Pope Francis has named to the College of Cardinals a pro-gay ultra-progressive who turned a blind eye to sex abuse. Namely, the bishop of San Diego, Robert McElroy. McElroy has distinguished himself by supporting causes close to Pope Francis’s heart and by having a consistent opposition to the teaching of the Catholic Church in a number of areas. He objects to Church teaching on abortion, divorce and “remarriage,” homosexuality, and the priesthood, and was described by America’s Vatican correspondent as being, “recognized in Rome as a top expert on the social doctrine of the church.”
McElroy’s appointment must be a clear endorsement of the man and his agenda. But it is also a blatant snub to Archbishop Cordileone. This appointment is unthinkable and unworkable in any other papacy as San Diego is suffragan of Los Angeles. But Pope Francis has done worse. In 2017 he made an auxiliary bishop of San Salvador a cardinal while the archbishop was passed over. Absurd, but purposeful.
Back in 2019, McElroy caused murmurs among the bishops after he stood against the conference’ condemnation of abortion:
Rod Dreher links McElroy with a 2016 letter that Richard Sipe, the (now-deceased) psychotherapist and foremost expert on the sexual habits of the Catholic clergy, sent to him back in 2016. McElroy refused to meet with Sipe to discuss the contents which demonstrate he is deep in clergy abuse cover-up. So how can we say Pope Francis is serious about cleaning up abuse?
I don’t know what else you’d call this — Pope Francis naming the Church’s strongest and most outspoken progressive, San Diego Bishop Robert McElroy a Cardinal — other than a war on conservative Catholics, with whom the Holy Father already takes a very dim view.
Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego, one of Pope Francis’ ideological allies who has often sparred with more conservative U.S. bishops, was named by the pope on Sunday as one of 21 new cardinals.
The San Diego diocese said McElroy will be installed by Pope Francis on August 27 at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
Winning a cardinal’s hat doesn’t outrank the archbishop’s mitre but it does make one a prince of the Church — one of the few people with the power to elect the next pope until the age of 80. Given that McElroy is only 68, he may be in a position to do that.
The maneuver conspicuously bounces McElroy over the heads of two higher-ranking archbishops in potential contention for a cardinal’s hat — Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of the San Francisco archdiocese, who’s generally recognized as a conservative, and Archbishop José Gomez, of the Los Angeles archdiocese, who’s generally recognized as a moderate, and one who is believed to have wanted to become a cardinal. McElroy, on the other hand, is very progressive. He’s all in for illegal immigration to the states, global warming taxation, the LGBTQ agenda, women deacons, and giving out communion to elected officials who promote abortion through the power of lawmaking as well as cash shoveling to the abortion industrial complex. What a sad, sad rebuke to those Catholic leaders and their parishioners who try to follow Church law and doctrine.

I think it is true that Francis is the enemy of Catholic Trads and Conservatives.
But I think the Trads started it by being the outspoken enemies of Francis, Vatican II and the Novis Ordo.
The extreme ones have even said that Francis is not a valid pope.
I am not part of the RC institution and am under no obligation to to obey Francis and his RC fellow hierarches.
I do not even pray for Francis in the canon of the Mass.
But if one claims to be a loyal Roman Catholic one must accept Francis as pope and Vatican II as a full Ecumenical Council of the Church.
I think Francis is right to take on these Right Wingers.
If they don’t want to be a full part of the Church headed by Francis – let them go and found a new church for themselves.

I am reading with interest your pieces on the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore with some time now and what is happening there.
Right now there are many people wondering where some of the priests have gone. People don’t know where they are or what they are doing.
For a few years there was a Waterford and Lismore Diocesan Directory printed for a few years which I know was issued to the school’s in the diocese and maybe to Priest and pastoral councils. I do not know if the latter got a copy but I know School’s and Priests did.
Some weeks back I got my hands on a copy of the 2007 Directory and did some research.
There is 13 priests listed in it, who could still be working if it was their wish but are currently without a parish.
The 13 are (and I include their year of ordination which might give a rough idea of what age they might be now).

