HOMOSEXUAL PARTNERSHIP IS ABOUT MUCH MORE THAN SEX !

“Homosexuals are the second most disgusting species on the planet”.

I often get comments like this coming into the blog and invariably don’t publish them.

Why is it that when people talk a out “straight” couples they talk about love, children, mortgages, schools – as well as sex.

But when they talk about homosexual couples they concentrate on the physical sexual behaviour such couples get up to?

Gay couples nowadays also have love and mortgages – and now can also have children either through adoption or surrogacy.

All happy and fulfilled couples, whether hetero or homo, experience sex as one aspect of theirives.

Other aspects, such as partnership, love, affection and friendship take up much more time.

Some gay men and women are sexually promiscuous. But so are some straight men and women.

Some gay couples engage in anal sex. But so do many straight couples.

Some gay couples gave no sex life after a while. Some straight couples experience the same.

Some gay couple live their lives as brothers and brothers or sisters and sisters. So do some straight couples

In fact I would say more hetero couples opt for twin beds or separate bedrooms than gay couples do.

The point I’m trying to make is that we should not concentrate on sex when it comes to gay couples. There are many more aspects to theirives than sex.

And many gay couples have faith and pray together.

And I should know. I have been in such a partnership for 14 years.

So, let’s look at all couples in the broader context of the totality of their relationship.

Not to do so is simply indulging in ignorance and prejudice.

ST PATRICK’S COLLEGE, THURLES.

CORONERS REPORTA PUBLIC DOCUMENT

PAT SAYS,

The recent concentration on Silverstream does NOT mean that our investigation into the bullhorn and death of Michael Deegan is being forgotten.

Far from it.

Michael Deegan was bullied to the poi t he voted take no more and chose the most tragic way of ending his pain.

Those responsible for his bullying and death are still alive must be named and held accountable.

The clergy who were aware of his horrific plight and did nothing are as guilty as the bullies.

The Church that has hidden or destroyed the records stands accused!

Michael Deegan’s blood in on many hands.

His cry for truth and justice is still heard on the breezes of Tipperary and Offaly.

That’s your own opinion Pat. I know from experience that gays (I am one but rare to my own view) are motivated by sex with lots of different men and ‘fresh’ meat. I love my boyfriend who is 12 years older than me but I know I have a short shelf life as he has parochial taste when it comes to his sexual desires.

I thought the same when reading those rather mediocre witness statements; they don’t even ask if there was anything suspicious, anything troubling him, etc.
It’s very, very frightening that that could even happen.
However, saying that: look at what happened in Liverpool only recently.
Things have not changed that much at all since 1994. Sadly.

The coroner’s report is fairly open to criticism but he’s still managed, out of respect for the deceased, not to have a conversation about gay marriage at the same time or allow a bunch of clowns to scribble comments about light switches over the report. Jesus.

The Coroner said in that era there were different standards to today. The fact remains had lessons been learned after the first suicide attempt, then Micheal’s death could have been avoided. The Church has to acknowledge the bullying and the failure to act.

I have been subjected to horrible bullying, so I know the impact it has on individuals and the family unit. And when those doing the bullying are supposed to “know better” — like priests and other professionals — it’s even more the soul destroying x

An inquest has limited functions. It is limited by law 1: Who died, hence the evidence of identification. 2: When did they die, hence the evidence of last to see the person alive and evidence of discovery. 3 how did they die, hence the pathology report. That’s it in a nutshell. Often difficult in cases of suicide as it is never asked what caused this person to do that, because an inquest is not about placing blame.

If it could be established that Michael was “bullied” it would be a case for the Gardai.

Pat, we should stop classifying people by sexuality, people are a lot more than that. This blog does not need to be obsessed and controlled by sex. It’s time to acknowledge this blog is plagued with a with demonic style lewd sexually immature remarks, the vast majority of which are of a homosexual nature.
Perhaps out of some kind of misplaced loyalty, you are probably allowing these very sad and obviously unhappy pitiful people somewhere to express themselves in they only way they seem to know how, but there are plenty of other blogs for that.
It takes away credibility from your good work exposing abuses in the Church. A lot of people have been subject to sexual abuse in the Church and many of their abusers also indulged in these types of lewd sexual remarks as a grooming tactic, so please moderate them, and let’s concentrate on the sorting out the Church problems you highlight.

Those comments are, without exception, posted by clerics and other cathbots messing up this blog with troll comments. The most bizarre thing about this is that Pat knows full well the church has tried everything else to get this blog shut down and will resort to literally anything, but continues to allow them to destroy his work and put sensible commenters off. Do you read comments like that on LGBTQ forums? No. QED.

