THE IMMACULATE DECEPTION.

Christina Gallagher and her Achill Island house of prayer has always been very controversial.

It has now been shown to be a great fraud.

CHRISTINA GALLAGHER
THE BOOK

MICK POWER A FORMER DEVOTEE:

Mick Power got involved with the House of Prayer with his wife Paula in 1998, when their only child Tommy died of meningitis.

But the former member of the cult-like movement has spoken out for the first time, demanding that the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith investigate Ms Gallagher along with her spiritual director, Fr Gerard McGinnity, for heresy and unproven claims of miracles.

He described Ms Gallagher’s purported divine messages as “appalling” and “all about chastisements and the end of the world”.

“She was always talking about the anti-Christ and the wrath of the beast,” he said.

The final straw for the 39-year-old came in 2006, when Fr McGinnity read out a message in which Ms Gallagher was allegedly told by Jesus that if pilgrims did not provide money for a new House of Prayer in Texas, he would destroy the whole state.

“I was present when he said that and I said that is the end for me – how could anybody of any intelligence listen to that kind of rubbish?”

“It is true heresy. She has told them that the only thing that will save them during the great chastisement is a €250 picture available in the House of Prayer shop. That’s simony.”

Mr Power believes the Irish hierarchy needs to make a more concerted effort to examine the improper nature of Ms Gallagher’s visions and the funding mechanisms employed on behalf of House of Prayer.

PAT SAYS:

I have never believed in Christina Gallagher and her project.

She has now ammased millions and millions in terms of property and money.

ONE OF HER PROPERTIES
OTHER OF HER PROOERTIES

MY BIGGEST DILEMMA:

What I cant understand is the close involvement of the Armagh priest, Fr Gerard McGinnity with the whole thing.

As the dean of Maynooth at the time of the scandalous Monsignor Ledwith presidency, Fr McGinnity distinguished himself with his honesty and courage.

Fr McGinnity was treated disgracefully by Cardinal Tomas O’Fiaich, Eamon Casey and Cahal Daly.

I always viewed Gerard as a spiritual man.

How he has thrown in his lot with Christiana Gallagher is a complete mystery to me.

Was it his way of coping with his Maynooth crucifixion?

He retired early as an Armagh PP. He is still only 74.

Im glad that people have seen through Gallagher.

But she is laughing all the way to the bank and the estate agencies.

Is this a recent book? I thought the house of prayer was always known to be a fraud by anyone who wanted to know.
As with everything else in life what’s really happening is shown by where the money goes and who benefits.

I hope peopke stop supporting Christina Gallagher. She may have done some spiritual good initially, but she has abused her role as a “seer”. I never trusted her as the years went by and I find it strqange that Fr. McGinnity has any association with this cult. When people become the centre of a new spiritual enterprise, they end up abusing very vulnerable people. And the money aspect of her work appalls me. She can be linked in with the megarich tele-evangelists In the USA..They are mostly money vultures.

And this is the true face of religion, …….ooooops, sorry, true FARCE of religion!
In times of stress, pressure, trials and tribulations, our instinctual human search for reassurance and meaning to life, clings to any glimmer of hope.
And some of these unscrupulous charlatans propogating religious myths of empty false reassurance jump on Achill Island like gravy trains. Check out such “ministeries” in USA.
But there’s also a great cohort of deluded propagators of religion who actually believe they’re doing “God’s work”. Well intentioned they may be, convincing themselves that their pastoral ministrations are of Heaven sent spiritual significance. But a great many of them lead “double lives” knowing they’re promoting shite. But hey ho, it’s a good living with all those side benefits. What’s not to like?😏
And the celibacy thingy? Well that’s a thing of the past in these more enlightened times. The RCC clerical lot just put up with the farce (oooops: that word again!!!!). The Vatican will eventually catch up.
Religion and God given eternal bliss in the afterlife?
An anology:
The restaurant’s first of three course menu is shite. But you’re being told by the Roman collared waiter that it gets better, just have faith and believe me, for the Master Chef has a plan.
The second course is worse,…but he reassures you the third course will be wonderful,…if you just believe and have faith in the power of the Master Chef.
So you wait patiently, hopefully, for the finale. Or do you?
Ah go on, go on, go on.
👹🤡🥱

Cheery, Dearie Charlene, what at 1.23am gave you the inspiration to pour out this CACA – poisonous in its essence. Do you live in a gutter bucket of s****e? If we choose to follow Christ alone and simply live by his gospel and in God’s expectations of us (if you’re a believer of course!!), then that is sufficient. For me as a Catholic, the sacraments are my connection points with the Divine, particularly the Eucharist. As you grow in prayer and deep, reflective spirituality and meditation, you learn to distil the essence of what is really important spiritually. I agree with you in one thing: many individuals have developed churches with a Church and defined their version of Christianity but sadly, as you read into their life stories, they are mega rich charlatans and do not imitate the humility of the Nazarene in sandals and sackcloth.. I often reflect on people in all religious groupings – breakaway sects particularly – and political ideologues – even in our own country – and how disconnected they become from the people they supposedly serve, how out of touch they are with the pain, struggles and real poverty of people’s lives. As is said – power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely!! So true in religions and politics when accountability is almost non existent until scandals surface. I’d rather give my m9ney to Br. Kevin or St. v. de Paul.

@12:24Anon: This ‘pain, struggles and real poverty of people’s lives’ you speak of: is this just the first course of your benevolent God’s menu?

12:24,
Agreed. If we choose to follow Christ alone and simply live by his gospel and in God’s expectations of us, for those of us who are believers of course, then that is sufficient.
The sacraments are connection points. The Lenten and Advent seasons also provide connection points, if truly embraced. The Divine Mercy Novena and May Devotions, if fully embraced, also provide more connection points.
As people grow in prayer and deep, reflective spirituality and meditation, people can learn to distil the essence of what is really important spiritually.

