AN EMAIL TO PHONSIE THE TORMENTOR.

Dear Phonsie,

Over the past few days we have been dealing with your mistreatment and bullying of Father Richard Geoghegan on my blog: bishoppatbuckley.blog.

There are very few clerics on this island who will tell you to your face what they think of you.

But I am one who will!

You are a right wing and vicious episcopal bully. And like all bullies you bully people who are weak, sensitive and who cannot stand up to you.

It appears to me that you

1. May be a canonical Roman Catholic ( in the worse meaning of that term) but you are certainly not a Christian in any way.

2. That you have serious mental, emotional and psychosexual problems.

3. That you are simply a bully who needs to be tackled and brought down.

4. That you appear to enjoy inflicting hurt on people of all kinds and of all ages – especially vulnerable and weak people.

Your maltreatment of Father Geoghegan is despicable and dishonest. Richard always wanted to be a priest and you used a time of crisis in his life to walk all over him. Shame on you!

I do allow the right of reply on my blog and you are welcome to submit a reply for publication via bishopbuckley1@outlook.com

Add to that - your irrational outbursts on matter like the cervical cancer vaccination for girls, yoga and you bullying of people during church ceremonies - and the fact that you have young people living with you compound your absolute your unsuitability for either priesthood or episcopate.

Sincerely,

+ Pat Buckley

2.31 it appears that RCC failed to take a 360 degree view on risk assessments when they lowered their recruitment standards due to pressure on attracting vocations after well publicised revelations commencing with Bishop Eamon Casey & Fr Michael Cleary etc & so on. Fitzgerald might have passed the initiation exercises in his given newspaper interviews but unfortunately he went too far & lost the run of himself on appointment & here we are & not a dickey bird from his bosses & no written confirmation on whereabouts of several MIAs in Ireland. Not very respectful to the faithful IMHO. That’s the problem with mushroom management, eventually the shit rises like the proverbial Phoenix from the ashes covering up the crap 💩

4.47 two smiling charmers – Casey & Cleary, they fooled a lot of people for a very long time. Both used their powerful positions over weak & vulnerable that they targetted for personal gratification. I had one after abandoning the ministry for more than five years – entirely out of the blue. I wouldn’t participate in the process, but the bastards even emailed me at my place of work to accept papers. They were persistent.

Liked by 1 person

Really not being funny but just abandoning things tends to lead to that happening. If you just abandon a job you’ll get similar and it won’t take five years. Abandoned children tend to result in the father being pursued for support.
You can’t abandon your commitments and not expect other people involved to want you to finalize things. It’s called being a grown up.

Like

And if you abandon an abusive husband, would you expect to dance to their tune so they can have closure? The RCC is toxic and institutionally abusive, and anyone who disengages themselves from it should be applauded.

Liked by 1 person

10.11 Well said, you have nailed it, the RCC is institutionally abusive & this explains the attraction that it holds for the personalities attracted to its laity & clerical membership who persist in revictimizing & enabling the defence of the indefensible frequently in matters that they are not qualified in nor in any way authorised to be officially privy to but breach of confidentiality is commonplace by hierarchy handling complaints in the RCC in efforts to suppress truth and justice in support of their friends in high places. Elitist to the core is the RCC.

Like

10:11 You would be expected to sign the divorce papers.
The clerical urge to have everything your own way runs deep in you, ‘father’.

Like

3.16 pm. I’d sign divorce papers as I am subject to the state’s laws. I can’t voluntarily withdraw unless I make a domicile of choice elsewhere. The church has no legal authority in the UK, so any adherence to its laws and procedures is voluntarily made.

Like

Exactly, thanks, Bishop Pat. I finalised things the day I walked out and would not let them continue to have any authority over me by participating in their silly processes or signing papers. They have no legal status in the UK, and I was not employed by them as, technically, I was ‘self-employed. The RCC only has as much power over you as you’re prepared to give them.

7.01 that is a very serious allegation. If true, Fr Ger Fitzgerald should send a solicitors letter & furnish the names of his witnesses to same Solicitor in preparation for Trial. Making allegations of “private” harrassment against this lady will have to be backed up in Court with evidence & witnesses. It seems imprudent of Fr Fitzgerald to communicate serious allegations whilst many proven allegations against himself are unresolved and I understand some of these allegations to be the subject of a Garda enquiry.

9.47 like all lawyers & other business professionals, the Roman Catholic Church operates & benefits from carefully studied & structured implementations of manipulations of loopholes in the legal & other systems in jurisdictions. They are extremely competent if unethical in this regard when one considers their advertised role in society & extremely water tight legally as many a clergyman and others who fall foul of them will testify. Classifying priests as sub contractors basically means they have as little rights as a hod carrier on a day rate on a building site.

So, can you explain your statement on today’s blog about Bishop Cullinan, that he has ‘serious mental, emotional and psychosexual problems’?
Did you aquire, overnight, a professional qualification in psychiatry or psychology that enabled you to make such a comprehensive assessment of the bishop? And what evidence (medical evidence) have you for it?

