FROM ONE OF OUR SCOTTISH CORRESPONDENTS
If you go onto BBC News Scotland you will find an article entitled: ex priest awarded damages against church over childhood abuse. This article relates to former Blairs Spiritual Director, Fr Colman McGrath, who was convicted of abuse of seminarians. He was a colleague and friend of Archbishop Nolan who stayed faithful to him after conviction until his death. The name of the ex priest who has been awarded damages is not known (yet).
BBC SCOTLAND 2015
“The Catholic Church has apologised after a retired priest admitted indecently assaulting three teenage boys in Aberdeen and Glasgow.
Colman McGrath, 76, abused two boys who were training to join the priesthood at Blairs College in Aberdeen and a boy at his parish in Langside, Glasgow.
The offences were committed between August 1972 and September 1982.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court, McGrath was told to carry out 200 hours unpaid work as part of a community payback order.
He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register and told he would be supervised for three years.
In a statement, the church said: “The Archdiocese of Glasgow wishes to apologise to the victims of Father Colman McGrath.
‘Root out evil’
“When the allegations were brought to his attention, Archbishop Tartaglia took steps to ensure that the police were informed.
“These allegations led to Colman McGrath’s eventual arrest, prosecution and conviction. The Archdiocese has cooperated fully with Police Scotland throughout the investigation.”
The statement added: “We are grateful to those affected for coming forward and would encourage anyone else with concerns relating to child protection issues to contact ourselves and the police.
“There can be no place in the Church for abuse of children and we are determined to root out this evil no matter how long ago it occurred.”
The court heard that McGrath was ordained as a priest in June 1962 and between August 1963 and June 1978 taught at Blairs College, where young men studied with a view to joining the priesthood.
He was then based at St Helen’s in Langside between 1979 and 1984.
The first charge, which spanned between August 1972 and June 1973, involved a 17-year-old boy at Blairs College.
McGrath was said to have commented on the boy’s skin condition before rubbing an oil-based substance on him after ordering the teenager to take off his clothes.
This happened on two occasions and on a third, McGrath struck the semi-naked boy with a slipper as a punishment.
In March 2014, the victim contacted the Archdiocese and reported the incidents.
The court was told the second victim – a 16-year-old pupil at Blairs – remembers four incidents between August 1973 and February 1974.
These involved him being hit on the buttocks with a hair brush.
The boy did not join the priesthood and later spoke to a priest about the abuse when his marriage broke down.
The final victim McGrath preyed on was a 14-year-old student struggling with maths who was sent to him for tutoring in September 1980 at St Helen’s in Langside.
He was hit with a belt when there was a mistake made during teaching sessions, before later being spanked by the priest.
The boy was made to take off his trousers and pants and was bent over the priest’s knees and was hit on the bottom with his hand.
The teenager left school not long after the abuse and reported it to the Archdiocese years later.
The court was told that McGrath told police in June 2014 that he remembered the boys involved but denied the allegations.
It was said on McGrath’s behalf that he said he could not recall the incidents rather than it being outright denial.
LMcGrath, through is lawyer, made an “unreserved and full apology” to all three victims and said that they “feature regularly in the prayers of the accused”.
The new Vicar General of Motherwell, Fr Raymond Breslin, has the same domestic arrangements as the former Vicar General of Glasgow”.
Back to our Scottish correspondent:
Docherty the DICKtator and PP of KIlsyth has been moved due to concerns and his disgusting resistance to the synod and because the people despise him and are threatening a petition if he’s not moved. She has been moved to Falkirk as the PP there,
Jemima Boyle wants some more privacy as the house in Falkirk is on the main road.
The new PP of Kilsyth is the Diocesan Chancellor, Fealy Deeley, who has fallen out with both the Archbishop Lay on my Cushion and The Vicar General and Ratzinger Protege/eye candy, Patricia Burke.
The Daisy Chain in Edinburgh is alive and kicking.
