OUR LADY OF LOURDES ALWAYS PULLS STRINGS FOR ME AT LOURDES 😊

I have had the immense privilege of leading 28 pilgrimages to Lourdes.

Most of those happened when I was still part of the RC apparatus.

But I’ve had several since I parted ways with the Roman Empire Mk 11.

I love Lourdes and God and Our Lady have always looked after ne there.

As a very young priest I had the opportunity of celebrating the daily Mass in English as thete were no bishops there and the older priests were too nervous to be the main celebrant.

Apart from leading my own pilgrimage I always tried to spend 6 hours a day in the English confessional.

In the confessional I saw hundreds of little spiritual and emotional “miracles”. People left burdens in Lourdes they had carried for years or decades.

OUR LADY PROMOTES ME AS A BISHOP.

On one of those pilgrimages since my departure from the empire, I led a pilgrimage to Lourdes.

I was very careful not to offend or push myself on anyone.

One day we attended the afternoon Blessing of the Sick in the massive underground basilica.

I simply took my place among the laity with my pilgrims.

The sacristan came out and asked me to move to the clergy section and I did.

Then the sacristan came back out and said:/”Thete is only onenother bishop here yoday – a French bishop. He asks that you join him in the sacristy for the Blessing of the Sick. I went.

Thank God he could not speak English and I could not speak French. It avoided an awkward conversation 😇

He and I then proceeded to.preside over the formal Lourdes afternoon Blessing of the Sick.

It was not only witnessed in the basilica but was also broadcast all over screens in Lourdes.

It happened that the Diocese of Ferns were in Lourdes being led by Bishop Eamon Walsh.

Walsh

Walsh and the Ferns clergy were furious and reported the incident to the local bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes.

As a result my party and I were banned from every RC property in Lourdes.

But I was very pleased to have my approval as a bishop from Our Lady

We were quite happy afterwards to have our Masses in a hotel function room.

I was forbidden to enter the grotto area and my photograph was circulated to all the Lourdes security officers.

But I could access God and Our Lady at least as easily in my hotel as I could at the grotto.

I was very pleased to see Our Lady getting one over on the hierarchs and clerics who I’m sure she regards as being like the Pharisees who rejected and tortured her own Son.

Many of the current hierarchs and clerics are the Neo Pharisees 😪

How vile that they should ban you from the grotto. They wouldn’t do that to a female Anglican Bishop. So much for ecumenism. Walsh a vicious old queen who will no doubt spend a long time in purgatory.

“I simply took my place among the laity with my pilgrims.”
Bishop Pat fulfils the advice in the Bible; “But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’”
“The sacristan came out and asked me to move to the clergy section and I did.”
Oh Bishop Pat came to their aid! Oh Bishop Pat made haste to help them!
“I was very pleased to have my approval as a bishop from Our Lady”
Jesus said; “Do not stop him. For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us. Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.”

Yes you’re absolutely right Seamus. The laity are the lowest of the low and should be treated as such.

Like

Shammy boy, aren’t you going to answer 7.23? He or she makes an excellent point about your subliminal regard for lay people: about how you TRULY think of them.
Are you a priest, Shammy? Because your condescension here makes the assumption of priesthood rather a blatantly obvious one.

Like

No, Seamus. You say that a place among the laity is the lowest place.
‘my place among the laity […] the lowest place’.
If you didn’t mean that I suggest you retract it and apologize, because your comment is offensive and redolent of outrageous clericalism.

Like

I don’t think lay people would be amused by you thinking of them in such a disrespectful way, Seamus.

If you have such issues about yourself, that’s one thing, but don’t project them onto everyone else. That’s bad manners.

Are you man enough to apologise for your disrespect, Seamus? Or is lacking balls another of your issues?

Like

I think Seamus gets a buzz from people thinking he is a priest. Is he really that inadequate?

Anon 12:47, some people get a buzz from twisting things more like.
Bishop Pat fulfilled the Bible text perfectly. It is rather amusing how some were so upset by it!

