NEW HEAD OF JP 11 MARRIAGE INSTITUTE CALLS FOR REDEFINITION OF MARRIAGE.

September 24, 2021 by Peter COMPLICIT CLERGY.

“Weeks after taking up his post as new p resident of the former John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family, Monsignor Philippe Bordeyne made a remarkable statement in a revealing interview with La Croix International, the English-language daily edited by La Croix, unofficial daily of the French episcopate, saying, “We theologians cannot continue to assert certainties about the family when we see the transformations it is undergoing today.”

What are “certainties” about the family seen from the Catholic point of view? They are definitions, rules of life. They are reflections based on the natural realities and aims of marriage, and the natural laws that govern it. They are the result of the scrutiny of the revelation that tells of God’s plan for mankind, of the supernatural objective of procreation, which is to people God’s heaven with saints, and of the nature and value of sacramental marriage, which is a reflection of Jesus’ love for the Church.

When St. John Paul II founded the Pontifical Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family, it was clearly and profoundly attached to traditional Catholic doctrine on marriage, acknowledging the existence of absolute moral norms that are always binding and prohibit intrinsically evil acts. Such were the “certainties” mentioned above – and the fact that they were certainties did not make them uninteresting or rigid in the sense that they could not account for new realities of the day.

On the contrary, they were the principles, the supporting walls on which the Church could build in order to assess modernity and, if necessary, challenge it with the help of faith and reason – as it did, for instance, with gender ideology, which is a radical negation of the rules of God’s creation”

PAT SAYS

There are beliefs that we Catholic Christians are not able to change – The existence of God, the Trinity etc.

But there other things that are open to change and to a change of beliefs and teachings and practice.

The church showed littke interest in marriage until the 12 th century.

Same-sex partnerships were blessed in medieval times.

In time to come:

1. Celibacy will be optional.

2. Women will be ordained.

3. Same sex marriages will be blessed.

On the way there will be much division and schisms will happen.

The church will shrink.

Whats really the point in having a billion nominal members anyway?

And JP 11 will be on permanent rotation in his tomb.

WEE JOHNNIE GATES AND PALS REOPEN MAGHERAFELT PARISH. BINGO.

If that’s an attdmpted put down because you don’t like the idea of bringing something up to date and would prefer the absolutist views of yesterday, your resort to an ad hominem attack is pathetic.

You’ll never be accused of being relevant, Bella. But you are making a better effort with spelling and punctuation, although it did take you over an hour to proofread a couple of sentences.

When we have married priests we will need to accept divorced priests – because marriages fail and priests wives will file for divorces.
So married priests will also bring an acceptance of the true realities of divorces.

Like

THG 12:03,
It is sad that marriages fail but a reality as you point out. If the former priests can be granted a proper annulment – accept them back into clerical state. If they cannot be granted a proper annulment, they wouldn’t meet the threshold for a return to clerical state.

Like

Seamus you either don’t know what an annulment is or didn’t think your comment through. Do you realize what you need for an annulment?

Like

12:37,
You seem to be commenting on it being null from the beginning or something being gravely wrong at the time the vows were exchanged.
If someone is gravely wronged or abandoned, I’m of the opinion that the wrongful person is nulling the marriage.

A Marriage that is called Consummation would qualify for an Annulment.
The rest is up to the Tribunal Team who interviews everyone.
You sadly find that it is only one who is in the “Marriage” that wants annulled.
Tribunal t investigations are getting taking up more with naughty Clergy rather than marriage.

Let’s be honest and call annulments “Catholic divorce”, because that is what they are. Have you noticed how only the unhappily married seek an annulment? When they were still in love there was no talk of getting an annulment.

An Australian woman was abused by her husband decades ago. Because of her religious faith, she remained in the relationship. Noone should be trapped like that. Anyone suffering like that should be granted an annulment and freedom.

Karol Wojytla conducted an illicit and inappropriate affair with a married Polish professor of philosophy who co-edited his book The Acting Person.
He said that she was his vocation and their love letters were purchased for an undisclosed sum and are under lock and key indefinitely in the Polish National Library. He also wore a scapula denoting his undying love and affection.
Only problem was she was married and he was the leader of a world religion which upheld the sanctity of marriage.
Therefore the notion that an institution in his name on marriage seem risible and hypocritical.
Catholic theology on marriage is all theory and no practice and people manage perfectly well without their teaching and unrealistic weird ideal teaching.
Theologians dedicate their lives to answering questions no one is asking.

Two wonderful sentences in this blog (9:31) that ought to be read by anyone who is about to question the ethics of the Catholic Church: “Catholic theology (INSERT SUBJECT AREA OF INTEREST) is all theory and no practice” and “Theologians dedicate their lives to answering questions nobody is asking”.

SUBJECT AREA OF INTEREST: “COMMUNION”
i – time was if a pope wanted to say something he looked it up in his book and said it. He had a handful of secretaries.
ii – if bishops wanted to say something they looked it up in their book and said it.
iii – a lot of the time there was lot of things they didn’t say. They didn’t need quangoes full of string pullers.
iv – our family whether it be a single person or a crowd, is our family. We don’t need it “defining” by any “authority”. When we get out of our beds with our God given subsidiarity in the mornings, and breathe with our own lungs with our God given subsidiarity, we define our own selves and lives, just like the agnostics.
iv – we marry each other if we marry. No-one needs a “church marriage” and no-one needs a “church blessing”. People can and should bless each other. (A parson was a handy person in each locality who could keep a register and ensure witnesses were present.)
v – manoeuvring doesn’t in God’s eyes make up for the Asian hating of the last few years.
vi – this has finally annulled confecting of Smarties which was until then the avowed main reason for entrapment into ordination for ever after the Order of Gobbledygook.
vii – just when the spiritual basis for the Vatican City State Church has completely disappeared it claims ever more political hegemony.

