WHY BISHOPS ARE TOLERATING AND COVERING UP CORUPTION IN THE CHURCH.

I am going to say something now that will cause cynical clerics and others to mock me and laugh at me.

The primary reason there is corruption and filth in the Church is because Satan is in control of many cardinals, bishops, priests and religious!

What other PRIMARY reason could these be for:

1. Priests having sex on altars?

2. Priests involved in the dark occult?

3. Priests having ravenous sex in saunas?

4. Priests abusing children and adults?

5. Priests not believing or praying?

6. Abbots and monks turning monasteries into houses of debauchery?

7. Abbots having anal sex in monasteries with priests and others on retreats.

8. Priests publishing semi naked pictures of themselves with clerical collars hanging from their erect penises?

Sadly the new Roman Empire, which is the Church, is far more debauched than the original empire.

And here I distinguish between the Body of Christ and the human institution.

I think it was Pope Paul VI who said: “The smoke of Satan has entered the Church”.

When I was growing up the Devil was all we ever heard about.

Now he is never mentioned.

Satan does his best work when people are unaware of him.

Of course there ate secondary reasons gor vorruption and cover up.

Human weakness.

Human badness.

Passing of money from hand to hand.

Blackmail.

Being compromised.

But is all begins with Old Nick and the abandonment of faith and prayer.

Pat,
We criticise the church because not so long ago, the only sin it appeared to be concerned with was sexual sin.
You have replicated that fixation here. Apart from the mention of prayer everything else is of a sexual nature. Perhaps that’s because rhetoric laden with sex is more likely to retain the interest of your readers and commenters.
In reality, sexual sins are not very serious.
Are there other areas of moral theology which interest you? (Let’s have a moratorium on sexual subjects for Lent.)

I don’t believe that sex is always or often a sin.

My concern with priests is not sex, but the living of the double life, even cynically.

I would concur, many of the posters on this blog have a unhealthy and sexually immature obsession with sex, and the blog could do with a break from it. People and our faith are much more than that.

10:57 – Pat yes, but it’s not some stable loving life long mono partnerships these guys are having that’s causing all the bother, all the worst destructive offenders, predators and abusers have no interest in any of that, nor do the sexual trolls that you seem hell bent on facilitating and encouraging here to the utter determent of your good work. I don’t get your rationale or logic here. You must know it’s a problem.

I am extremely thankful for your coverage of this important topic Pat. I speak to you as someone who is living proof of clerical abuse of position, authority and status towards me. And let me tell you I still relive it frequently.
It is not ancient, in fact the details would shock people across the North today. To this end, I think it prudent to not play the game, but to look to those who are working for justice, like you Pat.
I also reflect upon telling a ‘professional’ about my unsettling experience which he refused to believe; following it by driving past the parochial house door and asking me if I wanted to go in for seconds while laughing. There is much more he said but I can’t say it publically.
This individual is tasked with what we might can pastoral care also, which intensifies the feeling of disgust in my stomach all the more.
There is a grave injustice in our entire Catholic community Pat. Professionals are not who they say they are. Too closely aligned with the wrong kind of priest. But time is a gift and patience is something even greater. Timing is everything. I do intend to publically tell my story.

Like

11:34 Professionals aligned to the Church whether they be Counsellors, teachers or others are going to put the interests of their paymaster Church first & you will be discredited on any reports that they write. Do not underestimate the damage that priests and their associates will execute to protect their own priorities.

Shocking but not surprising 11:34pm, some of these so called “Therapists” at €100 per hour are every bit as warped, manipulating, controlling and psychologically damaging as the abusers. It’s a predators paradise out there.

I remember 1985 the year of the “moving statues ” when Our Lady was said to be appearing to children at the grotto near Mount Melleray. One of the messages she was reported to have shared with them was that the world needs to change and turn to prayer and if this doesn’t happen the Devil will take over the church in 10 years. At the time I thought it was nonsence but it stuck in my head and I’ve often wondered……

Agree Pat, there is a definitely a large demonic element to all this, at the very least oppression etc. Separate to that I did not think possessions existed in this day and age until I personally witnessed one forced to manifest in that poor possessed person. I’ll never forget it as long as I live, that inhuman sound, with every trace of goodness totally removed, the most frightening and disturbing thing I’ve experienced. Have you come across any possessions in your time Pat?
“Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.”
Off topic, but typical of the “interesting” times we live in, Patrick Coffin one of the former hosts of Catholic Answers has just come out to state why he now believes Pope Francis is an Anti-Pope and Pope Benedict is still the true Pope. (Patrick Coffin is not a trad by the way, if anything he’s been anti Trad). I don’t agree with his hypothesis , but it’s a sign of the strange times none the less.

