Pat, this is surely known by Gardai and if they believe there is criminal behaviour occuring and doing nothing, then that’s reprehensible. Surely people who live close by must have concerns and they too should protest. Do we have a right to interfere if these are consenting adults? Just wondering. If it is known that any cleric is attending, that information must be given to the relevant Bishop. No bishop has the authority to prevent these gatherings, so it’s misleading to refer to the events happening in Bishop Nulty’s Diocese as if he didn’t care. I’m sure he does. His responsibility is to ensure that any priest from his or another Diocese is identified and asked to step aside. Were any priest or Bishop to preach publicly abiut these allegations, they’d be laughed at as dinosaurs. What should we do? It’s sad that this debasing of sexuality is happening. There are two strands here. Firstly, this appears to be a well-organised, responsible, consensual meeting of like-minded gay men who are coming together for a perfectly legal activity. The priests who attend are entitled to do so, I suppose, in the sense that they are not committing a crime or doing anything illegal, and in the sense that they are independent operators. All fine so far. But, these same Catholic priests, once they go back to their churches, parishes, monasteries and pulpits, present themselves as celibate. Not one of them would stand up and tell the truth to us about where they have been – at a gay orgy. So, there is an ingrained dishonesty, duplicity and attempt to live a lie and a double life, as well as to lie to and to try and fool everybody around them, including us. That is the problem. It is just not honest and open and transparent. It is all hidden in the dark shadows and great effort goes in to trying to live double and parallel lives. This is not good for the health and well being of the Church, us and the priests themselves. In fact the number of RCs who live the church’s sexual morals is vanishingly small. I can’t remember the last time I saw one of the old Catholic families with 14 children, a wife worn into the ground and permanently pregnant, suffering with incontinence, a husband also worn into the ground with trying to support this brood, and their relationship permanently fractured by their fear of having sex, a major way a couple build their relationship.

Pat, could I respectfully suggest that the secretary/ moderator of Scotland’s Daisy Chain cut and pastes the instructions for attendance at the orgy as printed above and forwards it to the participants of that select group.

It’s nothing illegal nor any criminality re that party. Cos all of them who had attended have given their consent to take part.

Similar events are held in a house just off the Antrim Road in Belfast, organised by a Catholic layman from Armagh who is named after a famous canonised Archbishop of Milan. People travel to the gatherings from all over Ireland.

I’ve only been to it once and I didn’t recognise or know anyone apart from the host. He told me that a former priest headmaster, who is now a PP, attends every two years or so and is paranoid about being seen or recognised.
