CARD CUPICH PLANS TO CANCEL CHRIST THE KING

July 17, 2022 from by

UPDATE: Cardinal Cupich’s decision to cancel the CKSP in Chicago was scheduled to be announced on Sunday, July 17. The announcement did not happen which has lead people to speculate whether Cupich will actually proceed. Follow us for the latest update.

Cupich of Chicago has told the members of the Institute of Christ the King in Chicago, that he is effectively shutting them down as of 1 August.   This will be formally announced on Sunday at the Institute’s church on the South Side of Chicago.

No Masses.  Nothing.  31 July is their last day to function.

I’m sorry that the Institute itself was not able to break the news.

This is very bad for everyone, as it is another move to slam shut the gates of grace, to make the Church smaller, stingier, narrower.   If a place is doing well, then – by gum – crush it.

PAT SAYS

There are two issues at stake here.

2. But, at a much deeper level, there is the question of the TLM being used by its adherents to:

1. There is the Vatican 11 Mass versus the Traditional Latin Mass.

A. Reject the Second Vatican Council.

B. Reject the Papacy of Francis.

The TLM has been hijacked by the right wing RC extremists as a battering ram against Vatican 11 and Francis.

Politically, the Vatican has no other option but to oppose this TLM trogan horse.

It’s not a battle about the language used at Mass.

It’s about an RC rump resisting the whole beast.

Slamming shut the gates of grace clearly implies that the new mass doesn’t provide grace. These people are heretics and the Holy Father is right to treat them as such.

Can’t understand how Mark Wahlberg has anything to do with him ( except he found faith after………), I do realise why Cupich likes Wahlberg. I like Wahlberg especially since his demonstrable fondness for Graham Norton on his wonderful show. “Thats not nice Mark” was how Norton politely dealt with the “situation.” Wonder what Cupich would have done/do.

Yes No Closed Doors is a fact it is part of Vatican Two.
You maybe from the old school of thought that Our Lord on judgement day is going to have a big book and say Garngad Lad you did this and that oh did you go to Mass and say your prayers and burn candles of course he is not he is going to ask you did you LOVE everyone including the least fotunate and help others in need so it will not be a box tick judgement but one of LOVE.
He is a God of Love and Compassion.
You only need to read the beatitudes for guidelines.
So it is No Closed Doors however within vatican Two teachings.

Sedevacantism is a doctrinal position within traditionalist Catholicism which holds that the present occupier of the Holy See is not a valid pope due to the pope’s espousal of one or more heresies and that therefore, for lack of a valid pope, the See of Rome is vacant.
The term sedevacantism is derived from the Latin phrase sede vacante, which means “with the chair [i.e. of the Bishop of Rome] being vacant”.
Sede vacante (lit. ’the time of the empty throne’ in Latin) is a term for the state of a diocese while without a bishop. In the canon law of the Catholic Church, the term is used to refer to the vacancy of the bishop’s or Pope’s authority upon his death or resignation.
Due to +TD’s despicable behaviour of not providing Dom Benedict Andersen, the true Prior of Silverstream, with his letter of good standing. Is the Episcopal seat of the Royal County effectively vacant at this time?

Reconcile well it is out of Love that the Archbishop will need to address father Stephen and Father Mark of course the door is open to them and again they took vows to the Archbishop or his successor therefore Love is there within the Church.
father Stephen and Father Mark is welcome to stay within that Church but must respect the Holy Father and his Motu Proprio and if not then move to the LMB.
The Holy Father has said where we are as a Church so if they do not want to join us in love then they should leave as the Archbishop has a duty to the clergy and the lay faithful.

Further to this, I have a query: when a priest receives an envelope with his name on it containing cash given by a parishioner in return for “services rendered” (baptism, marriage, etc.) Does the money belong to the priest or is he expected to give it back to the church? Just curious…

The word sacrament means “a sign of the sacred,” which is fitting as they are all outwards signs from God to us. Not only are they signs, they’re also celebrations of a continued journey and relationship with God, teachings to help live out His word and ceremonies to show devotion to Him. You seem to take pleasure and laugh in disrespecting the faith for someone who claims to believe. I will not offer any advice as you have attacked all who have tried to help you previously.

