CELEBRATED FLAUTIST AND ORATORY MUSICIAN DIES 😞

SEAMUS TANSEY

EASTER SNOW

THE FAIRY

My long time friend and renowned performer of the Irish flute – SEAMUS TANSEY (78) died unexpectedly in the early hours of yesterday morning at Craigavon Area Hospital.

Seamus – Rest in Peace.

Seamus was from Gorteen in Sligo.

He spent part of his life as a postman in his own area.

For personal reasons he left Sligo and came to live in Northern Ireland.

31 years ago I celebrated his marriage to his wife, Joan, from Ballyclare in County Antrim.

From then forwards they lived in Craigavon.

Seamus was initially part of the music / drama group called The Armagh Rhymers.

But for a long time he had been regarded as an expert in the Irish flute and was renowned and highly regarded.

He had long term connection with with the Flately family and taught Michael Flately to play the flute.

Apart from his music Seamus was an old-fashioned Republican.

He had a mischievous sense of humour.

One time a court in the Republic forwarded a series of three summons to him.

Seamus sent a letter to the judge

“Dear Judge,

I wish to acknowledge the three summons you sent me.

I have only one request.

Could you please print all future summons on softer paper.

Sincerely yours,

Seamus Tansey”

Seamus was very loyal to me and to The Oratory.

Every Holy Week and every Christmas Eve Seamus played at our Masses. He also read old Irish poems for us.

Like myself, nobody was neutral about Seamus. You either loved or hated him.

But he was mightier himself than all his enemies put together.

SEAMUS’ FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

Monday 11th July 3 pm Arrival of Seamus at The Oratory.

Wednesday 13th July 3 pm Funeral Mass at The Oratory.

Afterwards: Cremation

SUNDAY 17TH : Burial of ashes in Gorteen, Sligo.

Lord have mercy on Seamus. Condolences to his wife, family and all who mourn him. There will be great music in heaven when he re-unites with his fellow musicians. Seamus and his music will be missed by all in Co. Clare. R.I.P Seamus.
Pat will the funeral be shown on line so that people can get a chance to watch it?

This will be a funeral that .. I will l watch . My fathers funeral a few years back turned into a session in a church. To grave. To the pub. Music all day, and most of the week. So I’m sorry the loss of your friend. I’m going to catch a few of his tunes now on YouTube,! I know there are tapes in my home and I’ll locate them! Goodnight.

Noel and Tony use to be close, while Noel works with his clergy and accommodates us well, he will not be told what to do, hence the fall out and why he was sent the 70 year old Deacon

8.28 it’s disgraceful that 2 faced Roman Catholic local clergy & their teachers pals posting on here as anonymous but we all know they are so called respectable bishops, priests & teachers & their staff & volunteers coming on this blog making derogatory remarks about people with diagnosed special needs when they plaster photos of themselves in the media on a regular basis pretending to support these very people just to make themselves look good. Shameful 2 faced propaganda exhibited by bishops, priests, teachers & their cohort. May I take this opportunity to offer my condolences to the wife, family & large circle of friends of Seamus Tansey – a very straightforward man & a legend in Irish traditional musical circles. Sleep easy good friend. Rest in Peace.

5.39: Your post is very confusing, a lie and incoherent. You take a swipe at everyone. You’re not the brightest spark with this utterance and you obviously haven’t a clue about Department of Education procedures, guidelines, protocols and ethical standards which MUST be upheld and followed re: giving teaching posts to teachers. There are clearly defined practises and I suggest you read them before you open your mouth in making false allegations. Somehow I don’t believe you’ve ever worked in a school setting in any capacity; therefore be informed truthfully re: Department procedures. It’s obvious too that you have no understanding of Schools requirements and obligations re: special needs children. The problem is not with the School Boards of Management, who do their level best to provide an education to all – but with a defect in funding by respective Education Departments. You attribute comments about special needs children to bishops, priests, teachers and their cronies and pronounce that they have contributed demeaning comments on this blog about such children! What a large statement. Now, tell us where and when and by whom these “supposed” unkind comments were posted on this blog. If you cannot do this simple task, I suggest you shut your mouth and go back to school. Pat, may I offer you my sympathy on the death of your very good musician friend. His music is wonderful. May God be kind to him and bless all who grieve for him.

6.33 the contributor @ 5.39 obviously touched a nerve. Shut your mouth, you say to them, how predictable, the world is now thankfully most knowledgeable & well informed on the various methods employed by the Roman Catholic Church to shut up victims of abuse around the world. Forging travel documents to facilitate illegal adoptions, mass burial sites, and so on…. Prayers for the legendary Seamus Tansey and for all those who were “told what to do” by clergy who weren’t fit to wipe their shoes in the bad old days. Rest in Peace Seamus & Condolences to his family & friends.

Learning Lessons Review – Father Alan Griffin
June 26th 2022
Author – Chris Robson

The C of E in London should have had their “operative” locked up for not keeping records, the rest of them incl. Bishop Mullooly should have been slung in the street for not calling him to account, then RCDOW should have been slung in the street for not calling them to account. Mullooly and C of E London are the Queen’s employees, funded by thefts from C of E parishes (documented).

If I had been in Vin’s shoes I would, three months after Father Griffin’s application for ministry, have given Mullooly the ultimatum: within the week the entire facts “else” there will be our full account of your skulduggery in the press. This shows that the ontological clergydom don’t feature highly in RC values, contrary to what they were told.

