BISHOP OF CLIFTON, BRISTOL, BANS LATIN MASS AND KEEPS LGBT MASS.

Declan Lang

Bishop Declan Lang is a canon lawyer and decided to put Francis’ ban on latin Mass into immediate effect.

In doing so he is promulgating the news rules from Rome.

He cannot be accused of doing anything wrong but perhaps he can be accused of insensitivity and haste.

It is important that the global RCC proposes one form of the liturgy and bans other forms that are jampots for religious wasps like the nutcases and rebels who use the Latin liturgy to deny the papacy of Francis, the validity of the Second Vatican Council and to promote the homosexual priests who like to crossdress for Mass.

Both JP 11 and Benedict were wrong to create the slippery slope that has led us to where are today.

Francis had to alternative but to strike swiftly and strongly.

The Latin Mass crowd can always go to the SSPX where they will find a warm welcome.

Cardinal to be Arthur Roach, will apply Francis’ instructions to the “t”.

SPECIAL GAY MASSES

Ideally people should attend the Eucharist in their own parish.

Often, nasty PPs send people searching for other churches.

Gay Masses are generally celebrated by gay priests or gay friendly priests.

But at the Eucharist, we gather as Christians, and not as gay, straight or trans.

Special gay Masses would not be necessary if the Church itself, and its priests, were more enlightened and sensitive to the luves of gay Catholics.

‘’Then, regularly through the day, I join together in the monastic church, marking the passage of the day, until the last hour when night prayer, Compline, asks God’s blessing and protection through the hours of sleep’’.
Obviously with the help of a healthy glass of Bushmills. One is becoming increasingly concerned about the behaviour of my fellow monks. They are an odd bunch! Of more serious concern is the behaviour of monks in other monasteries. Obviously, the risk of my anger erupting at any time is keeping the poor fellas in my monastery in line. But lord, what I’m hearing about the pagans down south! There is some funny business going on. The image of a monk heading off in their civilian clothing to have the devils fun and to do Satan’s business is very distressing. Telling the BOSS in Rome is a waste of time! I am getting very angry again…that darn cook better not overdo my boiled egg again in the morning. Silly woman!! I am nothing if not a modern man.

On that basis, Pat, the Eastern Churches in communion with Rome should abolish their liturgies and use the unpopular Novus Ordo.

Like

You are confusing rite with a historical (and therefore temporary) expression of that rite.

The Eastern Catholic churches in communion with Rome use a different rite from the Latin/Roman rite.

The missals of Pius V and Paul are one and the same rite.

It’s not the church’s practice to use or encourage and older form of a rite when a newer form has been approved.

Ah, thank you, 9:56. I didn’t know that about the word moderator but knew it wasn’t a Benedictine word.

Like

What a quare set up! Moderator is used in the context of entrusting a parish to a group of priests in solidum canon 517 section 1. You don’t see the term used in a monastic setting. It says he was elected to the position. How can you have an election with only two in the community? All very odd.

A themed mass makes no sense whether it be based on sexuality or whatever other gemick the genius of the celebrant has produced. It’s just another unfortunate abuse which denotes a spiritual restlessness, always having to have something new and sensational. The changes regarding the TLM seem strange to me. Liturgical diversity has always been acknowledged in the Catholic tradition. It even exists within the Roman rite (eg. Neocatechumenal way liturgy) what real difference did the toleration of one more varient make. All valid eucharistic celebrations unite us in the life of God through our baptismal membership of Christ. It clearly has more to do with politics than anything else. Bob Dylan said in one of his songs “you gotta serve somebody, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord”.

