NEW ZEALAND STATEMENT FROM SURVIVORS ABUSED BY PRIESTS.

BAD BISHOPS AND HOW TO STOP THEM!

Surprisingly, good priests often become corrupt when they become bishops, and they seem to always get away with it.

Here are some reasons why bishops are able to exploit religious people and others to their advantage, and what to do about it.

  1. They play dirty and the public lets them get away with it.
  2. Because they are bishops, many people expect them to be good and holy and deal with us honestly. However, they don’t play by the rules. They promise truth and justice but lie and cover up abuse. That’s why so many are duped by them. They are like unscrupulous salespeople using Jesus’s values.

  3. WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT? Develop a healthy scepticism. Speak up and ask questions. Make sure you are being dealt with honestly.
  4. They understand power dynamics.
Because they are in authority, they understand that authority can give them a free ride. Because they are bishops, the public is often reluctant to question their authority. That’s why they move about with an air of authority and get away with criminal activity.
WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT? Question them! See through these bad guys hiding behind a thin veil of self-righteous holy authority.
  5. We are prone to the bystander effect.
Part of the problem is public tolerance for bad behaviour. Too often, we simply stand by when others have been abused, not wanting to get involved, expecting those in charge to act appropriately.
WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT? Challenge those in charge! Stand up to those who cover up abuse.
  6. We give them money and that enables them.
A major part of the problem is giving bishops money. They ask for money under the pretext of doing their charity work. But your money to the church is going to bishops to pay their lawyers to fight victims and survivors of clerical sexual abuse.
WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT? Stop giving them money.

These are just four ways to help stop bad bishops and make the world a better and safer place.

PAT SAYS

The New Zealander survivors give us good advice.

1 Question everything a n RCC bishop says.

2. Always challenge an RCC bishop.

3. Stand up to abusers and their cover uppers.

4. STOP giving them any money.

SCOTTISH PRIEST IN COURT FOR ABUSE

Bishop Pat,

You may recall in a previous email I mentioned the upcoming case against Fr Neil McGarritty of Glasgow.

He appeared today in court prior to his trail later this month.

He’s facing 6 charges against 4 separate girls including two 10 year olds.

Checkout bbc news Scotland.

There is a long back story of allegations over decades and cover up by 3 archbishops if you want further info.

Bishop Buckley,

You may remember I mentioned in a previous email the impending trial of Fr Neil McGarritty. He had his pleading diet this week past and his trial will begin this coming Wednesday at Glasgow Sheriff Court. (Details of victims, 2 aged 10, and six charges on bbc news Scotland)

He’s best friends of Fr Peter McGarvey of Donegal and of Derry Public Toilets Voyeur case.

YESTERDAY

Day 1 of Trial of Fr Neil McGarritty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court; testimony by 10yr old of grooming behavior, language and touching.

The public have had more than enough of this crap from Bishops shunting paedophiles and abusive clergy and their cohort around the world into unsuspecting local communities. There should be a universal law meaning that when one of these sickos are discovered in a Diocese, both his last Bishop that knowingly facilitated his transfer & the Bishop who knowingly received him be arrested themselves for complicit and deliberate endangerment. Maybe then these totally selfish & irresponsible Bishops will learn, because currently they are just carrying on regardless.

Like

I agree wholeheartedly with the advice or wisdom required when engaging with bishops, senior clergy or any clergy for that matter.
But bishops are a piece of work and dangerous.
I have met and dealt with many and their capacity to lie, obsfucate, obstruct, deceive is shocking.
IICSA was a masterclass at watching Elsie and Nursie twist and turn, squeal and skewer as counsel went after them.
I believe both men would lie under oath to save their own skin.
Elsie thought he was too clever by half and indeed dined out on saying how he was only getting into his stride whereas tge truth is he was being annihilated and destroyed on the stand as Cover Upper in Chief and couldn’t hide his contempt for the victims.
Nursie on the other hand had to confess that he didn’t write his letters to victims – the diocesan insurers did that. Awkward and Embarrassing.
Wouldn’t trust or touch with a barge pole.

And both of these two Archbishops are still in post. Of course, they will claim that the Pope wants them to stay in post as a cover excuse. But the truth is that if they had the slightest ounce of integrity they would resign and go in to prayer and penance in reparation for what they and their predecessors have reigned over. But they won’t. Nichols is clinging on for dear life, because he knows that when he does go he will be irrelevant, and for him that will be so painful. Longley is just a bit dim and thinks that a quiet life is a blameless life, and so he continues carrying on with his diocese crumbling beneath him but hasn’t got the wit or energy to really engage and make sure that it changes in to survival mode, which it needs to. Indeed, most bishops just sit in maintenance mode and want a quiet life.