Wrong. Did you do the sem course or BATheol or are you one of the new Killaloe catechists, lol?
The sacraments are not merely signs. Celebrated worthily in faith, the sacraments confer the grace that they signify. They are efficacious because in them Christ himself is at work: it is he who baptizes, he who acts in his sacraments in order to communicate the grace that each sacrament signifies. the Father always hears the prayer of his Son’s Church which, in the epiclesis of each sacrament, expresses her faith in the power of the Spirit. As fire transforms into itself everything it touches, so the Holy Spirit transforms into the divine life whatever is subjected to his power.
This is the meaning of the Church’s affirmation that the sacraments act ex opere operato (literally: “by the very fact of the action’s being performed”), i.e., by virtue of the saving work of Christ, accomplished once for all. It follows that “the sacrament is not wrought by the righteousness of either the celebrant or the recipient, but by the power of God.” From the moment that a sacrament is celebrated in accordance with the intention of the Church, the power of Christ and his Spirit acts in and through it, independently of the personal holiness of the minister. Nevertheless, the fruits of the sacraments also depend on the disposition of the one who receives them.
The Church affirms that for believers the sacraments of the New Covenant are necessary for salvation. “Sacramental grace” is the grace of the Holy Spirit, given by Christ and proper to each sacrament. The Spirit heals and transforms those who receive him by conforming them to the Son of God. The fruit of the sacramental life is that the Spirit of adoption makes the faithful partakers in the divine nature by uniting them in a living union with the only Son, the Saviour.

No, not wrong.
The word ‘sacrament’ comes from the Latin, ‘sacramentum’, which means ‘sign of the sacred’.
What signifies something (a sign) cannot, logically, be what it signifies.

Like

Who is this sub-BATheol person at 4.56?
According to the teaching of the Catholic Church, the sacraments of the Christian dispensation are not mere signs; they do not merely signify Divine grace, but in virtue of their Divine institution, they cause that grace in the souls of men. They are efficacious. “Signum sacro sanctum efficax gratiae” — a sacrosanct sign producing grace, is a good, succinct definition of a sacrament of the New Law. Sacrament, in its broadest acceptation, may be defined as an external sign of something sacred. In the twelfth century Peter Lombard (d. 1164), known as the Master of the Sentences, author of the manual of systematized theology, gave an accurate definition of a sacrament of the New Law: A sacrament is in such a manner an outward sign of inward grace that it bears its image (i.e. signifies or represents it) and is its cause — “Sacramentum proprie dicitur quod ita signum est gratiae Dei, ei invisibilis gratiae forma, ut ipsius imaginem gerat et causa existat” (IV Sent., d.I, n.2). This definition was adopted and perfected by the medieval Scholastics. From St. Thomas we have the short but very expressive definition: The sign of a sacred thing in so far as it sanctifies men – “Signum rei sacrae in quantum est sanctificans homines” (III.60.2).
To see a sacrament as merely a sign is a Protestant error, denounced by Trent.

Like

But is a sacrament a serviced rendered????? I’m howling 🤣🤣🤣🤣😅 What the theology on that?

Like

5.34
I’m afraid you’re wrong, too, about the sacraments (unless you are … as I believe … the poster at 3.40; in which case, you are wrong again).
Let me make a very plain argument for my case. If I confess to a priest, but am not in the least penitent, then the grace of reconciliation cannot come my way, because God will not force himself upon a resistant heart.
If I am forced, at shotgun point, to marry someone I do not love, then marital grace cannot come our way, because God will not force himself upon a resistant heart.
If I hate God, but am forced by my parents to accept Confirmation, then grace cannot come my way, because God will not force himself upon a resistant heart.
If I loathe God, but am forced to receive Communion, then grace cannot come my way, because God will not force himself upon a resistant heart.
Are we clear here?
So you, hopefully by now, see that the Sacraments may not, after all, even be a sign of anything sacred, in which cases they cease to be actual signs of the sacred and nothing more than empty rituals, signifying … well, absolutely nothing but a duped priest or bishop.
The only sacrament which could be declared a sign of the sacred in all cases is Baptism. I dont think there’d be any such resistance to grace in a tender baby, do you? But then, there is the absence of consent here, which, I believe, is crucial: consent is fundamental to the reception of grace, which I’ve already demonstrated. The Anabaptists were correct: only competent adults should be baptised, since only these can consent to Baptism.
So, despite all those grand references of yours to Catholic sources, the case you are making is demonstrated and utter nonsense.
The reception of grace hinges, solely, on every human being: not on any priest, or liturgical ritual.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary in Glasgow is not part of the ICKSP it is a diocesan parish however Mark Morris offers both Masses and he is a diocsan Priest.

