I was angered and disgusted by this priest, wearing Tridentine vestments basically preaching hate.
His diatribe was a display of absolute ignorance and intolerance.
Mass goers should not be subject to hate like this.
The problem, of course, is that Egan, the bishop of that diocese, has taken on so many weirdo priests from all kinds of places.
And, he fast tracked John Paul Lyttle to ordination and the disaster he has become.

IMPORTING FOREIGN PRIESTS
Importing foreign priests brings its own problems with it.
Sometimes, their English is not good, or they have very heavy accents that make it difficult to hear what they are saying.
If they come from places like Africa, they bring with them cultural baggage about things like sexual orientation and gender.
Occasionally, because of a background in poverty, they desire to build up wealth quickly and not always in appropriate ways. There have been instances of foreign priests setting up car sales businesses in church carparks, etc.
I think bishops in the West would be far better looking for new ways of involving people in ministry – permanent deacons, etc.
And if we want to kick-start vocations again, we are going to have to address what is putting people off becoming priests.
110 replies on “DISGRACEFUL PULPIT LANGUAGE AND IGNORANCE.”
What can Portsmouth clergy tell us about Egan?
Wasn’t he at Oscott?
One’s senses a whiff or even a pungent aroma of repressed homosexuality about him and his diocese.
It’s the rule of the closet they who protest too much are hiding something- invariably their own repressed and frustrated homosexuality.
What do the other bishops think of Egan?
Egan has a PhD so he’s down as a clever clogs – like Wilson but both have low EQ and I suspect are both good friends of Dorothy.
Every other parish in Birmingham is run by an African, Indian or Asian priest – money on checks/balances on the parish cheque book poor and a disaster waiting to happen.

It was in the main a denunciation of the cult of transgenderism, where young children are brainwashed by insane parents or teachers, or forced, to dress in a way other than their biological sex. A portion of these often depressed children will fall prey to butchers such as the incompetent and callous Dr Sidhbh Treasa Gallagher. It is a cult which sees mediocre male athletes mildly feminise and enjoy women’s competitions, trouncing the opposition and in the dressing room these men will make no efforts to conceal their genitals. Lia Thomas is a notable example. Now if Fr started raging about gay people in general like the Patriarch Cigarette or Fifty Hats aka Kirill of Moscow, after I finished watching, there is possibly a closeted gay man protesting against himself to his congregation, but the present cult of transgenderism is wicked. Speaking against that is reasonable.
I will say whatever he said, he said it quite well. A good many priests are veritably plotting to put Catholics into boredom comas. A seminarian who cannot preach should be ‘washed out’ as the Americans might say, even if he sees his future as diocesan vicar general, not someone to ‘feed My sheep.’

The numerous reported cases of various abuses including sexual abuse and/or harassment of seminarians is detrimental to the recruitment process. Don’t forget cover-up by the hierarchy. There’s also abuse and rape of women
religious by clerics as well as stealing of monies by some clerics and some of those
working for the church.(see Les Cochran’s book; ‘Thievery-Catholic Church Exposed’).
Why would any young man want to become a priest knowing of the corrupt underbelly and
toxic clerical culture within the institutional church. God can be served in numerous ways other than priesthood. What else is covered up by the ‘do as I say not as I do brigade’?

Yesterday you claimed to always ask your self “What would Jesus do?”

God doesn’t exist for most of them except for them to claim un outrage – “God makes us as we are” or “Jesus wouldn’t be a homophobe”. Jesus certainly didnt approve of wayward, perverse or un-Godly ways. Neither did Jesus ask us to meet hatred with hatred or abuse with abuse, as is happening to this priest. I guess some would love to bring him somewhere to muzzle him…and inflict harm on him. This priest deserves to be admonished for his hurtful views and apologise but the uncontrolled hate anger against him is just as bad and needs to be named for what it is: racist, bigoted, offensive and as likely to evoke a violence against him. This African priest is dpijen abiut tiday on this blog as if he is “dirt” and unwanted on British or Irish soil. Morally disgusting and harmful thinking.

What surprised me most about this sermon was not so much its content, even its unapologetic homophobia and the appeal to the god-thug of the OT (who, apparently, grants everyone free will, and then threatens him or her with dire punishment if each dares to exercise it 😅), but the fact that the congregation actually, really, sat through a protracted, repititious, tedious and tiresome moral harangue by a man associated with a priesthood which, like the institution it bows down before, absolutely reeks of moral corruption
The priest appealed to personal penance as one measure of spiritual armour, while the irony of his penitentially long sermon for the congregation seemed to escape him.
Why do sensible, intelligent people give authority to these men, parasitical, romanist priests? Because, obviously, they are neither sensible nor intelligent.
My deepest sympathy goes to the gay kids in the congregation (there must have been some), who had to shrink and shudder, while a pious-sounding, self-righteous, clerical parasite droned that they were effectively the Devil himself. What else could they have thought, when the parasite had already described their LGBT-inclusive teachers as ‘little devils’.
Why do these ‘duckers’ lack the empathy most others possess and which enables them to recognise the withering effect such moral and personal denunciation can cause?
But my utter contempt (apart from that for the priest) goes to the adult members of the congregation, who lacked the moral courage to call out this man, for the moral and psychological harm he was causing even their gay children, by quietly getting up, and walking out of that temple of ignorance and hate.
God was not present in that sermon; there was only the priest: his words, his thoughts, his betrayal of everyone present, especially the gay kids.

