“THE DEVIL LOOKS AFTER HIS OWN”.
For several years now the whole Roman cohort has been protecting Silverstrem and Kirby
The Bishop of Meath has done NOTHING.
The Three Stoogie Investigation has done NOTHING.
Rome has done NOTHING.
The Nuncio has done NOTHING.
In the meantime, Kirby the abuser is still holed up in the monastery with all the young monks.
They have given the title: Very Reverend Father.
Elijah is only the prior in name only. But Elijah is Kirby’s puppet.
Kirby is still running Silverstream and still deforming young monks.

And the various authorities are tolerating it all.
Meanwhile Dom Benedict is being looked after by his family and at their expense and has little income and no access to the proper health care.
And Satan is laughing all the way to Hell.
Silverstream is a microcosm of the RCC.
Lies, cover up, supporting abusers, walking all over victims etc.
There is only one question I must ask:
“Do those who support the Roman Catholic Institution in any way not realise they are supporting Satan”?

NOEL TREANOR GOES TRAD

The fact Kirby the waffler (I heard one of his sermons and thought little of it, just fancily saying a load of nothing) is still front and centre on its website (https://www.cenacleosb.org/, little the second image on that slideshow), plus the clever form of words on how he’s in the clear, suggests nothing has happened, but I think there is a change. Robert Nugent was once a Kirby acolyte of sorts, but now sees the matter clearly. If Prof Kwasnieski (https://www.peterkwasniewski.com/) could be persuaded, Kirby might be sooner on the move. Yet my suspicion, perhaps wrong, is that Kirby has done whatever’s needed to be a made man in the Lavender Mafia, something hinted at by the composition of the last visitation. The views of some bloggers mightn’t matter in that case. My hope is that Silverstream could get a proper visitation. Hopefully, it results in the removal of Kirby and some changes which remove its cultish character. If it is incurably a Kirby cult, then likely it would have to be suppressed (or so heavily remade that it would be effectively a new foundation), but I hope and pray this monastery can be properly fixed. A focus on Adoration is no bad thing.

I cannot see how a pulpit is unpastoral. In some traditions it almost has the place of the altar for Catholics. It was sold directly by the Presbyterian community there to the ICKSP. I hope the fine carpentry is retained. It can be a very good thing to see the preacher clearly rather barely seeing him as might be usual now.

Sorry, I should have been clearer in saying that I meant that, as a good bishop, he goes to all the churches in his diocese and to all parts of his flock, including those who attend the TLM. The word “pastoral” is one of the most abused and wrongly used words favoured by Spirit of VII people.

The question you ask of those who support the Roman Catholic Church could just as easily read – Do those who support Pat Buckley not realise they are supporting the devil.. Both are preposterous propositions. You could be “satan driven” with all the hurt, vengeance, vindictiveness and poison you’ve dished up. Sometimes Pat we fail to see our own evil and sin. And Yes, scripture is right – the devil prowls around like a roaring lion……in Larne as much as anywhere else.

Pat : “Do those who support the Roman Catholic Institution in any way not realise they are supporting Satan”?
No I don’t believe so, as I don’t look to fallen Cardinals, Bishops, Priests, and laypeople but to the many genuine Saints of the Church throughout history and what they did and believed, and the many ordinary good people that still exist in the Church today. “And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” Matt 16:18 as I’m sure you know.
Pat can I ask why you believe the Saints and ordinary good people in the Church are in fact supporting Satan, and what you believe the solution is? Should they all leave and create independent Churches, or join another one, or just forget about the sacraments and any Church, and just to their own thing religion wise?

10.08 this is a question I’ve been struggling with as well and reading around I have found a few different people’s strategies to it.
Some people do change denomination however it is difficult or impossible to find one with no history of abuse cover up. I’m thinking of a woman who was surprised to find a home in a Lutheran church and does support the individual church but not the denomination.
It is undoubtedly easier to move if you are not looking for Catholic order.
Some people become freelance and go to different churches.
There are now some very small groups meeting online only which don’t have a known history of abuse or are composed of people in exactly this position.
My own opinion is currently that it is reasonable to expect a church not to harm people and cover up crime and since it seems there isn’t one the Christian religion is unlikely to be true. All churches have had examples of crime being covered up but its international reach and the universal cover up by the hierarchy at the Pope’s behest, still makes the RC church the worst offender.