The more we hear of Scotland the worse it seems.
Most priests there are gay and actively so.
There is the occasional heterosexual in the Land of the Kilt.
The Scottish RCC is rotten.
108 replies on “AH! BONNY WEE SCOTLAND.”
The new VG of Motherwell was actively involved in the breakup of that marriage, allegedly. The husband is very bitter about the whole thing .
Bishop Toal would be delighted to hear the alligations as he likes to be transparent as he did consult his advisors before making the appointment.
It is unfair and terrible to come down so harshly on priests for their moral failings: Satan tempts them more severely than the rest of us. This means in reality that the Devil is behind these failings, not the priests. We should always bear this in mind, especially the victims. Victims should offer their pain for the moral improvement of these priests instead of running willy nilly to the police to report their so-called crimes.
Priests need our compassion, understanding and prayers, not our condemnation. It is sinful and cowardly to abandon priests when they are under attack by the demons.
Howling. A brilliant caricature of how Roman Catholics see things. Unfortunately they won’t recognize the veracity.
Il faut hurler avec les loups.
10:34 Il vaut mieux que hurler chez Les moutons.
11:03 You are a sick person. I think you are in great need of an exorcism…or two.
9:11 Don’t be so rude to a faithful catlick.
How hilarious, but how sad that you might believe this.
Read Matt 4:1-11
It matters not what we are tempted with, it matters how we respond to the offer.
It priests are tempted more, is it not what we volunteered for, we’re trained for, why we pray…
I would love to respond to your comment, HG, but Pat might not publish my words. He didn’t publish my last post. Very uneven handed.
Try me again.
Okay, Pat. Here goes.
HG, Jesus, being God, had the innate strength to reject satanic temptation every time it arose; priests do not. So it does, very much indeed, matter how people are tempted: the stronger the temptation, the more difficult it is to resist.
For such strength, we rely on God principally, but also on one another, for prayer and support. However, if priests are not praying, they wilfully cut themselves loose from divine grace, and become far easier prey for Evil.
In this, the failing priests bear fundamental moral responsibility, but do not forget that Evil is at work, too, in order to exploit every person’s innate moral weakness; and it will do this ceaselessly, unhindered by actual grace, until a person becomes so entrenched in moral decrepitude it would damn itself were it to die at that moment.
Are we not supposed to believe that Jesus was 100 % human and tempted to the same degree as all of us?
Yes, Pat, Jesus was, like us, 100% human, but, unlike us, he was also 100% divine, with all the moral advantages this brings (including the innate strength to say “no” to temptation every time).
In Matt 4: 1 through 11 Jesus tells Satan that one may not tempt God, but it is clear that Satan could tempt the incarnate God, Jesus. In this lies the “why” of divine incarnation: that God might be tempted. The only way he could be tempted was to experience the weakness of human nature, and, with the strength of God, overcome it.
11.03 that’s all right then, you are obviously one of these community priest protectors peeking out from under their skirts now & then so you will no doubt be equally understanding when Satan “tempts” the recipients of wrong doing by you & your priestly “friends”, we don’t think! Such Unbelievable self entitlement courtesy of RCC crooks & criminals international.
Really!!!!! I can’t believe that comment!
The comparison between how abusers are pampered and protected & victims are vilified, framed, discredited etc., speaks for itself.
Will Scotland ever have a Cardinal again?
KOB spoilt it for a generation and the Vatican view is he committed the Cardinal sin: he got caught!!!!
Elsie buried KOB but despised him – KOB was briefly a proponent of married priests funny because he was as gay as a row of tents.
He broke the first rule of the closet – he got caught.
KOB was seemingly heterosexual but as gay as the day is long!!
Vin may have despised KOB but perhaps not as much as he despised himself in being induced to say those things and occupy the prominent position at the funeral. He and other prominent seniors could have stayed in a pew (some of the robes would be fine) and the only people needed on the top platform were the rural dean of Newcastle and a no. 4 (episcopal vicar of something) from Edinburgh. Vin being a metropolitan had (like Pell) the ultimate power of self determination which was supposed to protect believers.
