Nowadays I only look at Robert Nugent’s videos if someone alerts me about them.
A relatively young gay and partnered teacher alerted me the other day to the video above.
This was the alert I received.

My informant is quoting a line from the video:
“Just don’t stick things where they don’t belong”.
I think without intending to, Robert, has given us an insight into his real thinking and latent homophobia.
He begins by saying that he is not homophobic and that he gas gay friends and then gets really homophobic.
It’s like the N. Ireland prods saying” I have friends who are Catholic”.
He is saying:
Don’t stick your penis into another man’s anus”.
He goes on to equate gay men to farmyard animals – lambs that turn into dangerous rams.
He says that that gay men interfere with nature and nature pays them back –
– with STI’s, HIV, AIDS, Monkeypox etc.
And implies that on top of that that these human farm yard animals are also going to Hell.
Ot seems to me that Robert is trying jard to be very CATHOLIC but has no interest in being a CHRISTIAN.
And by Catholic he means that we should be feeding every child in Ireland the Catholic Catechism for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And that all Irish Catholics should be attending only Latin Masses and receiving Communion kneeling and with their tongue stuck out.
It makes me wonder if Robert himself is either a repressed homosexual or bisexual – and maybe secretly desires a penis inside his own anus?
“Me think the man protesteth too much”.
There are Catholic men like that out there you know.
And his completely ignores the well established fact that man straight married and unmarried couples practice anal sex as part of their sex life.
OVERHEARD FROM ROOM 220 IN A MAYO HOTEL:
Mary: “Paddy will you be my ram tonight”?
Paddy: “I will Mary, will you be my yew”.
Afterwords ……both fall asleep to Daniel O Donnell singing:
“There’ll never be another yew”

AND

Eamon, you keep a quare few “B’s” yourself 😀

Too much of anything is bad for a person, Robert seems to be obsessed and addicted to the Catholic Church in a very unhealthy way. And in a rigid way, Latin Mass is superior, communion is best received kneeling down and on the tongue. He seems like a nice guy but it can’t be healthy thinking so much about the Catholic Church that he can put out a video every day about it. Fanaticism is not really healthy for the mind or the souls. And regards homophobia, it doesn’t do him any favours comparing gay people to farm animals, its really offensive

I have watched many of Robert’s videos on you tube. At first I thought he was spiritually and theologically good and interesting. The more I watched, the more I cringed. In his world there is only black or white, no shades in between. There is no room for sexual embrace or expression except in a pure and committed relationship. There is no mass to save us but the Latin Mass. The only way to receive Holy Communion is with a pure heart and clean tongue. Richard has sfooted the most strident, extremist form of preaching to evangelize. His LGBTQI radar is a violence against hundreds. Some of his videos of Transmen and Transwomen flspping up and down American Churches proclaiming their presence to children, scantily clad is a total charade and an abuse of those children… He is right to question this behaviour. Robert has done s a series on Whos Who among the electoral college to elect a new pope. He frequently showsnvidrosbofntje Spanish/French Camino he’s completed with his son. Pilgtimaged to Knock, Lourdes, Fatima and to Medujorge are essential journeys for devout Christians. Lough Derg and Croagh Pattrick the penultimate PILGRIMAGES. Robert is zealous all the way through, his little son and daughter seen in some discomfort in blazing hot sun..It’s the certainty of his teachings that will ruin him and a potentiality good group of openimded men centred on Jesus alone..In Robert’s woorld view we are on the road to perdition..

I don’t like this man. What came through most of all for me was his preachy arrogance: I’m the guru here; I know it all; you are my listeners and must not speak.
I recall the last time Nugent featured on the blog. A Protestant contributor called him out over something, and Nugent was not polite about it. Certainly not Christian. Most of all, he did not answer the contributor. There was a petulance and irrascibility in his manner. Nugent does not tolerate criticism well.
As for going against nature, if you take sick and need surgery, this, too, is going against nature. So, are there any adverse consequences? I had appendicitus when I was five; this was nature at work. Had I not had the required surgery, I would have died. Taking sick is part of our nature. Should we, then, just let nature take its course and not allow ourselves to prevent it?
Homosexuality is part of nature, too. It is commonplace in the animal kingdom among, for example, dogs, lions, zebras, horses, even swans. Robert might call this disordered nature, but whatever you choose to call it, it IS nature.
As for having a chummy chat with a ghostly nun on a mountainside only to be joined by God Almighty himself … Sweet …..! This man is off his rocker.

