ARE IRISH BISHOPS HAVING GAY SEX?

SEAMUS FREEMAN – RETIRED BISHOP OF OSSORY and RIP

From former Maynooth seminarian.

(Whom I know and have met)

I did not get this story confirmed in writing until yesterday 26th August at 5 pm.

” I was in the Pleasuredome, a London sauna under the railway arches in Waterloo and open 24 hours.

This was around 6 or 7 years ago.

It was very late, around 3 or 4 am.

I was in a cubicle sitting back, naked, with my ass sticking out. An invitation for a top to come and do his thing.

This older guy appeared, removed his towel and displayed a big hard xxxx

He tried to come in to f… me but I waved him away.

I was stunned because I recognised him as Seamus Freeman.

At the time I lived in co Kilkenny and was familiar with his face in newspapers and online.

I had also met him in Rome years earlier when he was superior general of the Pallotines. So I knew the face well”.

PAT SAYS

Reports about Seamus Freeman have been circulating in clerical circled for years.

We know from Bishop Eamon Casey – 1992 – that Irish bishops have sex and father children.

Hence the surname – Mc Anespie – the son of the bishop.

Mc Enteggart – the son of the priest.

Mc Nabb – the son of the abbot.

We know from the above written testimony that Irish bishops have gay sex.

There are some 40 Irish bishops living and retired.

I have reliable reports that at least 4, if not more, Irish bishops have been or are actively gay – and others gay and not active.

I would expect the number to be higher than 4.

Could that at least partially explain how tolerant bishops are of actively gay?

Could that partially explain so many Irish bishops supported Maynooth after the gay Summer of Love in 2016?

AND FOR READERS WHO WANT TO GO BANANAS ABOUT BISHOP FREEMANJUST DECEASED

1. I’m sure he has had any sins he committed forgiven and is in Heaven.

2. The story is very important in establishing the whole truth about the Irish Church.

One strongly suspects that this particular phenomenon accounts for episcopal inaction in this blog’s two most infamous monastic sagas.

The non offending clergy are working overtime to facilitate offending clergy & using their influence with individual members authorities sympathetic but without a wider sense of responsibility to the public.

Although I could be wrong there. I’m hetreo as I could pick up wrong signals but ex gay friend very accurate re gay radar. He have had sex with priests in a sauna not far from whitefriar Church. Think it’s gone by now cos it took place in very early 1990s or 1989s. I was astonished to hear that cos I thought it wasn’t possible at that time. Some 30 years ago as I realised now that I was quite naive re rcc and their gay priests etc.

Its the Dominicans that sems are going there cos of their Latin rite instead of the diocesan one plus they are bit receptive to same sex.
Clampdown of TLM had some sems go to the Dominicans was one of few factors.

Was Hugh Connolly a man of integrity? If a seminarian reported two seminarians for wrongdoing, Hugh Connolly will have been thankful for the innocent seminarian’s honesty?

A question for Phonsie and Tom? Phonsie’s support of the wayward abbot was embarrassing. Tom’s mistreatment of Dom Benedict Andersen then is very concerning.
Tom has become a bishop since the summer scandal of 2016. Tom has shown that no lessons have been learned. Are diocesan secretaries adept at minimising scandal? Is this the prerequisite of earning a mitre?

May God be merciful to the late Bishop Freeman. The former seminarian tells a rather sordid, x rated, pornographic and slutty story. What can we believe? Why, if “probably” 6/7 years ago – very recent – did this former seminarian not say anything? Perhaps he’s guilty more about his own depraved behaviour, which as described is utterly debauched, reckless and filthy. The mind boggles at his casual attitude and could it be that he picked up some infection or disease for making himself a piece of meat for total strangers to do what they liked to him? If the Deceased Bishop wasn’t allowed to “do him” (which he’d have allowed “if” he “didnt” recognise him) how many strangers did he invite in to his exposed ****?. This man doesn’t deserve any sympathy. I hope this promiscuous saddo seeks repentance. God have mercy on the soul of the late Bishop. Pat,.Ensure 100% that you have all facts correct and that they can be validated.

Like

@7.22am There’s nothing in the text printed by Pat suggesting that the former seminarian wants any sympathy. It sounds as if he’s quite happy with his sex life.
People on the blog should really stop going on about infection and disease. It smacks of fear mongering and punishment. No moral code can be built on fear. We should know that by now in Ireland. It’s been tried and failed miserably.
The wonders of modern medicine mean that all these infections can be cured or managed. The problems arise when sexually active men and women don’t go for STI screenings. Then syphilis, etc have the time to get very nasty.
Syphilis is easily treated with two jabs of penicillin in the bum. Gonnorhea, Chlamydia, etc. are easily treated with other antibiotics. HIV can be managed very well with modern anti retroviral therapy. And most young gay men are now on PREP which prevents infection.
If you check aidsmap.com their latest bulletins report on trials that have demonstrated that a dose of 6 injections in a year prevents HIV infection. Another trial demonstrated that if people take Doxycycline after unprotected sex, the chances of catching an STI decrease by 66%.
So, thanks to medicine people can enjoy sex fully and deal with any problems easily. It really is the Garden of Earthly Delights out there now.

