GAY ADVOCATE FR JAMES MARTIN SJ HAS PRIVATE MEETING WITH POPE FRANCIS.

In a move that will infuriate Anerican bishops and global Catholic conservatives, Pope Francis has granted the LGBT advocate, Fr James Martin, a private audience.

In fact, I think that Francis did it on purpose to piss off the American bishops who went against his advice on giving Communion to President Biden.

“I want to thank you for your pastoral zeal and your ability to be close to people, with the closeness that Jesus had, and which reflects the closeness of God,” the pope said.

FATHER MARTIN’S BOOK

Fr Martin had sent the pope his book – a book welcomed by a Vatican cardinal.

Pope Francis is a bit confusing about gay issues.

He did say “Who am I to judge”.

And then he said gay seminarians are not acceptable.

In fairness, we have seen and are saying the great destruction gay priest cabalsvare causing in dioceses, monasteries and religious orders.

Are there many “sensible ” priests to choose from, ….anywhere?
Well it depends on definition of sensible.
Some possibilities:
Looks after himself first and foremost.
Keeps his head down, profile low, questions nothing, goes with the flow.
Practised at forelock tugging, bowing low and murmering “Yes my Lord: if it pleases you”
Hope I haven’t missed out anything.

The US bishops like Gomez of LA and Cordileone of SF will really be pissed off, and rightly so, because they are rigidly stuck in the era of the culture wars where anything to do with morality, sexuality, relationships and how people live their lives is seen as rigid and black and white. Can you imagine spending time with those two ?! A bundle of fun, no doubt ! Always on the look out for sin. And always judging other people.

THE 1962 VATICAN INSTRUCTION
“CRIMEN SOLLICITATIONIS,” PROMULGATED ON MARCH 16, 1962
Thomas Doyle, O.P., J.C.D.
April 1, 2008
2. Crimen Sollicitationis remained in effect until 2001 when the Vatican published a new set
of procedures for prosecuting especially grave canonical crimes, including certain sexual crimes committed by the clergy. Two official documents were issued. The first was an apostolic letter of Pope John Paul II, known by its Latin title Sacramentorum sanctitatis tutela, by which the actual norms were promulgated. This letter, dated April 30, 2001, was followed on May 18, 2001 by an official document that set forth the norms. This latter document was signed by Cardinal Josef Ratzinger, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Both documents refer to certain serious canonical crimes and among those is sexual abuse by clerics. These documents represent revised procedures to be used by Bishops and major religious superiors in response to allegations of clergy sexual abuse.
31.The reasons for the seemingly perennial problems of clergy sexual abuse and its cover-up will not be found in Church documents alone. One must delve deeper than the documents into the very nature of the ecclesial culture. The documents may be indicators of the official Church’s awareness of sexual abuse of minors and other vulnerable persons by the clergy, but these documents surely are not the cause of clergy sexual abuse nor are they the foundation of the official Church’s response to such abuse.

It isn’t for lay people cos it’s Gossipier blog for priests and sems with loads of backbiting to that extent.
We as lay people have no interest in diocesean changes, its meaningless and innane cos its irrelevant.
I throw bricks(comments) at rcc cos they needed a kick up in their backside.
Its totally a uphill battle to change rcc from bottom (laity) cos its top tier of cardinals who controls it all the way .
Why should we be contributing monies to rcc where we have NO say in rcc matters plus NO OVERSIGHT of where the money is going etc. They rcc are laughing at women especially cos it’s they are fools in rcc eyes, contributing it to rcc with their money cos rcc misogynistic and obsesed with sex and women bodies.
Thats why I didn’t contribute for long time and won’t be contributing to Peter pence this coming weekend.
Jesus never spoke about sex, very little in fact, just he said ‘sin no more’ as he didn’t criticise that woman.

I admire Fr. Martin for his advocacy on behalf of the gay community in all its colours and variations. I also believe that Pope Francis would be more radical if the very powerful curia wasn’t so entrenched. I do not agree with the aggressive pushing of some of the gay politics and what seems very extreme sexual experimentation but it is time for the Church to fully appreciate, respect and embrace every person who wants and desires to belong to its community. It is hypocritical of the church to promulgate a moral teaching about human sexuality which excludedes many but yet has a huge percentage of gay clergy. I hope Pope Francis will move forward against a deeply entrenched conservative curia. Dialogue marked by genuine listening, tolerance, respect and compassion is essential in bridging a very hurtful and painful gap created between different categories of people.

Well the new director or pastoral planning needs to sort out all that co-PP nonsense. There is no office of co-PP. Are they thinking of canon 517 section 1? If so, that is an extraordinary provision and should not be routinely used as it appears to be in Killaloe. Even then the priests appointed under 517 section 1 are not Co-PPs. There is one single office of pastor conferred upon several priests at the same time with the provision that one of them must be appointed as moderator to co-ordinate the pastoral activity. What is this canonical anomaly in the diocese of Killaloe?

I came across this letter to Fr Martin on a more Conservative blog where the author was less than pleased. I can’t help but feel that people who grumble about a necessary apostolate being encouraged are like Saul’s daughter grumbling about King David’s dance before the ark of the covenant. They lack true interior freedom before the Lord and end up in a barren bitterness which they disguise as virtuous protestations.

10.53: A good comment De Integro. Many clerics, sadly, find themselves between a rock and the deep blue sea. As clerics, we know the reality of gay clerics, some in relationships, some who remain celibate, others very covert but outwardly angry about any outreach or apostolate towards gay people, an anger which is a form of repressed sexuality. In today’s world we must respect all people. There cannot any longer be room for a divisive theology around human sexuality in all its forms. Society and culture has moved on from rigid definitions and oppressive moral teachings. The Church has to adapt to a new understanding of modern realities. Condemning, judging and hurting people by moral labels is discriminatory and wrong. For all of us reared and schooled in very conservative values, moral teachings and virtues, the readjusting to acceptance of and embracing the gay community is a big call but one we must try to grasp and respond to with a greater sensitivity and compassion.

5. States of fear- rte documentary.
6. Documentary on ex priest Fr Oliver o Grady.

Frankie is juggling, with apparent cynicism, LGBT concerns and the opposition to them of arch-conservatives in his church. However, the Gospel indicates that Jesus’ style was remarkably similar to Frankie’s: Let him among you who is without sin…; render to Ceasar the things that are Ceasar’s. No one’s position in either case here was fully vindicated; but everyone must have felt a winner.

We share a disdain for the Machiavellian machinations of church power. There are some excellent comments from some clerics but they literally get spat at for daring to have an opinion. The “bitchy” ones do exist, sadly, mostly malcontents and psychologically maladjusted. We also have comments from those who have abandoned religious faith, especially as espoused by the Catholic Church. It is not fair to apportion your stereotype to the majority of clerics. I would guess that a significant number of commenters are non clerics, former clerics, seminarians and former seminarians. All debate, if meant to stimulate real debate about church renewal, should be one of respect and tolerance, even when “the truth is painful and unpalatable”…Gratuitous insulting and abusive narratives should not be tolerated.

Many a priest who comments here is well entrenched in his privilege and at best reluctant to listen to anyone else. For example we have the one who repeatedly claims he understands clerical sexual abuse and nobody can tell him anything about it!
If priests perceive they are being ‘spat at’ here, well frankly it will do them good to get their accustomed experience of being deferred to! For example there is a comment above saying this blog is for priests!
I bet you don’t have anything to say about that.
If priests want a comfortable unchallenging internet forum if they have any sense they won’t look for it on Pat Buckley’s blog. But I don’t think they do – they really come here to try to sabotage Pat’s work and defend the right of the church.
Don’t you, ‘father’!

3.00: Hi Magna or a clone: as per usual, this is a rewriting of my comment. Let me restate my view. Many priests, like myself, do not treat people with any disdain or contempt. We treat people with respect, care and kindness. We know only too well that a past approach by clerics and the Church institution has profoundly hurt and abused many. That we find reprehensible. Those of us who care about parishes and parishioners have engaged in meaningful dialogue with parishioners, with much success. But you never want to acknowledge any genuine efforts by many clerics to work with parishioners in meaningful ways, recognising their gifts and talents and affirming their role as baptised people of God. Many of us do listen and care. Pat’s blog provides a necessary forum for all of us and while I do not agree with some of his narratives, he does challenge the status quo and speaks the truth with conviction. That has hugely challenged all of us. I certainly wouldn’t attempt to silence any critic but I will argue when insulted and offended, as you are prone to doing with every cleric who comments. As a child and teenager I witnessed the deference of people towards priests. Never approved of such behaviour and never, ever expect any such nonsense. Try to at least believe some of us do really care.