The moral hypocrisy of a clergyman can cast a dark cloud over a parish, through no fault of the parishioners. The next appointment to the parish is often crucial to appease the angry faithful.
The faithful are a Christian community. It is Episcopal leaders who have moved errant clergymen around to minimise scandal and often putting other people in harms way.

@10:28: I see the ‘casting around’ searching for ‘a church’ as the evolved human characteristic of seeking some meaningful explanation for our existence.
Each of the the plethora of churches has it’s own attractive format, from the extremes of the bible thumping ‘salvationists’ to more all embracing Unitarianism. And absorption/identification with like minded believers adds credence, …….no matter how obscure or ridiculous the church’s core belief.
But none of it provides validity or proof.
The “naked king’s invisible, yet wonderful, suit of clothes” syndrome provides a lesson.

I’m 10:28. Yes totally agree. The people I have come across who have done this usually have retained a Christian faith and to varying degrees want to continue in a faith community. In the age of the internet I think this will become increasingly difficult since the only denominations which haven’t had sex scandals are tiny and new – their track record is essentially unestablished.
The absorption into the community you speak of becomes more difficult with successive bad experiences (or rather encountering the reality) if it doesn’t make people lose their remaining faith.
There is so much trauma around I think the next church movement will be increasing but never huge numbers of Christians who are essentially freelance and may never engage in community.
An interesting parallel would be solitary practitioners in modern pagan religions.

What moral compass underpins or informs personnel in the Rcc? I have no idea what rationale these people use in their dealings with abuse survivors or anyone else or anything else (finance) at this stage. In my opinion the hierarchy have lost credibility and moral authority.
LikeLike
The moral compass is very simple:
1. We are always right and everyone else is always wrong.
2. We teach the teachings of the church and it doesn’t matter that we don’t believe or follow them (although this one has been eroded with their vanishing credibility, for example Kieron Conroy not teaching about sexual sin because he was having his end away).
3. Always prioritize money and power and do what is expedient.
4. Never write anything down or admit to anything.
5. Only pay attention to any criticism or any victims if it looks like you might end up in prison yourself.

It’s only a question of time until more and more tumbles out. USA / UK / Ireland yesterday, Italy today, but you just wait until what is happening in Third World countries, especially Africa, starts to become headlines. That will put everything that went before it, bad as it has been already, in to the shadows. The missionaries showed the indigenous clergy how to do it, and now they are in charge they have taken it to a new level. We aren’t allowed to talk too much about it, because it’s interpreted as imperialist / colonial / racist. But, out it will come……..

Well the approach to the missions *was* imperialist, colonialist and racist and describing it as such isn’t so you’re a bit confused. There was a long tradition of putting the more dodgy clergy in the roles considered less plumb or where the recipients of their abuse would not complain. If you look around the internet the same pattern of covering up and discrediting victims has started to emerge and of course there was the case of Fr Kit Cunningham.

Very illuminating article on how the Lavender Mafia operate and now control the Church:
The emphasis of this article is for the USA, but the system works the same way in other countries.
I believe this also possibly explains how Kirby got to leave the USA and Start up Silverstream in the first place, and how he is still there.
It would also help explain the campaign of intimidation RN and his family are now experiencing.
https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/mccarrick-catholic-church-how-the-lavender-mafia-works/
” Sipe was a Vatican II liberal, and he said what he said not because he believed gay men could not be good priests. Rather, he said it because he said the networks of exploitation were so extensive and so powerful within the Catholic clergy in the US that a gay man who intended to live chastely would face a hellacious press from priests, seminary rectors, and others, to act on it.
And once they acted on it, said Sipe, they were neutralized. Even if they were chaste for the rest of their lives, the fact of their having compromised once would make them blackmailable, and commit them to turning a blind eye to sexual misconduct among other priests.
Therefore, according to Sipe, gay men shouldn’t be ordained to protect them from this system that would exploit, abuse, and instrumentalize them. “
LikeLike
The article also interestingly makes the accurate connection that the gay men the Mafia promotes are perceived to be orthodox, which strikes straight to the Silverstream thing.
TBH it’s a bit difficult to see who should be ordained at this time in the light of that article. Would you really want to get into that shambles if you were straight or gay or bi and a decent human being?