Like

Flurry gin, your comment about sexual health is either ill informed or irresponsible.
STIs are becoming increasingly difficult to treat and resistant to antibiotics, which are becoming less effective across the board through over use. There will certainly come strains which are impossible to treat.
To prevent transmission by penetrative sex the only way is condoms, which still leaves a risk of lice and any other disease transmitted in close contact, currently monkey pox.
It is wildly irresponsible to minimize the risk of STIs.

Jesus didn’t intend church sacraments: not neglecting bread breaking meant communing with the meaning of the Jewish religion prior to 130 AD. (This is more pointed for Romans than for independents like Bp Pat.)
When anyone is minded to examine actual Biblical meanings and not before, the relevance of situational chastity will appear. This has got nothing to do with claiming superiority.
Marriages never belonged to any religion in God’s eyes.

I don’t think people are judging. I think people, myself included, are simply surprised that men would literally offer up their ass like that. It is extremely dangerous and unhealthy. Modern medicine rescues the misfortunate ill, you are not supposed to be feckless and get every infection going simply because there’s a cure. You argument also assumes 100% screening compliance from these careless clerics which is 100% not going to happen. It should also be noted the increase in bacterial resistance to antibiotics and their overuse to deal with syphillis is someday going to backfire. Nobody is denying anyone’s right to ”Earthly Delights” but people have a responsibility to themselves and others not to be sharing these kind of infections around willy nilly.

@11.05am I don’t claim to be a doctor and I agree with you about aggressive strains of infections and failing antibiotics. But the majority of men who have sex with men receive treatment for infections and they are cured. That’s a fact! There will always be exceptions, people with other health problems and already weak immune systems. I’m thinking in what I said about your average healthy guy.

You see, you are back to scare tactics. They don’t work. The reality is that condoms are gone out the door for most men who go to saunas all over Europe and North America. That’s one of the beauties of Prep.
You may not like it but that’s the way it’s gone for most men under 40.
You know life is risky! You might get knocked down by a car this afternoon and no number of condoms on your head will spare you.

@11.14am Sex with strangers is wonderful. No complications or expectations after. It enables one to focus on the hic et nunc, the intense pleasure derived from another male body and the intense pleasure given to the other.
You are stuck in an old fashioned Catholic or Christian approach that can’t let go of the baby making aspect or the love aspect.
The truth of relationships is that two people get bored of sex with each other after around a month. That doesn’t mean that they don’t love each other.
There’s a lot of deep sense in separating love and sex. Great, if you’re the small minority who don’t get bored by the same penis or vagina day in day out. I’m happy for you.
But I have the love of my life and that relationship is rock solid but gone past the sexual stage. I go elsewhere for physical sex and get it in abundance, such variety, Bosch ‘s Garden of Earthly Delights!

In his early years in Dublin as he trawled through the files ( he used two seperate companies and transgressed the law of the land and the rights of every priest in Dublin in doing so…no bother to an Archbishop anywhere ) of the clergy and dealt with the dross and those in prison, he was visiting a primary school in his Archdiocese. He arrived early , he asked the principal to take him into a classroom of 8 year olds. The Archbishop and the Principal made the visit. When they came out of the classroom, Dermot Martin, visibly moved/upset told the Principal why he had asked him to bring him to that classroom: he had been dealing in recent days with the file of priest who had raped 28 eight year olds. It is a sad and appalling story, but in that instance he was to be sympathised with: what toxicity in the RCC. William Mulvihill

Wrong, 12.17.

Historically, there has long been an Irish (or Celtic) Catholic Church with an identity, and liturgical rite and custom, that differentiated it from the mainstream Church. For example, in 644 AD the primary disagreement between the Celtic Church, and Rome, was the liturgical date of Easter: the latter celebrated it earler than the former, and the former was not happy about it. A protesting foot was put down, the former’s, and the matter was resolved in Whitby the same year, when the King of Northumbria, by consent between both Celtic and Roman parties, arbitrated on the matter. Previously pro-Celtic rite, the king turned pro-Roman, quite possibly to keep his wife happy (and his life carefree), not Rome, since she already favoured that party.

But who cares whether a blood test can tell that you’ve had Syphilis unless the information were to be divulged. It’s not going to be found in a blood test unless they are looking for it specifically.

