a mockery of the Dioceses with her text messages and emails so the best she will get is the Counselling or maybe a bonus Ger inform her she is the love of his life and a happy ending (it has happened many times)
For Fintan his job is to supply pastoral care to the people of Ennis and he is doing that maybe in a reduced way in Cloughleigh with no Night prayers (9pm) and a reduction in Masses as the fan club has gone.
Fintan’s biggest problem is what to do with Ger and he will just be left on gardening leave.
It is Sunday night and for all we know maybe Yvonne and Ger are away for a fish supper.

I see that + Armagh has finally realised that the Church in Ireland is increasingly becoming marginalised and less relevant to people: “The Primate of All Ireland has said the Covid pandemic “lifted the veil” on the reality of the position of the Church in Ireland, observing that it ranked low on the public’s list of priorities.” Well, it’s good that he’s catching up, at last. I wonder if he will now spend his time on asking himself why this might be the case ? If he read this blog, he might get an idea: dishonest clergy, arrogant clerical exceptionalism, egregious abuse of power and position and abuse of the most powerless, sexual crimes, loss of trust, lack of integrity, rigidity in doctrine and pastoral practice, imposition of burdens on the faithful over the decades, clerical control over society and the imposition of a cruel so called morality on ordinary people…..the list could go on. Is it any wonder, he should be asking himself, that people are a. bit jaded by clergy and the institution of the Church, and don’t trust them anymore. Instead, I imagine, we will get sighs of sorrow over the fact that the people of Ireland have lost the faith; it is their fault; they have turned away. Rather than looking to his own clerical and Church institution and asking what they have done to push people away.

It isn’t the ‘Church in Ireland’ that ranks low on anyone’s priorities here; it’s Roman Catholic clergy.

I wondered for a time whether Archbishop Martin had actually said this, since it is an immature and ignorant conflation of Church with clergy; very ‘un-Vatican II’. And Martin’s not a Vat II secessionist, is he?

But on second thoughts, I accepted that he probably had said it, given that he believed, quite literally, that he brought Jesus to house-restricted Catholics in Armagh during the first lockdown in 2020. How? Well, by going on tour, with Jesus in a monstrance.😕

I wish, truly, that I could say I was making up all this.

While there is room in people’s minds for such superstitious leanings, the Ireland of leprechauns, and fairy thorns, will remain more than folklore in national consciousness.

To be quite honest it sounds like Fintan has done the right thing.
He had a canonical process.
He appears to have treated Ger as innocent until proven guilty.
He sent him away from public ministry for a time of, what we can only assume is “rehabilitation”.
He has met with Yvonne, and while she is now seeking information it is not information she is entitled to.
He has left the door slightly open for Ger to return, and I note that breach of the clerical promise is technically not something Fintan can dismiss Ger for. Like it or not.
However, Yvonne does appear to need counselling to support her. Fintan should offer that. The fact that Yvonne is getting counselling from a person who publishes the details on the Internet is not helpful. Not many people heal in the public light.
Time for peaceful reflection is now.

Many in social media will abuse her experience for their own agenda but she will get very hurt. If she has received counselling – I hope she has – she is transgressing a basic principle of counselling- sharing conversations with others in public fora. Her counsellor would be compromised. Therefore I believe her well-being is not served justly or properly as long as she leaks information to third parties. She must also take responsibility for her acquiescence in sexual intimacy with Ger. Being on this blog serves only Pat’s curiosities…

@3.25 agreed.
@1.20. I find your comment either immature or too based on theory. You should he aware that canonical processes are not usually in public. Also, you may be right about justice being ‘seen ymto be done, but only in terms or criminal matters. I do not think Grr has breached the law of the State? Which may be why Yvonne is instead opting to trial him by public-blog. Most civil disputes are solved well before any kind of public court hearing.
What you support here is a witch hunt not public trial. The man you seek is mot in public ministry, therefore he is currently a private citizen, contemplating his future.
Let us not forget, all of this relates to two people breaking the same Christian calling to chastity. Ger has not breached his promise of celibacy – a point of known fact unless you can show a marriage licence.
Two unchaste people fallen to temptation. One Christian persecuted for outing the priest. One priest’s ministry destroyed. One bishop’s stress in dealing with it. Another bishop’s desire to blog about it to ensure the embarrassment is maximised. One Satan laughing his guts out at the lot of us for witnessing his mischief. May God forgive us all.