Two situations in the Immaculate Heart of Mary with the Motu Proprio is that the priest is not allowed to say both Masses and futhermore it is Diocesan property.

It depends on what the particular diocesan policy is. Most dioceses allow the priest keep a portion, maybe €50/€70 and the rest goes to the parish account.

The archdiocese of St John’s in Newfoundland has been forced to sell pretty much every property including the cathedral, to pay compensation. If they want to keep them they’re having to buy them. This is brilliant.
Almost everything must be sold. Hundreds of properties from 34 parishes will be liquidated, including the towering Basilica of St. John the Baptist, the second-largest Catholic church in the country.
The Archdiocese of St. John’s faces a staggering bill — one that could top $50 million — to compensate survivors of sexual abuse at the former Mount Cashel Orphanage, one of the first major pedophilia scandals to rock the Roman Catholic Church in Canada.
The archdiocese doesn’t have the money. The Vatican isn’t stepping in to help. That means thousands of parishioners could soon lose the churches they thought they owned.

That is because the religious orders and police organised the entire affair that way, so the diocese which obviously knew it had been “set up” by them all along, was lying to parishioners. Dear +Pat

Your efforts for victims and honesty of conduct among some mentioned here remain a grace and blessing but calling the New Order of Mass or Novus Ordo Missae, the Vatican II Mass is misleading, and contrary to the intent of the Vincentian Mgsr Annibale Bugnini, essentially the deviser of the New Mass, who personally granted indults for the 1966 Missal freely and repeatedly and sought the extension of the Heenan or Agatha Christie indult of 1971 worldwide. Sadly for our present times, Pope Paul VI did not agree and only happened in 1984 after so much turmoil and upset. The New Mass as 99% of people experience is not in Latin, which Sacrosanctum Concilium repeatedly stated should be used, for instance in clause 36, 1. Particular law remaining in force, the use of the Latin language is to be preserved in the Latin rites.’ Cardinal Frings and Stickler were among those regretting their vote for the constitution as the final result was wholly at variance from the text they endorsed.

Your characterisation of the political motivation is not correct. Head the balls on Twitter and other social media matter not one bit. The faithful and their families have no concern for the eccentricities of a tiny element.

It certainly is a battle against use of Latin in the liturgy. A Costa Rican priest Father Sixto Eduardo Varela Santamaría who normally celebrated the Novus Ordo in Latin was suspended and sent for psychological treatment (https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/costa-rican-priest-suspended-sent-for-psychological-treatment-for-celebrating-latin-novus-ordo/). This has happened even before the crude and contradictory Traditionis Custodes and closely echoes the menaces used against whistle-blower priests who tried to report illegal, depraved conduct (ie sexual abuse) of a brother priest to his bishop, who should be as a responsible father is to his son. This is relevant as Fr James Martin SJ said priests and people interested in Latin could use and hear the Latin NOM. but this is incorrect. Latin NOM is in fact a more incendiary product for any priest, a greater danger to his dignity and person.

Cardinal Cupich actually sold the ICKSP their main church after it had burnt down and they had raised funds for its reconstruction. His conduct has been less than ethical, leaving aside how he was a long time Ted McCarrick client. The ICKSP could like IBP offer the Masses privately as IBP does in Chile and certain Brazilian dioceses. ICKSP know that relying on episcopal promises is unwise. They make sure to own what they use. Likely Cupich will not issue this edict as threatened.

Pat, I’m puzzled by your statements on this blog item.