For months, my wife used to drive from Armagh to Achill every Saturday and made untold donations to the House of Prayer ie to Christina Gallagher’s personal bank account. She’d come home full of clap-trap about chastisements and the end of the world.
Archbishop Neary should have told people not to come to his diocese for this nonsence, and he should have requested Armagh to oblige Fr McGinnity to attend to his duties as the then PP of Forkhill, instead of running about after Christina Gallagher.
It’s as bad or not worse than Megaforgery, which Francis should put under interdict. My wife went to that fraud too.

How anyone was gullible enough to fall for the fraud started by Christina Gallagher is amazing, equally the involvement of Fr.McGinnity is very strange. It has to be investigated by the CDF and the Guards. They have to be prosecuted and the money returned to the people who were conned. How it has been allowed to go on for so long is unbelievable, it s on a par with the other great fraud which is Medugorje.

Those who follow this woman and such nonsense have only themselves to blame for their gullibility, although I do accept that some will be very vulnerable and will have been taken advantage of. Notwithstanding that, it is the simple mindedness of so many that allows bishops, priests and so called spiritual people to get away with touting their nonsense. If it sounds incredible, and is promising all sorts of unusual things, then it is incredible and should be avoided. Just use some common sense, please.

Even brilliant, highly-educated people get snagged into false apparitions. The devil is cunning. I myself, desperate at the time, got lured into another place. I didn’t know much about apparitions and how they worked–or DIDN’T work. I spent nearly 17 years at that place, and the last few years was too scared of Hell to leave. Yes we were threatened with Hell if we two (out if 3) regular adherents ever left without permission. I was a fairly new and poorly catechized Catholic when I read about that place. And as I said, desperate to save my marriage. So never assume that you know what types of people get sucked into these places. I have an Associate’s Degree, so I am not stupid. Ignorant YES. She claims the houses are in a charitable trust. It’s about time the government banned tax relief for these sorts of endeavours. I like how Jesus is so specific in telling her that those houses displaying the picture of his mum with the roses will be saved from destruction. What a total and utter load of BS. The picture is macabre and has blood coming out of Mary’s eyes. Only available for sale from her dodgy organisation. The PP whilst well intentioned needs his faculties restricted and commanded to end his association with her.

The Church authorities at the time probably said the same about Johann Tetzel when he was selling indulgences, which is basically what the House of Prayer is doing. It says that if you shell out for a grotesquely ugly, overpriced picture, you will be saved from the imminent chastisement.

Trust is paramount. We have seen how trust in policing in London, and perhaps elsewhere, has been severely undermined by the crime of one serving officer. It takes a great deal of time and patience in order for trust to be restored. I’m not sure it has yet fully dawned on bishops and clergy that they are no longer trusted. Everything they do and they say is put through the prism of enquiry and deliberating by those of us who were so used to giving them implicitly our trust. If they have not yet realised this, and I don’t think they have, then they are never going to be able to start on the road to recovering our trust. Without trust, the Church is finished. People will put their trust and confidence in other things. I shall not go through the litany of things which have destroyed our trust in the Church and its clerical operatives. Sufficient to say that these things have come from the clergy themselves. They only have themselves to blame. Also, I think I have long learned not to trust the idiocies of people like Gallagher. I would not trust her.

Someone that I knew went to medugjore back in late eighties I think or whatever. She shared a twin room with her. She said that CG was normal woman as both were from Co Mayo. She was astonished how much had she changed after that trip to medj.
She turned into a different woman and was going out with a different man. Her ex husband was in the army I think.
The problem with medj that it may have spawned a couple of false visionaries in the world.. I don’t know if that’s the truth or not.
Ex friend who was there in house of prayer as he brought me there. It was empty with maybe 4 or 5 people… with tabernacle removed. Think it was 10 years ago. It was sad re exploitation of old or people in need.
It would be interesting to see if CG contributed to tuam diocese or not. It was in the case of Susan Boyle re her contribution to knock renovations.

Neary left way far too long re CG as no decision was taken until it was far too late. Cos some people were damaged and others lost their money (a lot of money so I heard).
Neary’s competence was hugely questioned after that CG saga that went on for so long until Sunday world published it.
As a consequence of this, rcc reputation in tuam diocese was badly damaged in some way or shape or form cos people began to see them in a different light.
Final question was CG paying tuam diocese🤔🤔🤔.

The phrase ‘You can’t run the church on Hail Mary’s was coined by that irrepressible force for honesty, decency and financial probity, Bishop Paul Marcinkus.
Ordained a Elsie no less!!
He of wanted for pocketing 4 million dollars into his own personal bank account and to be fair compared to the 1.3 billion Banco Ambrosial scandal he was caught up in, 4 million seems paltry.
You can run a church on Hail Marys but you can’t run a corrupt global business corporation – which is, of course, what Marcinkus meant.
Gallagher was doing what RCC been doing for centuries – exploiting the fears and insecurities of the vulnerabie and naive – it’s a tried and tested business model and works for Lourdes, Medegorgje, Fatima and Knock.

Quote from barking Vigano:

‘Behind this purging operation, like everything that distinguishes the work of the Bergoglian church, there is a hatred and an iconoclastic fury towards the Communities of Contemplative Life, and in a particular way against those tied to Tradition and the Ancient Rite. This hatred has become commonplace with the infamous Instruction Cor Orans and its cruel and merciless application. What also stands out is an insane interest in the finances and donations that these communities receive, which the Vatican tries to grab for itself using any pretext it can.’