Just curious. The 4 men who came forward on Pat’s blog two days ago did not want to be identified for fear of reprisals. Will you be interviewing them? They could remain anonymous but it would be good to hear their experiences, from the horses mouth so to speak.

Or, have you identified other abuse victims? Might Dom A be one of the interviewees since you are now in contact with him.

I hope Dom A has more sense than let himself be interviewed especially if he’s trying to seek reconciliation but I don’t deny it would be interesting to hear his story.

Like

Exactly. On this I agree with RN. For most of my life I thought the demonic was inactive / non existent in this world. Until I experienced otherwise, which turned my world view upside down. I don’t speak of it, except to the other people who were there, because unless you see it yourself no one believes you. When you see it you will know it, believe me. Demons do not like to reveal themselves unless forced, because when they do, it proves God’s existence as much as the demonic.

MMM, I did not say that Satan was a “physical” reality. In my faith I believe that both God and Satan are spiritual realities, God being the personification of Good and Satan the personification of Evil. And I also believe that both God and Satan can sometimes take on physical attributes.

+Pat: by intentionally using the word “agent” at 12.22 above I was referring to an entity, spiritual or material, who/which activates, causes, or induces an activity or action.
I continue to think that all belief that such an agent as the “devil”, or “God” actually exists and “causes” action/s is misguided.
The sincere belief in, and concept of both, are evolved human characteristics which often induce behaviours in keeping with perceptions of the attributes or properties of these ‘imagined’ entities.

7.33, what has evolved is: i – a neutral (probable) ability to simply sense these matters when OR if a time comes (where 10.10 and the other 10.12 are at); ii – and all important the “ability” of any power misusers to imply this as a warped excuse which I think was the force of your 12.22 indirectly reflecting back the false stance they project. Some of us are adding to reasons to call out those who claim to finesse their betrayal on grounds of “spiritual ontology” that is supposed to work to their convenience (disproving them on their own terms in the sight of their followers). Some people aren’t just ridiculous, they are doing the world harm with their “oh look, I’m very nearly – i.e not nearly – as degenerate as thou” attitude. Our alertness to ii is what stands our consciences in good stead. I think the shock will not be a nasty one to you.

Francis told the Italian Episcopal Conference that gay men should not be admitted to seminaries and he expressed concern that their formation was entrusted to gay priests. He added that homosexuality in the priesthood was one of his three worries about the Italian church.

Like

Oscott / Gaycott, Allen Hall / Alice Hall etc. really do need to clean up their act. If someone were to do an audit over, say, the last ten years of seminarians who have become priests from these places, and worked out where they are now, what trouble some of them have been in, who is in prison or has been prosecuted etc., then I think the figures will be very revealing as to what kind of men these places train and produce, what their predilections are, and how they behave once ordained. If nothing else, the figures for those who have gone MIA or left or disappeared at the 5 year point would be very interesting. All of this suggests that there is something wrong with the selection of seminarians, definitely something askew with the formation they receive, and probably even wrong with bringing these young men in the first place in to a church and clerical culture that is itself dysfunctional and dangerous to the wellbeing of these men and to those they minister to once they have been mis-formed by these places. There are very serious questions to answer.

My Apologies, the interview is moved until the legal sides are 100% cleared. I don’t want to victimise anymore. I would just ask if anyone feels they are suffering to understand they have help. Last thing I want to do is more harm. Sometimes it takes years for people to realise what happened to them was not right. What happened to Dom Benedict was not right. What happened to you was not right. The church would love for all this to go away. But if it’s not addressed some other charismatic spark will do the exact same. Dom Mark was using men who were weak, who had past problems and WEAPONISED those men for his own means. WITHOUT transparency, openness and dialogue. Which is why it took Dom Benedict to understand he was a victim. He was literally driven mad in that monastery by a very very sophisticated system of SECRET control. So to be clear I don’t want anyone victimised. Just meditate out on the experience of what happened. There will be a victim with the victims. But please know irrespective of any past problems, Silverstream had no right to weaponise men’s weaknesses TO CONTROL THEM!!!!