Of course, thr Scottish RCC is corrupt to its core. Its head Cardinal Keith O’Brien was a predatory homosexual. His elevation to the top post was aided and abetted by other homosexuals, and no doubt, many of his proteges are in situ. Rome responded by sending a rotund, avuncular dwarf of a Maltese Archbishop to whitewash the stinking sepulchre.
Is there a Saint Ghislaine….yet?
Santo Subito! Though not sure if the family still have enough dosh these days to afford the canonisation fees.
She could be patron saint of Catholic adoption agencies.
JIMINIA is Bishop of Falkirk (pp) and won’t give that as he has spent a fortune on the sect Divive Renovation.
Usual for 2 PP.
Burke turned down Galloway the last time so will make may get it but again Unusual to come from same diocese.
God preserve the people of Galloway from that haughty creep ….
There is two Burke’s the VG of Edinburgh who was suppose to turn down Galloway so Nolan got Galloway.
Then there is Joe Burke VG Paisley who had the 30years affiar with the Vice Chancellor of Glasgow Tom White all part of the daisy chain.
It beggars belief that the Archbishop presided over McGraths funeral & Bishop also in attendance. Further evidence of Roman Catholic glorification of their abusive crooks, criminals, paedophiles, rapists & the like.
The Scottish RCC may well be rotten but it is not as well protected by the media as the Irish RCC. You are very fortunate not to have to live on a censored island tightly gripped by RCC control of schools system being one example.
1.01am (on the sauce 🥃) Howling at the idea that the Irish media is positive towards the Church.
10:28 Howling at the idea you can’t see how positive it actually is, and what you want is unconditional continual adulation.
Okay. Is this Daniel Doherty [sic] we’re talking about? I was at school with him at St Andrew’s PS in Falkirk. Thick as shit in the neck of a bottle. Refused admission to the priesthood on more than one occasion owing to lack of … brains. Eventually admitted because they were desperate for priests.
Moving him to Falkirk is a bad idea as it’s his home patch.
Current PP, Boyle, is very unpopular. He is unable to make eye contact with a single parishioner. Very cold fish. Has a coterie of “friends”. Very pally with one of the (male) organists. Boyle is more often on holiday or in a “day off” than actually on call in the parish house.
StAnEd very divided between the Cushley Ratzingerians and … the rest.
Interesting times …!
@2.59 shitting on their own doorsteps is inevitable as many clergy curry favour to serve as close as possible to home where they proceed to stir up no end of trouble that eventually hits their hierarchy in their kissers.
Your comments are disgraceful. Lacking in all Christian charity. Who are you to comment on another person’s intelligence? Even if you are right- so what?! The Curé d’Ars didn’t do badly, despite difficulties with studies. Shame on you.
I have never heard of a curate let alone a Parish Priest going to his home parish.
In days gone by they were not allowed in their own deanary but the shortage has allowed that.
Surely Archbishop Cushley knows it is his home parish however they say Archbishop Cushley has two camps in his field the KOB camp and the Cushley camp so ir will be difficult.
The wife of the Episcopal Church Bishop of Galloway and Glasgow is the Chief Operating Officer of saint Andrew’s and Edinburgh RC so she will not know.
And your point is, beyond your lack of Christian charity?
Good morning bonnie Scotland.
Please forward all evidence on this matter & more to Bishop Buckley.
For contact details see the top right-hand corner of this page.
Warning! Darcy’s doing ‘Sunday Worship’ on BBC Radio 4, being broadcast now.
Pat, for all the sinful stories, sensationalist headlines, salacious accounts – it’s all in vain. The Scottish Conference of Bishops know what’s going on. They accept it. The authority of the nuncio has no teeth and, even if it did, he reports to a “Pope” in Rome who a significant proportion of the faith neither respect, recognise nor take seriously. He’s filled the college with sycophantic heretics made from his own image, and you wonder what Oscott seminarians are given the keys to parishes throughout the land.