Like

Seamus has answered my question that I asked below for me. Just common manners would incline a person caught out in making such an offensive comment about lay people to apologise and/or say that’s not what they meant, when challenged. What kind of person would accuse someone challenging him of twisting? A troll. He’s a troll looking to stir up trouble pure and simple. I suggest we don’t engage him again because outrage feeds trolls.

Complete nonsense Anon 3:03. Bishop Pat was called forward from the crowd. It was beautiful fulfilment of the Bible scripture. Absolutely powerful.

You certainly are not a member of the Clergy or you must have a nasty Bishop.
The laity are NOT the lowest and that is factual as the laity are the salt of the earth and more so going forward.
How nasty to think the Laity is the Lowest.
the Laity is getting trained up for everything for the future so the Clergy can celebrate the Sacraments as that is what they were ordained to do.

Totally Agree Many of the current hierarchs and clerics are the Neo Pharisees however I Hope and Pray we are in the process of getting rid of them but with the Papal Nuncios that is being sent from Rome with Charlie and Jude makes one wonder.
You are having too much wine on a Sunday as you become to “catholic” for some and they will start to view you as RCC.
However Never stop your devotion to Our Lady and this Month to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Hopefully this week Pope Francis and Archbishop Roche will announce the final third findings into the Latin mass brigade and get them all in the one Church in each dioceses as Benedict was too kind to them.

There’s no reason why the two roles of Primate and President/Chair of the bishops’ conference should not be separated. It would make sense to have the chair serve a fixed term – 5 or 6 years and rotated. It would straight away relieve the holder of both roles of some of his responsibilities.

They do nothing apart from chairing meetings.
As for chair of Bishops Conference they are suppose to be democratic however Elsie and Eamon do not think so.
the Scottish Bishops Conference rotates by voting every four years sadly Archbishop Cushley was third so it went to the Bishop (monk) of Aberdeen and Bishop Keenan became the Vice Chair at that time none of the Archbishops got office.
it will be interesting in England and Wales when Vinnie goes if they hold votes and rota as whoever goes to Westminster will not be Cardinal straight away.

Yes, the Romanists indulge their delusion that they control access to the Mother of God, just as they indulge another of their delusions: that they control access to grace (and, therefore, access to God, and to Heaven itself) through their manipulation of what they call the Seven Sacraments.

No, priest, you aren’t turning to ‘Our Blessed Mother, Comforter of the Sick’, as you make your way, at 5.39 in the morning, to visit ‘a sick elderly parishoner’ ? Instead, you are busy typing on this blog to let us all know how wonderful and self-sacrificing you are in depriving yourself of sleep to do your ‘sacred’ duty.
Never mind. The key words in your post are ‘sick and elderly’ ; these will undoubtedly soon translate for you, priest, as ‘lastingly and financially grateful’.
No wonder there is a spring in your step.
Truly you have had your reward.

You really are so lacking in self-insight, aren’t you priest, that you cannot see what a parody of discipleship you have become?

You lionise yourself, again, before readers of this blog with your self-presumed, selfless dedication to the sick and with your imagined availability to God and to his mother when, in fact, you’re available to only one thing: satiating your massive, self-righteous ego.

Here’s a gentle tip, priest: when you pray, give to God your UNDIVIDED attention. Praying while composing, typing, and posting to this blog isn’t prayer.

And when you do someone a good turn, don’t boast to others about it. Didn’t Jesus himself say not to let the left hand know what the right hand was doing?

Pray in secret, priest, as Jesus instructed, because then the Father can reward you. Don’ t proclaim your prayers showily, like the Pharisees.

Not, I may say in any rational, calm or decent way: usually abusive and vulgar. Not either to share an experience of doing some kind act but usually to spew out your hate speech…Need I say more about your all night through repulsive behaviour on this blog. I, on the other hand, merely thanked God for such a grace-filled moment and before I visit any sick or housebound I pray to our Lady. Admirable, surely. You are to be pitied. Our Lady, Comforter of the sick (and afflicted), pray for Magna. (Do I detect a resentment and jealousy that you don’t enjoy any such wonderful, surprising God-moments!!!).