I love St. Teresa of the roses, my nan had a picture of her in the spare room when I was a child. I used to gaze upon it and be filled with such an amazing, peaceful and loving presence that it really is difficult to even begin to describe — just pure love and stillness is the best I can.
I was given a beautiful statue by an old Irish nun, but it is currently in the possession of an unhealthy soul. I’ll leave it there.

He preyed on vulnerable young men, destroyed at least one vocation during his tenure in Maynooth. He sexually harassed young men while trying out for the Jesuits. He is then appointed PP? It would appear that Pat was the only one to hold Captain Underpants aka Paul Prior to account. I doubt he followed through on his threat to sue Pat? I imagine he would dread being questioned in the witness box by you and terrified to the witnesses that might come forward.

Like

The accusation that he sexually harassed young men (presumably other novices) when he was a novice himself trying out for the SJs, is a pretty serious accusation. Are you sure ? Is that the reason he left the SJ noviciate ? If there is some reality in this, then surely there is a big question to be asked about his suitability for and involvement in continuing ministry ? Has all of that been looked at by his diocese / bishop ?

4:08 PAUL PRIOR

Father Prior harrassed two young lay men in Gardiner Street Jesuit church while he was a Jesuit novice.

Furthermore another Jesuit novice reported for similiar harrassment in the Jesuit Novitate in Birmingham.

I was in direct contact with one of the young lay men from the Gardiner Street incident.

I wrote to the Jesuit provincial Fr Maloney who totally ignored me.

Diarmuid Martin was very concerned tgat this happened in onenof his parishes.

Father Prior should not, I repeat, should not be in ministry.

He has always had the strong protection of Sean Brady!

Yes this is so important and when people say this in a preening way they show it’s about triumphalism.
My fear about the predictions you make is that with the way the world is going there will be a shift to fundamentalism which will make the situation much worse and there will be ‘holy’ wars.
Even over the past few years there has been a shift in blogs towards sounding much more like fundament-alist blogs. All this last days, Fatima and so on nonsense.
Frankly I think humanity is so stupid we won’t last more than a few more decades.

Yes you’re right numbers mean nothing , but you’re wrong about triumphalism there is nothing to be triumphant about in the Church of today. What is needed is a return to true Catholicism and away from all these dreadful modernistic blogs who constantly try to undermine The Church. We do not have to worry as Our Blessed Lady promised us at Fatima In the end My Immaculate Heart shall Triumph!

Father Paul Prior was Director of formation in maynooth.
When in Maynooth, Father Prior was accused by a number of seminarians of quizzing them intensely and inappropriately about their sex lives – their sexual fantasies, their masturbation habits, their wet dreams etc, etc. This inappropriate questioning caused great distress among seminarians and was responsible for some leaving Maynooth. In spite of a number of complaints, the Maynooth authorities and the Irish bishops took no action and allowed Father Prior to continue as before.
Paul Prior left Maynooth in 2018 and was expected to return to his diocese of Kilmore in Cavan.
Instead he chose to join the Jesuits as a novice.
Two young Dublin lay men have lodged complaints against Paul Prior over his alleged contact with them in a Dublin Jesuit church – St Francis Xavier in Gardiner Street.
Both claim that Paul Prior questioned them in an inappropriate sexual manner.
One incident happened in the Confessional where the young man was told he would not get absolution if he did not answer the priest’s sexual questions.
The other young man claims his sexual interrogation in the church kitchenette.
The Jesuit provincial has met both young men and an investigation has begun.
Another Jesuit expressed the opinion that Father Prior was being protected “in order not to give Pat Buckley credibility”.
He is currently a pp in Cavan.

Why not some light on your suggestion that Pope John Paul’s Surname is misspelled or have you misspoke.
Grammatical pedantics is the refuge of the scoundrel – the veracity of JPII liaison with a married woman is a matter of public and historical record not hearsay or gossip but so veracious and incendiary the historical documents we’re purchased by the Polish nation and embedded in the archives very likely never to see the light of day.
Karol Wojtyla’s love affair (as far as we know platonic and unconsumed) was a betrayal of his vow of celibacy and her marriage vows (forsaking all others).
The truth will out but it can be painful to hear and denial, defensiveness and the grammar Nazi come out to play and are right out of the playbook and reveal as much as they conceal.

And your argument is daft. The reference to forsaking all others is not a statement, much less a declaration that we are not hoing to fall in love while married to another.
And there’s a hell of a difference between not consumed and not consummated (what you meant to say) when it comes to love.

Call me old fashioned but I’m not as liberal or as hedonistic as you or Karol Wojtyla – I’m pretty confident that Karols obsession with his lady friend and hers with him was not a love they wanted shouting from the roof tops!!
Neither did the Vatican or the Polish government (cash cow that his memory is).
It would not have seen the light of day though if the lady wasn’t short of a bob or two and she needed to negotiate a settlement to ensure her family’s inheritance.
You don’t mean my argument is daft – you just mean it’s hard to swallow (as the actress said to the bishop funnily enough)
Karols legacy was severely dented by this revelation – the full deets (urban grammar) not to revealed for several generations!!!

I think we have suffered the tragic loss of true friendship in modern society ie. Not just commonality but a desire for the good of the other. Such connections can be platonic but often have sexual overtures imposed on them. The beautiful reading for the feast of Sts Basil and Gregory on January 2nd speaks of their shared experience in terms of one soul animating two bodies. If anyone wrote that today there would be a frenzy on social media. No wonder for all our loud connectedness, loliness has never been more prevalent than in our own time.

Catholicism likes to neuter sexual love by going down the old canard of spiritual friendship.
Sexual frisson and tension is intrinsic to the alchemy of these friendships.
