This is a text message sent to Carole from Ger Fitzgerald.

I have been called much more than a creep in my time, and it’s water off a duck’s back.

BUT NOTICE GER’S THINKING

“In this case, I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong except act in an immoral manner” !!!

WHAT !!!

Ger is claiming that he has not broken canon law as he has only been immoral!

ONLY BEEN IMMORAL!

Is one of the main obligations on every Christian the obligation to be moral and not immoral?

And is the obligation not to be immoral, not a greater obligation on priests and bishops who have taken promises and vows of celibacy and chastity.

You couldn’t make it up.

Ger is saying: “I should not be punished. I’ve ONLY been immoral!

Is an RC priest not supposed to be a moral exemplar?

Is a priest not supposed to practice the RC morality he preaches?

Is being moral not at the centre and essence of what a priest is supposed to be?

DOES GER’S STATEMENT MEAN THAT MANY PRIESTS AND BISHOPS DO NOT REGARD BEING MORAL AS IMPORTANT?

We have already seen that Ger has designated Fintan a “COWARD”.

Now, in this newly released comment from Ger to Carole, we see Ger claiming that Yvonne has Fintan wrapped around her finger.

That’s not giving Fintan much credit for having any intelligence or cop on.

GET THREATENING FINTAN WITH AN INJUNCTION

Ger then goes on to threaten to take Fintan to court if he dares to apologise to Yvonne and says he will get an injunction against Fintan if he dares to issue such an apology.

Obviously, Fintan sees that Ger has serious psychosexual / emotional problems.

As a bishop, he has a duty of care for Ger and a duty to get him appropriate help.

Ger obviously opposed going to the residential treatment centre in Canada, and non residential therapy was agreed on.

One of the most important ways to make sure that your therapy is successful is to be absolutely open with your therapist.

But Ger never told the therapist he was seeing that he us now involved with another woman – Carole.

Not being open and honest in therapy is a sure way of it not working.

Recently, someone claimed that Fintan had already paid € 5000 on Ger’s therapy.

Is it working? Is it money well spent?

Pat, I think you know that the vast majority of clerics act with greater intelligence, moral perspectives, Christian charity and integrity than this priest. At this stage of this drama, we need to pray for all characters in the hope that TRUTH may prevail and that all who are hurt will find some healing. The narratives are bizarre. I cannot believe that Ger woukd send a text like this…And Carole is enjoying the humiliation of a once hoped for new lover!!!

@ 9:24 The screenshot message also proves that Ger cannot accept responsibility for his actions towards Yvonne. “She’s getting away Scott free…no recriminations, nothing.” What exactly does he think she did wrong?? She’s not a priest…he is the priest, he chased her for around 6 months, had sex with her and then started ghosting her. He had the wool pulled over Yvonne’s eyes as well as my own. I believed Ger’s words were Gospel truth because he is a priest. Call me naïve, but I have always been brought up to believe that a priest functions as a moral authority and tells the truth. Welcome to the real world—a harsh wake up call.

The truth is that every, single cleric is constrained from all you boast by his ordination promise or vow. He chose not the yoke of Christ, but the shackles of episcopal obedience: a homage to mere men, sinners.

I would predict two future scandals which haven’t really happened yet:
1. We’ve heard of priests using drugs but we will hear of church ownership and involvement in drug supply, probably in South America.
2. Church shares in a drug firm making emergency contraception in Germany has already happened but I think we’ll hear of the church owning and running an actual abortion clinic.
Why?
Because the rules are notably ignored and there’s no reason they would keep these. ‘Good’ priests and laity are the stooges, the respectable front and need to wake up to what they’re supporting.
And another thing – I’ll guarantee you the Vatican has investments in Russia so is funding war crimes. I will cease to think this is when the church publishes open accounts of where all its funds are.

I find it unbelievable that the CREEP Fitzgerald is still receiving a salary as well as money being spent sending him for therapy! When this scandal broke he should have got a severe belt of the crozier, his faculties removed forthwith and dismissed. And in today’s world, where sexual mores are collapsing all around the Western world, it’s the epitome of hypocrisy for people to call out the actions of others simply because they have been exposed.

The RC church would hold us to the highest of standards – preach at us how to conduct ourselves sexually, damage our young men and women by telling them that they are sinning gravely by doing something that is perfectly natural and possibly healthy; further damaging us by telling us and our children that we are intrinsically disordered if our sexuality doesn’t fit an outmoded and restrictive notion of what sexuality and marriage is and what it can’t be.
That these men would fall from Grace is forgivable – that many of them cynically exploit their access and privilege and live lives at variance to what they ‘preach’ is monumentally hypocritical and sinful. Laicise them all I say. Pull the whole rotten and corrupt edifice down around them.

If you Google Ger’s name you get this blog on the first page so any woman is warned about him.
What the church hasn’t reckoned with all through the abuse crisis and still now, is that knowing the truth allows people to see them for what they are and make choices. They’ve still got a fortress mentality going on and can’t deal with the way the world sees them.
They still haven’t dealt adequately with child abuse and meanwhile people continue to walk from the scam.

He’d be well advised to take the offer of residential therapy. It’s difficult when everyone around you is saying there’s a problem but you don’t see it – residential is an opportunity to rethink. Because when he’s out of the priesthood he won’t be able to afford it in the future if his life continues in this trajectory.
Pro tip: humans keep doing the same things and end up in the same mess unless something changes.

The message written to Carole was a message from an irate man. It in no way excuses the way he wrote about +Pat. The blog stories at time that provoked that irate reaction should have been water off a ducks back. A blog focussed on corruption and/or hypocrisy wasn’t going to be giving him an easy time. (The Buddhists really do have a great time of it!)
The bishop comes out of today’s blog story smelling of roses. The message offers an insight that the bishop was compassionate towards the Yvonne woman who was trying to entice a priest away from his ministry.
Yvonne and Carole appear to be intelligent women. They have not fallen off the back of a lorry. They always had complete freedom to say no and to walk away. GF also had those choices to make.
I have met some women who feel unlucky in love. Their recent partners had wanted their relationships to progress in a certain way. The women didn’t feel it was right for them. Their partners ended the relationships. I have sympathy for these women I speak of. They thought they had met genuine guys. The guys intentions turned out to be shallow.

Carole, you are correct. But Ger’s difficulties have more than one cause – they have several. To start with Ger obviously got shamed at school (was it a catholic school?) Then the criterion for discernment of the feral clans in charge of seminaries is nothing more than a superficial show of “enthusiasm” or running off at the mouth. Probable minuscule inflammations or convulsions will exacerbate this.
But medical science has decided to ignore and not remedy his symptoms. Then Cleo and Fintan being mere corporate figments, have no sense of responsibility. They are out to merely play one element in the neighbourhoods mentioned against another: the material dialectic pursued by JP II.

Ger was involved with more dubious activities (not involving me) besides supplying me with cannibas. I think Carole totally misread her relationship with Ger. He saw her as a mother figure who looked after him. Carole saw that they had a lot in common and that Ger would go out of his way to spend time with her and thought that she had one last chance at love. Ger was shocked when Carole revealed her feelings and rather than sit down and talk things through with her he ghosted her causing Carole immense hurt and pain. Carole obviously still loves Ger cos if she didn’t she would have moved on and found someone more worthy of her affections. I don’t think featuring Carole in the blog is doing her any favours. You’ll probably bin this Pat but I feel honour bound to post.

I don’t believe a canon lawyer would actually say to someone in his position that he’s done absolutely nothing wrong. So either the lawyer is as bent as he is, he’s misunderstood, he wasn’t listening, or his canon lawyer is inside his own head.

Pat, you know me well. I am still an active priest. I know of a lot of colleagues that speak of you like this. But they are the ones with things to fear, which makes what you do even more right

You can almost hear Ger’s sighing with relief when he typed that remark about his canon lawyer’s telling him that he had done nothing wrong… except act in an immoral manner. It’s evidence that the institutional Church regards Canon Law more highly than moral law and, accordingly, any breaches of the former as much more reprehensible.

I actually find it quite disturbing that a grown man in a position of trust is reliant on someone else to tell him whether what he did was wrong and in what way. It suggests he has no moral sense at all and may simply act on impulse.
If a member of any profession messed up I would expect them to have an idea of where they stood without having to be told.

Crackpots run the RC therapy centres. Priests should be sent to secular therapy centres which don’t blend fairy tales with psychology.

Canon lawyers are not real lawyers. They go off to Rome or Leuven for two years and learn ‘arguments’ in parrot-fashion form for exam purposes. They never have to apply the law to a particular set of facts or interpret it in a given situation. Real lawyers do a law degree, a postgraduate diploma in legal practice and then two years as a trainee before qualifying. They are then supervised for at least another three years. The standards at pontifical universities are exceedingly low. I suspect canon law practitioners are akin to those who administer sharia law in the local mosque.

12.48: People don’t generally get compensation for falling out of love or for making very foolish decisions. All participants in this sorry, shameful saga have hurt one another in different ways. It seems to me that these liaisons were, from the beginning, unstable and manipulative. They were emotionally fraught and we see the horror of betrayal, mistrust, jealousy, immaturity, infidelity to sacred vows, deep hurt, vengeance and a desire for retributation. I understand all emotions but surely it doesn’t require a PhD in psychology to discern that all this playing around with emotions was/is conducive to the outcome which we witness, deeply unhappy, confused and broken people. I do not know any of the persons involved but all of them need professional help to try in some way, to focus on their own health and emitional wellbeing. As any therapist will tell you, we need occasionally, when in trauma, to calm down, take a deep breath, assess and try to navigate a better way forward out of our chaos. Carole and Yvonne, you have both been very hurt and I hope you can regather your lives in one piece again. Ger too needs to be walked into a rehab to find his reality and truth. I wish all of you well.

Sadly the Laity of Killaloe Dioceses will be left with bills for Counselling and more so Canon Lawyers.
Do not be fooled Canon Lawyers do not get paid of course they do and when the cases hit Rome there are massive bills although it is all inhouse the Dioceses need to pay.
The Dioceses have NO money it is the laity that has the money it is the lately that pays.
The Laity of Down and Connor pay for the upkeep of the Oratory Larne as it belongs to the Dioceses.

I think it’s very regrettable and unprofessional, that when people’s difficulties, illnesses, personal medical diagnoses and psychological issues are referenced, there’s a belief that we should be allowed use or misuse that information against people. There’s been a delivery of very private information placed on this blog which is a crossing of moral and ethical standards. There are very loose rules or codes of conduct on this blog. To believe people (church) didnt know about these things well before Ger came into spotlight would be naive. This poses further questions not about this man but about the institutuon. It can often be difficult to ascertain who actually is victim/persecutor?

It’s ironic Ger, 12 months later approx from that faithful day that this message in particular of your attitude presents itself to the universe. Maybe it’s a sign, maybe not.
What have you gained from in the last 12 months, what have you lost ? what have you learned ? Have your issues, denial , childishness, lies helped ? Did it help your situation.
Maybe now is the time to decide what it’s important and decide what matters most to you most in life and start making those changes.
if the last last is any example is that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.
It takes a good person to admit they were wrong, it takes a strong person apologize.
