The family of slain Kelly-Ann Corcoran are seeking answers from the Catholic Church about why killer husband Dermot McArdle was allowed to remarry in the church adjacent to the graveyard in which she rests.

A source close to the family has confirmed an intermediary had written to both the Archbishop of Armagh Eamon Martin and Pope Francis in Rome seeking clarification as to whether Church law was complied with in allowing the wedding at St Fursey’s Church, Co Louth.
The source described the decision to allow McArdle to remarry on the same consecrated ground where Kelly-Ann rests as “hugely concerning”.

PAT SAYS
What kind of bishop or priest allows allows a wife killer to marry a second wife when the first wife he killed is buried in the same church yard where the second marriage is taking place?
DEAD FIRST WIFE

What a thundering insult to the poor deceased first wife and her grieving family.
This case was referred to Eamon Martin and he stood over his decision.
Would he give the ho ahead to the wedding of a killer who had killed his sister or cousin?
Is EAMON MARTIN cruel and uncaring or just THICK?

120 replies on “AMY MARTIN MAJOR COCK UP ! WIFE KILLER MARRIED NEW WIFE IN CHURCH WHERE KILLED WIFE BURIED !!!”
But Pat, wouldn’t you have officiated if asked? Perhaps not in the named Church but would you have been celebrant if they came to you since you officiate at all kinds of relationships which seek blessings or the sacrament of marriage? What would make you refuse to do this wedding anywhere else? If a person has served their prison time for a crime, ate they not allowed new beginnings? I think this is a difficult dilemma. I don’t imagine that Archbishop Martin is “thick” or uncaring…It would be a difficult dilemma for any priest. What about the new wife’s requests?

Pat at 9:46 I think being truly repentant of murdering his wife would have suggested to him that he not be married in the church where her body was buried.
I see there are two churches in the parish so he wouldn’t even have had to explore other churches/register office/yourself.
This is a very clear indication that he doesn’t give a shit and of course neither does the church which loves murder and abuse.

Birds of a feather flock together, McArdle has the usual credentials to be a Church “insider”. He played on his Catholic faith in the murder trial. This wedding that Archbishop Martin & Fr Keenan allowed to take place in same churchyard where wife he murdered buried sends out a clear message to potential whistle blowers. Archbishop Martin facilitated McArdle to mock the first wife he murdered & their child & her family & friends. At the very least, the Archbishop could have insisted that McArdle marry in the second church available in the parish.

If you asked ten people whether it was a good idea to allow a man convicted of the manslaughter of his first wife in a church next to where the first wife was buried, then 10 out of 10 would say it was not a good idea. What is it, then, about the main protagonists in this case that led them to think that it was a good idea ? In the case of McArdle, it will be something along the lines of “I’ll show them”, an arrogance that wants to show that he has eventually overcome his crime and life is good for him. Two fingers to the world, in other words. The man seems to be abusive, angry and dangerous, and this episode is just an indication of the kind of character he is. In the case of the priest, Keenan, the same kind of arrogance is at play, but in this case it is the clerical arrogance imbued in him since his days in seminary where nothing or nobody can gainsay what a priest says, and a priest is unaccountable and his decisions cannot be second guessed. He will have done that all his priestly life, and he has done it here. He probably knows in his heart of hearts that it was not a great idea to do this wedding in that place, but something else will have been at play in his mind – “Fuck them”. He will have done this precisely to show that he can do what he wants, not matter what others think. In both cases the motivating energy for this episode will have been unbridled arrogance. Both need to be brought low, otherwise they will both continue to rampage through life trampling over people. The priest Keenan definitely needs to be humbled. Let’s see if Amy Armagh has the bollocks to do so. I doubt it, however. So + Pat, go head and shame and ridicule Keenan. He deserves it.

Explain to us as laymen terms why do priests have a choice 🤷♀️.
Perhaps u give us an example re priests does have a choice?
LikeLike
That choice that clergy do have is the nub of so much that appears on this blog.
Yesterday or the day before we were impressed by a man who obviously made the right choice to leave seminary.
Today by Pat taking ownership of making the wrong decision.
If you’re a priest of a religion which has notoriously covered up crime, misused money, tortured children, and you’re just sitting there doing nothing about it, you’re not a good priest.
If you agitate about it behind the scenes you will be punished and nothing will happen. If you agitate publicly you end up in Pat Buckley’s position.
So in reality if you are a priest you are complicit in the abuse, corruption and crime of the church and this is why there is no such thing as a good RC priest.
LikeLike
Deaf Guy, if you had an employer who was covering up crime, abuse, torture, and so on, what would you do?
It’s exactly the same choice.
Ultimately if your employers got a terrible reputation I think you would feel you had to leave so that the reputation didn’t extend to you, and you could truthfully put on your CV that you left because of the abuse and corruption in your firm and you didn’t want to be associated with it.
It is difficult for RCs because they are taught that their denomination is the only real one – another misuse of power because it means people feel they can’t leave and the church can get away with anything, and has.
The crunch there has to be where you look at the church/ your employer and decide that its bad behaviour outweighs its claim of doing any good.
That’s why so many comments here denigrate criticism of the church – every criticism, every time they hear the truth, pushes them closer to being forced to make the decision to leave. However many of them are determined not to leave, so the criticism pushes at their cognitive dissonance and drives them wild.
The real reason there are so few priests now is people have options and are more able to make their own decisions than they were decades ago.

Good Post 👏.
I’m just a layman, for starters or just be clear with you that rcc isn’t my employer.
Don’t want to have anything to do with rcc crimes nor want to be associated with rcc. Martel book got me thinking that these bishops who were gay thus have no faith in JC, just a careerist trip to another promotion.
Another issue is misuse of their priestly power whether is it a priest or a Bishop or a cardinal. I couldnt stand for any priest who support or sided with Bishop’s misuse of power. Kept seeing more and more examples of misuse of their powers without any due process to their own employees which is priests themselves. Examples of this are Bishop Toal on Despard, callahan on Altman, phonsie on Geoghan et al.
Yes people have options now, part of that arose from Covid lockdown which Catholics watched online and they aren’t willing to go back on the pews. They could turn off of they want to with a cuppa of tea at their whim.
One thing that might stop rcc at its tracks is money, less people on the pews less cash collection.
In knock where I visited few months ago, what astonished me was a number of contactless payments kiosks installed around the basicila as they have stopped taking cash. That wasn’t there during pre Covid.
Its obviously money(from installed kiosks) they are thinking of in rcc despite singer Susan Boyle donation to knock shrine.

I am appalled that this marriage ceremony should be celebrated in this church. Appalled. Just wonder what frame of mind must this man and woman have to make this most insensitive and hurtful decision. It is a most offensive decision and the priest ought to have insisted on a different, quieter ceremony and location. Please do not place all priests in the same category as Fr. Keenan. He has completely misjudged the issue. I certainly would have had great difficulty with this wedding for many reasons. I’m wondering if Pat invited the couple to Larne, would he have officiated if no priest agreed to do so?