I would respectfully suggest that they be discouraged in the long term interests of keeping this blog valid & effective.

I don’t believe every troll post on here is from Priests, far from it. If I were I Priest I would not touch this blog with a bargepole given the relentless stream of trolling comments of a malign nature. What Priest wants to pollute their eyes, head and spirituality with that. The Trolls post their sexual comments here because they know they will get published. What Bishop or Priest, independent or not and supposed to be a spiritual father would allow and encourage such damaging posts to the credibility of their blog? I don’t get it. Pat Buckley is an intelligent man, he could easily force a rise in the quality level of the posts on this blog if he wanted to. Then we might actually learn something worthwhile. I’m out. Also, now that Robert Nugent is tasked by Pat to investigate Silverstream, does Pat agree with the horrendous sexual imagery used against Dom Kirby, knowing that Robert vehemently opposes such horribleness, unkindness and merciless behaviour, and rightly so? I imagine Robert made his views known to Pat. Any priest with self respect and integrity would not post the infantile, immature and offensive vulgarity we get frequently. Yes, the odd priest might post something inappropriate but the vast, vast majority would not. The filthy comments today are crass and insulting to the memory of M. Keegan and others who have been abused. Pat: please stop printing the trollopy comments.

The Statement of Malachy Murphy should have elicited more questions. Surely if a student offered his books, you’d query why he would not be needing them any more. The least one might expect from someone training for a life in ministry. That surely was a red flag. Not much of a shepherd in the making or was he also cowed in that bullying environment. Very sad for Michael Deegan & his family. Rest in Peace.

@12.12am Armagh moved Malachy Murphy from Thurles very quickly after this to Maynooth I am led to believe. Michael Deegan suddenly offering to give away his books late at night should surely have set alarm bells ringing to Mr Murphy. Was he ever ordained I wonder?

Like

9:45am I’m sure they did move Malachy Murphy very quickly. That’s the widespread modus operandi. I also understand that Michael Deegan had attempted to take his own life on a previous occasion which makes it even more questionable why the alarm was not immediately raised when he spoke of giving away his books. These Inquest documents create more questions than they answer & lack any shred of credibility. The Case should be reopened even to make sure it was really suicide.

Of note today in the. news (I accept not on theme for today’s blog, but newsworthy) is the awarding of £1.4 million to a man who was abused by the Christian Brothers in Scotland. Wow ! Imagine if that were replicated across the churches in the UK and Ireland for those who have been abused by clergy, religious, church run institutions, neglect, abuse and coverup ! The Church in those countries would be bankrupt. Perhaps no bad thing. It would bring to Church back to humility and simplicity. Whether this man will actually be able to collect the £1.4. million from the Christian Brothers, I am not sure, but I expect the CBs will have done everything they can to minimise their exposure, as they did to try and frustrate this case. The lawyers will surely also take a large chunk for their time and effort. However, it is a signal that is being sent out by the courts, especially in Scotland, that justice for the abused also means some kind of restitution, and money is currently where the restitution lies. I think we have learnt that the formulaic apologies, the offer of small meat in counselling or a few thousand pounds here and there is not enough to bring sufficient restitution, justice and the beginnings of closure in these cases. For too long, dioceses and bishops have tried to get in there and sweet talk victims in to agreements to accept minimal payouts and agreements not to take things further, usually packaging it as wanting to prevent the victim any further upset, but in reality knowing all along that they are serving their own interests in preventing these things costing them a lot more. Well, perhaps those days are over. I would encourage victims to take things further in law if they possibly can. Only in that way will the Church fully realise the harm they have done, and be encouraged to take this matter seriously and ensure it never happens again. Anything less leaves them thinking that it’s not such a big deal, and that they can put it behind them and move on. Only for it to come back and reappear years later.

Throughout the campus there are the same restrictions on blocked sites, as set by the MU Computer Centre (and not by Fr Mullaney). As the different parts of the campus are so intertwined and shared, eg Pugin Hall, there is no technical means by which to have restrictions in parts of one building and not in another.