Tom Deenihan has played dirty with his shoddy treatment of Dom Benedict Andersen and the public of the diocese of Meath have let him get away with it, so far.
Because Tom Deenihan is a bishop, many people expect him to be good and holy and deal with us honestly. However, he doesn’t play by the rules. Tom Deenihan is an unpleasant and vulgar person with severely limited discernment. Just look at all the ill advised individuals he has surrounded himself with in Meath and who his allies are in the Diocese. Read the gospels, you abject, arrant, and arch-fool!!!! Jesus EXCORIATES those like the men you would question in this servile, sentimental way. Read his expulsion of such men as these from the Temple precincts…with VIOLENCE!! With a whip he drove them out while overturning their tables heavy with mammon. He didn’t question them with soft, easy, loving, Christian words!!
As one who was sexually abused as a six-year-old, I wretched when I read your soft, forelock-tugging post. If anyone makes me angrier than the kiddie-fiddling romanist scum, it’s ‘soft Arthurs’, like you. Thank you for having the backbone to apologise.
I am the poster at 7.10, and I, too, apologise, for my harshness.
How to stop the abuse in the Church? It would help, greatly I believe, if priesthood were abolished, and, therefore, hierarchy with it, a power imbalance that has significantly facilitated the rape of little children by priests and bishops.
I believe priesthood an institution NOT established by Christ, and not wanted by him either. It is a Trojan Horse for evil, bringing into the Church, down the centuries, the vilest forms of sin,
especially the rape of children by priests and bishops, and its cover up by priests and bishops, including a long succession of popes. In fact, one Pope, Benedict XVI, has already admitted this: ‘It is we (priests) who have brought all this filth into the Church.’
Abolishing priesthood is an absolutely necessary first step. Refusal to face this by anyone is a failure to take the sexual abuse of children in the Church with anything near the seriousness it demands.

Some priests are afraid of their own Bishop especially the good ones. Bishop power to sack any priest in question if their face doesn’t fit it which is all the rage now in USA.
Also good lay people who doesn’t raise their voice re wrong doings. It’s a Christian duty to correct their Bishop and amend it.
TD is another example of why we don’t trust him cos of his silence, non responses, he doesn’t give a damn about it, brass neck et al. It’s all about trust and two way street which he isn’t doing it at all whatsoever.
To be honest with you, I didn’t think he’s a suitable one for any bishopric post. But on the other hand, yes suitable in the eyes of the vatican curia. That’s where we differ cos we aren’t on the same page. The Vatican getting more more exposed as time goes by re cocaine party inside the Vatican.
I would fire him on the spot re his appalling treatment of Dom Anderson. What I couldn’t understand was that DM didn’t raise his protest except for an article in pillar Catholic. He should expose TD at earliest opportunity with maximum force.
Noticed his eyes which tells us that’s he’s quite ambitious for the next prize which is Archbishopric job.

Last night I watched two Australian 60 Minute Reports, one on a sexual abuse scandal at an exclusive Anglican School for Girls and the other about sexual abuse in the Hillsong Evangelical (Music) Community. A third Report focused on the infamous case of a Frenchman, Mr. Marie who, as a modelling agency owner, abused several 16/17 year old girls. The modus operandi in all 3 was precisely the same pattern as in the Catholic Church’s litany of abuses: denial: cover up: secret payments: omerta. In the school situation a former Anglican bishop who became governor general of Australia, lost his post after finally admitting he got it very wrong by his reckless response to the school’s abuse horrors while under his patronage. A very sordid story. All 3 Reports show the same pattern as we found and find in the Catholic Church. Utterly careless and reckless responses, all designed to protect the institutions or the “brand” of Christianity, which, in almost all cases of sexual, criminal behaviour was and is totally anathema to what a Christ-person would and must do or any decent human being: stand with and by the victims/survivors: defend TRUTH and ENSURE SEEK CIVIL JUSTICE. There has to be a charter for l institutions run by Churches and ither agencies. The manipulators and cover up meechants will always find loopholes. But all perpetrators must be apprehended, brought to civil courts and churches must be required in law to compensate survivors.