1. There is the Vatican II Mass versus the Traditional Latin Mass. [It’s not, the Novus Ordo Missae is a committee job done by a disgraced conman, Bugnini. Read what the Council said it wanted].

A. Reject the Second Vatican Council. [You reject a lot of Vatican II, including its teaching on the role of the papacy].

B. Reject the Papacy of Francis. [That’s what you do, Pat. You don’t even pray for him in the Eucharistic Prayer].

I remember a priest (a total arsehole) who, in St Patrick’s in Clifton Street, used to raise the Gospel from the ambo and, in an arc, show it to the congreation while melodramatically proclaiming: ‘THIS- is – the- Gospel – of – the – Lord!’
He thought he was impressing, but we used to laugh at the self-promoting clown.

In First Divinity liturgy, we were told by the might Patrick McGoldrick that “This is the Gospel of the Lord” referred to the proclamation of it during Mass and was not a reference to the bound volume. Joseph Quigley: Birmingham Archdiocese saw abusive priest as ‘struggling’
BIRMINGHAM (UNITED KINGDOM) BBC [London, England] July 20, 2022.
” A priest who assaulted children was seen by his Archdiocese as “struggling” rather than abusive, a report found. Joseph Quigley, a former Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of Birmingham, was jailed last year.A report by Barnado’s found the church was aware of concerns but did not listen to victims, challenge his behaviour or deal with complaints.
The authors made 18 recommendations which the Archdiocese accepted in full. It apologised for its failures.”

Birmingham apologised – well bully for them.
Thing is, these reports, and weak apologies, don’t address the culture, the clerical culture, which is alive and kicking in Birmingham and a diocese with a deep seated and entrenched warped view of child abuse and protecting the perpetrator.
Quigley worked in the Dept of Education for years – they knew all about him and his predilections but did nothing.
They apologies, they will pay but they won’t change because it’s systemic to the clerical caste – Nursie knew this was coming and v likely will live out his days in Birmingham clearing up his own, Elsie’s and Couves errors of judgement.

The report says that the safeguarding officer was an ex-social worker who was unaware of the Children Act definition of a child as being under the age of 18. The ex-social worker consequently did not treat Quigley’s grooming of the victim “CD” from the age of 16 as being an abuse of authority over a vulnerable person, but merely as a relationship between two adult men, and the case wasn’t persued along those lines. The report rightly criticised that.

Dear readers of Pat’s blog, let us all remember the wise words of the Holy Father, Pope Francis (from September 6 2022 on the Sunday Gospel reading about Jesus telling his disciples what to do when a member of the community errs and requires correction): “The great gossiper is the devil, who always goes around recounting bad things about others, because he is the liar who seeks to divide the church, to distance brothers and sisters and not create community,” the pope said.
“Please, brothers and sisters, let us make an effort not to gossip,” he said. “Let’s try: no gossip.” Wise words indeed from the Holy Father.

Ah yes the blame the social worker – She/he has taken a pasting but here’s the thing: who was their line manager? Who was she accountable to? Did the buck stop with her or was there a chain of command – which they were happy to assert when it suited and happy to divest when it suited.
How come the line manager dodged all the bullets – answer must be line manager was a cleric or a bishop!!
And just so I’m clear – a man who makes a public declaration of celibacy has a sexual relationship with a 16 year old and the clerical powers that be – remind me who was her line manage – decide that nothing to report here!!
Mind blowing – by the way check out St Bernardo’s and their scrupulous record regarding child abuse and cover up.

The Dallas Charter Needs a Redo After 20 Years
COMMENTARY: In the intervening years since the U.S. bishops published the charter, we have learned there’s still a long way to go.
Janet E. Smith, Ph.D., is a retired professor of moral theology. July 19, 2022.
“There are various metrics by which one can judge the progress of the U.S. bishops in handling sex-abuse cases since the Dallas Charter, 20 years ago. The most obvious one is the number of cases of abuse reported to law enforcement and the Church. That metric is not without value but also can be misleading. As we know, victims almost always wait decades before reporting (after all, they were threatened minors when abused) and by that time they may not be inclined to open old wounds.”