Nothing will come of any of this. That was evident post-Despard. They rounded together and set the direction for the foreseeable.
It’s over. The Daisy Chain has won.
‘significant proportion of the faith neither respect’
Really not being funny but the church has spent the past few decades in the public eye showing its lack of respect for everything and everybody, including its own pretend religion. Oh the irony after that if the ‘faithful’ don’t respect the pope. 🤣
It is heartbreaking to see what teh Bishops are doing to Scotland and yes the daisy chain is winning but please God not for long.
Paisley is finished with Betty Turpin.
Dunkeld and Motherwell will be gone in the next few years.
Glasgow is a shocker as Clergy and Laity really thought Archbishop Nolan would have sorted the daisy chain out but he still has two daisy chain leaders in post and he confirm big Hughie as VG but not as yet confirmed Paul as Chancellor so there is still hope.
Archbishop Nolan will be looking around and just hit just like the quick unkown 5 clergy changes and no one knew so he is as cunning as a fox.
Motherwell will be gone in a few years? really? I guess you aren’t from this Diocese. If Motherwell is finished then there is no hope for any Diocese in the UK!
I see D’Arcy is on the radio BBC R4 this morning doing the morning service. The usual trite, naff, saccharine stuff, although he does make a pitch for women’s ordination and ordination of a whole range of people, which is valid enough. But he does sound so precious and self-satisfied. Never mind, I’m sure he will be lauded by his loving followers telling him he’s as wonderful as ever ! I’d love to hear what his CP brothers will be saying around the lunch table today, mind you !
And yet “never off the airwaves” Darcy tells people he’s been silenced, a bit like that heretic Flannery in Esker, whose house has just renewed itself out of existence.
Defamation. Point out the alleged heresy. Flannery, like Pat, has asked questions. That’s not heretical.
No, wait. Are you implying there’s a religious order where they’re actually talking to each other?
“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall”
It did not happen at Drygrange. Colman McGrath was on the staff at the now-defunct Blairs Junior Seminary in Aberdeen.
This pay out does not relate to Coleman McGrath and there is a NDA included.
The Bishop’s Conferance only pays out if if was a serving Archbishop or Bishop otherwise it would be a dioceses that would pay out.
Like Oscott is the responsibility of Birmingham and not the Bishop’s Conferance of England and Wales.
And on staff of a senior seminary too … with Tartaglia, Conroy and others.
“The name of the ex priest who has been awarded damages is not known”
Given that he’s published a book in the last year it’s safe to say that most people know who he is!
Pat, it is Brian Devlin of Saint Andrew’s and Edinburgh and it happened at Drygrange it seems.
KOB was the Spiritual Director.
Pat it’s not Devlin, that’s totally wrong. The ex priest in question is Dominic Douglas.
Think it best the name of any victim of sexual abuse – clerical or otherwise – be held in confidence to avoid further hurt.
Bishops are ordaining well known deviants, sticking their heads in the sands by deliberately ignoring outstanding issues with serving clergy & their other volunteers who are openly abusing parishioners & others & operating in direct contravention of RCC advertised rules & ethics. The reason being these Bishops are either sexually or financially comprised or both but don’t worry, they have a fail proof plan to “fix” it all. They check Bishop Buckley’s blog 24/7 as they “believe” that “identifying and slandering victims & their advocates on here” will “serve their objective ” of “making the church “do” for their day”.
No update on Fr Aidan McCann’s second court appearance for voyeurism? Has it been adjourned pending a psychological evaluation?
Adjourned on remand.
No statement from Amy? You’d expect at least a two-liner – cooperating with police and suspended pending the outcome of this case etc. Very arrogant to say nothing.
