STOLEN WATERFORD € 70,000 REPORTED TO GARDA AND IRISH CHARITIES REGULATOR.

Phonsie

On Thursday I reported the diocese of Waterford and Lismore to the Garda and the Irish Charities Regulator.

Waterford is registered as Charity Number 20010751.

The Regulator has the power to investigate any irregularities with regard to a charity’s funds.

It also has the power to investigate misbehaviour or failure of duty on behalf of the charity’s trustees

FEEDBACK

*** I have been informed that the Garda in Waterford have already begun an investigation.

Therefore we must be circumspect about how much we say.

ALPHONSUS CULLINAN, as bishop,  is the senior trustee of this charity.

He is also the one who is accused of keeping the theft of the € 70,000 from the authorities and allowing the priest to pay the money back  secretly over a 14 year period.

THE € 17,700 IN GER FITZGERALD’S BANK ACCOUNT.

EMAIL TO CLARE CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT

Dear Chief Superintendent Colleran,

I am corresponding with you about a possible serious matter in your division.

Am amount of € 17,700 was sitting in a bank account belonging to the Reverend Ger Fitzgerald of Ennis, currently residing at Xxxxxxx Xxxxxx Limerick.

A close friend of Rev Fitzgerald – a Mr Xxxxx  Xxxxxx currently residing at Sixmilebridge Co. Clare- telephone number 087 90 XXXXXX – claims that the money does not belong to Rev Fitzgerald but to another party.

Mr Xxxxxx says that he has given all the information about this money to Bishop Fintan Monahan of Ennis.

My Xxxxxx claims that the money is no longer in the Rev Fitzgerald’s account.

I have no idea where the money currently is.

It is my hope that Bishop Monahan has informed the Garda of this situation?

My fear is that the money might be the proceeds of crime?

Sincerely yours,

(Bishop) Pat Buckley

I’ve also been informed that the Garda looking into this matter.

PAT SAYS

Very often on this blog we concentrate on the sexual scandals and corruptions in the RCC.

But we must never forget that financial corruption is at least as common as sexual corruption in the RCC. In fact financial corruption may be even more common.

We have the two cases above under consideration currently.

In Down and Connor some time ago Fr ConlethByrne was convicted of giving a woman £ 145,000 from the parish of Loughlinisland.

He was given a suspended sentence and went to live in Portglenone Cistercian Monastery.

Fr Byrne died earlier this month. RIP.

There have been many cases of priests around the globe stealing small and very large sums of church money.

Pat, do you expect any Gardai authority to believe your story or to examine the said monies in accounts mentioned? Aside from any issues of illgotten money or misappropriation of money from parish accounts, do you believe you have a right to do what you are doing, considering it’s third party information you’re relying on? There will always be thieves where money is not properly accounted for. I know that and three of the worst cases of theft I ever witnessed and discovered were by non clerics: schools and parishes. Horrendous theft over a period of years. Gardai were informed…and charges brought against perpetrators. All money in any priests account is now traceable and when completing revenue forms for tax, all income and expenditure has to be given to your accountant. Our tax files are subject to revenue auditing which I’ve had done twice in 46 years. Also, if a priests receives a gift/legacy/donation, this must be made known to your accountant. Usually in receipt of a legacy gift of money a form has to be signed acknowledging receipt of money and you are morally obliged to forward this information to your accountant.

It’s a priest torn between wanting to make out everyone has their hands in the till and wanting to make out it can’t happen, 8:27. Their increasingly desperate posturing as the facade crumbles, is very funny indeed.

You don’t need an accountant to file a tax return, false rubbish. Self assessment can be done by one self.

Like

8:46am Well Said – false rubbish is right – I’ve come to the conclusion since finding this blog that clergy literally have someone to wipe their bum for them at every turn. Teams of sheep to do everything. No doubt they also have accountants to fill in forms – God Forbid doing a bit of paperwork would eat into their time for all their Grinder time & extra curricular activities. 10:08 makes me laugh – since when did RCC do anything they were “morally” obliged to do, they sometimes even foster close relationships with law to circumvent being held to account.