Only watched the first video. He touched his left nostril with his right hand twice while talking about STIs. Seven percent of communication is verbal. His use of the camera and the available body language as a result is for a reason, however unconscious. The stuff about mystical experiences is alarming. Robert, gay sex is a mystical experience, perhaps you know that, perhaps you don’t. I presume most heterosexuals have experienced the mystical in their sex lives at some point or many. One of the big questions in science at this time is what you refer to as ‘free will.’ There is the theory that there is nothing free about our will whatsoever….it will be explored for the next few decades and more. You seem so sure about everything, that is regrettable particularly about gay people…yet you are not one of them ? Is that rational ? WM

Whether people like it or not, there is a natural reproductive order of man and woman. That should be a fair opinion to express.
Love people, not things; use things, not people.
Preaching of the natural reproductive order and respect for the genuine love of the LGBT community can coexist.
If people of the same gender love each other, it’s not my place to judge them.

I’m not a medical expert but I think it’s generally accepted that consensual sexual activity between adults is normal and HEALTHY.
I would imagine that the best way of experiencing sex is within a monogamous relationship and there are profound biological, sociological, anthropological etc reasons why society would prioritise monogamous heterosexual relationships. Having said that we should be teaching, our young adults in particular, that while monogamy is a good thing, it’s possible to enjoy good sex with multiple partners – just be safe, use contraception, respect your sexual partner and above all enjoy it.

This video is rambling and probably only makes sense in Robert’s head.
He claims he’s not making any generalisations before launching into massive generalisations.
He generalises about the LBTG+ community without acknowledging that the hetro world is as promiscuous as the ‘gay’ world. And news flash, Robert – men and women in the ‘straight world’ enjoy anal sex too.
I’d really like to have a chat with just one of Robert’s ‘very dear friends’ and ask them what they feel and think about his views. Is it possible to have ‘very dear friends’ who think that your lifestyle is an abomination? Ok, he doesn’t use that word but he might as well have.
On many of his videos he piously says “I don’t want to judge” ( he’s so good 🙄) before judging left, right and centre. Don’t apologise, Robert for judging. It’s ok. We all do it. Just be prepared to be challenged on those judgements.

Yes, I agree with you. As a gay man in a 33 year long relationship, I have people in my life (and I’m thinking of one ardent Catholic with links to the hierarchy but there are others) who count themselves close friends but despite their own lives not being in conformity with Church teaching on marriage, would say my husband and I are going to Hell on the basis of what they believe we are or are not getting up to in the bedroom. After 33 years, the answer is a cup of tea before a book and lights out. Honestly their presumption is amazing. Such people may count themselves friends, and for the sake of a quiet life, I tolerate them, try to be kind and helpful, listen to their problems and offer what support I can. But do I count them a friend? I’m afraid the relationship goes to a certain point but there can never be any trust or confidence on my part and I think constantly of Pharisees, talking about and enforcing “the Law” but without an ounce of compassion or willingness to journey with people on their lives as they are. Some Christians, I’m afraid, consider themselves terribly supportive and claim they are tolerant and non-judgemental. They are the worst as they are often patronising, false and think you’re too thick to realise what they are really like.
We all judge others, no matter how hard on occasion we try not to. Ultimately, God made me, He’s the only one who fully knows me, and He is the only one whose judgement of my life counts. I’ll wait and see what He says on judgement day after I’ve lived my life as best as I can. I suspect He will be infinitely more loving, understanding and compassionate than the vast majority of those He created … including myself. I doubt He will have kept a register of my life and actions referenced against the Catechism and some of the nonsense there. And before I’m denounced, or told to become an Anglican, it’s my choice, my conscience and frankly my right to be “wrong”.