I wish people could just calm down about sexuality. Yes, it is a fact of life, and an energy, but it is something that all of us have in whatever guise. So, just get on with it, and stop worrying about it, and especially stop obsessing about other people’s sexuality and what they are up to and what relationships they may have. The only time it needs to be considered is if it leads a person in to illegality, or is contrary to other aspects of their life that they hold up to us in public – like celibacy. If a celibate is sexually active either way, then that simply needs to be pointed out, the person corrected, and if he doesn’t do something about it to change and be faithful to what he is professing, then he needs to move on. Just like any other aspect of life which stands in contradiction to what the person professes to be, including in the world of work. Outside of that, how people run their lives, with whom they are in relationship what sort of sexual activity they engage in, when, how and with whom, is of supreme indifference and should just be left to the private sphere of life. Whatever the lifestyle and choice of people is with regard to their sexuality, lifestyle, relationships etc, should be celebrated quietly and respected.

Not to subtract anything of the seriousness of your comment; it has been ever thus…. the doctrine of original sin which Paul VI asked a Pontifical Academy to reinvent for the times ( that was the 1960s), it never happened. The hysteria of particular instance takes from the ever present malevolence of human action at any hour around the planet. Ukraine in these hours…. not a mention in European media of the starving millions who n Afghanistan… no mention of the dying in unvaccinated countries ( why ?) yet Trudeau in Canada is reversing civil fights big time with 1988 draconian legislation. Djokovic is on BBC 1 tonight… I heard him on BBC Radio 4 earlier today. An interesting man…. complex…. but very sure of the ground he stands on despite his errant supporters, his supporters of integrity and the encircling mob( including Australian let’s say… “ institutions “). One of the oldest rights in the world, derived from Magna Carta is the right to be left alone if you are doing both wrong. The tenor of the Blog is not the place to unpack that …. but you are right about choices impacting society. Trouble is the life without reflection is always in a rush to judge the choices of others… even in the privacy of a private room( e.g the listening devices in hotel rooms in Soviet Russia… if you were celebrating a Mass…. It was soon interrupted). I use that example before others judge here I am referring to sexuality or any of its tangents. The Fear of Freedom by Eric Fromm is the best I’ve ever read on what you are alluding to…. May all men, women and children be safe…. That is good to pray… but it is to be remembered Climate Change is dealing with what is messing up the planet ( at a Biblical dictate enshrined in Christian doctrines), to say nothing of the personal safety of each of us ( in danger from another or an Institution) written of through the centuries in all cultures but never yet achieved. Nothing new under the sun as another biblical contributor puts it. The RCC and this Blog have exactly the same dynamic. The night is nearly here… and the light will be back tomorrow… ‘‘twas ever thus. ( Is you don’t get my style or do not “ assent “ to my ramblings….. please this time…. Leave me alone. A seminarian’s absence from morning prayer or Mass would be noted by the dean, if present, who would likely follow up on it.
If the dean was not present, students would assume the student was sick, slept in or had been excused that day. Absence at lunchtime would be treated along the same lines.
Depending on the size of the student body and with staggered lunchimes an absence probably wouldn’t be noted until the evening, especially if it was a Saturday.
I am surprised that none of his classmates called to his room to see if he was ok. Perhaps they did, but there’s no record of that in these flimsy statements.

7.04: This querying about Michael D is an unwanted intrusion into his family’s pain and hurt. Disgusting.

The blog is conducting its own inquest, but to what end is unclear. Thurles seminary is closed, those involved will either stick by what they said back then, or will offer the defence that it was a long time ago and memories of the actions of the college and diocese are faded. Some of the other protagonists may be dead. No police or prosecutors would reopen this case. An inquest reached its verdict.

I can well understand the criticism of a seminary that this trajic event occurred, the criticism being that the seminary was to a greater or lesser extent a cause, or that the seminary authorities and students should have noticed distress and anxiety and offered support and counselling, or remedied the causes of distress that were within their control.

But nobody, and I mean nobody, from the college or diocese, is going to come forward, especially not to this blog, which they will say is using this trajic event to again attack the Church, even at the cost of hurting the family.

Well Ultan, if no one else comes forward then on Judgement Day at least Pat Buckley and Robert Nugent can say this particular injustice was publicly aired by them and buried by others. It’s not really true to say nothing will come from it because I had all but forgotten this incident from more than 25 years ago until I saw it on this blog.

What makes you so certain nobody from the college or diocese is going to come forward?
By the way, some of us querying this matter includes members of the Church.

@8:32 Ultan, Thurles Seminary is Mary Immaculate College nowadays. Hopefully that means at least there might be less difficulty investigating matters like the poor suicide, whereas there might have been if it was, say, a Nobertine house, whose records would’ve been dumped in a box and sent off to Belgium or the dump after shredding. That might be too hopeful, but it would mean a measure of justice for Michael J. Deegan can be got somehow.

7:04 yes, Priest, everything is an intrusion in your book when you want the death of an innocent young man swept under carpet or septic tank. 🤮🤮.