Tony Flannery’s Esker “Monastery” has renewed itself out of existence.
Statement from the Diocese of Clonfert:
Prayers and Best Wishes on the Closing of St Patrick’s Redemptorist, Monastery, Esker
It is with sadness that we heard during the week that the presence of the Redemptorist Fathers at Esker in the Diocese of Clonfert is to come to an end. Esker Monastery has been an integral part of our Diocese for more than a century and its closure will be a great loss to the local Esker area and indeed to the Diocese as a whole. Over the years the Redemptorist community at Esker have played an important role in our diocesan community – providing priests to minister in our parishes, offering a place of spiritual nourishment and support to clergy and laity, contributing greatly to the life of the local church communities and in particular a fruitful outreach to youth and school groups. For this, we are deeply grateful. We give thanks to God for the service and witness given by so many Redemptorists at Esker over the years. To close a house with such a long and venerable tradition is always a difficult decision for any religious community and one not taken lightly. However, in light of the current challenges that many of our religious communities face, it is totally understandable. To Fr Dan Dan Baragry C.Ss.R., Redemptorist Provincial, Fr Fr Brendan Callanan CSsR, Rector all at Esker we say Thank You!” We give thanks to God for your presence among us. We wish you well on the next stage of the journey and pray God’s blessings upon you into the future.

The other interesting point is what happens to all the €€€s raised from the sale of assets built up in the pre-Vatican II days. Although built with the pennies of the poor, the multi-million proceeds won’t go to the poor but will be used to keep Tony & Co in the style to which they are accustomed. In the coming years there will be a flood of renewed religious houses up for sale. Maybe the SSPX should buy them; they need the room.

I do not wish to be misunderstood in any way. I am abhorred by the abuses in Silverstream. I believe Dom Kirby must be removed. I appreciate the concerns expressed by commenters. The rhetoric has been harsh at times but legitimate. Dom Benedict deserves justice. Having read the commentary today, led by Pat particularly and having seen the added sexualised imagery and logos, I believe this blog is acting very vindictively, dangerously and abusively against the community. Can we imagine being in a family in an estate that was being vilified, harrassed, ridiculed, bullied and debased in the way this community is enduring? Believe you me, some families have experienced this because of racism, prejudices and drugs related issues. Would it be morally justified if such a family was subjected to relentless abuse on any social platform or that any of us took part in and encouraged this behaviour? Absolutely not. I do not personally know any of the monks apart from some visits years past. I found solace there, T. God. The onslaught today must be having a very negative impact on the men – human beings, at this moment. The impact of nasty, bigoted and denigratory language will have an emotional, mental and spiritual effect on all of them. In Christian charity, in Christ’s name, can we stop the onslaught? There has to have more conciliatory, charitable and kinder way of helping this community. It may all end soon and each or all monks transferred to other monasteries but I cannot share the horrendous, on-going subjection of these men to the abuse being given today. I am appalled at RN’s complete abandoning of these men, a community he embraced, loved and supported until he was refused a phone call by the community. He then went dangerously outraged in his videos. Pat, I am not asking you to stop cease questioning or seeking justice for Dom Benedict but can you rethink your approach. Is it a Christ like attitude to continue this nasty debasement of men who, in all likelihood, like you and me entering seminary, entered the monastery with the noblest of intentions? The pathway to their dreams is now shattered and is it right to be scoffing at their struggles and sufferings? Can we pray that they will not be harmed in any way by all this humiliating publicity and that they will find professional guidance soon. Think too about the families of these monks. We can only guess the concerns and fears they have for their safety and well being. God guide all of us. Language used wrongly can incite viokence. RN has found this to be a scary experience ever since he came on this blog. I’d be interested to know his true thoughts at this juncture…

Don’t forget that much of the spirituality of Silverstream is about reparation and such things as being a victim soul and wounded so with no disrespect they can only expect some woundedness. I expect they have missed the total contradiction that Silverstream is claimed to be divinely inspired and any criticism is therefore against the will of God.