9.33 it’s never wise to deliberately wrong anyone on the arrogant assumption they’ll be shamed or intimidated in any manner whatsoever into keeping quiet about it & then to start whinging & moaning about the well deserved consequences. Seamus was renowned for telling it as it was. There would be far less ongoing wrongdoing in the world if there were more brave souls like the legendary & talented Seamus Tansey. RIP 🙏

It is very uncharitable of some people on here to presume that this poor man is in heaven. Because if people think that they wont bother praying or having a Mass said for him. When he might be in desperate need of them. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.

8.24 everything connected to the Roman Catholic Church is now one big scam, the fake pretences on their celibacy vows, covering up for financial & moral wrong doings by their members, persistent accommodation of deviant clergy by moving them around & lack of transparency when recommending these clergy & their other links for other roles outside of the church. The hateful posts from clergy on this blog are eye opening. Definitely keep well away from these dangerous scammers.

3.14 it wasn’t “nearly” it was very real & all these well connected Ennis thugs are still very much out & about & count clergy & their inner circle of volunteers amongst their closest allies. Bishop Fintan Monahan is endangering parishioners but he & his teams are busying themselves trying to permanently silence victims of church related abuse & wrong doing in Killaloe Diocese. It is slander & discrimination to get Glenstal Abbey to cancel Caroles retreat that Killaloe has booked for her in first place after what Fr Ger Fitzgerald did to her & Yvonne.

9.36 Ger Fitzgerald & Jerry Carey surrounded themselves with “certain types” & so openly considered themselves invincible. Carey was a very bad example to Fitzgerald in this regard as he’d got away with so much for decades so Fitzgerald assumed he’d also follow in the same vein. Jerry Carey carries far more responsibility in this Fitzgerald saga. He was also previously based in Cloughleigh parish in Ennis but was elevated to the far more affluent Doora Barefield, Ennis parish.

7.13: But Carole, hold your reins for a moment. You did engage with this priest. He hurt you. Horrible. You also hurt many by your behaviour. You consented to this liaison. It wasn’t forced on you. Take your responsibilities seriously and look after your spouse and family. Quit insulting others.

Like

6.50 Marcella, if you’d care to read the blog archive you will note that one of the victims of Fr Ger Fitzgerald- Carole has been wilfully and recklessly slandered and defamed in recent weeks as Glenstal Abbot, Brendan Coffey cancelled her retreat booked by Bishop Fintan Monahan of Killaloe Diocese on foot of Bishop Monahans instructions in an attempt to punish Carole for reporting what Fr Ger Fitzgerald did to her. Furthermore, a second woman, Yvonne Drake was intimidated by contacts of Fr Ger Fitzgerald in Ennis & had to leave her home in fear I understand. As you will also note, alleged property damage issues are outstanding, moneys received by Fr Ger Fitzgerald are under investigation etc, etc etc. You fail to appreciate that this is an extremely serious matter with a backstory & witnesses that will be presented in court and not on this blog. Marcella you are an arrogant & most ignorant member of “the chattering classes” – the type that have emptied churches around the world & no wonder.

7.38 Ger Fitzgerald definitely wont be hanging around any bars in Sixmilebridge anyway wherever he’ll go to get it, remember the poor innocent old boy who got a bullet in his backside whilst he was smoking a fag outside the bar at the music festival a few years ago. 8.10: Accepting responsibility for one’s decision, however uncomfortable, is the first step in a healing process. Carole needs to accept her responsibility. TRUTH. The hurt inflicted on her is morally reprehensible. But we each must own our own wrong decisions and behaviour which hurts those closest to us. That’s all I’m saying. Incidentally, I’m neither ignorant nor arrogant nor do I belong to the chattering classes. Rather silly of you.

8:26 Stop your preaching “Marcella”. You know nothing about what goes on in my life. I warned you and because you persist, I will not resist. 14th April 2021: “Hi XXXXX.. I’m up tomorrow for my impeachment verdict… so we will see what that brings.. it’s really truly awful what the devil has brought to us but I know God is in here somewhere.” What the devil has brought to us? No Fr. Ger. It is ONLY what you brought on your own self. You are a delusional prick who only looks out for #1. You used your position of authority & power in the RCC to hurt and abuse vulnerable women. Where is the other woman who you dumped before Valentine’s Day? How does she feel being dumped by a priest? What repercussions has that had on her life, How’s Carmel and Catherine and all the rest? STOP your fucking lies and tell your minions to back off before I blow a gasket and it all goes public.

@10.47 100%. Spot on. Fintan has a duty of care to parishoners and letting loose these guys on the general public is disgraceful. Monahan should be resigning at this stage.

Open Question for Bishop Fintan Monahan, response required as he & his team read this blog.says:

@8.26 about time the Roman Catholic Church started taking responsibility for all the human rights atrocities they’ve carried out & continue to do so. It’s not right that priests can troll & target parishioners for money & sex & free clothes on Facebook/ dress it up whatever way you like Bishop Fintan Monahan but that’s what your priest Fitzgerald did to women. It’s even more concerning that church goers & clergy that support him are coming onto this blog abusing & harassing victims of this priest. Where’s the Killaloe appointment list, what’s the delay with it? Where’s Fitzgerald & Carey – are they like Ryan McAleer on their way into unsuspecting colleges & communities. Séamus was my postman most of my life growing up in Gurteen. I spent my childhood listening to him play at sessions in the village. In my adulthood I married a noted musician called PJ Hernon and we became very friendly with Séamus. He would tell me that he knew me before I was born, and he would tell me about my mother’s ability to sing. Séamus himself was a great singer. He invited me to play the bodhrán on one of his recordings which I was honored to do. He was one of the greats and his Sligo style of playing and the settings he had on the tunes was magical. He will always be remembered in Irish music circles and his music will live on for generations. I am happy that his final resting place is the graveyard in Gurteen Co Sligo. I will join him there some day. God be good to the soul of a great Gurteen man. R.I.P