The O’Connell situation should never have reached where it has.
Henry should have known he was not suitable to celibacy and should not have sought priesthood.
What was his thinking?
Those concerned with his training should not have progressed him.
But it suited their agenda.
They may have been gay themselves – and indeed “used” Henry in some ways?
It’s another crisis caused by the actively gay cabal.
In recent days the blog has learned about a disturbing series of events that took place during the 2019 diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes from Waterford & Lismore that was led Phonsie Cullinan.
It is my understanding that during the pilgrimage and without parental consent a group of young people were shown a video by Phonsie that showed in graphic detail the full process of an abortion.
We have been unable to ascertain if the video was the well-known anti-abortion firm, The Silent Scream, or whether it was one of the more graphic videos produced by American-based conservatives.
We have been assured (by a serving cleric from Waterford and Lismore) that the presentation of the video was supplied by people from Opus Dei with the explicit approval of Phonsie. And, I believe that Phonsie was present for the showing of the video.
Understandably, the graphic video created significant distress for the young people present who had (I understand) no forewarning about what they were going to be shown. Abortion is a grave evil, however, the utterly misguided actions by the people from Opus Dei and Phonsie is wholly detrimental to the pro-life cause. It can be argued that this action in the long-run was counter-productive to the pro-life cause as it will strengthen the pro-choice leanings of these young people. It will also further alienate them from the sacramental life of the Church.
Phonsie was unable I am told to defend the indefensible.
He had no answer as to why the video was shown without parental consent.
I’m told there was two stand up rows between Phonsie and the pilgrimage leaders.
He could not understand or empathise with the upset/distress of the children to the dismay of the parents.
I am told that some of the young people, who had telephoned their parents in great distress, returned to Ireland the following day. And this experience has left them with a very negative experience of what should have been a joyous and faith-filled pilgrimage to Lourdes.
This is, of course, yet another example in a litany of poor decision-making by the great moral crusader, Phonsie the Dispicacle of Waterford.
As readers of my blog will know, I have been extremely critical of Phonsie. This criticism is justified and proportionate.
In the most obdurate fashion Phonsie failed to deal with the allegations that were repeatedly brought to his attention about Fr. Richard Purcell, the former Abbot of Mount Melleray Abbey.
At any time Phonsie could have removed by Decree – Purcell’s faculties in the Diocese of Waterford & Lismore. Instead, he took every opportunity to further deepen the scandal by concelebrating the Eucharist in public with Purcell.
Time and time again we have learned that those who are considered to be the most “CONSERVATIVE” bishops are often the most corrupt and the most immoral. So-called conservative bishops utilise a theologically conservative façade to shield their own immoral lives and to further disguise the fact that they are tortured and cruel individuals. Often, too, they are gay.
The sexual orientation of Phonsie is really irrelevant, however, one can persuasively argue that his indifference to the wrong-doing of Richard Purcell makes him “gay friendly” which is distinctly at variance with his very public moral crusading. #isphonsieinthecloset.
I am told that the gossip among the priests of Waterford and Lismore is that Phonsie is gay and that he lacks the insight to self-acknowledge this reality within himself. Of course, clerics are very bitchy but can the priests of that diocese be wrong?
I predict that Phonsie Cullinane will have a dramatic fall from grace!
A WOMAN who claimed she suffered clerical sexual abuse as a child over 40 years ago is to receive £150,000 damages.
The pay-out forms part of a settlement reached in cases taken against the Catholic Church.
Now in her late fifties, the woman sued over her alleged treatment as an 11-year-old child in Banbridge, Co Down during the 1970s, according to her lawyer.
Proceedings were issued against both the Diocese of Dromore and priest Aidan Hamill.
In the High Court on Wednesday, counsel for the woman, Patrick Lyttle QC, announced that both actions have been resolved, with judgment against both defendants.
Mr Justice McAlinden then declared: “The action is now settled in the sum of £150,000 damages.”
The defendants are also to pay the plaintiff’s legal costs, the judge added.
Outside court the woman’s solicitor described her as “a survivor of historical clerical child abuse”.
Claire McKeegan said: “Our client is relieved that this ordeal has been concluded in her favour.
“This settlement today is further vindication for her.”

Like many Catholics I was starting to follow Bishop Robert Barron and started buying his Word on Fire materials. He was spending millions to become a “social media superstar”, and his popularity was growing rapidly. But I was quite troubled to see his behaviors and the people around him when I first met him in person in October of 2017.
For some reason that is leading to a scandal, Barron is always surrounded by one or more muscular, tattooed men. Everywhere he goes, I mean everywhere Barron goes, he is always accompanied by these men. What’s more disturbing, he employs them, he pays them higher than high salaries, and it appears that one or more of them live with him.
When Barron started his Word on Fire Ministry (“WOF”) he named Jared Zimmerer as its executive director. Based on publicly available information, Zimmerer has been a competitive bodybuilder and became a catechist at his Texas parish but had no experience in non-profits or any executive level experience when Barron hired him.
⁹Today, Zimmerer is still an executive at WOF and a very close friend of Barron’s. Disturbingly, Zimmerer keeps posting pictures of himself showing his muscles with very little clothes at times. No morally driven corporation, school, private or public or religious organization would ever allow an executive to post those kinds of pictures online. Zimmerer’s public profile claims that he is an athlete, married and has 6 children. It is ironic to think that Bruce Jenner had the same public profile description at one point with the same number of children. But back to the issue, why would a Catholic Bishop, a man under obedience, allow an employee to exhibit his body publicly and lustfully?
But wait, Zimmerer is just the tip of the iceberg. It gets worse.
Meet “Father” Father Steve Grunow the CEO of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries and a “priest in good standing” according to the Archdioceses of Chicago and Los Angeles. A short, 4.9 feet “priest” with a Napoleon complex that also makes a point to show the world that he has big muscles and is starving for attention.
Again, why would any man do this? And this man is a priest for crying out loud! Why? I have asked this question to many people including friends of mine that are or were gay and all of them tell me that these patterns are very common amongst gay men. They use these kinds of pictures in their profiles in gay dating sites and apps like Grindr. Does the name Monsignor Burell, (another one of Archbishop Jose Gomez’ staff member) ring a bell?
We also noticed that Barron likes to spend time meeting with young seminarians at the St. John’s Seminary, and frequently invites seminarians and newly ordained priests to stay at his house overnight. Most noticeable, Barron recently invited Fr. Michel Mesa and Fr. Justin Oh. According to seminarians Mesa and Oh have had a romantic relationship for many years.