I have sympathy for the younger monks and novices, but the more senior monks must be complicit with Kirby, Deenihan, and Coffey, and thus have brought ridicule on their entire community. Every day Kirby remains in that community with the approbation of Deenihan, every single monk suffers in reputation. It’s the sad, painful reality.

Is there any record of whether Silverstream use the physical penances common in religious life before the council – the discipline and salice and so on? They are common in these so-called trad monasteries but were rightly one of the first things to go after the council because self harm isn’t part of a Christian life. By the sixties there was also a recognition that some monks got off on these penances.

Is the explosive report into Thurles, that was going to blow the lid off everything, nearly ready? Or have we already had it a few days ago?

Watched a few older interviews with Kirby about Silverstream on YouTube there.
First time I’ve seen or heard him speak.
He comes across as a smarmy and off, and too keen to be the centre of attention.
The young naïve monks in the clips look ripe for the slaughter. I feel so sorry for them and their families. Mother Mary of God, please pray for us.

A good “teacher” or Father in any walk of life is one who’s ambition is to teach their students/children so well, and give them a good head start so that they exceed their teacher’s/father’s ability/achievements, and so in turn, the human race progresses in a positive direction, generation by generation. People like Kirby are only interested in showing how superior and more charming they are to those under their care.

Pat,
A wonderful intervention from President Higgins today on integrated education.
Recently the case parochial, old-fashioned case was made for Catholic segregated education. While reasonably well written the piece was rather inward looking. The time has well and truly come to tell the Catholic Church and its clerics, to stay out of the education of our children. Isn’t that where the segregation begins?
It is entirely baffling to read ‘educated’ people make the case in a pluralist society, for Catholic segregated education. They back this ancient rhetoric up with echoes of “Catholic schools are pluralist and open to all faiths, and of course, inclusive”. I know fee Protestant families (very few) who send their children to such a Catholic school. Get real folks. Stop clutching to the cassocks and let us craft a shared future together. Please God the Integrated Education Bill passes; power shall leave the Church and be placed back in the schools.
Praise to President Higgins!

A sensible and timely comment @ 9.25, which I assume relates to the ROI.
The same charades are now playing out in N. Ireland. “Educationalists” are trying to obscure their vested interests with similar arguments, claiming their schools are “open to all religions, and none” The “Protestant sector”, and in particular, their politicians, are particularly vehement, and object to what they regard as emphasis on the integrated sector depriving “non integrated ” sector of necessary resources.

For those who like that sort of thing, here is an RTE Radio 1 interview with two Maynooth sems. The farcical celibacy discussion starts at 3:55, and unbelievably, the presenter says that she had been talking recently with Darcy, who told her that not being able to marry was the downside to being a priest.

I know a priest from Northern Ireland who is actively gay, has casual sex constantly, is known to his bishop and diocesan personnel for this, and lives normally and lives very well indeed.
If you’re gay or straight and think you want to be a priest in Northern Ireland, go ahead. You’ll definitely get away with it no bother.

8:02 Actually the reason none of my family go to mass is my grandfather and his two brothers were all raped by priests (before Vatican II and swore nobody in the family would go to mass again.
And yes they all learned the catechism and used to recite it with rude words when they were drunk 😂

Because they didn’t know – the boys didn’t tell them until well afterwards as victims frequently don’t. One of the two priests who abused the three of them told the one he abused that he would go to hell, for example, if he told anyone and of course he believed him.
I would recommend the accounts on the Beyond the Pine Curtain website to learn how abusers work.

No John, there are many places. Most populous would be Rome. Belgium is also home to a peculiar branch of clergy, possibly those who wish to blend in more with normal people.

I suppose the reason for his indisposition is top secret? A bunch of older women and priests, suggests business (and failure) as usual. Anyhow, whoever they would have, would be window dressing for pre-made decisions, usually drawn up by HQ, if that’s not too obvious.
