DOES THE LATIN MASS ATTRACT THE PSYCHOGICALLY MALADJUSTED AND SEXUALLY ACTIVE GAY PRIESTS?

Yesterday, a wise comment maker made the following observation:

“I strongly believe that the missing link which explains the stories you have been covering today and yesterday is crystal methamphetamine. I understand this (and the associated chemsex scene) is now as rife in Dublin and Belfast as it is in London. The substance basically disables the inhibitory function in the brain causing reckless behaviour, and potentially giving free rein to any unintegrated aspects of the personality. This is likely to manifest itself in clergy and religious displaying an interest in the occult (the “shadow self”). Not wanting to overgeneralise, but clergy and religious are relatively likely to suffer a lack of integration because Catholic teaching and spiritual practice tend not to encourage the individual to accommodate the dark side of the personality in a mature way. Hence so much addiction”.

Is the Latin Mass an escape valve for priests and people who are psychologically and sexually maladjusted and damaged?

That, to me, is a perfectly valid question to ask.

When you look at the people who attend the Latin Mass, they always look angry, depressed and aggressive.

They never seem to smile?

And they also seem to always have a chip on their shoulder.

Jesus said: “I come that you might have joy and that your joy may be complete”.

Where is the joy in the Latin Mass crowd?

I can’t find it?

AND THE PRIESTS

The Latin Mass priests seem to be stuck in the 16th century.

Most, if not all of them are gay.

The preach antediluvian doctrines but their own morals make alley cats look like saints.

Their interest in brocade, and silk and lace, and birettas, smack of fetishism.

Their insistence on multiple little moves and actions reminds me of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Mother Burke is a good example. She looks absolutely sexually constipated. She has never seems to have intergrated her personality, spurituality and sexuality.

Why would a man want to dress like that in the 21 st century?

And as for her young acolytes and admirers ???

Mother Burke looks like she cocooned in her capa magna about to burst forth as a beautiful big gay butterfly. The Old Mass does attract troubled priests – you’re analogy is spot on. I have never known a straight priest to wear lace from the tits down.

Big Mick was ordained 37 years ago and I don’t believe he was a Latin Mass aficionado – though wouldn’t knowledge be required for black masses? “Ave, Satanas!” and all that. In fact the rite of exorcism is still in Latin with claims that it is the most powerful language for casting Satan out. Fr Jollie of Liverpool loved the old Mass, and would dress up to offer it when the opportunity allowed – and then afterwards arrange meetings with a dad over Grindr so they could both sexually abuse his toddler son. So, yes the link between the old Mass, effeminate antiquated liturgical vestments and maladjusted human development does need further analysis.

As we announced last weekend, Bishop Declan has given us
permission to take a Sabbatical (time away from the normal parish life but as priests of the Diocese) from the beginning of 2022. This will allow us to find out where we can flourish as a community.
We said last week that we had become a ‘Public Association’ which means that we can accept new members and expand, but the presbytery in Glastonbury is too small, and we cannot grow here. Also, an integral part of our community is the celebration of the Latin Mass, which is no longer possible in this Diocese.
So we will be around until the end of the year, and we depart in the new year. As soon as we know what the Bishop is going to do with our four parishes, and who your new priests will be, we will let you know straight away.
Please pray for us, as we do for you.

Some couples I knew who were coming along nicely enough before they went into an “ecclesial movement” have become stunted after spending more than half their lifetimes in an “ecclesial movement”.

These “ecclesial movements” don’t fall under the recent adjustments to the canon law regulations of the hostile foreign power. Your local (money) float sometimes gets taken away without warning and sent for “missions” to near-uninhabited islands or entertainment spots.

The mentality of having strange “badges”, and of hijacking the decision making processes of archbishops, began before my time when some “knights” were spreading Teilhardism and nudism.

By flaunting old fashioned-looking brownie-point earning gambits like missionary ordinations, archbishops expect preferment, or at least (like Cormac) delay in demotion over their derelictions.

As for wouldbe “priests” always remember you are not a priest for ever. The Vatican pretends you have sworn to your bishop (they always pass the buck) which is to guilt trip you into not having your own mind.

Fr James Martin, S.J. has announced on his Twitter feed that Cardinal Raymond Burke, who was admitted to a hospital two days ago with a diagnosis of COVID-19, is now requiring a ventilator to assist his breathing. Given the Cardinal’s age, that is not a good sign. Cardinal Burke has espoused the idea that the COVID vaccine is part of a plot to take over the world and the Church by rich liberal interests. Cardinal Burke has been a noted public critic of Pope Francis, and his efforts to reshape the Catholic Church into a community characterized by tenderness and compassion towards one another. Cardinal Burke has also been a public critic of Fr. Martin and his efforts to help the Church to be more welcoming to LGBTQ persons. In the spirit of Pope Francis, I ask you to join me this evening in praying for a speedy recovery for Cardinal Burke. And, if this is to be the time of his death, let us pray for a peaceful death and a reception into the loving embrace of God.

In all my years working alongside many colleagues, I never encountered any sinister, weird, strange behaviours or activities that could be described as of the occult or satanic. I’ve mostly worked with normal, well adjusted individuals but have also worked with a couple of eccentrics or bullies. I’m only too well aware of the temptations with compulsory celibacy that when we live for long years without deep intimacy with another person, we can easily resort to other attractions. As Tears saud – “Too long a sacrifice makes a stone of the heart”. We must constantly check out “humanity” in all its fragility, brokenness and sinfulness. We should, as clerics, always check our mental, emotional, spiritual and sexual components. Having a good spiritual counsellor or therapist and good priest friends are vital. Having good couple friends is also an essential to maintain our sanity and normality. When we meet the darkness of our lives in whatever way – and we do – we must seek help imnediately. Those who succumb to drink, drugs and sexual activities must be helped professionally, especially when such behaviours lead to scandals. Good advice, insights and professional care are better than condemnation.