Pat, just curious to know if you spoke with RN recently? I may have drawn your attention some time back to his videos but undoubtedly you’ve seen some of them. They are developing into his battle to save the Catholic Church from damnation, his rage vented against all modern liturgical renewal and changes. In this respect he has some worthwhile and truthful observations to make. He frequently makes judgments about Bishops and priests, mostly on their moral, pastoral and spiritual failings. Again, some of his criticisms are legitimate. Without realising it, Robert, while asserting the doctrines of the “faith” makes homophobic statements, is intolerant of anyone and anything that doesnt resonate with his views, asserts aggressively his rightness on all issues. The notion that you’ll get your message across better by screaming into a screen is very off putting. During last Holy Thursday, Robert went to the cathedral in Ballina to secretly film the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. He then used footage on his You Tube to mock, sneer at, condemn, ridicule and judge the entire Mass as a shambles. That sneaking into a cathedral for this purpose alone was deceitful, cunning and dishonourable. Ever since, I take him with a grain of salt. It amazes me the long hours daily he sits at his camera!! All apoplectic with rage, rarely praise, unless you’re a fan of TLM.

If you want a real laugh watch a few minutes of his “profiles” of the Cardinals who will elect the next Pope. These videos consist of him reading from existing online profiles/CVs, stumbling his way through English words of more than three syllables, demonstrating zero ability to pronounce (much less understand) Latin – which apparently matters so much to Robert – and then drawing conclusions about these men.
The only conclusion to be drawn from watching any of these videos is that Robert is a woefully under-educated, self-promoting, bombastic zealot drawn to the apparent certainties of right-wing restorationist Catholicism because of the chaos in his own (inner?) life. And his upbringing.

The cultists’ dream of reproducing until there is standing room only, in addition to being guaranteed to cause famine and death, is likely to increase homosexuality and infertility. If they’d been listening at school they would have found that nature has negative and positive feedback loops, and is always aiming towards homeostasis. As the comment above points out homosexuality is frequently found in nature (despite the cult’s pretend natural law) so increasing the population beyond its current unsustainable levels is also guaranteed to push the world into trying to prevent further reproduction. Famines, obviously, but I would put money on nature turning very very gay indeed.

I am not being facetious, but isn’t it terribly uncomfortable? Anal sex?
Some years ago, I had to undergo a rigid sigmoidoscopy. An investigation for cancer or polypops, I believe, in that area of the bowel. Now I know that a sigmoidoscooy isn’t anal intercourse, but bear with me.
I was opened up and, first, one camera, and, then, another were inserted you-know-where. Not painful at all; no, absolutely not. But uncomfortable? You bet. (And how!😨)
At those moments (no accounting for such thoughts at such times, I’m afraid), my mind turned to … anal sex of all things. I kid you not a bit. Lock and load! I wondered: how the hell can gay men tolerate this?! This kind of bodily invasion?!
During the procedure, a nurse patted my head, and smilingly assured me: ‘You’re doing very well.’ And afterwards, the Registrar, highly impressed, congratulated me: ‘I can’t believe how well you tolerated that!’ What neither of them knew … I was screaming inside, mostly the holy name: ‘Jesus!’ ‘JESUS!’
I was eventually given the all-clear.

He needs to be challenged on the substantive issues he raises but not in the very ugly, intrusive, personalised way as is happening. That’s unacceptable, frightening for his family and is not the direction your blog should take today. It happened yesterday with Bill. I hope Robert withstands the venom, judgments, attacks and twisted snide remarks. I find Robert’s preaching most irritating and erratic. He’s entitled to his views and Catholicism but his analysis of issues is too black and white.