I spoke the truth about Mulvihill: he hasn’t once substantiated even a single allegation of his on this pathetic blog. These can only have caused great distress to those affected by them, and to their families.

Mulvihill is a fool casting unsubstantiated and hurtful accusations, at will, and Pat Buckley, like a latterday Matthew Hopkins (the self-styled Witchfinder General, of the 17th century) believes that Mulvihill, the Village Idiot, ‘always’ tells the truth. It would be comical were it not for the fact that these fools, together, are hurting many people unnecessarily.

However, Pat Buckley, being a moral and intellectual coward, will not publish this, because his massive ego will not permit him to be outargued and upstaged.

You haven’t seen them take Mulvihill to court? Relevance?

This is a deflection from my earlier comment: that you cannot know whether Mulvihill’s unsubstantiated allegations, on your blog, against certain people did not destroy them. You said that Mulvihill had destroyed no one, and yet, you couldn’t possibly have known whether this was true, since you visited none of the individuals concerned to find out. In other words, you simply made up that comment.

By the way, it is a non sequitur to deduce, from a lack of court action, that an individual must, therefore, be guilty. Didn’t your barrister father tell you that civil action against a loose cannon like Mulvihill can be very expensive? Not everyone has that kind of money, Pat Buckley. Perhaps you do. In which case, you shouldn’t presume someone else’s lack of wealth as an indicator of guilt.

It is easy, cowardly, and cost-free for Mulvihill, facilitated by you Pat Buckley, to make serious allegations against someone, while knowing that they cannot hit back.

And it is easy for you as well, Pat Buckley, since you know very well that you cannot be trusted to keep your word on the right to an unedited reply on your blog. Not only have you edited my replies (and others), but you refused to publish some of them. For the record, not one of my replies was abusive in any way.

The laicisation document says that:
“It will be necessary for the Bishop to take care that any functions or services that may eventually be entrusted to him will not cause wonderment or scandal among the faithful.”
However many of the MIA end up as hospital chaplains. Indeed the Bons Secour seems to be an active recruiter of ex-priests. Does having ex-priests working as RE teachers, chaplains and lay staff in Maynooth and Trocaire nit cause wonderment and scandal? Why do lay people bother doing hospital chaplaincy courses if chaplaincy jobs are kept back for ex-priests and ex-deacons?

Like

2:08
Two points:
1. There are currently more women chaplains in Hospitals/Hospices/Prisons than men or ex-priests in Ireland.
2. When a priest leaves the priesthood their qualifications only apply to a small number of religious based positions, therefore canon law is illogical and redundant. Although the Bishop can withhold a letter of recommendation, the job is given based on the qualifications and interview by an impartial panel. The HSE/NHS/Civil Service cannot discriminate therefore many will not heed or tolerate the Bishops interference in the matter.
Fr. Richard Geoghegan should retrain and become a teacher or chaplain. If Bishop Phonsie interferes with Fr. Richard, he should bring him to court, win hundreds of thousands and sever any influence the Church has in state run institutions!

Why do so many priests leave after ordination? Their departure rate must be higher than the divorce rate but whereas the divorced are shunned and treated as second class citizens by the Church, ex-priests can just waltz into a different churchy-type job.
Are they letting the wrong people into seminary or approving for ordination those who are unsuited to priesthood or too immature, even at the minimum average ordination of 25, to take on priesthood?

Like

Both. And also when you are a seminarian your entire life is aimed at the summit of ordination. After ordination the reality that you’ve been sold a pup sinks in.

Like

The whole seminary system is based on dishonesty and duplicity. Guys hang on to show determination and win their ordination tickets – like they’re contestants on The Apprentice. A couple of years in, the reality of the priesthood and the toxic institution they’ve joined sets in. Some find release in homosexual activity and drink, Others get out whilst they can. What’s surprising are the numbers who abandon their faith all together and renounce the church.

Like

4.36 & 5.25 are spot on. A great deal of a seminarian’s focus is not on ministry, but on achieving the goal of ordination itself. A seminary is an assault course with ordination the end point, rather than ministry being the goal. Then, after a honeymoon period, post-ordination fatigue and disalutionment sets in.

I can’t remember whether it was Vincent Twomey or Paddy Corish (both were members of the Maynooth staff) who complained that much of the final year in Maynooth was taken up with deacons fussing about their ordination vestments and organising the big day, instead of using what was meant to be a pastoral year to get ready for service. Like a marriage, there needs to be less focus on the big day and more on life after it.

The contrast between the treatment of Catholics whose marriages fail and Catholics whose priesthoods fail, is a striking one. Ex-priests dust themselves down, start all over again, might get a settlement or an unadvertised job in some Church body. The divorced, meanwhile are persona non grata, and only Pat offers them a chance to start all over again.