Magna I wondered whether Chamois was a priest because of the way he made out the woman was at fault in the Fr ger case. However his comments are so ridiculous that I began to doubt that he could even arrive at the very low education level required for the priesthood. Then I thought he was a lay cheerleader of priests, however it is difficult to see how his ridiculous comments would support the church in any way. So I’ve concluded he is just a troll.
Incidentally would you object to me calling you Father? Not simply because it would annoy the cathbots but I would rather have you as a spiritual father than any cathbot.

You may be right about Shammy. Perhaps he might say whether or not he is a priest, eh Shammy?
I appreciate the thought, but I’d rather no one called me ‘Father’. God alone is Father. Look to him for spiritual guidance; he is tabernacled in your heart, and he will provide you with all the good you seek.
The better we come to know the Father the more we instinctively think like him. But beware: this will put you at odds, if you are a practising Catholic, with romanist priests. They like to think themselves better attuned to God’s mind than he is; it’s why most of them absolutely insist on being addressed as ‘Father’. And it is why they co-opt God’s will to their own, especially in terms of moral teaching (like their approval of capital punishment, which they recently expunged 🤔)
See? God would just have got that all wrong had he been left to his own devices. 🤗

Outside of lourdes ground, one is freely to speak or move with impunity, say mass in hotel or on some sacred ground.

The problem with rcc as I found is their vindictiveness and quite very petty in which rcc evicted ex rcc minister buckley out of church grounds.

I wonder how Lourdes is faring at this time ? I guess it will be largely on lockdown, as is the rest of France, and certainly very few visitors from other countries. Aside from the saccharine pietistic side of Lourdes – some of which I can swallow, but most of which is simply contrived nonsense in my view – Lourdes is, in reality, an economic phenomenon that provides work and livelihood for that region. I guess that will be suffering. The thought comes to mind, I wonder if the Lourdes shrine / church authorities will have any concern for the ordinary people of Lourdes and will be helping them out during thiese difficult times from the huge resources that they have garnered from millions of pilgrims over the years ? I imagine not. The flow is usually in the opposite direction, and I imagine that they just wouldn’t even think of helping out people who have had their livelihoods so badly curtailed. They will be more concerned about the fact that the cash is not flowing in to their coffers and will be thinking of all sorts of inventive ways to squeeze money out of the faithful in order to sustain their own status and comfort. It is ever the same with the RC Church.

With bold confidence, we began praying to our Father. In begging him that his name be hallowed, we were in fact asking him that we ourselves might be always made more holy. But though we are clothed with the baptismal garment, we do not cease to sin, to turn away from God. Now, in this new petition, we return to him like the prodigal son and, like the tax collector, recognize that we are sinners before him. Our petition begins with a “confession” of our wretchedness and his mercy. Our hope is firm because, in his Son, “we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” [Eph. 1:7-8; Col. 1:13-14] (Catechism of the Catholic Church, par. 2839).

No, it isn’t wax; it’s definitely a build-up of fluid in my middle left ear. My GP confirmed the suspicion weeks ago with an aural examination.
Am currently being treated with a steroid nasal spray, which so far isn’t helping much, or at all. But mercy! It’s making me gobble almost everything in site with even a hint of sugar, especially ice-cream.
I’ve been referred to a specialist; God knows (or maybe even HE doesn’t, given the fog of Pandemic) when I’ll get to see him or her. Hopefully soon.
BUT! 🤧 Ever one to look on the bright side, me, it helped stop my boozing. No lie. I did my own research and discovered that brandy and ale contain histamines: snot producers AND that these can thicken the snot they cause the body to produce. Hence the woe that is currently my lug hole. The tinnitus was absolutely unbearable, more so than a lengthy Sunday sermon (are there any short ones?) by a ‘good’ romanist priest.
So me and booze are divorced, all of six months now.
The prayers of the ‘good’ priests on this blog finally did the trick. 😀

I think you need to come into the 2020 workings and that is the Sacrament of the Sick can be given at any time and you should encourage your parishioners to seek the beautiful Sacrament before any hospital admissions.
You must be in a dioceses that has many Clergy and maybe you should share that with other struggling dioceses where Clergy are on a pager and cover the hospitals for the full week and the Lay faith goes and visits.
You really sound as a “Me” father stuck in the 90’s when the Church had many curates now in some parishes the clergy cover a few.