Bishop Pat, Does Adjourned on remand mean he is in prison or out on bail Cheers
Remanded in custody do you mean, Bp Pat?
Police bail. He will probably have conditions set -i.e. keep away from female toilets, the shopping centre etc.,
@11.53 also no update on summer appointments in Diocese of Killaloe?
Killaloe appointments are suppose to be announced next weekend.
12.11pm So many fronts for the prelate concerned and police snapping at heels all around him and his Curia. No statement or comment could encapsulate the safety of the future because of what may be cast up. Their legal advisors must be banging their heads of the walls.
11.53 Fr Aidan Mc Cann was appointed to the Parish of Haggardstown and Blackrock by Archbishop Eamonn Martin. Eamonn Martin knew that Fr Paddy Keenan was an aggressive bully, most particularly to his curates and all the way back to his time as Curate in Dundalk where he harassed and tormented MM, a very decent and good man. Mc Cann’s immediate predecessor was Brian White whom Keenan tormented and drove to great suffering and pain. Eamonn Martin is culpable for the stress and life change in Mc Cann life. He knowingly gave him as fodder to Kennan to professionally and personally abuse. William Mulvihill
I shall repeat this a number of days in the coming week.
About this time last week, Eamonn Martin further indicated his incompetence. During the ceremony he told a newly ordained priest in full public hearing that he was looking well on two weeks of being a priest. The calculating cynic. Incompetent Fool. Charles Brown was a disaster on this island. How can Armagh be helped? William Mulvihill
CB was a grand lad.
If guilty he deserves to get the balls cut of him!
Eamon Martin can say or do nothing as it would be seen to jeopardise the investigations.
Doomed if he does and doomed if he doesn’t!
@ 11.53 Irish & local media outlets bury Roman church related scandals as much as possible – moneyed advertisers & influencers speak.
Presumably, the same Scottish correspondent that recently commented on Holy Toaly.
Pat look into the exiled Ben Hughes.
” Michael needs time.” Thats what I had to listen to from Martin as Hickey bullied me for years. And Sweeney used to laugh with Martin on the matter. Period. William Mulvihill
Rome needs to investigate last weeks ceremony and the lies that were publicly told . A Roman Trait of course. It all happened before and will again. Rome, no money in Ireland for you but you owe it a little care if for nothing but a bit of History. Benedicts letter which Joe Murphy helped scale back used the word “Filth”. It was Papal Filth at work then as now.
Your man from Kilkenny sends some interesting snaps to people. Considering he was once ‘pious’ haha
The Kilkenny cats set a trap in Croke Park. It was a rat trap and the Killaloe diocese have been caught. 😺🏑
Poor Galway today. A brave battle but too many wides. Limerick march on. All our good rural brethren just want to enjoy our finest Gaelic Games in their spare time.
Seamus viii at 6.59pm
Limerick wasn’t the same of the old Limerick of 2020 and 2021. Ref was biased towards them in last 10 mins.
Tribes too many wides and big heart. Not bad for new tribes manager in his 1st few months. He will get better.
Kilkenny has all the cuteness and flick away hand hidden before ref eyes (I mean their dirty tactics hitting hand of a hurler that no body sees it even the ref).
Kilkenny was the only team to beat Limerick in 2019 all ire final. I would expect Cody’s vast knowledge of hurling and his cuteness to play their part in final.
Clare looked like a v tired team as too many games played their part. Gaa got it all wrong re hurling fixtures.
Limerick and Kilkenny will have to play in final in 2 weeks time with NO real break. That sums up of gaa bigwigs madness as their mind only think of 💰💰💰, not players welfare.
Gaa CEO if you didn’t know is an accountant as he never played for inter County team-carlow.
Next 10 years gaa popularity might go down in the tubes as its not the same as old gaa in my estimation.
The GAA is still going strong. Fíanna Fáil have fallen away. Some of the faithful then are not so faithful in this secularist era.
