POPE ACCUSED OF PLAYING GOD OVER VATICAN TRIAL.

October 6, 2021 by Peter Complicit Clergy

A rare trial that puts a cardinal, his “lady,” and several con men in the dock inside the hallowed halls of the Holy See will start in earnest on Tuesday amid concerns that Pope Francis has made sure all 10 defendants will be convicted.

Becciu

It should be noted that the Vatican does not pretend to be a democracy. The pope is for all intents and purposes an authoritarian leader who can hire and fire anyone in his government at will.

That he also makes the laws without committee, changes rules without consensus, and delivers decrees with impunity usually works without major issues. But the defense teams in this high profile case argue that they are now caught in the gray area between who the pope likes and who he doesn’t.

The trial involves a €350 million property purchase in London with funds meant for the poor said to be swindled from the papal charity fund by trusted bankers. According to a 487-page indictment handed down in June, charity money meant to free a captive nun in Colombia also allegedly went instead to kit out a female consultant with designer bags and fancy shoes.

The only woman on trial, Cecilia Marogna, was a “security consultant” rumored to be a close acquaintance of Cardinal Angelo Becciu, a 73-year-old papal nemesis Pope Francis fired last September.

MAROGNA

“It’s all surreal. Up until yesterday… I felt I was a friend of the Pope, the faithful executor of the Pope,” Becciu, who is the highest-ranking prelate to ever face such charges, said in an interview after he was canned. “Then the Pope told me that he no longer had faith in me because he got a report from magistrates that I committed an act of misappropriation.”

All 10 defendants face charges ranging from embezzlement and money laundering to abuse of power and extortion.

In addition, more than 40 companies are also named as potentially complicit, especially on the charges of money laundering.

Becciu is charged for his role in the disastrous London deal, which cost the Vatican losses of more than $415 million, in addition to allegedly funneling funds to his brother’s charity and Morgona’s company in Slovenia to the tune of more than $1,000,000. They all deny culpability and have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

But defense lawyers have argued—in a slew of motions hastily filed last week—that the fact that the Holy See is not a signatory to any international convention that guarantees fair trials means there is no way any of those facing charges will get one.

Among the motions filed are claims of procedural violations, among them that the prosecution failed to hand over discovery documents including evidence from a turncoat who was a former associate of the defendants.

Flabio Viglione, attorney for the cardinal, told reporters that these violations are “harmful” to the defendants’ rights and could adversely impact their right to a fair trial.

PAT SAYS:

The pope may not be God but he is reputed to be God’s representative on earth. No?

Does it not say in canon law that no one can challenge the pope?

He is a formidable enemy – especially in the RC world. You pribably couldn’t have a bigger enemy in the that arena.

The Vatican is full of gangsters from top to bottom.

Beccui seems like a well-oiled gangster to me.

God knows what his relationship with Marogna involves?

If he is straight that’s unusual.

I’m glad Francis is rattling the gangsters gates.

Im glad he is rattling the gates of the right-wingers.

But what of Francis’ past and the the strokes he pulls?

Maybe it takes one to know one?

It’s absolutely bizarre. I am not aware of Vatican city having extradition treaties with anywhere else so the subjects of this show trial just need to stay well away from the tinpot banana monarchy. I’m sure Becciu has more than enough lucre put away to live on for the rest of his life.

There will be a Consistory be appoint new Cardinals so Pope Francis legacy lives on and the Church stays on this route of transformation.
The LMB will be praying for cardinal Burke or Sarah but they have no chance stay in the True fold or with your self made organisations.

Oh! he’s doing a magnificent job alright of destroying any vestiges of Catholicism left. His legacy will not be forgotten, as the most divisive pope ever. He’ll get his reward alright but it wont be heavenly, it will be sitting in the hub of hell next to his great pal Luther and all the false amazon gods he’s so keen on. The Polyester Brigade can enjoy what they call a transformation just now, it will not last. Thankfully God will not be mocked and the Church will be restored to become the True Fold which it certainly is not at the moment.😌

Pope Francis is a Peronist – a Machiavellian character, less black and white, more black is white and white is black.
He handed over two fellow Jesuits to the right wing military Junta who tortured and imprisoned them.
He was exiled by his brother Jesuit’s because of his authoritarian rule as Provincial.
He is a cover up merchant, not so much blood on his hand as victims lives spilt on the floor of ecclesiastical cover up and obsfucation.
He protects abusers and miscreants on the run from the police hiding them in the Vatican.
He and Ratzinger couldn’t set foot in their own countries for fear of arrest.
He is poacher and gamekeeper all wrapped up in pontifical dark arts.
He is a wolf among wolves and deadly queens.
I suspect he is a formidable enemy and has formidable enemies.
Their are videos on YT of him completely losing it – angry and pissed off and revengeful – oh and violent, he can and will lash out. He is a Latino to his very core.
A £350 million property fraud is small fry. The Banco Ambrosia scandal was 1.3 billion and it was never recovered.
The trial will collapse and be an embarrassing fiasco – the Vatican couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery let alone a fair trial.
Of course the Cardinal on trial is a crook but it’s proving it that’s tricky.
Did Elsie or Westminster Financial Officers know about this massive fraud right under their noses?
Elsie knows when a Canon farts in his diocese he definitely knows all about this!!

