Over 3000 priests were incvolved in the abuse if the 216,000 children.
This figure covers from 1950 until now.
The number of children abused could rise to 330,000.
The majority of the abused were boys between the ages of 10 and 13.
While the commission found evidence of as many as 3,200 abusers – out of a total of 115,000 priests and other clerics – it said this was probably an underestimation.
In 1996 there were 27,000 priests in France.
In 2006 there were 20,000 – a drop of 7,000.
What is the figure now after another 15 years?
PAY SAYS:
These abuse figures from “the oldest daughter of the Church” are alarming and horrific.
It means that upwards of 3200 French priests abused children in a period of 71 years.
This is not sinply a problem.
Its a MASSIVE and WORLD SHATTERING problem.
Its a good enough reason for the Republic of France to seize all the possessions of the RCC in France and to ban the RCC in that country.
Its a good enough reason to imprison any bishop or priest in France who abused a child or covered the abuse up.
France is already anti-clerical.
It will be much more so from now on.