Like

@ 8.35, yes, I knew that canonical processes were not usually held in public, otherwise I wouldn’t have mentioned the need for transparency.
The institutional Church (which largely means you priests) still, and stubbornly, hasn’t learned the vital lesson of recent scandals involving the cover up of sexual crimes against children by priests: that the massive deficit in trust of the institutional Church caused by this can be addressed only by absolute transparency in general Church business, especially in canonical processes. If you think that Catholics are going to take the word of priests, especially bishops, that justice in any canonical matter has been served in secret, YOU are the immature one.
No, I am not supporting a witchunt against Ger; that accusation by you is so obviously a non-sequitur, it’s bizarre. I seek transparency in how the institutional Church deals with Ger’s sexual misconduct, including the lie he apparently told his bishop when Yvonne made the accustion(s) against him: his outright denial of it or these, and his implicating Yvonne herself as the liar here.
Speaking of Ger’s sexual misconduct, if you are naive enough, or machievellan enough, to deny the implicit link between celibacy and chastity, I can only wonder whether you have rationalised maintaining your vow or promise of celibacy in this way while sexually playing the field.
Denying this link, as you did, could compromise priest morally by making them easier prey for licentious temptation. Such Jesuitical nuancing makes me think of you as nothing more than a morally oily, snake-oil peddler: someone completely untrustworty .
If Satan could be bothered to look in on this matter, I doubt whether it’s with anything more than open-mouthed incredulity at the utter stupidiy of an institution (you priests) that still, and stubbornly, hasn’t yet learned the vital lesson from the utter mess it has made of the relationship between clergy and laity in the Church: the requirement for complete transparency in all its affairs. Nothing less will suffice.

Like

@12.07
You will find that what I have said merely reflects the navigation of canonical law. A similar reasoning would be employed by barristers, solicitors, and the wrc when dealing with employment laws.

No complainant is allowed the type of access you seek. An employee is entitled to privacy in their employment matters.

If you complained about an employee in a non church setting you would get as much access as Yvonne has.

What is non-sequitur is your comparison of misconduct with illegal matters.

Not that it’s any of your business I have been open here before about struggling with celibacy. I have not had relations with any other person since ordination, or during seminary formation – except for one kiss between first and second philosophy with a lady who did cause me to reflect and commit in one direction or the other.

According to a senior source the blog is making it worse for Yvonne as she has told safeguarding what can she do as she does not know it is going on the blog.
As for Ger he is still in denial and really there is nothing Fintan can do as Ger has asked for a leave of absence which is granted so Fintan has to wait Ger’s next move.
Fintan will never make him a Parish Priest for years now.
Ger is a friend of Willie Walsh so it makes it harder for Fintan although it is Fintan’s dioceses now.
Willie Walsh would do good to advice Ger the correct thing to do and that is find another career he is still young enough.

Like

@12.04. Your point is codswallop.
What she could do was stick to either a civil or canonical process and respect the fact that if she maintained the confidentiality of the process Ger could have been “trialled” without public prejudice of his reputation. Instead she went public and destroyed his reputation in an uncontrolled, rage fuelled manner. If he was not entitled to said reputation than the only way to correct this was in a controlled process, fair to both parties. She must, 100% must have know Pat was going to publish because a) his methology, b) his reputation and c) Pat is smart enough to have asked her consent.
Ger being on a leave of absence makes no difference. If it prevented Fintan from acting than Fintan would have refused it.

Canon law is irrelevant to lay people. It’s more akin to golf club rules that apply to members only. If you aren’t a member, it doesn’t apply to you except for priests, bishops and cardinals. Only state civil laws apply to all.

When jesus was alive, there was no church, no church buildings, no Canon law,no sacraments, no rules except for ten commandments. You may wonder how was marriage conducted that time not as a sacrament. Recall that jesus attended a wedding in Cana, did it mention a priest there in bible , no, did it mention a rabbi, no.

Away ya re obssession with canon law.

Deaf guy, i agree with your point , to a certain degree… golf club members , protecting like all large establishments etc…. but jesus also got mary pregnant without having intercourse defying all laws of the meaning of life, yet three men turned up bearing gifts…
using jesus and the bible might not be the best argument to make your point.

Yvonne already provided six months of evidence that was overwhelming via emails to the diocese and spoke of their relationship in 2 meetings, diocese is fully aware , yet no response to an outcome to her yet. it was announced at a private mass that wasnt aired from tom ryan via text from ger, when yvonne contacted fr ryan he refused to give a copy of the statement to her, she is now building a case file to be presented with all evidence up to and including the after math to rome, which they are im sure inaware .dont think fintan will be impresed.

She wouldnt of made that request if she hasnt been bullied threatened and intimimidated by hes closest best friends, not just supporters. If they continue to do so , she will drive on with the case.

Yvonne already provided evidence and was satisfied, she made that request the day after the other lady in question contacted and provoked her on facebook….

