As a Christian a priest and bishop I do of course believe that God is able to and does speak to certain people.
But in general God uses other people and daily circumstances to communicate with us.
Occasionally, God raises up mystics like St John of the Cross, St Teresa of Avila etc and communicates with them.
DOM KIRBY AS MYSTIC?
I do not believe that Dom Mark Kirby is a mystic or that Jesus was speaking to him from the tabernacle.
Kirby has and has always had, serious psychological and emotional problems.
His sexual abuse as a child, which he has never really come to terms with, has left him seriously psychologically scarred.
His failure to accept his homosexual orientation and to hide behind the holy, chaste, celibate monk image is a serious case of sexual repression and sublimation.
His habit of expressing his sexuality by his fascination with younger men and having whoopsie moments with them of genital exposure is very disordered.
In Sinu Jesu Mark Kirby is trying to reinvent himself as a “saint” in order to cope with the ‘sinner” he really believes he is.
That it became a spiritual best seller says more about the minds of the buyers and readers than it does anything else.
Why is it human beings are always in search of new gurus and Christians are not satisfied with Jesus Christ?
NUN STALKERS
Nuns stalking priests is by no means a new phenomenon.
I had two nun stalkers as a younger priest.
They would beg me to let them do my washing.
In the car they wanted to hold hands as we drove along.
They got viciously jealous if I dared look at another nun.
One even burgled a consultants office and filing cabinet to get reading my medical notes!
I love that word invented by the playwright – CHASTITUTE.
Priests and monks who have not come to terms with their sexuality and engage in secret sexual behaviour are male chastitutes.
Nuns, who have never had a baby in their womb and get a notion of a priest and stalk him are female chastitutes.
It now seems that Dom Kirby chastitute has her “baby” now living under her roof?
As a priest once said to me:
