Yesterday’s blog went somewhat ballistic over my meeting with Robert Nugent.

For me such a meeting is commonplace and ordinary.
Over the last decades I have had thousands of such meetings.
I met Ian Paisley on a umber of occasions and went to a service in his Larne church.
I attended one of Archbishop Levferve’s Masses in 1984 and met him afterwards in the sacristy.
I visited a very Protestant school in a Loyalist area of Belfast and had to go in and out in an armoured police vehicle to get past the protesters.

I’ve been in a Loyalist pub on Belfast’s Shankhill Road.

During my first months in Larne I visited over 20 Protestant churches on Sunday evenings.
I’ve had a meeting with a group of retired “B Specials” from the bad RUC days.
I’ve has meetings with Republican and Loyalist paramilitaries.
I have visited murderers, rapists, arsonists, paedophiles etc in several prisons.
I’ve ministered to women prostitutes in Dublin and Belfast.
I’ve been to transvestite club meetings for discussions.
I’ve accompanied transexual people to pre op hospital appointments.
CAN I ASK A FEW QUESTIONS
If John 11 met with his assain why can’t Robert and I meet?

If Martin McGuinness met the Queen why can’t I meet Robert Nugent?

Can anyone out there give me a rational, logical and understandable reason why two Irish men who both are attempting to follow Jesus Christ cannot have a simple meeting over a cup of tea to discuss matters they both care about – without causing such a blog furore?