Last time I was in Latin Mass as I saw few young ladies with their veil on. Plus few OAPS. Few tourists were in as well as they popped in for their photo’s.
TLM does appeal to the eccentrics, gay arty types, some straight ones especially some families as well.
It doesn’t appeal to deaf communities cos total lack of accessibility, priest’s back to people, no English cos nobody knew Latin, too long re mass would led to frustration et al.
TLM as mass of Ages was over 1500 years old, what happened from AD33 to 1500 AD, was it spoken in Latin or in vernacular language or Hebrew or Greek?
Why Latin as jesus spoke Hebrew or arambic? Why not?
TLM helped me to get out of new age trap plus reiki. It opened the doorway to evil re reiki or new age therapies such as TLM.
It was hard at first then slowly I was able to get out thanks to TLM re spiritual graces. But I’m very wary re TLM and gays cos of what I had seen some deaf gay men addicted or attracted to TLM. He never stopped talking about it as I was quite cheesed off.
TLM have both good and bad points.
Bad points :
It just enhances more deference to priests which isn’t good in my view.
The more the deference that you give to priests or bishops or cardinals or even Pope, thus you have given them a FULL licence re that they can to do anything that they want to.
It also enhances more secrecy or more hidden walls to be built around them. They don’t like openness and transparency especially SSPX, and few others Latin societies ifsspx etc.
Total Lack of accessibility to people of disabilities in general, wheelchair as I never saw one. But it raise the matter how could a wheelchair person receive HC in altar rails?
I don’t really know that much re the inner or inside world re Latin Mass and priests, is it all gays or???
I just keep my distance re TLM priests cos when they priests were fawning over someone such as mother Burke. This isn’t healthy and not good for psychological development etc.

Dear Friend,
On August 15th (August 2nd) the Belarussian Orthodox Church commemorates a very special Saint who is very dear to many Christians, especially in Russia.
His name is Blessed Basil Fool-For-Christ.
Saint Basil was born just outside Moscow in December 1468 to a commoner family. We do not know much about his childhood. What we do know is that his parents, Jacob and Anna, wanted him to become a shoemaker, as it was a good way to make a living back then.
Basil went to Moscow and served as an apprentice cobbler. During this time, he developed a rather eccentric way of living.
First, he started to appear in public without any shoes, even in winter. Then he began to act in a more bizarre way. He would overturn merchant stands and spill jars with kvas for no apparent reasons. Only later would people find out that the kvas he spilled was actually poorly prepared and dangerous to consume.
Saint Basil was seen as a holy fool, a man of God by many people during his earthly life. When he died on August 2nd, 1554 the Metropolitan of Moscow, St Macarius, served his funeral. Up to this day, people respect this saint and experience miracles by his prayers and intercession.
The inhabitants of Moscow loved St Basil so much that they named one of Moscow’s most well-known sights after him. The famous church with multi-colored cupolas in Red Square is now commonly known as Saint Basil’s Cathedral, even though its actual name is the Cathedral of the Intercession of Most Holy Theotokos on the Moat.
I invite you to learn more about the life of Saint Basil by watching this beautifully animated film (includes English subtitles) about him. This wonderful film will make you understand why Orthodox Christians love Blessed Basil so much! You can cut and paste the link into your server

Rather strange and interesting to read analysis from commenters about dysfunctionality of all kinds being evident in priests, yet not one has provided any clinical research data. I presume too that not one such commenter is a trained psychologist, psychiatrist or professionally trained psychotherapist. We can all make assumptions and observations about one another but making definitive judgments and assertions usually requires professional, academic research to support judgments as true. Many commenters today while lamenting the supposed emotional dysfunctionality of clerics have revealed their own level of bias, prejuduce, lack of depth and their own dysfunctionality. Just look at the expressed content of most comments and it is blatantly obvious that many are lacking integrity of learning and insight, relying solely on repeat perceptions, which invariably are negative stereotypes. A few commenters make valuable points but many, sadly, are abusers of this forum to write and promulgate hate narratives.

You presume wrong actually about whether professionals make these comments.
There is a lack of empirical research about the psychological characteristics of applicants for ministry – most of the research is into clergy burnout and into clergys attitude to psychology.
There are two problems with what you say about commenters here not quoting research.
The first is that if, say, somebody describes their own experience of clergy, while that is valid evidence of the lowest level of anecdotal, they will get ranted at.
The second problem with expecting empirical research to be done into clergy is that frankly it is never going to happen. The research that has been done tends to be denomination-specific if not sponsored by the denomination, and I honestly can’t see the church being very impressed with a psychologist wanting to research, say, personality disorder among the clergy.
Nor would the clergy be likely to consent or engage well.
In the absence of empirical research you can still note several things among the priests Pat reports and the comments: occasional outbursts of anger at the system, for various reasons; a fear of being hung out to dry as a result of an allegation; (they won’t like this one) an inability to take on feedback or views which aren’t in accordance with their own worldview; perceived lack of support, overwork, and so on.
The life experience described here and the likely emotions you would experience as a result are a recipe for disaster. Some priests may think celibacy makes this stress easier and others harder, but across the board it isn’t likely to help mature relationship and coping.
I know this is a difficult one, but priests are very burned out with the public perception that they are paedophiles. They have been dealing with the ongoing fallout for at least 20 years, but the fallout isn’t likely to end any time soon, and some of the responses priests make are not going to be helpful and will worsen public perception. But I’m not hearing them say they get any sort of support with this.
I’m sure this isn’t what you wanted though.