You should surely know the very concept is fraught with all kinds of legalities for you, victims and any potential lawsuit. I’m sure Pat will confirm this for you. Also, you may need to speak with professional therapists first for professional advice. I believe you have so much to offer both in prayer and spirituality and these may be your best gift to offer any victim. Where abuse is concerned, you have a moral and civic duty to go to relevant authorities before any interviews. A victim today has spoken about your approach and you must listen. I think there is a simpler explanation for the corruption and cover up, and it’s the only thing which explains everything including why the entire hierarchy were happy to cover up crime…. The church is a criminal organization and the religion bit is a front. If you get caught up in religious explanations for the church’s behaviour you are still dealing with the front and have essentially been taken in. The church requires this front to cover up its real activities which are of course all about money, sex and power.
This is the only explanation for clergy who don’t believe the religion, laundering charitable donations, covering up criminal sex, etc, on an international level.

Why? Well as someone who works in the community I from first hand experience tell you that again and again the church has hurt, let down, disappointed and moreover restricted the vulnerable rather than liberated or supported them. Poor mental health is perpetuated by its rigidity and self serving behaviour.
Its not all black and white of course, the church has too done great work but it seems to have lost its way, its mission and ultimately peoples confidence to facilitate gods love. Thankfully people are beginning to challenge and ultimately think for themselves. The good news is I and the majority now endeavour to support people in that way. The church cannot control how we think anymore and perhaps this is its greatest threat! Change is occuring and we all know in say 5 or 10 years time we will most likely see with clarity the insanity that was imposed on us.
He came to set you free and have life to the full. Do just that! Think for yourself. Pray your way. Love.

Things will improve for the RCC when it makes peace with its victims by putting right the wrongs done to them. Until then, all they appear to do is engage in daily demonstrations of a toxic and vicious defence of the indefensible across the board.

A lot of people think morality applies to other people, and that they are a special case / exception. It’s always about looking at what others are doing instead of sorting out ourselves. Many think they can invent their own reality/version as some kind of work around.

I often think of her saying when tempted to crucify others for their sins and failings. Maybe we are too merciless at times. God’s graces grow through kindness and mercy. Psychologically, when we are constantly told the “bad” we are, we rarely change..Spiritually, we also need God’s consolation. Mercy.

4.13 et al, from a comment to one of RN’s longer videos:
quote
William O’Reilly
William O’Reilly

In Sinu Jesu, Father Mark Kirby claims that Jesus told him the love of his priests gives him a level of consolation that is categorically greater than the love he receives from the laity. “There is a consolation that only My priests sojourning on earth, in the valley of the shadow of death, can offer Me. Only those who live for the altar and from the altar can give Me the consoling and adoring love that delivers Me from the sorrow that constrains My Sacred Heart” (p. 156).
Such clerical exceptionalism is astonishing even when conveyed by a traditionalist; it is simply not true, and the writings of Catholic tradition do not uphold it but rather contradict it.
The constant tradition of the Church proclaims that union with Christ is attained through the virtues of faith, hope, and love; that, of these, the greatest is love (1 Cor 13:13); and that the layperson is called to love Christ in exactly the same manner as the priest.

Most Romans misread when they get to Jesus’ mum (whom WOR cites next) because, funnily, she was not their high priestess after all, but laity.

An no. Guys. Those men who went to Silverstream went in good faith. I don’t want anything back, but the honest truth. Life is easier when people are just open and transparent. Dom Benedict went in good faith. But there was no team of men to help. It takes a community to form a monk, not one illuminated man who has a direct number to God. I would prefer the Monastery settle with Dom Benedict and move on. Had they done this 2 years ago it would be over. They brought this on themselves.

They belong to the Olivetan congregation, which is unusual because the monks vow stability to the congregation rather than the individual monastery like other Benedictines. I think the founding monks came from Bec Abbey in France.
I have heard mixed things, both very good and some disastrous things about the Olivetans. Their monastery in London closed despite having been growing and built a new building about a decade before and one of the monks – who moved to Bec – went to prison for the usual.