8.29 I agree 💯
Fitzgerald claimed I was a druggie and that I have a dealer , in messages to others, I have all the proof, even though I don’t take drugs, certainly don’t have a dealer and he knows damn well I don’t.
Ironic for it to come out he has acquired UNAUTHORISED funds illegally that he had to give back and he has been buying drugs for other people and illegally taking valume from parishioners. Proof of all this too at my diposal. Hes at himself all along.
he is a despicable disgraceful man, he has lost alot of associates and close friends over he’s behaviour and attitude regarding this situation over the last 12 months.
You see people’s true colours when there backs are up against the wall.

10:28 telling lies about others to suit their own agenda has always been a well used modus operandi of priests & their pets & cronies. Just look at the load of tosh Fr Ger Fitzgerald c/o Killaloe Diocese fed the newspapers years ago when they were covering up for Maynooth. His clerical & lay cronies might be scattering in all directions now like scalded rats because as you & Carole have shown, he is clearly and completely publicly proven to be lacking in any credibility whatsoever. It doesn’t change what they did or are though, well able to stick boot in any opportunity they know they can get away with it, leopards don’t change their spots. So this is how it works. The parish priest has the parish card. He goes to the supermarket, fills up his trolley, doesn’t even look at the prices, and it’s always brand names. Also, the booze goes into the trolley. There is no budget – all expenditures are listed in the accounts as housekeeping. He also has access to the Sunday collection and skims off what he wants for restaurants, pubs and maybe the odd sauna visit. He regularly receives crispy handshakes and no thought of declaring that as income as they are ‘gifts’. The crafty ones inveigle themselves into the lives of the elderly and lonely in the hope of receiving a legacy under their Will. He never has to worry about the cost of living, Council tax and energy bills as they are all paid for by him. His salary pays for his frequent holidays to warm destinations and stylish lay clothes. It’s all one big con, and there is zero financial accountability for RC priests. Also, they blow a gasket when visiting Indian and African priests muscle in and try to solicit funds directly from parishioners.

My wife was quite pushy and went up to see the card when it was presented for payment at the till. How many parishes have finance councils? If they do, it’s usually the PP and a couple of his cronies. Is a parish Council going to stop a PP from going near the collection plate? I was slipped an envelope with 5k through the confessional and told it was for the ‘priests training fund’. I handed it to the PP and said a reference to the anonymous donation should be made in the bulletin. I may have got away with pocketing it.

No he has NOT resigned as he thinks he is still innocent and thinks this is a witch hunt.
Bishop Fintan can only ask or advise him to consider resigning but that does not look like happening.
Bishop Fintan will need to take both Ger and Jerry through the Canonical process so both stay on the payroll.
You cannot give Character References is they are not accurate so both will struggle to get references.

The second any of them resign they will be removed immediately from the diocesan web site.

what would you put in a reference – failed to live a celibate life? Hardly pertinent information for a lay job. Lets be fair about this – many people have one night stands, bitter ex-girlfriends, dysfunctional relationships. Even rumours about weed are not relevant as I suspect in the real world someone on most interview boards will have smoked a joint. If it is one thing you learn in ministry, it is that the world is full of people struggling – but as a lay person Ger is still entitled to earn a living. In truth the biggest difference between Ger and others is that hitherto he has ministered in public therefore we think know his specific failings. The reality is that work places are full of people with similar failings, affairs, recreational drug use, dysfunctional behaviours etc etc etc. Nobody is perfect.

