ANTI GAY LARNE PREACHER IS CHARGED.

Businessman Ryan Williamson, 44, regularly preaches against homosexuality in messages he delivers across NI and the Republic of Ireland.

Police were called to investigate claims he was committing hate speech in Larne on 10 August last year. However when approached by police, he refused to stop preaching and was arrested for disorderly behaviour.

His case came before Ballymena Magistrates Court yesterday, where his solicitor entered a not guilty plea. The case is adjourned until 20 May, to fix a date for a trial.

I have no problem with people preaching even if I do not agree with what they are saying.

We call that free speech.

But these speakers were using equipment that was greatly exceeding the allowed public decibels and it was causing a major disturbance.

And I object to them bawling out that;

All homosexuals were going to hell.

And

Disabled children were a curse from God.

As a 37 year priest resident of Larne I felt I had the obligation to publicly challenge their hate speech.

To date no one in Larne has disagreed with my challenge.

Some of these preachers were also ex prisoners with a hatred for the PSNI.

One of the ones arrested had 150 convictions

Father Rupert Allen, formerly of the Norbertines, presently of Clifton Diocese will be leaving the diocese in Oxford to join the Oxford Oratory because he wants to say Latin mass. This has resulted in the permanent closure of our parish and has left Bristol University Catholic Chaplaincy in peril as the bishop struggles to find a replacement chaplain.
Father Allen will be the third priest to leave over their selfish desire to say an antiquated form of mass. There are rumours suggesting that two other priests will leave soon: one for the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest and the other is of a religious order and plans to serve in another diocese.

God bless him. Nothing selfish. Thanks to the foolish, contradictory and badly written Traditionis Custodis, diocesan priests are no longer allowed to offer the traditional Mass by so many bishops. Yet the new Abp of Paris appointed by Pope Francis, and known to enjoy his confidence, was offering traditional confirmation in Lille just recently despite that being apparently against the subsequent Roche rules. The Oratory say the New Order of Mass so this priest was not moved by an aversion to the New Order of Mass. It likely is a situation where Fr Allen was not allowed to offer the traditional Mass at all. Anyhow, the Novus Ordo has done what no persecutor ever managed in destroying Catholic religious observance in Europe, including Ireland, or reduced it to an aging, shrinking minority.
It was the work of a huddle of academic priests, the Concilium, who between had not a single parish. Oratorian Fr Bouyer, co-creator with Dom Botte of EP2 (beloved of every Fr Flash), resigned from it despite pleas from Paul VI, severely regretted his work. This did happen in 1984 with Quattuor Abhinc Annos, but by then the TLM had been institutionally marginalised. What Benedict tried to do with Reform of the Reform was just decades too late, whereas if the two were calmly side by side in 1971, the distancing and animosity would not have happened. One of the less serious offences that the Courts hear for Public Order offences is a charge under Section 5 of the Public Order Act.  This is the offence of disorderly conduct.  If you are accused of this, the Police will need to prove that:

You have used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour;

Within the hearing or sight of somebody likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Peter Tatchall (gay rights campaigne) has said he objects to what these men preach. He said that their arrest in Larne was unjustified though in a quote to the Newsletter paper last year. He said they were not threatening anyone.

We had a similar issue in Limerick a few months ago. A bunch of male Bible nuts deliberately drowned out a peaceful vigil for that poor murdered girl from Offaly on Bedford Row. They were saying the Rosary and upped the volume. You could here them in Lahinch. They actually hijacked the vigil. Where do we get these cretins?

Todd @ 8.13am -Begorrah you had a sleep in today. I have never heard anybody say a disabled child or children are a punishment from God, but I have heard a disabled child (which happened in my sister-in-law’s case) is a GIFT from God which we all agreed with.

I guess you’re Catholic so would advise you to seek guidance from your PP and start reading the catechism because it sounds like you’re inadequately formed in the Faith.

Maybe they will be swallowed up by bigger dioceses – mind you Liverpool is an Archdiocese and it’s Mass going is 14000 (check out their accounts).

Those preachers were crackers, nuisances, embarrassments, devoid of charity. +Pat was well able for them, but if this had been a Moslem preaching the equivalent in Islam, there would’ve been no arrest. The police officers seemed poorly trained and over-emotional. A better police officer might asked the Ryan and co. to turn to stop using amplification, or some other de-escalation, instead of an arrest. Preachers of old could manage with own God given voices.