Pat, there is no such thing as a Catholic school anymore. There is the odd rural religious school with a desperado ethos; but with closer examination of such, staff and leadership often leave a lot to be desired.
Also on a little aside: we hear a lot about school results and league tables in the Catholic sector; what the public don’t see is the loop holes leadership in those schools often use to either hide or discount poor grades. Never believe the 100% pass rate jargon.
As for your video, the Catholic Church really is wide-ranging and universal. I say this because I have witnessed a priest now say that the ‘Anything Goes’ approach is wrong, and I have been told of priests who preach the opposite. When are the traditionally stupid lay people of the Church going to wake up, and cut the financial piggy bank?
Priests should remember that we are made in God’s image and likeness. It is not their job to create a God for us from their idea of what they’d like.

However, the thought does occur to me that he may well have contravened some laws in this country, even if they are done in church and what he hopes is the cover of ecclesiastical exemption. I do hope somebody makes a complaint to the police on the basis of hate speech against a particular group, and that the police take a good look at it and have a chat with him. And, perhaps charge him. Then he could be sent home. Where does he come from ? Let him try standing up in a pulpit in his own country and talk in this way about a particular tribe, or politician, or president, and he would end up being fodder for the chicken coop. Egan needs to get a grip. He still works on the ex opere operato model, so if the guy is a priest then he has to be good and what he does has to be good, so nothing else matters. Idiot.

I’d say – Latin Mass vestments, effeminate high pitch voice – sounding more like a Bitchy Queen whose having a shit day with a shed load of either repressed homosexuality or full on active homosexual but gets his kicks from the screaming and dazzling hypocrisy of condemning his own orientation and lifestyle.

But, he does lack a lot of cop on, speaking like that about Catholic education and Catholic teachers. I doubt if he really knows much about education, and has just hobbled this ridiculous stuff together from some traddy pamphlet. What I am surprised at is that nobody in the congregation seems to stand up to him – either by telling him he is wrong, or by walking out. I would. There are times when you have to stand up and confront such evil nonsense being spouted by someone who patently has not got a clue. I do hope that Egan his bishop will have him in and give him the once over. Or show him the door.

You can purchase her memoir, “No longer Me.The true story of a young nun.” Dr. Reisinger points out dangerous dynamics within the Catholic Church saying there are so many stories like hers, stories of young idealistic people who experience spiritual abuse, exploitation, social isolation, control, and sexual assault in Catholic organizations, and their reporting complaints fall on deaf ears or inconsequential declarations of shock from church leaders.

Just googled Doris wouldn’t believe a word she say’s. Her allegation about the rape was dropped by an Austrian Court that she was having consensual sex with that ex priest. You’d believe anything against The Church and Doris is just yet an other ant-Catholic.

Jesus is not against gay relationships. Think of Cosmas and Damian or St John Henry Newman and his “friend.”
Jesus does not denounce love.

By the way Cindy Saints Cosmas and Damian were twin brothers, not as you say lovers!

All we know is that they suffered Martyrdom. It is only reputed by tradition that they were twins. Probably a Roman cover up.
How about Sergius and Bacchus?
Jesus condemned violence, oppression, cold-heartedness, and social injustice. Never once did Jesus refer to what we call homosexuality as a sin.
Many priests have boyfriends. Obviously they must also have a more open approach to the Catechism!
Many theologians find it tough to believe Jesus would reject their relationships on the grounds that all same-sex love is necessarily abominable.
Sex is just for pro creation? What if I’m seedless? Perhaps homosexuality is God’s way of population control.

You are mistaken. All that the Priest spoke is Truth, and all that he spoke has been taught and is Church teaching. The Truth is unchanging. Any form of sexual deviance is against God’s will. Sexual intimacy between a husband and a wife is Church teaching, and may not change. You ask, “Sex is just for pro creation?” Actually, “sex” is a biological fact that may be clear prior to birth, but is definitely clear once born. Sexual intimacy, according to Church teaching, is procreative and unitive. This is philosophically sound and incredibly profound. Rejoice for the Church calls all sinners to the Truth, and the Truth shall set us free!

This is a wonderful homily based on love and inclusion, Jesus does not want us to die in our sins and the good news is that Jesus has given us the power to overcome by His amazing grace. Friendship with Jesus is so amazing…

Magnificent Priest with a Bishop ignorant of Church teaching. Additionally, the author accuses the Priest of hate and intolerance, and then goes on to show his disdain and lack of tolerance toward priests from the continent of Africa, “…they bring with them cultural baggage about things like sexual orientation and gender..Occasionally, because of a background in poverty…” My goodness, this magnificent Priest has no hate in him–he is feeding the sheep who are in need of one thing–Truth. Do not fall for the 60s lies. Truth is unchanging — preaching it from the pulpit is an act of love, mercy, and hope for all to turn from our sin, confess, repent, repair, and heal. God’s blessings upon all seeking Truth!