Holy Goat, I have disagreed strenuously with you recently. In this instance, I’m in full agreement. In an Ireland where adultery and other forms of sexual promiscuity are everyday occurrences, this blog’s readership expects clergy, especially the younger ones, not to be affected by the culture they were born and reared in.
I would suspect the more loudly, the more vociferously and the more disgustingly that readers comment here about priests and bishops, the more likely it is they are projecting their own lifestyles onto them and seeking to create scapegoats of them. In short, we ourselves can prostitute ourselves on a daily basis, but we expect our clergy to be as white as the driven snow and when they are not, well just take up the blog and read.

@12:22 Interesting that Fr. Ger Fitz hasn’t resigned yet he has been sending out his CV to potential employers—he sent me a copy of it once by email. I wonder if Fintan knows about Fr. Ger using character references from his own Parish office? Did Fintan give his consent? 🧐

Ger Fitzgerald’s thinking it seems is that he is a victim of this blog and it is only one side of the story that we all know through this blog.
It maybe immoral but there is nothing in Canon Law to stop him being a Priest it is the case that Bishop Fintan does NOT want him in the Diocese of Killaloe but some clergy are standing by Ger.
Jerry Carey thinks after his counselling that he should be on the appointments list in June to take effect from September but it seems again Bishop Fintan is saying No but Jerry has his fan club and that includes clergy so it will be down to Bishop Fintan.
Bishop Fintan has shockingly to use Canon Law against Ger and Jerry and hopefully it will come out on Bishop Fintan’s favour as Ger and Jerry are NOT walking away.

5:59pm Bullshit, neither of them would pass Police Vetting – an essential requirement for role of priest & school Chaplin – by their own knowing & deliberate actions, they have both knowingly made themselves unfit for office – in the real world that means instant dismissal without grounds for appeal. If a teacher was arrested for public exposure & engaging in a lewd act in a public place, they’d not work in a school again yet Carey was listed as school Chaplin until recently. These 2 priests must have friends in very high places indeed, how can they have more authority than Bishop & priests that are lobbying for Carey & Fitzgerald should be urgently identified as they are effectively condoning the wrongdoing carried out by Carey & Fitzgerald.

@5:59 Let’s talk about suicide awareness. Fr. Ger knew about Y.‘s suicide attempt and laughed it off in a message to me. When I told him about my own suicidal thoughts due to his callous treatment of me, he ignored the msg and next day went out to cafe with his lady friend even though he had said to me that he was sick. Ger claims that he is responsible for organising a fundraising project for suicide awareness in Ennis (2020). I am appealing to the non-clergy who read this blog: Please do not let Fr. Ger be involved with suicide awareness projects! He has no empathy for the women that he has hurt…the very same women who have struggled with their mental health because of the toxic effects of his behaviour towards them. I realise that Ger’s narcissistic personality prevents him from feeling any empathy towards the women he has hurt, but in all fairness, he should not be involved with suicide awareness projects when he himself ignores and gaslights women who feel suicidal.

No one is saying that Ger and Jerry should not make a living, far from it as they are entitled to make a living.
However Ger has decided to cling on and take the Dioceses of Killaloe to a canonical Trail that costs thousands and his victim will be asked to come and give evidence.
Ger and Jerry should walk away they know fine it costs thousands for trails and more so if it has to go to Rome.
They want to hang on to their salaries for as long as they can and it may take years but it is their choice.
Surely they must know there is NOT a Parish or Ministry in the RCC that they could be appointed to.
Yes they are entitled to work for a living but they should man up and walk away.

“Mr Parish told BBC South West that he watched adult material twice in the Commons, admitting “I was not proud of what I was doing”.
Looking visibly emotional, the farmer said the first time was accidental while looking at tractors on the internet.
He said he then “got into another website with a very similar name,” adding: “I watched it for a bit, which I shouldn’t have done.”

The MP has resigned and his career is over, yet the ex-PP of Pomeroy, Rory, Fr McCamley and Fr Jerry the beach wanker all sail on, with two of them back in a parish, Rory has a flat and job in London and Jerry is still a priest. This is even though they did much worse than the MP and also were sexual morality arbiters, unlike the MP. It’s a farce.