I wasn’t rewriting your comment, I was TELLING you what I think of your comment.
You have proved me right by your answer.
Now you may whinge that I’m not being fair to you, but that is a good sign because it is a sign that you are finally getting the message. The message is that outside of your hoodwinked flock, nobody is interested in what you have to say. Nobody respects the power you and your church have had and which you have abused.
What you stand for to me is abuse, corruption and criminality and if you don’t like that, guess what I don’t care.
And you know what? Your church has put itself outside of the international community by its total failure to police itself and engage with any external body at all. So what is coming you will hate much more than this conversation with me, you will see bishops imprisoned, clergy quite possibly tagged and refusal to recognise your church’s criminal micro statelet in any way.
But you’re not listening are you?

‘It is not fair to apportion your stereotype to the majority of clerics.’
The beginning of your comment describes Magna’s description of priests perfectly – wastrels content to live off donations but not actually doing anything that might disturb your comfort. You’re disgusting.

Begorrah! They’ve wallpapered that door in Francis’ study, too. An unforgivable interior design faux pas.

Very funny comments today, Pat. The priests really aren’t doing very well are they!
If someone says he’s stopped going to mass there is do little concern they all have to leap in the comments to express it!
And every time someone says he’s stopped going to mass a cathbot tells him he’s cynical. If the people who don’t go to mass are cynical the ones who do go must be naive!
And every time anyone questions a priest they start wailing. What must they be like when the law catches up with them and they have to go to prison? Apparently Lawrence Soper pretended he was having a break down.

Paul Bayes, the Anglican Bishop of Liverpool, has “retired” after only 8 years.
Of course, this has nothing to do with Canon Paul Nener and his “disappearing” from Liverpool Anglican Diocese in September 2018 after it transpired Nener had lies and there was indeed evidence… ‘Oh no, daarling!
You know you drive me crazy, daarling!’
– “The feeling is mutual, now please take your hand off of my inner thigh! 🤢

Pope Francis betrayed two brother Jesuits to Junta in Argentina – they were serving the poor, he believed them to be Marxists. They were tortured.
Pope Francis has repeatedly covered up child abuse and protected clerical sexual predators – deaf school in Argentina.
Pope Francis – not unlike Paul Vi with Calvi and Sidonna, surrounds himself with clerics who are compromised, Battista Rica a classic case and then puts them in positions of financial responsibility.
Pope Francis left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing – he is as much part of the problem as he is of the solution.
There is something deeply rotten and stinking in the heart of Denmark (the Vatican)
Oh and Elsie was ordained a bishop by one of the Roman Catholic Churches biggest crooks and con artists (an active homosexual to boot).
I could go on…I’m afraid and don’t even get me started on the rape and murder of children – hey their burning down churches in Canada.

Laurence Soper was the Abbot on the Run whose now in a cell he didn’t reckon on – when he was on the run the clergy kept saying he was dead, they meant they wished her was, oh what secrets he could tell and no doubt financially supported by the OSB’s and their half a billion quid tucked away

Nice of the Bishop to send in another Ger, who will also be he’s personal secretary living in cloghleigh!

This Ger will be as useful as a chocolate teapot to the people of Cloughleigh. Conservative and not known for his intelligence. The perfect Bishop’s Secretary 😂

Fed to the wolves…
Sounds like quite the opposite of the last one, maybe that’s why he has been specifically chosen for this project ! 😆
Be hard for the old one to be sneaking in and out of cloghleigh after hours with the new one there, reporting to fintan daily as he’s trusted secretary ! 😁

Having a great laugh at the same auld eejit who keeps commenting today against the cathbots and priests. It’s obvious he’s rattled by them. Saddo.
