Retired San Diego bishop Robert Brom died yesterday. He was accused of homosexual predation as well as covering up clerical sex abuse.

San Diego’s current bishop, Robert McElroy, praised Brom in a press release, calling him “a pastor, teacher and servant leader.”

But Brom is also remembered as a bishop who covered up for clerical sex abuse. Even worse, he is accused of being a “sexual predator,” even a “rapist.”

Brom related facts to me in his private office that he baldfaced denied during his deposition where he had 8 lawyers at his behest. Brom’s history is laid out sufficiently on this Web (C.f. Search this Site). Brom was credibly accused of abusing a seminarian who shouted in the lawyer’s office where Brom made a $120,000 settlement, “You know, Bob, you raped me”. In 2002 the USCCB committee appointed Brom to oversee fellow bishops who failed to meet norms for protection of children from clerical abuse despite this and other contra indications of suitability.

Under Employment Law they are entitled to 28 days and the Public Holidays.
It says in Canon Law that a Priest should say Holy Mass daily but now most of them do not as they take their day off so it is a career to them.

Nice to see Glasgow RC Cathedral re-open outside of Mass times for 4 days a week at long last. From today, the Cathedral will be open from 9.30am each morning for private visits and prayer. It will close after the last Mass of the day – ie 6pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and 2pm Tuesday-Thursday. Shame for workers that it isn’t opened earlier/closed later. Still no Confessions unless booked – that will just put people off. Isn’t it time for all Churches to return to normal? No consistency.

I asked for a sabbatical in 2008….Brady asked me why…I told him I had reached the point of dread…with his cynical grimace he asked me ” What’s that ?” I explained to his spiritual ignorance Thomas Merton s thinking on the matter. The last straw was Eamonn Martin during a phone call in July 2018..no care from those fellows.. NONE. Priestly Ministry is full of privileges…..built on the centuries of respect and trust that people have for priests in this country…..it is a lovely way to be with people….it is also the most warped relationship on the island of Ireland. To cut the chase….my problems ( as everybody has) are now my very own….the ownership people feel entitled to is not my problem any more….neither the disinterest of bishops in this priests life no longer bothers me. Much to ministry I miss …..and yes I am glad I am gone….the management of the multinational is putrid…..Rome and local Curia. Newchurch “nuns” in Ireland are not absolved from dastardly immorality, as the “nuns” of Our Lady of Good Help, have been accused of throwing 800 dead babies into a septic tank. When Newchurch tried to deny the charge, a witness stated that the babies’ remains can still be seen “floating around in a sewage tank.” Irish Newarchbishop Francis Duffy virtually confirmed the truth of the charge. Traditional Catholics, it is remarkable that the Irish wing of the pseudo-traditionalist Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) and Institute of Christ the King (ICR) have said nothing about the gross immorality. Why should they? They are not Traditional Catholics. They are in the pocket of the apostate Newchurch of the New Order and genuflect to the apostate Newpope Francis-Bergoglio. These immoral groups should be entirely shunned by true Catholics as utter fakes and traitors to the Catholic religion.

Slightly interesting as they take Pope Paul VI as the sede starting point, instead of John XXIII. Despite the language and its terrible and archaic web design (perhaps they see this as truly traditionalist, plus I heard some who contacted them found them really hostile), it is a impious that a hospital with a Catholic ethos is to host one where abortion and trooning out will be available. Pat, I have a theory. I believe that one priest gets more joy from this blog than the rest. This may not be very PC, but I am actually sick of poor people complaining and wanting money from nowhere. Work harder; get a better job, educate yourself, budget; learn to cook, wear clothes to keep warm. Plenty of things they could be doing to better handle their finances.

I suppose Last Rites are clearly meant. Last Rites is the overall term which can include Confessions, Communion and anointing, what would be now called the Sacrament of the Sick. If he is indeed so close to his end that he has received Extreme Unction, we should pray for him.