@8.03pm To be fair to the MP he claims he was only looking at tractors being an ex farmer.

Need to be a bit circumspect here but loughiniskand is not the only parish in Down and Connor where money regularly “goes missing”

So let’s get this clear.
We’ve got one commenter (3:09) complaining some priests aren’t mentioned but not mentioning them.
And another commenter (1:03) talking about wanting Robert Nugent not to be talked about.
Catholic education is probably the next big scandal. 😱

If there is proven to be some fault in accounts. Perhaps all diocesan trust funds past and presrnt should be forensically checked as i believe these monies are given by the ordinary faithful for the good of the community and should be aware where their good hard earned money goes to
I am so disillusioned with the church hearing about all the sex when a vow of celibacy is taken. What worries me is that you must be telling the truth as the church prelates would have taken you to task for damaging the reputation of the church. Is it all a farce and it is better for one to say a prayer with a dear friend and carry out good works in gods nane.

It might be a comment on the JP2 and onward saint manufacturing that Pope St Pius V only canonised one saint and his own cause took years. The process now, in part due to rule changes under Paul VI and JP2, lacks rigour. The advocatus diaboli was essential as he asked whether the various achievements and efforts of a saint be a result of simple human ambition. Another support for a rigorous was simply to allow time to pass. Does a cultus last? A good many of these new saints have no actual cultus, but almost every Pope of V2 has to be canonised for holy politics. The only one not is the very personable JP1, who became Pope when relatively young and fairly healthy, and who was quite possibly murdered. There are a few theories (https://www.pillarcatholic.com/p/was-pope-john-paul-i-murdered?s=r suggests Cardinal Baggio as a suspect). The traditional date for St Pius V, that is, until 1969 was 5th May, next Thursday, but 30th May is not a bad day either. Presumably May Day is for St Joe the Workman.

We seem to have a strange situation in Keady, Fr Mc Cann has been gone for 3 weeks now.
We were told he was isolating due to covid but its a long isolation.
My cousin requested him for a funeral but the reply was a little on the rare side!
Hopefully he recovers fully from Covid🙏.

How is “call me Father please” McKeever in Keady? I hear Miss McCamley misses the place so much he sneaks back there.

I never seen a parish like Dungannon; it accommodates the come-back priests. There are more changes than the leadership of the DUP. Curates coming and going like it’s going out of fashion. But I think priest ought to be able to have a normal married life. It is shocking that Dungannon, the Deanery of Armagh has two priests and 4 churches.

Bishop Pat, I hear your big friend Sammy Wilson DUP is afraid to go door to door here in Carrick. The votes here are shifting towards the TUV and Sammy has faced a backlash. Sure Sammy’s party wouldn’t be bothered with the likes of you or me.

I was ringing an elderly priest friend in Waterford from our Seminary days together and I am from beyond the Pale. In light of your blog, I asked him how Phonsie was getting on? His simple reply was that Buckley has put him on the ball of malt.

Knowing Pat’s style of operating I would say Pat knows more about the €70k but is keeping his powder dry for now.

I wouldn’t stoop to such profanity or vulgarity as your name suggests @10.08pm. However, in horse racing terms “you are on the nose” regarding Pat Buckley.

Thanks, MMM, for that BBC Four recommendation. Depressing, but necessary.
Please, never, ever, allow your child to be alone with a romanist priest: he will either kiddie-fiddle the child, or, under Canon Law, will protect those who do.

Anon @ 10:25. Yes, at times depressing in showing the complete failures of RC senior clerics to show an understanding of the harm done to children by abusing clerics. Their mindset, largely misinformed by utterly simplistic misunderstanding of the damage of abuse to children, and an overriding naive desire to “protect” the RC institution, was well portrayed.
The courage and conviction of the victims shone through, but I have to wonder at the other victims: those too damaged or insecure to speak out.