I hope there is a Pastoral council in your parish with the sub committees for Finance, Liturgy and Fibric or do you do all that as well.

I posited that “if I failed in my duty” to call to the lady who asked for the Sacrament of Anointing, I “would have” been excoriated…NOTICE the content of my original post. As usual you rewrite people’s comnents. You truly are pathetic. Again, I thank God for the joy of priesthood and that it is still a meaningful way of life and ministry to live. You don’t get it, do you? Ate you still wearing panties? 😁😂🤣

Actually, Magna, I think ‘father’ does get it, since he has acknowledged that any pastoral care is about him. And that’s kinda what you’re saying isn’t it.
I’m disturbed that both he and Seamus have so little awareness of how they come across to others, though. The human formation element is obviously still not working.

True. That is more or less what I’m saying.

And judging by ‘Father’s spirited but embattled rearguard action, he gets it very well indeed.

But what ‘Father’ doesn’t like is OUR getting that he gets it in that way, because he knows, then, he’s been rumbled… as a pious fraud.

3.13: What an amazing imagination you have, O Uoset One!! . You have drawn all the wrong conclusions about me. You are way off the mark in every respect. Pat spike about his love for our Blessed Lady and it just so happened that I received a night call to visit an elderly sick parishioner. Incidentally, she was on my 1st Friday calling list and I told her daughter that if ever she required me to call, to do so, no matter what time. I merely shared a truth about my debotion to our Lady before I ever visit the sick. That’s all. Had Pat done exactly the same as I did and shared his experience – and I’m certain he has visited many at all times ofbday and night – would you be so vitriolic and rudely ignorant? Pat ” boasts” a great deal about his pastoral duties and well done to him. Is that ok but not acceptable if a Catholic Priest shares a similar experience? Strange attitude, strange silly, childish commentary from begrudgers and priest haters. Double standards and hypocrisy truly apparent. You guys…..get a life.

Nice one @2:58 pm! How often have I heard priests and seminarians trumpet their care for the sick, bereaved and housebound, whereas their actual practice tells a different story. If anybody goes visiting, it’s usually the Eucharistic Ministers. Pat’s point about the cat RIP – which most people seem to have understood – is not to prioritize pastoral need as one case more deserving than another, but to include all creation within the totality of God’s love and concern. Father’s typically pompous and self-regarding comments @1:09pm dismissing concern for “dead animals” whilst proclaiming his own mighty compassion remind me of the weasel words of Judas reproaching Mary Magdalene for anointing the feet of Jesus: “He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief.” John 12. 1 – 8.

You are lucky to be able to do First Fridays as most Clergy need to space it out though out the month.
You must be in a small parish alone at 66 years of ave and likely subsidised by the Dioceses.
The laity must have more to do in the Parish of the Dioceses it is NOT your parish it is the peoples.

5.40: It is very easy to write a mocking, debasing and ignorant comment about priests: it comes naturally to the few who simply detest priests, Magna being your cheerleader. It’s amusing how the few are so irritated when a priest speaks about and defends his ministry. Of course, this blog promotes only one person, Pat, aided by a cohort of like minded followers. The blog has a particularly vicious anti Catholic priest vendetta..Therefore no priest will ever be treated fairly, respectfully or justly. But the words of Jesus give comfort: “…You will be hated by many because of (bearing) my name..” Haters are divisive people. Now Magser, I don’t want a Wikipedia discourse about the gospel text: its meaning and relevance is clear for me in my work….