Like

The proper purpose of the no fewer than three Latin masses was not to be weaponised whether you understood the council or not. JP and Ratzinger were among the anarchists trying to pull the wool over the eyes of genuine enthusiasts like Heenan.
JP’s cliqueyness and outdated ambition to outflank the Bolsheviks (who showed him up with their disappearing act) and Ratzinger’s self-contradictory window dressing were never enough to justify anyone sticking up for the Vatican City State which has lately voided the sacrament of Communion itself.
So much for Mass being a “prayer”. Churches should try rolling out Morning and Afternoon Prayer instead.
This one is only reenacting (in an almost insignficant way) the Paul VI stunt in abolishing the English Mass facing the people. When in Rome, do as Popes do! Le pape a un soupape.

Declan Langvis another of those useless desk priests associated with the repressed gay, Derek Worlock.

Under Lang’s uninspiring leadership, Mass attendance in Clifton has plunged, and has been pointed out, he has no seminarians. He has a transitional deacon in a parish, but nobody after that, and of course the seminary he used, Wonersh, is kaput.

Anyone else presiding over such decline would resign in shame.

Many dioceses without seminarians you say? Good old Vatican II.

Meanwhile, in France there are more trad priests than V2 priests ordained every year.

Pat your remarks about the Latin Mass are ignorant and make broad generalisations which are unfounded. Our ancestors died for this Mass, have you any sense of the timeless tradition of the Church

Let’s ban the Syro-Malabar Divine Liturgy in St Colmcille’s and the Polish Masses in parishes throughout Down & Connor. They are divisive.

No. The Syro-Malabar is a different rite from the Roman rite. The 1962 missal is not.

Like

8.16
That’s the very point. Pius V’s missal is not timeless. 1570-1969 is a long time but it is not timeless. Strictly speaking, it’s an arrangement into a systematized whole of a late-medieval form of the Eucharist.

Trent had far less influence on Pius V’s missal than Vatican II had Paul VI’s.

The sexual orientation of Paul VI is irrelevant just as the fact the Pius V’s immediate predecessor and successor fathered children.

My own objection to the old mass is that it tends to become the point.
For example if you enter a monastery because it celebrates the old rite that becomes your reason for doing it. If you travel hours to go to the old mass then that rite rather than your mass attendance becomes the point.
If these trads really thought the two forms are the same rite they wouldn’t make such a fuss about it.

Declan is very ecumenical (with Anglicans), but like Francis, a fairly contradictory image after all.

Francis is considered liberal, he decided to put an end to the liberalization of the old rite. How can we explain his ecumenical benevolence or his sense of inter-religious dialogue, while showing himself to be intransigent ad intra , that is to say with regard to his own flocks? How can we also pass for the Pope of mercy when not a single word has been uttered with regard to the faithful attached to the old rite and who now appear as second-class Catholics?

I have a unique appreciation for canon lawyers which is colored by a blatant self-interest for which I should make due reparation.

Back in the early nineties on Roman humid afternoons during Reggie’s classes I’d pray that he’d call on the canon law students to translate. I’d be assured of a blissful repose of fifteen to thirty minutes while those canon law souls labored to render a paragraph of gorgeous Latin into mangled English. For that break I am still grateful to those canon lawyers who have since moved on to august positions of authority.

Over 35 we have never advertised, proselytised of sought converts. If all the people we have ministered to in the past 35 years turned up at one time, we could at least fill Croke Park. We are simply here to welcome, especially people turned away by other churches. As there is no foundation, there is no founder. I have never visited Bishop Pat’s Oratory although I would like to one day but some months ago I needed his help – I was in a bit of a tizz and very anxious – I phoned his mobile phone he picked up straight away and understood instinctively my dilemma, he was empathetic and sympathetic and was able to help me practically and solve my problem which he did graciously and immediately. He was very calm, there was no fuss or drama and my peace of mind was restored.
It was a very positive experience of pastoral care and it restored my faith and I am very grateful.

There are many forms of Christian worship and if done with reverence and according to certain norms, are good. Surely though, it is better to use a language that all the congregation understands word for word, than have a language that nobody speaks or can get full enjoyment from and simply parrot responses for the sake of tradition ?