A lot goes back to Gaeta! Of a later vintage, we can place Michael Smith, Sean Brady, Bill Murphy there. My elderly priest informant even put all this in writing to me in a letter. Given his age he didn’t approach homosexuality directly. He dropped hints and leading comments. I know others know about this too. There are secrets from Gaeta that must be kept to avoid mutually assured destruction.

And what about the Archbishop of Cashel and Emly? Is he gay? His advice to priests “shitting on their own doorstep” if you’ll forgive the expression on Dies Dominicae, is to go to London or Manchester. Now, Manchester is an interesting choice because that’s precisely where some priests go. The illustrious Fr Michael Collins of Dublin diocese (friend of the disgraced abbot of Montecassino, Pietro Vittorelli) had the brass neck to go to Manchester on a Saturday (for a quickie) and fly back early Sunday in time for Mass in Haddington road. To cap it all, he joked and told countless people he’d been in Manchester to a gay venue. All of this from the horse’s mouth.
Back to the archbishop, what does he get up to on his holidays in southern Spain, I wonder? And how is he familiar with the Manchester scene? Anyone would guess about London, given it’s prominence and size. Or maybe he was just getting the odd nugget from his former confrere, the bursar general of the SMAs (Jarlath…) who has been in every sauna in Europe and beyond.

Bishop Pat, I would like to comment on today’s blog. I did not intend to but some of the comments this morning have been pretty hurtful. You know who I am and what annoyed me about bishop Freeman in the sauna in London. It was the sheer hypocrisy of the man who publicly upheld the anti gay doctrine of the church.
I did not come forward before the bishop’s death because I knew that he was not well. I did not want to add to his suffering. In north Kilkenny where I was living when all this happened, there were rumours about the bishop’s health. The local parish priest in Castlecomer even said it publicly.
I know what I saw in the sauna. I was so shocked because he was the local bishop in Kilkenny, a familiar face. And as I said I met him a few times in Rome when he was superior general of the Pallotines. I was at the Irish College doing a licence in Marriage and the Family at the JP II Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences. Seamus Freeman gave me some help with my thesis on some psychology questions relating to marriage. I don’t think he recognised me that night in London, but I couldn’t mistake him.
I wish your readers would not be so judgemental. I am a former seminarian with no promises of celibacy. I was very open about the scene in the Pleasuredome but I wasn’t the one leading a double life.

There is much condemnation and judgment of the late Bishop’s behaviour. The criticism is apt, though horrible as it must be for for his family. Since the church we belong to requires its leaders and pastors to be as near perfect as possible and to live its teachings on sexuality and celibacy with absolute rigour and fidelity, any moral failing will be greeted with righteous condemnation. Living celibacy and having to restrain, almost deny, our desire for human intimacy, there will be, if our need for sexual intimacy is to be realised, the temptation to look elsewhere: secretive relationships with men or women: grinder and other apps: one night stands: group gatherings: casual get togethers simply for “fun”, (mostly with married men): gay meeting places, saunas and pubs. All of these scenarios and experiences have been highlighted here on this blog and we have witnessed the ensuing sexual scandals. Hypocrisy, moral double standards and spiritual malaise can be attributed to such behaviour. Now that the Church hierarchy is aware of the challenges and obvious difficulties of living without blemish the vow of celibacy and being chaste (virtually impossible), there must be, has to be, an open, honest discussion about these issues. None of us can instantly or automatically extract our sexuality from the essence of who we are as human beings. Some priests and Bishops have inspired me greatly in their faithful witness to priesthood, celibacy and prayerfulness. Many of us struggle at every level. We each begin the journey to priesthood with the best of intentions and ideals. Then we reach the 7 year itch!! I reached it myself and required much counselling to navigate my way through a very disquieting time. I remain disquieted today because of the damage done by the egregious hurt and abuse by clerics. The efgirts required to rebuild trust is almost impossible. Refinding our place in society is a despairing experience. What to do in the face of these challenges and revelations? I’m not sure. One thing I know: if I did not own my daily sins and failings to God each day in prayer and in the Eucharist, I’d be in a deeper abyss.

2:47pm the Villa at Gaeta. The Irish College in Rome used to have a villa south of Rome on the coast at Gaeta. It went back to the days when students didn’t go home for the summer or at other holidays. It would have been too expensive. So they stayed in Italy but got out of the heat of Rome to the coast.
The Rector, and I assume other staff, went as well. It wasn’t meant to be a holiday camp but the regime was more relaxed than in Rome.
Students went to weekly confession to the local PP. There was time for sport and swimming.
The implication is that more than sport, swimming, confession and praying went on in Gaeta.
A surprising number of people who were students together at Gaeta ended up becoming bishops.
The need to keep sexual secrets ensured the rise of these individuals to the dizzy heights of the episcopate.