From my understanding Fitzgerald was creating obstacles for the diocese once it came out, He was not taking responsibility, then he started pulling sick notes, preventing Fintan from being able to deal with him effectively, yet while Fitzgerald tried to attend an UNAUTHORISED farewell mass and after party in he’s honour while pulling sick notes, Monaghan found out about it at last minute and shut it down lively.
Then Fitzgerald was still in denial and slightly delusional regarding the caliber of the situation and he’s behaviour by trying to celebrate a guards Mass , god rest this man’s soul. Which Fintan denied him that privelage and rightly so.
All the while Fitzgerald is calling Monaghan a coward behind he’s back, these ladies druggies, deranged and insane, sluts and threats..etc ..
Then Fintan denied Fitzgerald the honour of celebrating he’s own father’s mass just recently. I think the penny has finally fucking dropped for Fitzgerald.
Fintan is far from impressed with him and wants him gone.
After everything this man has said and done to tarnish our reputations and all that we endured. If Fitzgerald and he’s friends , the very few he has left are looking for sympathy, they are preaching to the wrong choir on here.
My balls are alot bigger than he’s faith and there’s nothing ‘snakey ‘ about the truth.
Night folks, have a blessed weekend 🙂

what has been going on behind closed doors in the diocese is not an accurate reflection of what happens with gossip in the public and what Fitzgerald has been disclosing to he’s friends. I think now people are finally starting to realize that. The truth always comes out on the end, the wheel keeps turning …

It wasn’t an unauthorized Mass, it was booked and paid for in the church office for my mothers anniversary. There wasn’t a farewell Mass nor a farewell party, just a few neighbours who wanted to say goodbye to Ger.
Fintan pulled the mass with 2 hours to go, when my family all over the world were due to log in on the webcam.
Fintan himself had then promised to say the mass which the Whelan family appreciated but then he pulled it
Facts would be appreciated, and not maybe bullshit that you heard about
There was NOT a farewell Mass, it was my mothers anniversary Mass!
As a family we are absolutely enraged that Finatan cancelled our mothers mass in our parish and was paid for

@ 9:22 No, there wasn’t a farewell party for Fr. Ger. According to his own words, May 2, 2021, 00:58 “There was a BIG protest rally tonight in Cloughleigh… if ever there was a Trump moment, it was tonight..it was beautiful to see it even if I couldn’t be there…” Does it surprise anyone that Fintan cancelled Ger’s Masses? Ger talked about his fantasy of driving into Cloughleigh and being given a hero’s welcome by throngs of his adoring supporters whilst simultaneously Village People’s YMCA song blasts out in the background. A quote for Ger: “When all else fails, there’s always delusion” 😎

Fitzgerald has caused an awful lot of hurt to alot of people with he’s actions and behaviour that he still doesn’t seem to take responsibility for.
I sincerely suggest he sit down and have a long hard look at he’s reflection in the mirror 🪞🪞🪞

Tina i can’t take credit for the mass cancellation unfortunately, wasnt aware it was happening that day, and it was an after party I have seen text messages afterwards from Fitzgerald. Monaghan had hes reasons and he is entitled to do so, he wouldn’t make that call unless it was necessary, it was hardly cancelled just to piss you off, get over yourself.

Fitzgerald has nobody to blame but himself for he’s choices in life that led up to that point.

Unfortunate timing for your mass but these things happen, that’s life…

I’m unsure what happened after that as I was sitting in the guard station making a statement under the dioceses instructions regarding your son’s death threats after my family from all over the country inundated the guards with calls regarding that fact …

Tom Ryan gave he’s blessing for your mothers mass next day.

It’s far from over yet girl between Fitzgerald me and the diocese, far from it !

Yes a sense of entitlement from Fr Fitzgerald and Whelan. They have alot in common both use devious tactics but get others to do it for them. Looking for a pitty party as its always about them.