Like mcalleese an other liberal lefty types I wonder what the hell are they doing in the catholic church. 12.53: That’s a very simplistic theory and is very insulting. There’s no intelligent or academic foundation to your assertion. It’s simply your theory. It’s a false narrative. Go and read psychology and psychiatry journals on the topics of human sexuality and of being gay. All of us discover difficult and challenging truths about ourselves as we go through life. Some truths may be unpalatable and awkward to speak about, others may take a life time to adjust to. One is only a priest after ordination!! How then can “cowardly priests become priests…”? Irrespective, I admire the true sacrificial love between a committed couple, whatever their relationship is. It is true that any priest (or any of us) can fall into an unhealthy life style of all hues. Remaining in nourishing and affirming connectivity with others, men and women, is imperative. But….you wouldn’t understand the psychology or dynamics?

@05:24 +Pat, Pope Joan is a late mediaeval legend, resurrected by some Protestants to malign the Holy Faith, but also refuted by a Seiss Calvinist who cared for evidence.. Potentially it might have a slight basis in the lusty John XII who had a fatal interest in married women, for one final occasion either his heart gave way while over exerting himself with some man’s life or he was defenestrated by the angry husband, and killed by the fall, but the sources of the legend do not remotely go as far back as the 10th century and the Saeculum Obscurum.

Lots of talk on the blog today about abortion. I had an abortion over 20 years ago. I regret what I did, but at the time it seemed the only option. I believe in the sanctity of life, but abortion is ultimately a woman’s personal choice. I told the priest named Fr Ger Fitzgerald in Castleconnell about the abortion and that I felt guilt & shame over it. A few days ago, I discovered from an unpublished message sent to Pat that Fr Ger shared that personal information with his Junta. You have no power over me Ger & minions!
LikeLike
First of all if abortion was right for you were right to do it. I am entirely pro-choice. Men in general and clergy in particular have no business in this area full stop.
Secondly it is beyond unbelievable that Ger Fitzgerald and his trolls have done this. It is quite possibly criminal and certainly an absolute disgrace. You have my utmost sympathy.
Ger F – funny enough only the other day I was looking at the edition of An Caislean (the Castleconnell yearly journal). It was the one with the spread on you being ordained. Fr Minogue didnt look one bit happy in the photos: was it he who opposed your ordination? Ger your antics have left trail of destruction throughout the diocese. Its time to stop, now.

8.35 it is truly disgraceful that Fr Ger Fitzgerald breached your privacy. I don’t walk in your shoes, no one can judge. I completely fail to understand what he might have sought to gain from divulging this to +Pat. Lodge a formal complaint with the relevant authorities if he is on payroll etc. Take care.

Too much personal information Karen, why does everyone on the blog need intimate details of your life. Is it an attention thing as Bishop Pat talks about Robert Nugent and you just slip in that you had an abortion? No context, except someone told Bishop Pat and he has not published the correspondence. I live in the Diocese of Killaloe and I can tell you categorically that no member of the clergy cares or supports Ger. Nobody wants power over you, that’s in your head. Enough is enough.

9.03: A ridiculous argument. The CHILD in the womb needs voices of protection. If a new born baby is abandoned, as has happened, sadly, is it only the responsibility a female to respond or decide what happens? If a little new born is harmed, as has also happened, the law decides that the perpetrator should be found guilty of the crime. What’s the difference between a 24 or 34 or 36 week old baby in the womb and a baby born for one hour? Whose life is the most precious? Is the geography of the whereabouts of an innocent baby a determinant factor in deciding the dignity and sanctify of human being ? All life is SACRED and the protection of the unborn is a human rights issue, not just a pro choice issue. That’s why many, many men are anti abortion.

10.25 I am forgiven for my grievous sin by the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. I am forgiven. Leave your condemnation of me at the door to Paradise. Then Jesus told this story to some who had great confidence in their own righteousness and scorned everyone else: “Two men went to the Temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a despised tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer: ‘I thank you, God, that I am not like other people—cheaters, sinners, adulterers. I’m certainly not like that tax collector! I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’
“But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’ I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