Redress board in Ireland is a quite joke which I made an application on the basis of two dead schools named in a list of institutions named in Ryan report and other govt reports as well.
Money doesn’t erase PTSD memories for good which is the problem. Money doesn’t represent the true value of what we experienced it as an abused victim.
People who sat on redress board such as solicitor, psychiatrist, barrister et al who went out to minimise my story and everything in it. Their real intention was to minimise everything and offer little in terms of money.its a real scandal that govt aren’t talking about it.
Cos my mobile was bugged, followed during the months leading up to it. Irish FF FG govt was descipable in this whole thing.
My instinct was to reject it flatly. It was only months later, more bugging on mobile cos I didn’t understand the sounds of it where a relative recognised it as bugged, email hacked etc. It was dirty tricks par excellence.
My barrister recognised it as well. Also they recognised it that they were minimising my story as a whole. Its simply open and shut case. Psych who gave their assessment on me, a classic case of pstd, sexually abused whose memory relied on faces but not on names etc. Re reading of my psych case report has helped me to understand myself more now cos I didn’t understand it at first a decade ago.
First school deaf boys was sort of evil thing. One nun superior which we thought was descipable and evil. They as nuns denied the whole thing was normal for them, not very christian etc as they were in for the money in the first place. Now they are millionaires after selling their lands to developers whose apartments are sitting on (stillorgan).
2nd school which is St Joseph’s cabra, cbs and Bishop of Dublin accepted lt as such as they apologised it as well which was set out in their letter at a redress board hearing.
Feel redress board in North irelland might be a whitewash, basing on my experience of redress board in Ireland.

Cos I wasn’t allowed to say my piece, just let barrister and partner of legal firm say their piece in front of a appeal board which was stuffed with ex judge, ex senior counsels, plus FG TD that time (now govt minister).
It left me a very bad taste cos FG govt minister (was then a td that time) observing the whole proceedings.

This one hasn’t had that much coverage in English language media:

A German prelate who served as bishop in Ecuador is not only accused of having sexually abused minors in several countries. As director of a German aid organization he also helped pedophile priests wanted by authorities escape prosecution, according to an independent investigation published Monday.

The late Bishop Emil Stehle (1926-2017) — known in Latin America as Emilio Lorenzo Stehle — has been accused of sexual abuse in 16 cases, a statement by the German Bishops’ Conference said on Aug. 8.

Furthermore, Stehle, the head of Adveniat, the Church in Germany’s aid organization for Latin America, was found to have helped priests evade authorities by facilitating their escape to Latin American countries. The investigation found that he also provided the alleged perpetrators with financial support, using money from the German Bishops’ Conference.

3.32pm: I could tell tales about housekeepers. I had a housekeeper, who actually came with the house, but was a cheat, dishonest and a thief. I had difficulty displacing her and she got nasty when I gave her notice. She was most untrustworthy. I never had any housekeeper since nor do I believe in having a “housekeeper”. Only had her because she had been there for years irrespective of the incumbent. In same parish another priest had a housekeeper for years who literally ran his life. She had a habit of watching everything in the parish and reported to the P. P. regularly. Sadly this housekeeper hadn’t a soul in the world and made her impact as a formidable lady about the parish. Another housekeeper in another parish used to tell me about visitors and parties in the presbytery where she worked. She too “gossiped” about him all over the place. I’ve always thought that having a housekeeper was an abuse of women and in many presbyteries, that was the reality. We can look after ourselves domestically. So, housekeepers, beware of telling fibs!! You’ve done well as housekeepers…Maybe not. I worked with a P.P. once who was the kindest I ever worked with. When he had to go into a nursing home, he made provisions for his housekeeper of 23 years. She was superb. She ended her days in a beautiful nursing home, much of it paid for by her P. P. and his family.

8.11: Apart from the trouble I had frim my hoysekeeper, I gave always believed it was an abuse of women. I preferred women to have more relevant roles in the parish at the level of management, creativity, decision making…not skivying at kitchen sinks! Thankfully I was blessed to have fulfilled my vision for women. I can’t imagine you have noble ideas of womanhood!!

It’s Trial ya numpty, not trail, McGarrity was PP in Riddrie & Cartyne in the Eastend of the city, why would he be listed as a school chaplain at St Bernards in South Nitshill miles away.
Who would want to go to court except a nosy bollox like you even knowing the dates! I can just see you sitting in the gallery like Bette Davis with your black Pillbox hat and eyepatch taking it all in, and itching to spread the outcome to all and sundry.😏

6.54 Who cares how his name is spelt, more concerned on what this priest is alleged to have done to the school kids. Court reports will be in newspapers no doubt.

9.07 Now, now. Stop your bitch Queen comments to Canon Todd. What gives you the right to insult him? Unless, of course, you are one of the posse in Wild West-bourne. Poor Mr. Bannatyne must be turning over in his grave. Pls tell Fintan that he should correct the man’s name on his blog piece. It is Bannatyne, not Bannantyne and I am fairly certain that his first name was Alexander, not Rodger 😇.https://www.killaloediocese.ie/westbourne-a-house-with-history-clare-champion-article-no-19/

7.31 Canon Todd, what did you mean when you wrote “A.N. Other Woman”? Are those someone’s initials or was it an abbreviation?

Like

@ 11.48 the initials mean ‘an’. Literally another person. It isnt somebody’s actual initials.