Nice pic of Fr Ger with his white Gretsch guitar. I love Gretsch guitars – they have a lovely tone and a beautiful whammy bar.
I believe Fr Ger has a lively whammy bar of his own 😉

Canon Paul Nener -- Finally prevented from controling and subjugating me -- with the help of his "Powerful" friends in the Civil Authorities aka: Probation Services Personnel, Social Services And MerseyCare and ANGLICAN Bishops 🤢 ! ! !says:

The Rev. Dr. Canon Paul Nener was heavily involved on the General Synod for the Church of England.

httpss://images.app.goo.gl/pZVWLvUGyZ1WUmy18 –

Canon Paul Nener (Liverpool) supported both the motion and the amendment, and made a plea for full co-operation with the medical profession. Experience of drug addicts’ arriving on his vicarage doorstep at 2 a.m., frequently angry and violent, had taught him that, “What we really have to do is see in people something of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
— What an evil, two-faced bastard!
https://books.google.com/books/about/A_Time_to_Heal.html?id=nYerc1uX9QkC

Is this why there were so, so many barriers in Liverpool? It would seem Canon Thomas Paul Edgar Nener is a very dangerous individual with friends in high aces who are willing to “Pull strings” for Paul Nener — very big strings indeed!
Thank goodness Canon Paul Nener has been “caught out” of his own accord — no doubt this will save the poor ex seminarian victim the torment and agony of immense and impossible barriers!
— WELL DONE GREATER MANCHESTER POLICE, INTERPOL, IICSA AND THE NATIONAL CRIME AGENCY ! ! !
GOOD RIDDANCE, PAUL NENER ! ! !
— I FINALLY HAVE BACK MY FREEDOM, HUMAN RIGHTS AND PROTECTION FROM DOMINATION AND DANGER WHILST POLICE WERE BEING TOLD TO NOT INTERVENE BY POWERFUL VERY POWERFUL PEOPLE ! !
Thank you Lord for the protection of your Holy Angels! X

5.50pm – what is this ranting? Have you basically googled Nener and then put them all in a post – it makes no sense at all?

The Police file makes a great deal more sense, I assure you. Just hold your horses.
All will soon be revealed.
Bishop Pat also knows what is about to unfold.

Y on the wall — lol just listened to it 🤣
However, I doubt he will go to prison because they are all protected and people like them don’t usually get sent to prison.
It’s a rotten thing!

Thank God Bishop Pat will be attacking the Anglican Church as it is usually the Roman Catholic Church that gets it daily.
You will be lucky if Pat gives you one days blog.
As you notice Pat never touches the Church of Ireland all those Holy Anglicans.
Well now we have the Church of England Anglicans going to be featured.

First of all it’s spelled fairies, and you can’t be “literally” away with the fairies as they don’t exist, they are mythical. Go back to school. And I can vouch that pat has and is a great support for Yvonne when everyone else has made her an outcast. C

Are you from Russia? 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Bridegroom was mentioned but not the bride. We coukd be sure that the bride was there.
My point is this there is no need for priests at the wedding, nor does it have to take place inside any Catholic church. Remember that time there were no churches at all whatsoever except for Jewish churches.
So it must have taken place at bride or bridegroom house.
No need for church weddings, no need for priests to officiate it. It wasn’t officially sacrament that time.
So what gives rcc the right to officiate the weddings? It doesn’t have to be cos it’s not their pregorative right?
All it needs a minister to do it in a simple place like a beach or garden cos its cheaper as weddings are v v expensive.
Few things that we could glean from the bible was that
1. It took a place in a house not church buildings.
2. No priests(wasnt there cis no Catholicism that time) or rabbi mentioned. Thus no need for it???
3. Assume that the bride was present, nor did it mention same sex marriage. Gays and lesbians were frowned upon that time as we could gather and guess it from there. Although I could be wrong there.
4. Jesus approve alcohol provided it done with moderation.
5. First miracle recorded.
Why did marriage sacraments come into being circa 12th century cos Catholic Church needs to make money out of it. That’s one possible explanation for it. Cos celibacy came into being circa 11th cos wives were claiming their rights as spouse re Church property or properties.
That gives you an idea that rcc is all about money.

In the not so distant past, a sordid tale like this could command £25K for a Sunday newspaper centre spread, e.g., “Father Bang-Her-And-Go Rocks Ennis!”

Hes supporters and closest best friends who clearly are not accepting the reality hes not coming back. Creating more issues for yvonne. Knocking on bishops door , giving him abuse from all angles. If they continue with the bullying threats and tactics she will be forced to take it to rome. Thats what i think she meant.

It would seem the Church of England is just as insidious to her victims and survivors as are victims and survivors of the Roman establishment.
However, when one has both Anglican and Roman establishments, colluding together — one really does have the Devil on one’s back!
The Anglican Bishop of LIverpool used to send Vicars who were in trouble with the Police for paedophilia to Canon Paul Nener ( Thomas Paul Edgar Nener ), apparently, because Paul Nener used to be a doctor ( but only a surgeon ! ). Paul Nener would give “Counseling” / “Counsel” to these paedophiles, some of whom were convicted!
Maybe this fact could shed some light into the dark areas of his easily available “Access” to barriers and obstacles…?
It would make perfect sense!

If they are setting up a councilling service for suicide prevention and yvonne is getting death threats and bullied by the very person organising it, maybe she could contact the source thats providing the service/supporting her efforts and show them the threats and bullying she has endured by this woman and her family….