And yet you all moan endlessly that anyone who doesn’t unconditionally praise you is a hater! You can’t have it both ways – actually you should relish in what you think is hatred but is actually politely expressed criticism. Does Jesus have anything to say about his alleged followers who go around insulting people such as the insult aimed at Magna below?

The priest felt the need to inform the blog at that hour of the morning about his ministration to a infirm person and how he was praying for them. Fair enough I suppose but it does strike me as a little odd. While any priest worth his salt would be up and away to such a call, it is strange how he had the presence of mind to comment about that here as he was getting himself together to go. As if he had been up waiting for it or sitting by the phone 🤔🤨

father I have pointed out to you the Sacrament of the Sick can be given at any time.
It is the last Rites you should be called out for during the night.
Contact whoever is responsible Liturgy in the dioceses that you are in and they will explain the changes.
The booklet is as simple as ABC.
maybe you want to be the hero sending yourself to the grave or the cremator.

Thanks for the promotion Father (Dr is a little premature 😃) I completely accept it is usual for a priest to be called out at all hours and that the Sacramentof the Sick is important. I certainly hope to receive it before my time comes. What is unusual however is the fact that his first thought was to tell the blog and then spend the day talking about it.

7.57: I merely shared my experience, not to boast about anything I was doing, but to cobcurcwith Pat’s belief in Our Lady. However, because I happen to be a Catholic priest, some became extremely abusive, obnoxious and ugly – I just thought I should defend my ministry. That’s all. No more. Probably in hindsight, because of the nature of this blog, I should have refrained from discourse. It is literally impossible to be treated with even a modicum of respect on this blog. Magna is the vitriol, poisonous cheerleader under both “Magna” and many anonymous comments. Sadly. I’m glad I gave Pat a good day of commentary!! De Integro, you always comnent with civility, respect, moderation and clarity. Thank you.

Yes he does. But you couldn’t speak about Magna with civility, ‘father’.
So we not only have you going’look at me’, when you get caught out you go, ‘it’s all Magna’s fault’.
I used not to agree with Magna, I thought he overstated it. However you have to pick on him despite several other voices calling you out today. You have done everything to confirm his view of priests.

I have noticed something today.
A priest has been confronted on here with how his comment came across, even told that what he is doing is not in accordance with current norms and is having none of it, in fact has resorted to being sarcy. I thought seminary formation was intended to turn out rounded humans who could relate to others.
Seamus has had pointed out that the plain meaning of his comment is offensive to others and has accused other people of twisting.
What is it with these people? There isn’t the slightest hint of even paying attention to other people! In normal everyday life if several people tell you the same thing like that, you pay attention out of the respect you have for others and even if you can’t see it, you apologise and go away and think about it.
Heaven help you if you try reporting abuse to these people. They don’t listen, the only perspective that matters is theirs. And they seriously want us to think the church cares and anything has changed?
Now wait for the storm of insults because I’ve contrasted these two men with the way a normal decent human relates to other people.

It is not the seminaries to blame in any way the Priest has been Ministering for 40 years so he will be old school and wants to do everything.
They do not want lay involvement it is their parish end of story and Bishops have a terrible time trying to tell them the laity MUST be involved.
So i pointed out the norms have changed but he ignored that and i pointed out the role of the laity and he ignored that.
So God help his Parish and the Bishop as he has around 9 years to go and likely protected by Canon law.
These Priests are holding dioceses back into the 90’s and it cannot continue.
A Priest is ordained for the Sacramental Life of the Church the laity for the rest but who knows just Pray for him and Seamus who have a low opinion of the Laity.
I just hope he is not a Dublin Priest as he is in for a shock as changes are coming like it or not.

Like

The laity are all old too. Since the Council the laity didn’t evangelise the world and they didn’t even evangelise their own domestic patch, ie their families.
The people talking about lay involvement etc didn’t pass on the Faith to their children, or who all lapsed, or to their grandchildren, who are all unbaptised.
Face up to those hard facts and we might get somewhere.