It always makes me laugh when someone posts anonymously calling out other posters for posting anonymously – but I’m guessing YOU just don’t see any contradiction or hypocrisy in that position.
I have been one of the anonymous ‘trolls’ hounding Robert N.
You might find us desperate and hysterical. I find the comments directed at Robert to be well-founded and generally respectful. They are simply calling him out on his inconsistencies and his tendency to react and post videos without proper consideration and forethought.
I have no issue with Robert Nugent and I do not doubt his sincerity but I do question his abilities to challenge these issues single-handedly and I have issues with his sudden ‘road to Damascus’ turnaround in his attitude to +Pat Buckley, Dom A, Dom Kirby and Silverstream.
I haven’t always trolled him either – I have commended him on his public apology to Dom A. I have said I looked forward to his victims of Kirby interview and even offered helpful suggestions such as getting a moderator or suggesting he turn off live commenting on for this interview.
Robert has already called me a troll – (that’s the usual form of dismissal for posters who hit a raw nerve.) I have assured Robert that I am quite happy to continue challenging his position and if that makes me a troll, well then, I am a troll.
I like to think my challenges to Robert help him tighten up his thought process. Naive perhaps but genuinely meant.
Time to go – mother doesn’t like me spending too much time in the basement, She is afraid I’ll get up to no good on them there internets.

2.) Sometimes we discover that people we disagree with might actually have something to say thats worth hearing.

7.58 and 8.51: Asmodeus, I too feel Robert has to be challenged. I don’t doubt his genuineness or faith commitment nor do I doubt his desire for TRUTH and JUSTICE. However, he has shown lack of “discernnent” in his thought processes and methodology re: the Dom Kirby and Thurles isdues. Also, his videos are sometimes so impassioned and overstated with inconsistencies, he must give more time to thinking through with greater clarity his future approach. Does he now act for Pat on this blig and through his videos? What disturbed me most was the instant abandoning of Silverstream when the monastery said they didn’t wish to respond to him. Most others would not have expected the monastery to be subjected to more hurt and publicity. The awful enraged response from RN was very scary in a worrying way.

Like

6.49: The problem is that RN is promising big things. Thurles Report: not delivered. Live stream interviews: not possible and not properly thought through. Now he’s aware of legalities because of commenters observations. RN idolized D Kirby until a few days ago; now this man is a fraud. He denounced the entire Silverstream project as a vanity project having prayed a few days ago for its flourishing and proclaiming that with prayer, MERCY, KINDNESS and PATIENCE from all critics the monastery would grow. Yes, flourish and grow. Now, RN has thrown the entire community in from of a heavy rolling bus. What about the well being and health of the monks in Silverstream? Are these not relevant anymore? I am trying to visualuse them un their dusconfirt and hurt. I have encountered many broken families, often brought about by drugs, drink or domestic abuse and have sought to do my level best. When unable to continue, I got professional help by way of counselling, mediation or psychological support. I would hate if I ever took sides and caused further pain and certainly I would never make a definitive determination about any family’s future. I have huge respect for RN’s Catholic faith and his espoused Christian values which are laudable but the threads of his many inconsistencies are remarkable. Would Robert let us know if Dom Benedict accepts his intervention on his behalf. This is important information. My thesis is that if possible, the monks should be offered genuine spiritual support by our prayers for them. I am astonished that when the monks got annoyed as RN said, he then abandoned them like they were evil dinosaurs and went on what I can only describe as a you tube rampage which I found disturbing.

8.25: Possibly a little hyperbole.. But when I go to listen ti music or watch sport on you tube these nights the RN videos pop up and being the curious person I am, I watch them, some with absolute incredulity, as of recent times. The changing narratives jar a little because, while we know where Pat stands, it is difficult to ascertain where RN is. However, some of Robert’s videos are very enlightening on prayer, faith and spirituality. His mission and outreach to men is wonderful and a very necessary Christian ministry. This is where I am at ine with him and also in his emphasising of God’s mercy, love and compassion – even for very broken sinners! For now I will pray for RN in his life and good work beyond monasteries and seminaries.