9.28: Think you are confused about who you are responding to. Family sensitivities matter in all tragedies. Do not ever think it’s rught to use another person’s abuse for agendas. It’s another abuse. Family feelings are paramount, you fool. Have you had a tragedy to deal with, ever? I have. You most certainly wouldn’t want vultures at your door looking for a story or asking others for information. FAMILY SENSITIVITIES MATTER.

This back and forth between Pat and Robert is nauseating. One trying to outdo the other. Robert, does Dom Kirby know you are seeking information about him?

I asked the great mystic Dom Mark Kirby if he would visit Pat privately or if Pat could visit him. Silverstream got angry. So this great mystic that Christ was using to draw priests back to the Eucharist does not seem to have space for an private meeting with Pat. If Christ was actually speaking to his heart, he would go to any fallen priest. Even Pat, or allow any fallen priest go to him. The penny dropped for me, I’ve been taken for a fool. Christ’s love and mercy is for all, and we should have the heart of Christ to talk to those who have suffered and walked a different path. I make no apologies for reaching out to Pat. We have radically different views. So what? We agree abuse should stop. Dom Benedict was psychologically and emotionally abused.

Like

Robert, that’s very interesting.

It’s also highly ironic that the great advertised vocation of Silverstream is to support priests, and here they are actively destroying Fr Benedict, the only priest ever ordained for Silverstream (and probably the last too).

Sooner or later all frauds come down. Silverstream was the biggest catholic fraud of the last 10 years in Ireland. The deluded vanity project of one man. Sad.

9.27: Another great hypocrisy, your Robert. Your cynical, nastier side us appearing and I am disappointed. Who are you to tell Dom Mark Kirby what to do, who to speak to and when? Are you crazy? After the most horrible, nasty, sneering, vulgarised, sexualized and vicious condemnation again Mark by Pat, you actually thought he would sit at tablecloth Pat? Robert, you are too fond now of the limelight given to you. You are acting out of a great hubris, sadly. You are intruding unnecessarily into the harmony, peace and reconciliation which Silverstream are desperately seeking. Your turnabout is unhelpful to them. Perhaps you need to bring yourself to God in prayer. You are being utterly unkind. We are being taken for fools by you.

9.27: You Robert contributed to that abuse. Though you’ve apologised, Dom Benedict was ruined by the community and Oblates who, along with you, sided with Kirby. You were forced to rem8ve sime of the comments you made abiut Dom Benedict until recently. I’m all for TRUTH and JUSTICE but please, stop fooling us with all these large headlines of messiaship.

9.27: Your analysis is pious psychology at its worst. You think Dom Kirby should fall prostrate before you and Pat? I am now beginning to recognise your delusions, Robert. Somehow you should ask God’s mercy.

Like

Robert at 9.27: Remember the words of Jesus – “Do not judge, do not condemn…”. You used these very often to speak about the mercy of God, a mercy you asked us to give Dom Mark, yet now he’s doomed to hell or worse, at the receiving end of your harsh judgments. We all know the wrongs of Kirby and the grave concerns expressed about the welfare of the monks. Don’t you believe the monks still need much prayer now? I would worry about their mental well being after this comment and your expression of it. I really do worry about these men. In relation to your live interviews soon with victims of Dom Kirby, I hope you will research all incidents fully. And I’m wondering, if there was any potential law suits against Silverstream, would the live interviews be seen as prejudicial in any such case as, undoubtedly, allegations will be made in your live interviews.

The RCC and most religions are erroneous on the most profound of human encounter. At birth, the Christian Church teaches “ original sin” and then at death it hauls in “ judgment.” As mature and developed as episcopal living for centuries….Biblical Writ as in secrets of the Biblicum needs very particular lenses for their study.

Robert at 10.02: Whow, Whow, whow…When this monastery flourishes as you prayed it will just a day or two ago with great certainty and hope, will you be back on this blog or another one apologising for your behaviour now? I have now lost any trust I had in you. You are not a good judge or as wise as you thought. How will you explain the healing to your daughter? I lost my trust in Silverstream in the last 2 years, despite initially having great admiration for the foundation. But your volte face is nauseating.

The Report was also very critical of Fr Duignan the Parish Priest who was described as being “legalled up to the hilt” & claimed “professional privilege” not to disclose his conversations with Mr Flynn after the death of Fr Molloy. The Garda also stated that Fr Duignan immediately queried on the night if the parish/church “could be left out of it”. Garda interviewed noted there was no empathy for deceased priest from his parish priest, the church comes first.