11:34,
Contributions are at a parochial level. As someone on here says; the moaners never give and the givers never moan.
It’s understandable that some want to cut off the resources of the Church community. When the church hosts a charity concert, people donate generously. When the congregation gathers for weekly worship, people donate generously.
Scandals have affected the Church’s coffers. Current day generosity is influenced by expectations that lessons have been learned and that safeguarding is in place. People can see the safeguarding measures with their own eyes at a parochial level.
A scandalous padre brings unwanted shame on a parish. Through know fault of parishioners, a dark cloud is cast over the parish. The bishop will seek to remedy the situation for the distraught parishioners. The next appointment is of utmost importance to bring healing.
Any safeguarding concerns must be brought to Gardaí.

No response from Seamus to my question @ 4:52pm & 7:36pm.
Surprise, surprise, surprise. Seamus, the priest, who runs with the hare and hunts with the
hounds, while simultaneously quoting scripture, promoting peace, love, wiping dust and safeguarding. I have very serious concerns,Seamus.I won’t be bringing my concerns to a catholic safeguarding agency funded by the church; an institution which continues to cover up abuse cases.I made a discovery earlier this evening which is truly shocking.
The problem with the institutional church is credibility. It is non existent at this stage, Seamus,on so many levels, including diocesan, parochial and safeguarding levels.

Safeguarding practices are safe in my own humble experience. If anyone distrusts the Church’s safeguarding, that’s perfectly fine and understandable. Tusla is the independent body. People can go straight to the Gardaí.
The Church and all community groups have safeguarding practices. There is independent oversight.
10:25, 11:25, if there is a weakness in safeguarding, highlight the weakness. You don’t have to go into detail but list the area of concern. What is happening that should not be happening?

“There is independent oversight.”
What do you mean in the context of Rcc safeguarding?
Tusla and the Gardaí are statutory bodies.
A church safeguarding agency must be totally independent of Rcc involvement with Rcc employees.

Like

1:29, the Child and Family Agency became an independent legal entity in 2014?
The Church and community groups provide safeguarding as required. If you’ve a strong desire for more independent oversight, which is perfectly reasonable to seek, contact Roderic O’Gorman (Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth) and your locally elected representatives.

Tusla is a Statutory agency established in 2014 as an independent legal entity. It is an amalgamation of HSE Children and Family Services, the Family Support Agency and the National Educational Welfare Board as well as incorporating some psychological services including a range of services responding to domestic, sexual and gender-based violence.
It has nothing to do with the RCC no more than the C of I or The Moonies ! Yesterday a contributor, FSF at 12:57pm, posting in relation to 216,000 children abused by French Catholic Priests, put his/her finger on a considerable difficulty; ” as individual state courts are all in on the cover-up together with the prosecutorial systems in every country in the World “…I would also strongly suggest State agencies can also be included in assisting covering up for the Ecclesiastical establishment. Contacting local or National politicians is a total waste of time, effort and energy, as is contacting Vatican officials/authorities. In due course a National Safeguarding Agency will be established as an independent legal entity with no RCC involvement or any other vested interest group involvement, for the sake of all citizens of the Irish State, not just those wearing religious garb.

Like

@ 7:14 pm
Take a guess!
The destruction of lives through abuse coupled with wilful cover up by any community group, particularly by or on behalf of the Ecclesiastical establishment is an abomination before Almighty God. You may number crunch on percentages of clerics who did or did not abuse. The difficulty for the Ecclesiastical Church lies in the fact every Ordinary in Rcc worldwide was instructed by Rome under crimen sollicitationis. Dioceses were to use the instruction for their own guidance and keep it in their archives for confidential documents. This document remained in effect until May 2001. Potentially, every Ordinary in every diocese in this State covered up abuse in the interests of the Institutional Church. While the main mission of the Vatican purports to help bring the message of the Gospel to the ends of the earth, they appear to dedicate far more time and resources to presenting a false façade of moral integrity to the world. The same can be said for the Irish branch of the Rcc.
In due course this façade will completely slip resulting in Irish citizens demanding an Independent National Safeguarding Agency. This false façade is currently slipping.

Like

8:43, the UK had an Independent Safeguarding Agency. The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) merged with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) to form the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Is that the template you are looking to replicate in Ireland? What are the UK benefitting from DBS that Ireland is missing out on by only having Tusla?

Like

To be determined. I’m not going to be prescriptive on templates appropriate to Ireland.
I suggest studying the Maurice McCabe case and the role of the child and family agency, Tusla.

11.09 I’ve concluded the Holy RCC decided liturgies in whatever languages are of no importance, early on in the 1950s, therefore the frequent tinkering with the even more important liturgy that replaced the previous even more important liturgy is a distraction technique from the political influence drive. Since yesterday I am heartbroken that the forever priests don’t really conjure Jesus to magic the bread into smarties, after all. The outcome of any trial in the Vatican is a foregone conclusion:
‘VATICAN CITY (AP) — A Vatican tribunal absolved a former altar boy of charges that he molested a younger boy in the Vatican’s youth seminary, ruling Wednesday in the first clergy sexual abuse trial to be heard by the pope’s criminal court.
The three-judge panel acquitted Rev. Gabriele Martinelli of some charges and ruled others couldn’t be punished. The former rector of the seminary, the Rev. Enrico Radice, was similarly absolved.
The case concerned the closed world of the St. Pius X youth seminary, a palazzo inside the Vatican walls just across the street from where Pope Francis lives. The seminary serves as a residence for boys aged 12 to 18, who serve as altar boys at papal Masses in St. Peter’s Basilica.’

One doesn’t need to be a historian to appreciate the sensitivities on all sides but I believe the prayer service was genuinely well intended until Michileen became odly and angrily irate.