On the subject of the faithful. I thought the Faithful county were going to win the minor hurling All-Ireland today. When I turned on TG4, Offaly were hurling very well. A Tipperary chap got sent off for throwing a hurley. Surely it was going to be Offaly’s day? With the last play of the game, Tipperary scored a goal and won by a point!
Séamus Darby famously scored a goal in 1982. On this Sunday, nearly 40 years later, Offaly were the victims of late goal drama. This late goal drama isn’t good for the old heart! 😉
Don’t associate Clare hurlers with a bunch of priests and parishes from 5 different counties. It’s an insult.
The Banner County is in the diocese of Killaloe. Pride in the parish. Pride in the diocese.
Holier than thou Bukley. The false man
Seamus viii at 9.36pm
This offaly minor team is very good team as I heard few months ago. Cos they were going places plus u20 who won last year leinster final as well.
Ref was correct as its red card all day long. I often saw Kilkenny defenders throwing hurley at Premier County in final but they got away with it big time. They will do it now and again if its necessary. Its one part of Kilkenny cuteness that don’t get ref attention so to speak.
Seamus Darby goal was the finest drama I ever saw as I was cheering for 🇮🇪 cos of kerry arrogance with 5th in row cakes already made. It was a priest from offaly now deceased predicted offaly win to an offaly player that very morning as he didn’t believe it.
Gaa strong links with rcc put me off as in the past, you would usually see a priest as president or chairman of any small club or parish club, even though he hasn’t a clue about hurling or gaa. That’s why I don’t trust gaa for this reason. Gaa is strongly tied to rcc and FF. FF is gone now, next is rcc🤔🤷♀️
I see you and Seamus of the rural brethren brigade are fast becoming gaa buddies.
I hope you don’t drag him to Phuket with you if you decide to go.
I suppose you could always start a Phuket gaa team or become gaa pundits of Phuket.
Be good for goodness sake.
My handbag is at the ready, DG.
I work in a parish in Scotland. Nominally I have c1500 parishioners. Last night at Vigil there were 16 at Mass.
To my surprise during a chat with some of them after Mass the subject of a recent ordination came up. The alleged reputation of the new priest was raised along with other matters which have featured in blogs by both yourself and Catholic Truth Scotland.
These diehard catholics said that these matters were scandalising the Faithful and these things are common knowledge among parishioners.
Today at Mass there was a congregation of 32 !!
If our hierarchy think these things aren’t affecting our people then they need to think again.
Having spoken to other clergy in the last week I’m convinced the rot in Scotland post O’Brien is now gathering pace.
What you are facing with numbers it is Scotland wide and parish galore are facing the same situation.
At Carfin Jessie loves the lace and the new priest will love Carfin.
Now things can only get worse and will continue to be and I have written to Joe taol and the Papal Nuncio because as Pope Francis has said the ones wrongly ordained will be a mortgage on the Church sadly in Scotland there will be no one left to pay the mortgage.
Clergy like yourself is sitting back and it seems not informing the Bishops of your thoughts and so the daisy chain wins.
The Papal Nuncio’s duty is to inform Rome not the Bishops.
At Kevin Rennie’s ordination the deacon corrected Archbishop Nolan in how to set the Altar and he has made a mistake as Nolan will have his cards marked after his ordination next week.
THREE big appointments to be made Bishop for Galloway, Rector and Spiritual Director for Scots college.
ps Father you will be told just to amalgamated both the Masses.
big appointments?? Rector/SD of a college with – what – 10 students and a useless big building – you’d be daft to accept
It’s always someone else’s fault, isn’t it? Sounds like you’re not doing your job, IMHO.
Rector of a seminary is often a stepping stone towards a pointy hat – Oscott Rectors, Thomas, Kelly, McKinney, McDonald, Oakley all diocesan bishops.
Armagh appointments appear to indicate that the ‘boss’ is running out of options as far as MIA protection goes. Dungannon is proving very difficult. Pomeroy may see PP move. It really will be handbags at dawn.