Are we insinuating that Bishop Robert Barron is an active homosexual? That is a good question that we can not answer with 100% certainty. With that said, Barron’s statements about same-sex marriage and his close relationship and public praising of male homosexuality promoter Father James Martin gives us another disturbing hint in that direction. But Martin is not a bodybuilder so let’s leave him for a future article.
Now, meet Joseph Gloor, Barron’s photographer, producer, travel companion, roommate, and closest friend.
According to Gloor’s Linkedin profile, he started working for Barron’s WOF in 2016. Gloor claims to be “male model” and was a public-school English teacher before he started working for Barron. Nothing, nothing in his background tells us that he had the experience to be a producer, or photographer.
Why would Barron hire a person like Gloor and why are the two always together? A single, 40 years old, white “male model” working so closely with a Catholic Bishop? I do not know about you, but I find this extremely troubling.
Gloor is not shy and his social media postings show that he is starving for attention and public praise (vanity, lust). He posts half-naked pictures, showing his muscles and tattoos to the world while being employed by a Catholic Bishop.
Again, no corporation, school or religious organization in the US would EVER allow an employee to post these kinds of images online or anywhere. Most corporations have a Morals Clause, in their employment contracts. Barron, a Catholic Bishop apparently does not have this clause in his employment contracts or perhaps he allows (and enjoys) this. What is Gloor trying to tell the world and why is Barron allowing this? Why are the Archdioceses’ attorneys not stopping this? Barron is creating a scandal by allowing these public displays of indecency and vanity from his employees. Barron is also creating scandal and raising questions about his sexuality and his views and approval of, vanity, lust and homosexuality by allowing this.
It just gets worse! Another important and quite unsettling fact to note is that Joseph Gloor is the least experienced and highest paid employee at WOF ranking a salary of $135,000 per year. Gloor makes more money than the director of development, and the president of WOF (Barron’s brother). Why would Barron pay his photographer and travel companion that much money? The median salary for a documentary producer or photographer in Los Angeles is $52,000 per year and this is for a for-profit company. His work experience does not match this level of salary, period. Gloor also gets free meals at Barron’s house and when traveling. At a 5000 calories daily diet that Gloor claims to have, that becomes another $50,000 to $80,000 yearly expense for WOF. So, in our calculations, Barron is rewarding his “producer” with over $210,000 a year in salary and meals. Plus, around-the-world 5-star travel plus other benefits. That amount of salary with that experience sounds more like a gift or a bribe than a salary. Are you getting the message so far?
An anonymous source that works for Barron told me that Barron is also a bodybuilder, and he does this to stay fit. We have not found any evidence about this so far. Also, any experienced psychologist or psychiatrist will tell you that bodybuilding at the level that Barron’s boys are, is not a fitness practice but an addiction.
So, to answer the question is Barron an active homosexual? Well, we really don’t know and affirming this would make us sin. The fact, based on the evidence presented here, is that Barron does enjoy having younger, muscular, tattooed white men around him always and he pays them unusually high salaries that look like bribes to keep them around. We find this disturbing and very questionable to say the least.
Because Barron’s actions, behaviors, views on same-sex marriage, heretical messages and apparent strange, disturbing musclemen fetish go against Church teachings, it is our right and duty under Canon Law to manifest to the clergy and others of Christ’s faithful our views on matters which concern the good of the Church.
Are we creating a scandal? NO, Barron already created the scandal. We are only exposing it. We have communicated these concerns to Archbishop Jose Gomez and Margaret Graf, the Archdiocese attorney and the Apostolic Nuncio but our numerous written, verbal, and electronic communications have been ignored. We pray for someone with clerical authority to stop Barron for the good of the Church. We pray for the Catholic community to see what we see in Barron, a dangerous prelate with a very large ego, higher ecclesiastical ambitions, who is using his large social media platform to spread heretical messages, praise male homosexuality promoters and who is prone to self-made scandals that are and will continue to damage the Church if we don’t stop him.