6.19 He is out of options. Full Stop.
6.19 As FD might have said “Trouble is there isn’t a decent one in it.” Handbag that is
I was a weekly Mass attender here in Hamilton. Other members of my family were also Sunday mass goers.
Over the last few years all the others have fallen away. I’m sure my poor mother and father, both deceased, would be turning in their graves that we have lapsed.
However the fact that our diocese has fallen away so badly and is mired in scandal would excuse us in their eyes.
Now I’ve stopped going to mass.
I know at least 3 other families who are like ourselves. Stopped. Stopped going to mass and stopped putting our hard earned money into them.
Sorry but there are so many wrong things happening in Motherwell diocese now that i have lost pride in being a Catholic.
Thank you Bishop Toal. You are no bishop Devine (despite his faults) or Bishop Thomson
Please do not get upset about your deceased parents as they would leave as well.
Bishop Thomson was a gentleman and Bishop Devine was good as well in Glasgow then Motherwell but he was never a CEO he was a peole’s person and in every parish and school.
You would be shocked if you knew the truth about Motherwell and the c/o diocesan priests the latest being mosignor Millar 70 year old c/o loved his dinner parties and the lads.
Some of the parishes in Hamilton are already under threat with lack of people and funds.
I do not have shares in royal Mail but I ask that you write to Bishop Toal direct and you do not even need to give your name as he will not reply but he thinks everything is amazing sadly his eye sight is failing and may need to resign with no more driving allowed and struggling with steps.
Do not contact the Diocesan offices as it is a Deacon that runs the office but All contact Bishop Toal St. Gerard’s Fleming Road Bellshill ML4 1NF
Please do not feel guilty about being lapsed as there are thousands like you this year.
So not feel guilty about being lapsed? It is a grave sin to miss Mass.
I agree. I am in Motherwell Diocese, and reckon the bishop will have to close at least 60% of his churches to keep the diocese afloat financially. Our parish numbers have fallen to about a fifth of what they were 10 years ago. There is now no Children’s Liturgy on a Sunday as there are no children at Mass. You can see by the demographic that the numbers will plummet to unsustainable levels in the next 10 years. I am in advanced years, so am lucky that I will probably not witness this once-proud diocese’s decline. I don’t envy the bishop his job.
We have had a number of ordinations in the diocese in the last decade, but it is clear that the priesthood has become a gay profession. Most of the new priests are Oscott-educated, half-witted trads, who stink of clericalism and entitlement. Real men in their congregations cannot relate to this effeminacy, and have begun to disappear from the pews.
Not as bad as Bergemo diocese in Italy, where one of its priests is decked out like this for Milan Pride.
Oscott is the Devil’s playground, Scottish dioceses should withdraw their men immediately.
That’s it They are desperate to ordain because they don’t want the candle to go out. If it does there will be questions before they get a new one
I and my family have also decided to stay away. I won’t use the term lapsed, as we feel the church, not us, have lapsed from following Christ. Every day saw a new church scandal which would even make johnson’s government blush. Our son is gay, works in finance and has a stable partner – yet the so-called “celibate” priests are having more sex than him and would condemn him. I was a eucharistic minister and committed, but the scandals have made me appreciate what’s essential and the church isn’t.
Clergy changes in St Andrew’s & Edinburgh. Anyone aware of the reason wee Fr Ninian Doohan, PP of the TLM parish of St Patrick’s, Dundee (D. Dunked) has been transferred to St Theresa’s, Craigmillar (ArchD. St Andrew’s & Edinburgh) as assistant priest? Weird move …
He developed a bizarre cult of personality around himself, probably heading for a breakdown. frequent illegal Masses during 2020 lockdown which select friends were invited to. Reported to the bishop numerous times by dozens of parishioners and resulted in hundreds leaving the parishes. Lots of other dodgy goings on. Whether or not this is linked to his departure…
